Staff helpful, room well used and a couple of lights out in the bathroom, but blackout curtains worked and the bed was reasonably comfortable, so a good night’s sleep was had for fifty quid.

Closed for renovations

When we arrived, the hotel was surrounded by high wire fencing preventing us from getting to the front door. Staff at a nearby restaurant told us the hotel had been closed for renovations for two weeks, starting the day we left on our trip. We were able to find alternate accommodation.

Disappointing

The hotel was being renovated. We were not made aware of this before our stay. There was no hof breakfast just a box containing a box of concentrated orange, a biscuit, granola and raisins. No other services open. Very disappointing. Had we been aware we would not have booked. Why didn't Holiday Inn make an arrangement with Toby Carvery next door to breakfast there.

Comfortable, convenient hotel for Banbury.

This hotel is clean, comfortable & very handy for Banbury being just off the M40. There are two restaurants within a few minutes walk for evening meals etc. This hotel is excellent value for travellers & families alike.

Nice Hotel near to home that was overflowing

Suited our purpose --- my house was full of guests from Netherlands & Liverpool --- I needed a bed close by ( in walking distance & reasonable ) !!

Express Inn Banbury

Whilst the room was clean the bathroom was not good. The water pressure was such that we both gave up even trying to use the shower as there was nothing more than a trickle and were told that this was normal for the hotel. Due to this alone, we won't be staying again.

We stayed here for 2 nights and it was a plesant stay. Close to tanks alot where we were visiting on the saturday. The hotel is next to a frankie and bennies resturant and also a Toby carvery which is handy. Breakfast is basic but nice

Good quality hotel, with a convenient location

We stayed as a family, with our dog, and took 3 rooms. All rooms were well equipped, clean and comfortable. Surprisingly quiet considering the location near to the road. We ate in Frankie & Benny's which was just opposite. We were advised the menu for evening meals was limited at the hotel, but this was not a problem. Breakfast was fine, hot food on offer and ample choice of buffet. Obvious quality in the bedding and towels. Excellent quality.

Cold and no wi-fi

One of the worst places I've stayed in. Never again, I've stayed on the 1st floor, in room 106. It was very noisy inside from the nearby roads and the thin curtain do nothing to keep away the noise (or cold for that matter). The room was freezing. Tthe aircon setting was locked on the maximum level of 24 degrees (which it wasn't, as the air it blew was cool). The sticker on the aircon said this was because Holiday Inn likes 'to save environment'. Who are you kidding? Stop treating your customers like idiots please. It's even more insulting to us when your aircon can't heat the air at all and we're freezing. I had to call the reception and after half an hour of wait, I was finally presented with a protable heater. I should be so thankful! Oh, and connecting to their free wi-fi is far from simple! I couldn't connect for ages, then asked the reception only to get a reply that 'sometime this happens with laptops, nothing we can do'. Managed to connect later in the evening (problems with capacity?) only to get cut off every 10 -15 minutes. I wish I booked one of the small (comfy and warm) B&Bs nearby. Holiday Inn Banbury - never again!

Checkin was quick and easy with plenty of parking. There is a petrol station nearby if you need to fill the tank. Very convenient and easy to find from the motorway.Decent sized room with a very comfy bed.

A welcoming stay

This stay was very satisfying after a long tiring day in the pouring rain on August bank holiday. Staff were helpful and made this stay welcoming. The hotel was clean spacious, light and comfortable, breakfast was good. If in the area again I will certainly stay again.

Great Hotel

Holiday inn Banbury was very good. Stayed with my teenage children, the room was nice, and the beds comfortable. Great breakfast and the wifi was very good. Good location, near the motorway and able to get to oxford in approx. 30 mins. Room was a good sized and bathroom was nice.

Hotel very busy every night. Lifts not working. Breakfast included? most days there was nothing left. One day we came down to just beans.. The ashtrays and trash cans were overflowing, and we mentioned this to the staff on numerous occasions. IT wasn't until we emailed the parent company that they were emptied. The rooms were tiny. They called it a family room.. With 2 adults and 2 children it was uncomfortable. Parking was not guest friendly. Overall disappointed for the cost of the room.

