Old hotel which could do with some TLC, but then prices would have to rise significantly. Big room. Decent sized bathroom. Shower over bath. Shower pressure very good. Cosy little bar area. Lovely setting, easy walking distance to/from town centre. Good range of eateries and bars in town. All staff very nice. Would definitely book this hotel again.

Only complaint was that it didn’t snow - which is hardly the fault of the hotel!

A tucked out of the way gem, Buxton night life not a long walk at all but opted for a £3.50 taxi to luciano's restaraunt (Also very nice), it was raining.. Hotel staff very friendly, nice to be greated with a smile and a sense of, Welcome! Very clean, comfy bed, had a long soak in the big deep bath much needed after my busy week. Breakfast was fab, and again the staff were very welcoming... in 2025 I stayed in over 70 Hotels, being a mancunnian it must be our northern pleasantness and without being biased Best Western Plus @ Buxton has been the most welcoming and pleasant by all the staff we encountered, even a smile and good morning from house keeping..In an era where underated service comes with a non compulsory service charge to your bill, this was the first time I gladly left a tip on departure..No service charge here though..

Thank you Best Western Plus @ Buxton we will be back.

FYI service charges to any bill whether drinkingbor eating out are not compulsory, check your bill be you pay.. if you pay the service charge the goverment earns more tax!!

Booked a room for 1 night. Were supposed to be in the annex, on arrival receptionist told us we have room in the hotel so bringing us over. Great we thought, then told us there is a Xmas party on within the hotel. But what she didn't tell us that the room that was allocated to us was right above the disco going on until midnight!. Noise was unbelievable, 4/5 hours of constant noise. Totally ruined the weekend which we were looking forward too. Wanted to ask if we could be moved but this was at 9 pm so just sat it out. Would of thought the professional and courteous thing to do were to forwarn us where our room was so we could ask for another room before we unpacked! Fancy putting people above for all intentional purposes was a nightclub. NOT HAPPY.

From the moment we arrived till we said goodbye the staff were accommodating, personable and demonstrated efforts to ensure we felt comfortable and well served. Lovely, comfortable hotel with a very good breakfast - buffet cereals etc and cooked to order hot breakfast. Staff were very pleasant and xame across as efficient and happy in their work.

I chose this hotel as it was the only hotel in Buxton with electric car chargers which is another story. The charging was not without incident but the hotel manager was very helpful sorting out our problem. We were in the annex but it was close enough not to be a problem and a nice room. The TV required screen sharing which did not work with my iPhone 17 but not bothered about that.

Furniture in room had lots of handles missing & loose. The fan in the bathroom was very noisy & stayed on long after the light was switched off.
Very nice breakfast.
Originally had to park on the road before spotting a parking space in grounds.
Very handy for the town as long as you don’t mind the hill!

Beautiful tasteful hotel in fantastic green surroundings.
Excellent customer service from all staff at the hotel and check was very easy and smooth. Beautiful spacious room and such a fantastic traditional staircase when entering the hotel. Breakfast was amazing and the dining area was so calming & pleasant. Excellent location to all attractions/amenities and very easy to walk on foot to reach the amazing shops, bars and restaurant's.. Loved the Buxton Baths.
Highly recommend this hotel and I would come back to this hotel when I visit Buxton again and stay over. Excellent standards and 10 out of 10 ⭐️

Everyone was very friendly. We were offered tea in the lobby by Nicola while relaxing from a neighbourhood walk. Our view from the room looked over the lawn bowling and cricket pitch, very nice. The building is old, with some spongy floors, but that's what we expected. Would definitely stay again. The meals were great and not overpriced.

Great stay at the best western plus in Buxton. Fantastic welcome by reception staff, polite, knowledgeable and made to feel welcome. When busy hotel always felt there was staff on help to help. Clean and tidy in rooms. Good breakfast with some good variety like styles of eggs and cereals. Only slight criticism is hotel starting to feel dated ,but actually still feels like it blends with the overall Buxton country feel. A great base to travel through the Derbyshire Peaks.

Loud party really ruined our stay

Paid for a superior room in the annexe. Got put in a standard room in the main hotel, told on arrival there would be a loud party the next night til around midnight.

With that thought in mind I’m sat in a hotel room on my girlfriend’s birthday wondering how I messed up so bad. We could hear every noise from the bar and corridor in the room. Checked my confirmation and realised we were in the wrong room - the room we paid for was much quieter and much more in line with what I paid and we were eventually put in it.


On night 2 of our stay there was indeed the aforementioned loud party. Not the relaxing stay in the Peak District we came for.

Leewood is a delightful Hotel only 10 minutes walk from the Pavilion Gardens, Opera House and Crescent. The restaurant serves good food and the hours will accommodate early starters and late risers. Rooms spacious and we'll appointed, for the price it reflects good value and we would go back.

Fantastic staff.

A couple of minor issues with the room on check in but the staff went above and beyond to rectify it quickly. All of the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly throughout our stay. Breakfast was amazing and the staff were polite and attentive.
The hotel and some of the rooms are currently being refurbished; we stayed in one of the superior rooms which hadn’t been refurbished and it was a little tired. The size of the room was good and it was bright and airy. The floorboards in our room and neighbouring room were creaky and noisy and unfortunately the movement from the neighbouring room kept us wake during the night. This is the only negative part of what was otherwise a lovely stay.

We booked a 3 night stay on the first day of opening after boxing day so the hotel was quiet. However the warmth, friendliness' of the staff was in abundance. Clean, comfortable hotel with friendly staff that offer a good service. We had a pleasant room with a nice view over the front of the hotel. The breakfast was good. Parking was easy. Well located with a variety of nice restaurants within walking distance and perfect location to enjoy the peak district. Ideal for a weekend stay.

Best choice if you don't mind a ten-minute walk

A very attractive hotel, our favourite at a reasonable price in Buxton. Some fittings a bit basic (poor bedside lamps) and no room safe, but made up for it by friendly and efficient staff.

Distinctively average. Food was good for evening dinner. Breakfast no so.
Rooms are a bit antiquated and need modernisation. This does appear to be underway. Plenty of scaffolding around the building right now, we weren't warned about that. Staff were excelent though.

It was really lovely and clean. We stayed for two nights and our room was cleaned whilst we were out. Breakfast was lovely. Good vegetarian / vegan options. Staff super friendly and helpful.

The only request I have is to remove the plastic cups from the bathroom and replace with reusable glass cups. Lovely stay!

Cold Building Warm Staff

We were first allocated a room in the Annex (43) this was like a fridge and the heating did not work, when I called reception a waiter was sent around to fix the room heating which he couldn't do. We were moved to a room in the main hotel the room was slightly warmer the main source of heat was the Bathroom towel rail. OUR BOOKING WAS FEBRUARY 2022 and it was a wet and cold weekend.

The communal areas of the hotel were also very cold, colder than the rooms, so we were not able to relax, thaw out and dry off whilst having snacks and drinks.

In the evenings all the communal areas were still very cold and no heating was available in the Bar area, guests were sat in coats whilst waiting for taxis to take them to warmer bars and pubs.

The food was nice and hot which was welcomed.

I will say the staff at the hotel more than make up for what the building lacks, they are friendly, polite, helpful and happy, the staff get an 11 out of 10.

The Hotel is going through a refurb which is why the heating was not working, it would have been nice to know this in advance.

On the whole it was a nice weekend break, due to the location we may try it again in the Summertime.

I travel through work and have usually been in hotels 4 nights per week, this is a lower end hotel and does NOT deserve the \"Best Western Plus\" branding.
