They no longer serve a free cooked breakfast but the continental breakfast they serve instead is plentiful and good. Otherwise it’s still great value for a clean and comfortable room. There’s easy, free on-street parking very close, as long as you’re moving your car by 9am

The room was basic but ok. Clean bed linen and clean towels. Ideal for a stopover.
Very disappointed that it was only on check in that it was only continental breakfast as the chef was on holiday. As it was free to cancel up until the day before I feel that the hotel should have contacted us prior to arrival so we had a choice if we wanted to continue with the stay or cancel and book somewhere else.
The hotel obviously would be aware in advance if they had given the chef holidays.

Walked by before seeing the sign to book in at TJ's bar.
The room was fine. I was on the top floor and it wouldn't be for someone who didn't like stairs.
Breakfast was taken in the bar was cereal and toast with some prepacked croissants and was decent.
For the price paid this was good.

Carpet was heavily and badly stained and walls had splashes of something on them. Light fixture by bed loose, light in bathroom didn't work. No cooked breakfast as advertised and didn't cater for GF guest at all. Bed was ok, pillows awful. Wouldn't stay here again.

Staff was great, polite and helpful. Breakfast was done well.
The room: shower water pressure was fantastic! Room location at front of the building was loud, at times, with street noise and a lot of sound coming up from the pub until the wee hours, especially on karaoke nights - beware!!
Carpet was very dirty and stained and seemed to lack being vacuumed for quite a while. The real negative was the bed. I grew up sleeping on a cheap, surplus army cot with a thin mattress for my entire childhood. That was luxury compared to the warped foundation and lumpy mattress with springs poking at all angles. A really, really bad bed in room 12!!

Filthy hotel, wipe your feet on the way out. Area outside full of druggies and alkies. Avoid this place . Luckily i got a refund and stayed some where else. False photos of the room too. Carpet filthy, room smelly and dirty, wouldnt even want my dogs in there that filthy.

The room was in a rundown state, multiple stains on the carpet, very very worn furniture. No net curtains/blinds on the window, just normal curtains. There was no heating and when asked about this they had known since last year the boiler was broken! A plug in heater was provided but it was a fire/safety risk as it was very hot to touch and my health means I can be unsteady on my feet. No cooked breakfast either morning as stated by staff upon check in. First morning I was told there was no chef, second morning I came down to the smell of cooked breakfast and a sign saying what could be ordered yet upon asking was told it was continental only! Got told this time it was because the kitchen had flooded! The continental consisted of a toaster with a loaf of bread next to it, a tray with croissants, little cereal boxes and milk left on the side unchilled and little yoghurts which were in a can fridge. It seemed that the staff were happy to be laughing and joking around with each other and people I can only assume were local regulars but not overly concerned that the hotel was not in a fit state to provide everything they say they can when booking. I questioned why they did not state the issues with the heating upon booking and got told they hadn't used it since the boiler broke and it takes ages to heat the rooms to see whichs rooms don't have heating! Not good enough in my opinion. The only thing good about this hotel was location and the shower being hot/strong.

My room was clean although a bit dated. Bathroom ceiling needs attention as the paint is all flaky. The window should have a curtain of some kind on it so not to feel so exposed after a shower or going to the toilet. I was in Room 15. Apart from that it suited my needs.

We stayed one night to break up a long drive. Booked on spur of moment. When checked through reviews i wondered if mistake. The lady who checked us in was lovely and friendly. The room was perfectly adequate for 1 night. Was very clean,bed linen spotless. Comfy beds the bathroom was possibly brand new. Cooked breakfast was very nice and had lovely sausages which isnt always the case.Was noisy as on busy st and trains over bridge. But slept well. Could do with some hooks on backs of doors,some of hotel could do with redecorating and new carpet. But at 48.00 including 2 English breakfasts whats not to love. Would stay again

I stayed at the Thomas James Hotel in Leamington Spa for a solo trip over a couple of days, and honestly, I’m not sure what the negative reviews are about.

