A diamond in the Dales

It is a lovely B&B. A little remote but beautiful views all around. Stayed two nights in the Boots room. Nice big room with large double bed, little sofa, couple of chairs and a gorgeous deep window sill, perfect for the morning cuppa and views across the fields. Bathroom was a good size as was the shower. Nothing worse than a tiny shower cubicle and this was a nice big space. They are horses and alpacas at the property. The roads to and from are a single track and rather rural. Take is easy and hope you don't meet anything other than a dog walker coming the other way. Breakfast was delicious. Fruit, yoghurt, cereal and a menu of cooked options. Plentiful tea, coffee and toast. Highly recommend a stay here, I definitely go back.

We had a lovely stay. We were made to feel welcome and our room was lovely. The only issue we had was the noise from neighbouring rooms walking about upstairs and locking/unlocking their door, downside of an older house.

Beautiful place, highly recommend! 😍

We stayed for one night for a gig at Peak Cavern. It was a fab location, very peaceful and picturesque!
The hosts were lovely and very welcoming!
Had a great sleep in a very comfortable bed and then had a delicious breakfast in the morning! Jan's homemade marmalade was to die for, they should consider selling it, we'd definitely have bought a few jars!
All in all a great stay and would definitely go back if we visit the area again! 😍

A pleasant stay. After an initial hiccup with our accommodation it was sorted very quickly by Neil for which we were grateful. Would return but would probably return to one of the rooms in the house or the annexe as the Cottage was a little bijou! Very good breakfasts cooked by Jan. Thank you!

Somewhere to relax and feel spoilt.

Rushop Hall was easier to find than we’d anticipated in its beautiful quiet location.
We were immediately welcomed and shown where to park outside our accommodation. The room was spacious, clean and equipped well.
Breakfast was delicious with homemade jam, fresh fruit and some provision for vegans.
If it hadn’t been for a tight schedule we’d have liked to have stayed longer.
The staff were friendly and accommodating.

What a gem Rushop Hall is. Easy to find and we received a warm, friendly welcome from the host.
We were initially a little disappointed that we had been allocated a guest room within the main family house, rather than one of the separate lodges, but it was fine and the room (Harris Room) was beautifully furnished and appointed. Plenty of space, and excellent selection of teas and coffees, and a lovely view of the surrounding countryside. The bathroom was a little on the cosy side and the water pressure in the shower was low, but it was clean and bright, no real problem at all.
Breakfast in the NoCar Cafe on site was an absolute treat, one of the best we've had on our travels. Superb quality of food, coffee and service. And thanks for recommending the Lamb Inn for our dinner after we arrived on Saturday evening. Just a short drive to Chinley for a fantastic meal in an amazing pub.
Overall, an excellent place to stay, and I'd book there again without hesitation.

A tranquil escape

The Hut on the Hill was a haven of calm and comfort. I loved sharing my quiet mornings with the rabbits, alpacas and sheep - I also had a very friendly visit from a lovely cat. The Hut is well equipped, with a very efficient woolburner and a very comfortable bed. The hut has been so cleverly converted to provide everything one may need, without compromising on space. A genuine pleasure. The breakfast was delicious, and the hosts are friendly but not intrusive. Just the retreat from the real world I needed, thank you.

Fantastic!

My wife and I enjoyed a very relaxing stay at Rushop. The proprietors are a very friendly, helpful and accomodating pair. The room was clean, airy and spacious. The bed was comfy, and there's a communal lounge, which we didn't use but looks nice. Really tasty breakfast served very efficiently. To be honest the only minor grumble in an otherwise excellant hotel experience was that the water pressure in the shower was a bit lame. I would definately recommend this beautiful place.

Beauty in a Valley

A delightful place - tucked away in the valley off the main road. Very easy to reach the busy bustling Buxton with its usual traffic delays! A series of individual buildings but the standard of renovation very high and everywhere spotless clean. My double room for single use under the roof so space to stand up a little restricted. No lift but a flight of stairs - no problems for a normally fit person!! Window at floor level in the room. Nothing unusual from my experience. Bed comfortable & shower very efficient. Room tidied daily. Very quiet and an early morning stoll around the property to see the alpaca & horses - very pleasant. Breakfast menu wide with local produce. Fresh fruit, sliced with yoghurt & plum compote delicious. Main breakfast usual fare but no hash browns or baked beans - hooray. All well presented, good portions d not dripping in fat & oil. It was just the meal to get you underway for the day! I found the proprietor & staff most helpful & obliging. All in all a delightful stay; only wish it could have been longer.

