Nice hotel with friendly staff, good parking and a pleasant reception area. Bowling was great fun and reasonably priced, and the lounge bar was a lovely relaxed space. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and a beautiful view over the lake and golf course.

However, communication around the spa was disappointing. It wasn’t clear at booking that the spa was an additional cost, operated on 2-hour slots only, or that robe hire was an extra £5 per person. I’d emailed in advance to book the spa but was advised to arrange it on arrival, which was difficult as it was Valentine’s weekend. Despite being advertised as having a hot tub, there wasn’t one, and the spa itself was quite small.

There were no room service menus in the room and the menu found online was outdated. Our suite was clean but dated with a car park view, and one side of the bed had no plug socket. Dinner was excellent despite limited menu choices. Our key card also stopped working before the 11am checkout time.

Overall, a pleasant stay with some great highlights, but clearer information and communication would make a big difference

We stayed in a loft room which was very clean and bed was comfortable. Hotel is located in a very quiet area. The spa facilities is one of the best we have ever been to. But be prepared to pay to use it if your room does not include this. Read the small print. Restaurant staff was wonderful especially during breakfast. We will stay here again . Thank you

Lovely evening night away at Hellidon with my partner, recommend to use the spa facilities later in the day as it’s quieter. We had a lovely room over looking the beautiful countryside, room had everything we needed & very quiet. Evening food was delicious, special thank you to Karen and the young gentleman behind the bar / serving food - both very helpful, kind & wonderful members of staff. Both deserve a huge pay rise!😁

Lovely hotel,staff were wonderful but you can not access any of the facilities without paying £20 for 2 hours. This was very disappointing as I booked the hotel for the facilities and wasn’t expecting the extra cost which apparently you have to read the small print in the t&cs to find out even though they are listed when booking the room. Other than that the food and staff were great. We did get put in room 139 and had to complain about the noise from the function room and another guest from 136 also ended up having to be moved so I would definitely check with reception when checking in.

I dont feel like this stay was value for money at all.
Both thermal suit and bowling were fully booked when i tried to book in advance.
The breakfast says it's served til 10.30, however we arrived at 09.50 and there was barely anything left, neither did the staff restock anything, eventhough the lady said she would. So i paid £20 for 1 sausage, 1 slice of bacon, a fried egg (because there was no scrambled and they didnt bring more sausages or bacon). And a bowl of cereal because all the fresh fruit and pastries had gone. The coffee was also premade in a thermal flask. Definitely outdated on that department.
The bed is very hard so i didnt sleep well at all and the walls are thin where you can hear people's phone ring in the next room. Theres no information in the room with regards to room service or menus.
The place is difficult to navigate.
I've stayed in much nicer places for less money, so very disappointed about this stay. We wont be returning or recommending it to anyone.

Sadly not a great review 😕 1st and last time

The view from our room was beautiful and the bed was lovely. The hotel was very clean and the temperature was comfortable. Ghe steak and chips for lunch which was very nice and fairly priced but unfortunately these were the only postives. We recieved a bit of a cold Reception upon arrival and I didn't see 1 member of staff smile the whole time we were there. The room had no bath mat and no bottled water for the kettle. The breakfast was just shocking but the hash browns were nice. The fire alarm went off just before 11:00am and the staff clearly were not trained properly for situation which was extremely concerning and frustrating. We stayed in a suite for about 200 for the night but it wasn't worth it and we would not stay here again.

Although staff worked hard and were always friendly and helpful we felt we were getting inconsistent messages. For example we were told we could only eat from a la carte menu in the restaurant but five minutes later we saw a group being served burgers from the bar menu.
The a la carte was limited with no change so not enough variety for a three night stay.
Breakfast buffet was disappointing. No mushrooms final day because of late delivery.
Only tea and a vat of coffee. Surely a place this size could manage a push button machines to allow a variety of coffee as Premier Inns do.
Beds were a bit lumpy and hard. Our room was only half cleaned one days…cups and glasses not washed. Our friends had a similar experience.
Overall a pleasant stay but wouldn’t go back.