Overall a good experience. Good clean hotel. Friendly staff. Buffet breakfast very good. Only downside was that the bed was very hard and the sofa bed for the children was also very uncomfortable. Would use again.

Very nice hotel and friendly helpful staff. Pleasantly surprised how modern and refreshing the hotel was. Had read reviews re breakfast before & only 3 hit items, thus was true but there were plenty of alternatives on offer as well. All in all very happy with our stay.

Although free-I feel overcharged for the breakfast

The rooms were standard, at best. Adjoining door to a strangers room was an odd thing to have if not staying with friends/family. Bathroom was horrible and more akin to a hospital than a hotel - very clinical feel. This was all topped off by the worst part of the stay; the breakfast.

Suffering from post-wedding hangovers, our group were looking forward to the great \"free\" breakfast as advertised. Naturally we figured that the standard items on an English breakfast menu would appear, however, we were sorely disappointed. Three things appeared for your English breakfast; beans, sausage, and very anaemic looking scrambled eggs. No hash browns, no mushrooms, no fried eggs, no tomatoes, no bacon. Even my Jewish girlfriend was dismayed by the lack of bacon with her breakfast. To top off the lack of variety, the three things you offered were continuously empty, leaving people standing around having to contemplate a health yogurt or cereal. Seriously, if I’d have known how bad the breakfast would have been, I would have gone elsewhere.

How much would I pay to stay in one of these hotels again? Like they advertise their breakfast; Nadda!

Very clean, great breakfast, tight space

Pluses were the cleanliness - everything was near new, and it all worked (this seems to be the exception lately). Breakfast was great, and access to the motorway was excellent. By our standards, the room was very tight. We were travelling with a family, and while the fold-out sofabed was adequate for 2 medium size children, it was quite tight for ours (they are tall). Alos, when the bed was folded out, there was no room for anything else. No desk space, no suitcase-opening space, etc. On the plus side, the bathroom was very new and clean, and the shower worked well. Curiously, it lacked a business centre or exercise room - two things I have come to expect from business hotels.

Nice hotel but when we got to the room no soap/shower gel in the room. Having said that, when we went to reception they provided some straight away. Breakfast was not too good - horrible scrabbled egg, overdone beans and very odd sausage. Plenty of other stuff on offer but the cooked breakfast was not good.

Backache = Sleep Failure

Nice modern hotel and really looked the part until I climbed into bed and sunk straight to the middle. Try as I may I could not get comfortable in such a soft bed offering very little support. Consequently backache forced an early rise the following morning. My wife experienced exactly the same and we were both weary throughout the day as a result. Unfortunately we had booked two nights at the hotel so suffered twice!

You get what you pay for, no frills but excellent , staff were very professional, only gripe Wfi problems ,do not feel one should register, seriously boring and over the top, and after all that and going to reception it worked for five minutes then no more. Apple iPad never had problems before anywhere here or in France.

Clean and comfortable but soul-less hotel - bland. Breakfast was the worst I have had in a hotel or guest house. Poor choice of cooked food, lack of staff, tables not cleared or wiped down. I had to do that myself. Coffee was good though.

We had a family room for two nights. The room was immaculate and plenty big enough for four. The hotel is on the outskirts of Banbury, about 20-25 minutes walk to the centre, but as well as the hotel's restaurant there is an adjacent Frankie & Benny's if you don't fancy the walk.

Nice clean hotel for a night's stay

Our family stay there for a night. The room was clean and comfortable. Breafast was good. Would go back there again. However the wifi only allows 2 devices to be connected, which is a bit insufficient considering the number of devices we now have (phone, tablet and notebook) per person.

Nice place to stay, right off the motorway.

Very nice hotel, room was large and had everything we needed. Heating was an issue, the room tended to be cold but we called the front desk and they did look into it. Breakfast was good, enough to get the day started. The front desk helped us with getting food delivered one night, when things were about to shut.