The bed was so comfortable and my room was surprisingly spacious for a solo traveller, with a big separate bathroom that was immaculate. Everything was spotless and tidy. The amenities were thoughtful too – full tea and coffee station (with biscuits!), big TV, hairdryer, iron, and even an extension plug which is always handy.

Breakfast was included, and while it’s continental, I was impressed with the huge variety: pastries, cereals, fruit, bread, bagels, jams, spreads and more. My only small suggestion would be to offer wholemeal/grain options and some alternative milks – it’s just a personal preference, but it could make a difference for others.

The staff were genuinely lovely and helpful, and the value for money is excellent. The location couldn’t be better – just three minutes from the station, right on the high street, and a short walk to restaurants, cafes, shops, the Pump Rooms and even the cinema.

Next time I come to Leamington, I know exactly where I’ll be staying.

I booked a room with a 4 poster bed, it wasnt. When i said and showed booking clearly stating 4 poster bed, i was told, its not my job.
The shower tray floods so had to keep turning shower off.
Went down for breakfast and told no cooked breakfast on Monday, when I tried to explain that there was nothing during the booking process nor when checking regarding no cooked breakfast, I was told, by the rudest, arrogant, ignorant person I have encountered.....its not my job. The toaster wouldn't work so told by mardy arse that .....you guessed it, not my job. When i finally got to talk to the manager to explain the issues, mardy arse launched at my by shouting in front of everyone that it was, apparently, my problem. I asked her to walk away, the manager, in true Fawlty Towers style said she was learning English.....
The room was very noisy due to overlooking a very busy, noisy junction and nearby railway line. This place is 2 star at best and ideal for travellers who dont need a decent breakfast, dont need sleep and those that, god forbid want a smile.

The room was very small for a double room wall paper was ripped head board was hanging off the wall and you couldn't swing a cat in the shower room carpet was grubby and the chair in the room was well worn. Curtains had seen better days and if they had been a fire in the stair well there was no means of escape. The staff where pleasant and that would be the only positive from this visit.

Cheap and cheap for a reason. Staff are friendly enough. Booked a certain room but was given a different room on arrival. The room was very basic and a bit shabby but I have to say it was clean. The room I had was on the front with single glazed windows and the noise from the street was unbelievable until the early hours.
The breakfast was good, freshly cooked. Overall you get what you paid for but don’t expect much sleep! This was a Friday night so maybe different in the week.

Was unclear where to check in as main entrance was locked, had to call to be told to check in through the restaurant/pub next door. Was given a key and told where the room was, up some steep thin stairs, difficult to carry bag up even though it was only small. Room looked clean upon arrival although after setting items down and having a look the chair was disgustingly dirty and so was the remote covered in dirt and food. Chair has dirty sweaty stains on it so was put off from sitting on it to do my hair for an event. Bed possibly had bedbugs as i woke up with bites over me. The curtain in the room didnt keep light out and the pole that held it to thw side nearly came out the wall. No curtain in the bathroom window so was awkward to shower as people could look in from winfows adjacent. Water was very difficuot to get the temperature correct either too cold or scolding hot. Everytime the toilet was sat on the lid would make a clanking sound like it was going to fall off or break. Breakfast was supposed to be included but it took so long to be seen by anyone i gave up and dropped my keys in the box and walked out. Not worth the money i paid even though it was the cheapest I found in the area. Only good thing about it was that it was a very close walk to the train station where parking was also available at a cost

Great hotel! Excellent price and lovely staff. Very easy to check in and great central location.Also lovely breakfast in the morning. Only downside was noise from traffic outside and as it was very warm we needed to leave the window open. All in all would highly recommend!

