Stayed before, and this time we had one of the rooms accessible from the rear carpark and was ideal family room for me and mate for a local event. Staff very friendly and the breakfast was great. Good location for local pubs!

The room was very spacious and clean with a Gothic or Baroque tone to it which would be in keeping with its time. Lovely staff brought my dinner from their amazing malaysian restaurant to my room as I was a bit tired that evening. The food was excellent. Great place, thankyou.

Despite a very friendly welcome on arrival, I find little to commend on both the hotel room nor the Raffles restaurant. Having stayed here a long long time ago and dined at the predecessor of the Raffles restaurant when it was located further down the road, I was REALLY looking forward to my return. I was bitterly disappointed

The ceiling is too thin to block any noise. I could not fall asleep sjmply because somebody upstairs was walking past midnight. I asked whether they could switch my room, bit it was impossible. Furthermore, there were two very short false fire alarms around 3 AM. I had a bad sleep. I canceled all my future stays at this hotel.

Breakfast limited and Full English was a very disappointing small portion for £12 - small egg, partial rasher of bacon, sausage, 1 mushroom chopped into several pieces, small pot of baked beans meaning you could count them and half a slice of black pudding. There was a family staying on the same floor leaving the doors open and children making a lot of noise. The shower didn’t work properly so was unable to have a proper wash. The TV remote was filthy, covered in food. Also there was a noodle in the bed.

I had an attic room, which could have been really cosy and comfortable. With a deep clean and a new mattress, this would be a lovely place to stay.

Room 110 reeked of smoke (curtains, carpets, blankets, pillows) making sleep impossible. The corridor outside the room provided a preview. After complaining I was moved to a different room that was much better. Both bathrooms were good though.

Unfortunately the carpet in room 302 seemed to have not been vacuumed and wasn’t in particularly good or clean condition also there was what appeared to be a small amount of dried faeces on the toilet seat.

The room itself was cold and the manager/proprietor was very defensive about this. Furthermore, he would not come to the room to switch on the heater. The heater eventually came on at 1.45 am (waking me up with its noise).
It is easy to see, therefore, that if the manager had been aware that I was arriving, he might have checked the room and switched the heater on so that the room was warm on my arrival. Had both these things happened, I might have had a much more favourable view of this hotel.
For the benefit of any readers of these comments, I would add that I prefer the room to be cool so if it is too cold for me, many travellers would find it impossibly cold.

The room was huge, plenty of space and the bed was comfy. The bathroom, whilst clean, was in poor condition, I.e. the bath had a large crack meaning we didn’t feel it safe to use during our stay. This was a shame as we don’t have a large bath at home and we would have liked to use it during our stay.

Had a very hot and uncomfortable room in the roof with no curtain (unless you count the torn net) over the tiny window, a bathroom that smelt awful and walls that meant I could turn my TV down and listen to the one from the next room.
Highlight for me was it being close by to the Indian Ark restaurant which provided an excellent curry one night.

The Hotel was situated near to the town plenty of parking. Staff was friendly but a long wait for toast at breakfast. The room was comfortable but the bathroom let it down. Needed a update round the bath was untidy.

The hotel could not provide me with a copy of the 'paid' invoice at the end of the stay because they had run out of paper. This typified it. Advertised breakfast times only meant were for a cold breakfast (which was not made clear). On one day the cook was late (20 min), the next day she was in a car accident; I gave up after 40 minutes. I still don't know if I paid for the breakfast that I didn't take because even after 3 reminders to the hotel via Expedia I have yet to receive a statement.
The good news. They kindly checked me in 1 hour early. The town if very nice. It's an old style hotel that, in part, is charming.

Tired hotel with shower not working.
The hotel is tired and needs some TLC. The room was comfortable. The shower wasn't working so I had to endure someone who had no idea checking the hot water in the sink for n electric shower and going through all the switches and dials I had already gone through. Eventually they gave me another bathroom to use which they had cleaned but not made up the bedroom. That was OK but then I got stuck in the bathroom because the door stuck in the frame. As a result I was late for my appointment and didn't get a coffee!! Not impressed.

The hotel is clearly being constantly upgraded and was very clean. My room was very small and the bathroom was exceptionally small. A large person would simply not be able to sit down on the toilet as there was only about 2 inches between the wall on one side and the shower on the other.
Room was serviced for my second night and toiletries refreshed.

Did not have room we booked available, the room door handle was broken and kept falling off, the toilet was stained and the seat did not fit, mouldy shower cubicle, carpets were filthy, heard every voice and the floorboards were severely noisy, the bedding was very thin including the pillows, and the toilet roll holder was nearly falling off. But on the bright side the hair dryer worked. Checked out a day early.

I often stay in the area midweek for work and always pick this hotel if they have space. Great location on the edge of town with onsite parking. The staff are friendly offering recommendation for the local area. The rooms are good value, clean & comfortable beds. Good Wi-Fi connection in every rooms I’ve stayed in.

The facilities are all very clean and the staff are friendly and obliging. Coming down to breakfast early, because I confused the days, I was served directly by a very helpful man before the chef was available, and it ensured that I was in good time for appointments.
The layout of the rooms within the hotel is convoluted, but I was readily provided with help in bringing equipment downstairs, and my case was safely stored on the day of my departure until I could collect it.
The hotel restaurant is worth checking for its lovely cuisine.

Were told breakfast was at 7am went down then told 7.30 am then told he was ringing the chef to see where she was couldn’t wait only got 50 per cent refund.Asked for extra duvet told none available.Waited nearly half an hour to be served at the bar with only one person in front of me.Drop the name peacock should be Faulty towers won’t be staying there again.

The room I booked was not available however the room allocated was beautiful. The mattress was a bit hard for me. The complimentary tray was very well stocked. Not bad for a budget hotel
Room was ok (apart from the hole in the bathroom ceiling). Had a good night's sleep. The beds were very comfortable and for a budget hotel we were pleasantly surprised. Bar was a bit poor. No draught. There's a pub over the road so we went there. Didnt eat dinner so cannot comment on that. The breakfast (£10) was ok but a bit small. Good to see they had a vegetarian option. You only get 1 egg, 1 sausage, 1 hash brown, 1 half tomato and 1 slice of toast. As much tea or coffee as you want though.

Despite asking for a gluten free breakfast they didn't have any gluten free bread or rolls so I had very little breakfast. The shower head holder was broken so I couldn't have a shower. The rim under the toilet hadn't been cleaned for a very long time. The bedroom decor was tired although the bed linen was clean, and the pillows were uncomfortable. The driveway has a sunken cover which was unsafe and easy to turn your ankle over on. Disapointing all round I'm afraid?