Main aspect = convenience

Stayed at the HI Express Banbury on the way from Stratford down into the Cotswolds. Very conveniently located just off the motorway and plenty of parking due to the out-of-town nature. We were booked into an accessible double room which is larger than the standard rooms. Bed was standard HI fare and tea/coffee making facility provided. However, we felt that the hotel was a little noisy at night - the walls appear to be rather thin and we could hear our neighbours' moves. This was not helped by screaming children on either side of the corridor at a very early time of the morning. Although children will always cry, we had a similar position the night before at a different hotel and didn't really notice due to the thick doors and walls. Breakfast was \"minimalist\", with just sausages, scrambled eggs, beans and pastries/cereals (no cheese/ham continental fare). No bacon was a bit of a let-down, but we presumed that it was a supply issue rather than standard! In summary, we would describe the hotel as \"cheap and cheerful\" - fine for an overnight stay but wouldn't stay for a more extended period.

Great hotel

Lots of free parking, free internet in every room, free breakfast, good working air conditioning, good staff, clean, tidy, quiet, comfortable rooms. Add to that you're 1 minute from the M40, right next to a brand new Franky and Bennys and Toby carvery, and 1 minute from a Shell garage and Costa coffee.

I don't have a single thing to complain about in the 5 days and 2 x separate visits in this hotel over a 2 week period.

Thoroughly recommended!

My wife and I could not fault this hotel which was clean and well laid out, and the room had all that we required for our brief stay. Fortunately the air conditioning in the bedroom meant that we did not have to open the window and hear the traffic on the motorway! The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient.

Cool Room

We could not have picked a better hotel considering that day time temperatures were 28 - 30 degrees and night time temperatures were about 18 degrees. The room had air conditioning and it was such a refreshing feeling to walk into the room, had a fantastic nights sleep too. The only thing I would say about the complimentary breakfast is that it was fine apart from the sausages which were a disappointment. I would definitely recommend the hotel and will probably stay there again.

Great Breakfast, Lousy WiFi

Breakfast buffet gets very high marks! The US HI Expresses should come here to see how a buffet is done right. But I could not get WiFi in my room as advertised, so had to sit in lobby and even then it was sloooooooooow. This property has a couple restaurants/pubs next door, otherwise its in the car to see town or shops.

Hair dryer broken, air conditioner broken, window only opens 2 inches, room was warm, no complimentary in room wi-fi, could not access wi-fi in public areas. Was not a good value for the price. A chain hotel this large should offer free in room wi-fi and check the condition of all its listed amenities.

Great value for a clean, comfortable environment

Service for breakfast could have been better and there was a small blip over the type of room requested but overall we can only offer praise for the way the hotel dealt with a crisis when a ring of real sentimental value was left in a bathroom.

The hotel staff dealt with this problem with honesty and a desire to solve an undoubted problem as we had long departed the hotel and the area.

Nice hotel/awful mattress!

The hotel is pretty new, lovely reception, very modern.The staff are good, all the requests I asked were granted. The rooms are spacious which is why I don't understand the small double bed instead of a king size bed. The mattress was very soft, which means when 2 people share the bed, you both end up in the middle of the bed; which is fine on some occasion, but at 37 weeks pregnant with my pregnancy pillow, it was awful. The bathroom is great, small but sufficient and a really good power ful shower. The breakfast was lovely, everything you need: continental and full english; very good warm croissant and pain au chocolat! overall a nice hotel but if you want a good night sleep, book a twin room.

Hi - stayed overnight for family do nearby - Son with Aspergers Syndrome and Danny Dog- his Cairn mix dog - Could have been a disaster but no -- Staff all great ,room comfortable ,breakfast fine .My only slight downgrading was because corridor carpets on 3rd floor need a clean and could hear other rooms bathroom doors banging throughout the night !! We will be staying again

Excellent for Bicester Shopping

We arrived late after shopping in Bicester. Very easy to find and parking easy. The room was ready and staff helpful. Wi-fi access was excellent. The next morning, the full breakfast buffet (until 11am!) was great before we hit the road again. Very good experience overall.