Unexpected stay

After travelling for a day out from Lincoln to buxton we had a nice suprise it was a festival weekend , we decided to stay over and tried to find last minute accommodation with not much luck as it was so busy . We eventually found Rushton hall on hotels.com with one room left we snapped it up , we drove there to find it was in a lovely rural area only a 10 minute drive from the center of things , which was ideal for a quiet stay , lovely room called boots , view from window in our room looked out onto horses and an alpaca, breakfast in the morning was superb, we tried to book in again for the following weekend but it was fully booked 😔 we will definitely be going back .

Excellent B&B in the beautiful natural habitat but

I stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed my stay a lot. it was exactly what i needed. surrounded by green, and the sound nothing but the odd sheep. Alpaca looking at me from the neighbouring field was also a huge highlight. Everything was in great condition and everything was provided for and thought off. breakfast was great quality with great service.

My only minor criticism would be that the room i booked which was described as a romantic room was actually a shepherds hut. I didn’t mind as i really wanted to stay in a shepherds hut so i got lucky, but if not i wouldn’t have wanted to stay in it.

I also missed a slight personal touch from the b&b owners who were perfectly pleasant, thorough with their management and very professional. But there was very minimal interaction or interest in any conversation or exchange of any small talk which some may perceive as unfriendly. I didn’t mind it though and assumed they were busy.

It was a shame that the website has not been updated since COVID to point out that evening meals are no longer available. It would also be worth pointing out that sat navs struggle to find the property. Waze worked, Google maps and Honda sat nav didn't. Even a few words on what to look out for in terms of the Bridleway to drive down would have helped. Also, it was not obvious where to check-in.

Very happy we chose to stay here

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay at Rushop hall in the twin room in the main house. The room itself was spacious and absolutely beautifully decorated to a very high standard. The beds were extremely comfortable and the mattresses & duvets very good quality. One bed did squeak a bit but they’re old fashioned style (iron) so partly expected.
The breakfast was one of the best we’ve had in any hotel and again quality was outstanding. The fruit/yoghurt/compote combination was superb.

There were a couple of things that could be improved: Clearer signage on arrival of where to pick up keys as it’s not obvious.
Information in the room about wifi code and local walks from the B&B would be useful.
We didn’t have a phone signal (EE) in some parts of the accommodation. This didn’t bother us as the Wifi was excellent, but may be troublesome for some guests.
The owners were unable to provide evening meals due to staffing (pingdemic?) and we were well aware of this prior to arrival (very good communication via e-mail on possible local eateries). Again, not a problem for us, but there is no bar/drinks availability without dining so just beware.
We will recommend to our rellies and friends as a great place to stay – such a beautiful area.

Single occupancy room at the weekend in summer

The owners were friendly and greeted me when I arrived and showed me where to park. They also lent me a charger adaptor for my electric toothbrush, as there wasnt a shaver socket. They were happy to keep some meat in their fridge for a barbecue I was attending and also some medication I needed to take that has to be kept cold. They were flexible with my breakfast time, allowing me to split it in two and they had oat milk which I found a suitable alternative to almond milk. The room itself was comfortable and not cramped, with plenty of space and a sofa. The toilet flush had very strong pressure, the shower heat was instant and there was plenty of loo roll provided.

Not the easiest to find but worth it

Its a great location if somewhat difficult to find. Right amongst some great walking in the Peak District

It si not that easy to find though as SAT NAV gets you near - but look for a burgandy B&B sign and don't follow your sat nav when it tells you to leave the road !!

I thought this was a lovely property and I really enjoyed my stay here. It was booked as an impromptu getaway after our holiday abroad had to be cancelled, and it was blissful. The staff were very friendly, the food in the B&B was delicious, and the setting was completely idyllic and peaceful. It was in an ideal location for getting to Mam Tor and Kinder Scout, as well as close to several towns, but well away from the main road and very sheltered. The stables there were a delight as well, I loved passing by the horses on my way to breakfast, and seeing them come back or head out for rides.

The bedroom itself was a lovely size, very warm and cosy, with a nice shower ensuite. We couldn't have asked for more!

One thing I will say is that sound does travel in the main house, so you can hear the comings and goings if people arrive back later in the evening. This wouldn't be a problem if you stayed in one of the self-catering residences, and probably wouldn't have been a problem for me if I hadn't necked three pints of pepsi over dinner and was so caffeinnated by the time I got to bed I could see through time.

If you are coming to the hall from the direction of Castleton, Google Maps will try and send you down the drive towards the farm which is the turn before the B&B. If you come up to the farm turning, there is another turning shortly afterwards which is the actually drive down to Rushop Hall.

Thanks again for having us, it was the perfect break!