Stayed 2 nights and didn’t sleep at all. Room was on a busy street and above the bar where there was noise and fights on the streets. Windows were not doubled glazed and had no blinds so had to close the so called curtains which were hanging off the pole so couldn’t even close them properly and having bright light right outside the window blinding you didn’t help. Plug sockets behind desk so had to pull desk out to plug your hair dryer or charge phone. Room was basic and dingy. Would not stay here again.

Value for money hotel to explore Leamington

One night stay. Convenient, central location. We parked around the corner- £4.50 for 24hours. We didn’t inform hotel of check in time but staff didn’t mind - they wondered why the instructions still included that. When we got back at 11.30pm it was rather loud from the bar below but we weren’t surprised by that considering other reviews and the fact that it was a Saturday but all was quiet from midnight. The room was airy and had a fan. Bed was comfortable and towels and linens all lovely. Continental breakfast was included. All in all very good for the price - would stay again!

The main point was fire alarm went off, I made my way to the meet point Iceland shop , in middle of night no one there .no staff in the morning knew anything .no fire service turned up .so someone was there to have checked and turned of panel but no info ,no care to the residents ....
I have emailed twice to hotel owners noting back ....
I reentered at my own risk as no care shown to us .

I would of overlooked the very silly grumpy rude women on at breakfast that spoke two words that was , after I said morning and explained last night was a foul look and a sharp no... Then a point to the menu and a sharp, \" breakfast!\"......? So I ordered

The hotel is above a bar which offers karaoke every Friday and Saturday until late into the night. This and being next to a railway bridge and on a T junction made it a very noisy stay. The staff were polite and friendly

I saw previous reviews and think some people just moan for the sake of it, my stay and twin room did exactly what it needed to, the room though basic , was adequate for our needs, yes, there were a few mouldy patches in the shower room, but you tend to get what you pay for in my experience.

So a climb of multiple flights of stairs but all good as room clean, small as expected, good quality linen and towering, comfortable single bed, ample clothes hanging space. Room bery compact but has compact, clean and modern en-suite with effective shower cubicle, we and sink. carpet is stained in multiple areas in room but for the price and location, and convenience, cannot fault. Breakfast also included with an 8.25am sitting. Cannot fault and will stay again.

There was sugar all round rim of cups that were stuck to the saucer.We was told to request full refund. Carpet was filthy, stained black chair which i couldn't sit on as it was filthy. A night's stay in Leamington for £48 with breakfast is fabulous value.
The check in was seamless and friendly. The room and bathroom were small but perfectly serviceable. The bed was comfortable.
The breakfast was small but very welcome after a night out!
The bar below the rooms was very busy. Fortunately my room wasn't directly over the bar but I imagine it could be noisy.
There is a public car park close by costing £3 for 24 hours.
For the price, I wouldn't hesitate in staying again.

Justify the price I paid.... 45£ for a night for 2 single double beds. Its okay to spend a night here but not suitable for kids as the room size is small. But the facilities were fine and at the city centre just beside the Railway station along with good breakfast that too included in price . Good to spend one night only.

Amazing price and great breakfast inckuded

For the price this place is amazing, with a really good English breakfast included in the room rate. You wouldn’t expect it to be luxurious, but it’s clean and perfectly comfortable. And that breakfast is really something when it’s included in the price

No problems with the hotel at all. It was clean and very good value compared to other hotels at the time. The hotels is close to the town centre. The included breakfast was much appreciated.

Very disappointing stay booked by my parents

Bathroom lights didn’t work, bed broken, stains all down the wall and tiny room at the top of 6 flights of stairs with no lift

Great price including full English breakfast

Thomas James is fantastic for the price, which includes full English breakfast. It’s not luxurious, but for that price you’d hardly expect it to be.

Property v convenient for my visit, and staff v friendly. However, I thought I had paid for my booking thru Expedia, but was charged by the hotel because they had no record of the transaction. Somebody needs to sort the admin a d communication. Will be checking with my credit carc company when I get home.

My stay was excellent and for the price its excellent value i would recommend the hotel. Only one thing to say is there is no lifts and the stairs are steep.