Room was small, shutter blind did not close properly and let in sunlight right above your head meaning we were awake early. Just when we thought it couldn’t get worse, shower tap was faulty meaning we had cold showers. Not what we were expecting from a golf resort and spa.
Told the receptionist at checkout and no offer of a reduction in price despite the above issues.

Dinner was ok, very little gluten free options on the childrens menu but the kitchen tried their best to accommodate a 10 year old. Our room was very spacious, only let down was the shower - this was broken, so trying to get 4 people bathed was a pain.

Lift was not working, nor one of the rooms in the spa, but was comfortable otherwise. The spa is nice and not bad value at £20 for two hours. On arrival late evening we had no hot water. This was only resolved 12 hours later when they finally moved us to another room. We should have been offered another room straight away. Whilst my partner had to work the following day I thought I would spend a nice relaxing time at the spa only after paying £20 to use the facilities for 2 hours found only the hydro pool working, one sauna broken, the other switched off as were the other 2 steam rooms. On asking for a refund as the facilities were not working was told they were unable to and I would have to email the holes chain. Also found that all the other spa treatments were fully booked up for a week in advance. If you are looking for a relaxing spa weekend experience I suggest you book weeks prior to your reservation or you will have a wasted trip as we both did. Also be aware of extra costs to use the facilities. On another note the restaurant staff were excellent and the food.

Disgusting for a golf, spa hotel!!

Very poor for a golf, spa hotel! On arrival we were put on 2nd floor and reception informed us lift wasn't working. We had to carry heavy luggage up to 2nd floor and down again at end of our 2 night stay as lift still not working. When tried the water, we had no hot water the whole of our visit we there, just cold showers all the time.We were told by reception, the system is antiquated!! Which is disgusting for a golf, spa hotel. Restaurant staff did their best and we're very efficient and friendly, especially Vicky the waitress. Would definitely give this hotel a miss!!!!

The hotel, staff, and food were brilliant. Rooms were very clean if a touch tired. The shower let it down, low pressure and not as hot as ideal - other members in my group also had similar showers. Still worth the visit if short as not a deal breaker but more than 2 nights I personally would avoid.

Fitness centre, had to wait 15 minutes to be let into the gym as sign said ring this number as I am away. I did and no answer. Went to reception and a rude receptionist (male, light coloured hair) said they are probably doing a pool test so you will have to wait. I said I rang the number advertised and he said there's no reception where they are, so what is the point of a number. Why not have the room key double up as a swipe? I then asked for a fan for the room, sorry none available, maybe tomorrow. No room number taken or name to send me one when they arrived.

Disappointed that only the gym was included with our stay. The swimming pool and other facilities are all extra, this is outlined in the detail apparently but we didn’t read that far into the detail so maybe a warning for other travellers

An enormous hotel complex within a golf course, comfortable and clean, but a bit impersonal when empty on a cold February weekend. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom had the shower in the bath.
The spa was good at £20 for two hours especially as I had it to myself.
We ate in the bar on Saturday night, which had several menu options, rather than the vast empty dining room.
Nice views over the lakes and golf course but not somewhere to go walking.
Not cosy but good value.

We stayed here for the MotoGP at Silverstone, about a 30 minute drive away. All the hotel staff were very friendly and efficient and the hotel itself is a comfortable place. Reasonable price compared to what was on offer in Silverstone. Didn’t have dinner here so can’t comment, but we did have a good breakfast here each day. Would probably stay here again next year.

The golf course and the property are beautiful as well as the surrounding area. Take note that the rooms are not air-conditioned. They do provide you a fan if you can figure out how to make it work or you can open the window that has no screen on it.
The workers were friendly however the price for food and drinks was on the high side, especially if you are converting from the Canadian dollar to the pound.

