I had a night's stop over at Banbury and chose Ashlea Guest House based on the positive reviews. I was not disappointed. I had a warm welcome from Julie and a quick check-in. Julie gave me a map of the locale and pointed out places to eat. My room was clean and had everything I needed - a super-comfortable kingsize bed, ensuite bathroom with plenty of hot water via an electric shower, big fluffy towels and some nice touches such as magnifying makeup mirror, cotton wool pads and buds. The room was lovely and quiet and I got a great night's sleep.

Julie and Ayman are great hosts. You do feel like you're a guest in their home. We had several fun conversations with them, and a couple of times found myself feeling like I was talking to an extended family member (Ayman and his strong feelings about diesel and electric cars comes to mind, as well as Julie and her careful breakfast service). Overall it was the personal experience we were hoping for as visiting Americans.
Only other thoughts are: there is no tennis court on site. That might be a mistakenly advertised amenity. And there are no other comfortable places to sit while on site, in case you find yourself on the property. These are minor things, of course, and if you're just using the place for sleep and breakfast, not a bother at all.

Didn't see the hosts once besides them giving me the keys, neither the man nor the woman offered to help with my bags even when they saw me struggling to manage everything. There was one towel, no body lotion, I'm not impressed at all

It was good just to sleep and nothing else. The room overlooks to a very busy crossroad and there’s always car lights directly to your room regardless of the blocking curtains. The door lock didn’t seem safe and not too sure about where to check in/out as there wasn’t a desk or place to report to. Wouldn’t use again but not terrible.

Easy to find . Helpful and friendly host. Comfortable bed and clean. However tv remote ( handled by everyone during covid ) had not been cleaned , ever by the look of it . It was sticky to touch. Clearly overlooked by cleaners ) shame because otherwisei it was very clean . Breakfast was excellent.

I was told that it was usually enough with one for two people for two nights... I was puzzled. Am I the only one who showers? Anyway, the lady gave me the required shampoo without further discussion.

Small but well-appointed room, perfect for a single traveler or cozy couple. The bed was comfortable and the linens made me not want to leave. Breakfast was delicious. Check-in made me feel like I was coming home from college. The owner-- so warm and inviting!-- provided me with maps and restaurant recommendations, and made sure I knew how to get around despite recent roadwork in the area. We stayed here for one night when we were attending a concert in the Mill Arts Centre - which was 5 minutes down the road! It was really warm and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. There was plenty of off road parking and we were pleased with our choice.

VERY NICE GUESS HOUSE
Owners we very friendly and helpful when I arrived even though I did not get there until near 10pm. They informed me where I could get a meal and gave me directions. My room was clean and tidy and we'll decorated. Breakfast was cooked fresh and to a good standard.
All in all I would return there if I needed to stay locally again and would recommend Ashlea Guest House to others.

We were met on arrival by the owners who were most pleasant and engaging and quickly shown to our rooms after being informed of the way into town and recommendations to get an evening meal.
The room was well equipped with numerous small touches that elevate an establishment from the norm and was pristine clean.

This fantastic B&B-style guesthouse has such nice, comfortable rooms, it's like a home away from home. Nice updated bathroooms, cozy beds, great cable TV, and a terrific breakfast. I recommend the Ashlea Club breakfast from the menu. It's also nice and quiet at night, so you get a great night's sleep. Five stars!

Nice B&B which was close to the town centre, 5 minute walk. We were staying in the annex rooms which were a little small, bathroom smelt damp and obviously had a damp problem due to the chrome work accessories gone rusty. Good breakfast although the pastries weren't fresh but sealed packed ones, I'm guessing for ease. The owners were friendly and would recommend staying there to family and friends, maybe the house rooms are a larger size than the annex ones.

Did the usual tourist things, looked at the old 'Banbury Cross' of nursery rhyme fame and a much newer but very attractive statue of a 'fine lady on a white horse' referenced in the same rhyme.
Excellent touring base with good rail connections to Oxford and London. Plenty of pubs and restaurants, even a town centre Odeon cinema. Good steak at the Church House pub - opposite the parish church on the historic main street.

The Ashlea Guest House is a pleasant 25 minute drive from Oxford in the town of Banbury. The owners are gracious & accommodating. Our rooms were located in the annex and were nicely furnished and very clean. The bathrooms are very tiny. We were given some good recommendations for places to eat in town which we could easily walk to.

I had a stop-over at Banbury. I booked to stay with the Ashlea Guest House as there was a very comfortable room on offer at a good price. That day, I arrived late due to my travelling plans and had to leave early the next day to continue on to my final destination. I would have missed breakfast (served between 8-9 am and included in the room price) otherwise, however I was pleasantly surprised by the owners' kind gesture to leave some fruit, biscuits and a drink in my room the night before. I would say that is an excellent way to treat your guests and I am very thankful to them for it.

I stayed in the annex, the remote control was dirty, the window ledge was also dirty and due to the window being left open it also had a dead fly on it. I could hear every movement from everyone in the hotel, every creeky footstep and door slam at 1am when they got in and 6am when they got up which left me tired for the rest of the day. The beds were nice and comfy but the room was very small. In the night sometimes the light for outside wouldnt come on so youre struggling to open the front door in the dark and as a lone women that was scary.
I only saw the man on arrival and he was nice, the lady was also nice but it seemed very fake and like she was feed up. I probably wouldn't stay here again it is on the top of the hill and much too far out of the way from the rest of the main hotels (5 minute walk from the main shops up hill isn't the greastest) where my colleagues were staying. It shouldn't really be a 4 star.

Great stay, it was a much bigger room than expected and heated well. Very comfortable bed, pleasant decor and clean bathroom. Nice touch to have biscuits provided in the room as well as tea and coffee facilities. Breakfast was served in the morning, with a very wide range of tea selection and choice of cold food aswell as hot breakfast. Very filling! Welcoming hosts and great value for money!
