We had a 4 day stay last week.

Bedroom 2 was very spacious with en suite.
Breakfast delicious his scrambled egg was so tasty.
Pascal was an excellent host and very informative on places to visit.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Parking a little tight but as there was only us and another guest it was fine.

Pascal was excellent. We arrived slightly early but he welcomed us with canapes, glass of fizz and useful local information. Room had everything you need and anything missing they could provide. Pascal was excellent cook and would adjust to your needs. Magnificent sour dough bread. Pickering beautiful town and accommodation just 5 minute walk from town centre. Looking forward to getting the chance to stay again. Thank you Pascal, Sarah and family for making us feel so welcome.😄

Breakfast was great and Pascal is very friendly . Lovely house but unfortunately we felt it could have been presented so much better, just sweeping front step adding some plants to the empty pots would have made it more inviting but overall we felt it needed a good clean.

The already Excellent reviews are well deserved! Ideal for our stay in Pickering being close to the town centre and pubs/restaurants. The parking felt secure and convenient. Our room was well presented with breakfast having quality ingredients and cooked professionally.

Choose this B&B when you visit the area

Obviously anywhere that makes their own sour dough bread, is the place to stay. Nothing was too much trouble for Pascale. Lovely welcome, great room, quiet and plenty of space. Good shower. Breakfast - apart from the Kelloggs offering- yuk…_is freshly made and a good selection. The location of Cawthorne House is brilliant, easy to walk into the centre. Nice walk to Thornton-le-Dale. Also has a car park round the back, so handy.

Pascal greeted us warmly and made us feel welcome from the first point of contact. The drink, canapé and cookies were much appreciated after a long journey. Breakfast was fantastic and prepared beautifully using quality ingredients and the room was very comfortable. Several dining options are within walking distance to suit all budgets and the car park behind the property is very convenient . Pascal was full of local knowledge and tips and we would certainly stay here again if in the area .

Try the scrambled eggs!

A little apprehension at first as there is no real ‘kerb appeal’ but this masks an excellent guest house and welcome. The glasses of fizz and canapé on arrival help us to settle in.
The cooked to order breakfast is worthy of a 5 star hotel.
Would recommend to those wishing to explore the North Yorkshire Moors.

Fabulous place run by a fabulous family. Breakfast was amazing as was Pasqual's sour dough bread. Is very clean and comfortable with lovely extras like a welcome drink with homemade canapè plus home made cookies in the room. Very Enjoyable Stay in Pickering

The owner, Pascal, provides a unique personal experience to your stay in his hotel. Excellent breakfasts are mixed with conversation, advice, and helpfulness for his guests.
Accommodation is decent. We had the one ground floor room which was a reasonable size. The room was clean and room service was provided every third day. The hotel location was very good, being a short walk to the High Street and North Yorkshire Moors Railway. There are 3 parking spaces taken on a first come first served basis. If full, the alternative is to park in the road outside which is very busy.

A wonderful hidden gem B&B. Lovely welcome from Pascal and his personalised breakfasts with his famous sourdough bread are delicious. It’s the special little things that make you feel special, hime made cookies in the room, canapés and bubbles on arrival. Bottled water in the room as well as plenty of beverages and toiletries. Great location for the coast of the lovely market towns and return after a long day to a comfortable bed.

And we were not disappointed
Pascal is definitely the host with the most!
A complimentary glass of fizz and canapes on arrival was a lovely touch. Especially after the long drive up.
We had a walk into town for our evening meal, after reading some of the recommendations.. it's a nice easy walk with plenty of establishments to choose from.
Breakfast was pre order and was absolutely delicious, we tried two different options on both days, the avocado on homemade sour dough was outstanding..
A lovely 2 day break.. icing on the cake was a ride on the Sir Nigel Gresley train..

An absolute gem of a bed and breakfast

What an incredible stay we had. A beautiful room and the most delicious of breakfasts. We were so spoilt having homemade sourdough bread each morning. Amazing B&B that would put most 4/5 star hotels to shame. Lovely service from Pascal from start to finish. Amazing breakfast, lovely room with absolutely no bad points at all from this 2 day stay. Pascal was the most friendly and welcoming of hosts. Fizz and a canapé and delicious breakfast, especially his homemade sourdough of which he is deservedly proud.
Our room was spacious and the shower was excellent. Dare I say that the room would benefit from a refresh? A little tlc would elevate it to Boutique standard.

Warm welcome at this Artisan B&B.

We were made very welcome by our hosts. After settling
in our room we were greeted with Sparkling Wine and canapes. We were advised about the area and restaurants for an evening meal. The owner even booked one of the locations to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Nothing was too much trouble for Paschal our host. Breakfasts were freshly cooked to a high standard with lovely presentation.

A place to revisit.

Pascal, our host, was charming, warm and incredibly friendly and generous. We were welcomed with a glass of fizz, canapés and home made biscuits. Our king sized room was v comfortable and clean.
Breakfast was superb: locally produced ingredients; sourdough bread baked by Pascal that morning; beautify cooked and presented full English breakfast. The best we’ve ever had.
Nothing was too much trouble for Pascal. He engaged with us and others staying there, suggesting places in the area to visit.
Pickering is a very friendly market town. Cawthorne House is central and walking distance to local amenities and places to eat.
Would we return? Indeed we will. Next time I shall book in for a master class on sourdough bread making with Pascal.

Pascal very friendly and helpful host. We arrived early but were able to check in as room was ready. Lovely canape and glass of bubbly to welcome. Room had everything you needed and more! Homemade cookies appeared on our second day. Breakfast exceptional with freshly homemade baked bread and locally sourced ingredients.
We will certainly return when in the area and have no hesitation in recommending this small privately run B & B to anyone visiting the area. Ideally located for town and easy access to coast and moors.

Property is a beautiful home located in the centre of Pickering. Close to lots of lovely places to explore.

My partner and i chose Cawthorne House on the strength of the excellent reviews we read, and I'm pleased to say that we were not disappointed!
From the helpful correspondence sent after we booked, to the warm and friendly welcome we received on arrival - including canapes and a glass of bubbly - Pascal made our short stay truly enjoyable.
The house itself is situated in a lovely street with easy walking access to Pickering town centre, and the Yorkshire coast within a half hour drive. A lovely clean room with excellent facilities and a cooked breakfast that was second to none! Although we were only away for a few days, It felt like proper break thanks to the excellent service provided and we'd have no hesitation in choosing Cawthorne House when we plan our next Yorkshire trip. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Foodies delight with a great Yorkshire welcome.

Our 2 night stay was excellent. Cawthorne House is a lovely building, full of character with traditional decor. We were made to feel welcome from the off and appreciated the extra touch of fizz and canapés and homemade cookies which Pascal provided. The owner is extremely personable - a Yorkshireman with a French name. We chose Pickering as a base to explore North Yorkshire on our motorcycle but we were disappointed to find the town had declined somewhat since our last visit, with many of the shops closed. Breakfast was a delight and certainly lived up to all the positive reviews. We were in room 4, a double at the rear and my only slight negative was the bathroom fan was noisy and stayed on for too long. On the plus side, it was very quiet and we were able to keep an eye on our motorcycle parked at the back of the building. Our experience overall was very pleasant indeed.

Wonderful stay.

This is a lovely guest house where you are treated as friends. There are only 4 rooms so nice and cosy.
The hotel is ideally located being just a short 4 minute walk to the centre of Pickering, but is also handily placed for Whitby, Scarborough and York.
The owners are very friendly and the included breakfast is absolutely spot on, especially the home made sour dough bread!