I stayed here for three nights as I was attending a property course and I was really disappointed in my bedroom facilities. The hotel itself is really nice and the outside scenery and views are spectacular. The staff around the restaurant are friendly and helpful including Ben, Julian, a young girl whose name I forget and another lady who looked after breakfasts - they are all helpful, friendly and approachable. Lucy at reception is also very friendly and easy to talk to.

The issues I encountered were a few fold with the main one being that my room was freezing, no matter what I did - it was so cold. I remember falling asleep on night one and I made a point of answering the \"how was your check in\" email from Expedia and I mentioned the issues. No response was received by me so I went to the reception in good faith and I let the receptionist know that my room was freezing to which she confirmed that she would let maintenance know. In addition, my room had not been made up after night one even though I specifically left the door notice on.

I then went back to my room to sleep on night two and evidently realised that my room hadn't been made which was quite frustrating. The food is also overpriced and the portions are tiny, although delicious. Value for money is not a thing at this hotel, I feel and customer satisfaction isn't high on the priority list.

Restaurante took over 40 minutes to order food it came with hot coleslaw dessert we request custard it came with cream.
If you want a cooked breakfast you'll have to be up early ran out at 8.30am
No croissants pastries. Tables left uncleared. We were attend a 3 day Taekwondo event which was booked over 12months ago the hotel wasn't prepared for such a large event.
Challenge Manager but our complaint seemed to fall on deaf ears. Staff seemed inexperienced. Didn't even know what their managers name.

A very tired hotel, our bathroom wasn't cleaned at all and the room could do with updating in every way. the double bed was two singles put together. Then from 7pm to midnight there was an event going on directly under our room that was so loud you couldn't here the tv in the room. The front desk didn't seem to care at all at the many complaints being received. The restaurant was okay but massively over priced.

Check in was delayed as room not ready, I arrived after suggested time.

Flies in the room (end of October stay) which seemed surprising. I did seem to be in an annex over the kitchen/ rubbish section of the hotel and when i opened the velux style window the vent from the kitchen offered a wholly refreshing smell of sprouts.

Staff seemed to find every question (not that I asked more than 3) difficult to deal with.

Ordered food from the bar and which was ok but chips weren't cooked and condiments took quite some time to come out, my meal was almost over. It was not a busy time.

Overall, it was an expensive room for the night and quite frankly not worth the money.

Location was nice but the receptionist was not helpful at all, early check in was still charged at fully price for 40 mins early even after I had spoken to the resort twice in the day to have a room ready. No manager to speak to and no choice but to pay or wait till 3pm regardless of a wedding going on. No A/C, wasps come in, would not recommend.

Bad experience at Hellidon lakes

Very disappointed
Never told until checkin that the pool facility weren’t open again same as last year
If we know it wasn’t open I wounded have booked
Hotel had wedding that took over the hotel
There was no were to relax and have a drink without been in the middle of the hotel party
No room service
No offering of a desert menu at the bar like last year ( it’s seems they offer less but the cost of staying doesn’t reduce)

Breakfast was a shamble too they had probably 50 golfers in plus wedding party
So wasn’t room at a proper breakfast table
Then fire alarm went off due to burnt toast !!
Then when everyone came in from the rain there was no food ready so had to wait another 15 mins as all the above hit the food at the same time
Oh and the milk was off at the coffee station

Not a good start to my family’s holiday

Dirty and tired looking decor but good food.

I’ve been here 4-5 times but won’t be coming back. Everywhere looks very tired and dirty and the corridors had a horrible smell. The toilet floor looked like it had never been cleaned. There was a hole in the ceiling in the bar with a bucket under to catch a leak. Not enough bar staff so big queues. Tables and bar all covered in mess and spilled drinks. On a positive note the food in the restaurant was very nice and the staff are always friendly and professional.

Couldn’t get into my room, when I went down to ask why seemed someone had been in they was water and toothpaste in the sink. Waited at the bar for 10 minutes no one around to serve so went to the local pub a couple of mile away
