When checking in I was told renovations were going on however wasn’t told this before I booked. I had to carry my heavy bags up and down many flights of stairs, for someone who suffers with fibromyalgia this wasn’t ideal and I ended up in a lot of pain which was unpleasant for me ! Hotel also very noisy. Such a shame as I’ve stayed here a few times before and loved it hence why I returned.

not a fan of village hotels just booked it as the most direct route to airport parking as event at NEC was making airport hotels expensive. Room too dark communal areas too busy. really creaky ceiling when person in room above us walked about food etc too expensive hate check in process

Staff were very polite. Room I was given (203), was nice but on one of the windows the latch was broken so even when closed, I could just push it open & the other window had a terrible draft coming in. I didn’t bother to advise staff till following morning & was told all the rooms are due a refurb. Not the best or worst hotel I’ve stayed in however, the window was a security risk

Picked this hotel for its pool and paid extra for a room that included pool access. But the pool area was so rammed it was unusable (I don't mean busy, I mean all seats in the sauna and steam room full, people standing against the walls in them to use every inch of capacity and more turning away at the door when they realised there was no space). Sure, this is partially due to the January gym rush, but why sell pool access to hotel guests in advance when it's obvious there's no capacity?

To get to the room required taking a lift up two floors, walking around the building, then descending stairs (or taking a lift) to another floor. We originally paid extra for a better room, with spa use but the facilities were so far away this was unreasonable. The receptionist was helpful and switched us to a nearer but lesser quality room but couldn't refund the difference (even though it was a cheaper room) because the price on the day wasn't cheaper than we had paid a week or so before. It really soured our stay.

Rooms are a good size, although ours was a long way from reception,
It’s nice to have a pool with the club room although this was very busy on Sunday evening.

Breakfast times were variable finished earlier than advertised on week days at 9am.
On weekend went for breakfast at 7am and told it didn’t open until 8am.

I was visiting with my children. Lots of noise in hotel and doors banging late in the night.
There was a really strong smell of marijuana in the hotel corridors.

There were a very roudy/noisy group of girls clearly drunk in the lobby when we got back on the Saturday which made the children worried.

However staff and security guards were very helpful and friendly.

As you walk in the smell of chlorine from the pool hit us strongly plus there was very loud music that evening as there were 2 big parties taking place. There were two security bouncers standing at the entrance - door. In all, not a great first impression.

Once upstairs you notice it looks run down and clinical - has a really outdated and basic vibe. The room whilst it was clean also feels really dated and very basic. Its also quite noisy as you can hear the traffic. And walls are so thin that we heard sounds throughout the night, including some sort of verbal fight going.

The good points
-Amazing huge gym which was fantastic, the massive pool, lots of hot tubs etc were all very nice. It basically felt like a very good sports facility with hotel rooms built around it!
-Free car park at the weekend.
-Bathroom is modern and bathroom has a good powerful shower.

Unlikely to stay again as we had a really poor sleep.

A huge thank you to Olivia on reception, who went above and beyond to help me during a really stressful situation. The office had booked me in for the wrong day, and to make things worse, the hire van I was driving had a faulty key — with my locked phone still inside!
Olivia didn’t hesitate to step in. She used her personal phone to help search for a solution, and thanks to her calm and proactive attitude, we managed to get it sorted. She was absolutely brilliant — a real asset to the Village team!
Also want to give a shoutout to the night staff, who were really helpful and friendly too.
Thanks again to everyone — you turned a stressful situation into a great customer experience. 👏

Horrendous Smell in 237

We arrived at 2230 and there was a party going on with loud music which did put us off as we were very tired from a whole day at a show. The receptionist was quite blunt and wanted me to tap my bank card but didn’t explain why, not something I’ve done before

We went up to our room and actually couldn’t hear the music from the party which we were relieved about

When we got into the room there was a card already in the electric slot and 2 fans were running. We were hit with a horrendous smell of stale tobacco smoke as though someone had smoked in the room. The window was open so assumed it was because of people smoking outside however we were facing a flat roof with no people outside

We eventually got to sleep as the bed was comfy but upon waking up it still had the horrendous smoke smell

In the light I could see there was dust on the headboard

We had tea and coffee which was good and the shower was good however all of it was over shadowed due to the smell

Key wouldn’t work so went reception told them room number he said no your room 504 not room 501 I was like that isn’t right he said yes you are went back room got it 504 was empty so panic on as all my stuff had gone so ran back to reception said you need to open 501 that’s my room he opened it and yes it was I’m disgusted the way I was treated

Let you know that we are not happy with Hotel.com. at First we have booked Hotel.com. it was stated that the price was £138 for 2 night. i have clicked the OneKeyCash of £42.26.
We should pay £95. we were so shocked when we saw at the statement saying that you have taken out £145 for 2 nights. we don't understand why Hotel.com charged us £145 instead of £95. we tried to get your call number via Typetalk.

Don’t expect early breakfast at weekends

Hotel itself was ok, room and bed were good and food was pretty good. Downside was breakfast didn’t start until 8 and still hadn’t opened gone 5 last with only one person slowly setting things up. I couldn’t wait any longer given the number of people now waiting but was then refused a refund for the breakfast they hadn’t provided

A rambling maze of a hotel, the upgraded club rooms are quite a distance away from the hotel lobby and you have to navigate across different levels which confused me a couple of time. My room wasn’t on the top floor, so I heard the heavy footed person in the room above move around. Facilities are excellent otherwise and my evening meal was very nice, Breakfast choice somewhat limited.

Hotel is tired , my room had marks in walls, scrapes on radiator and lots of hair and debris in the shower. The chairs in the pub had dirty marks on them, limited food choice if you wanted something with vegetables that wasn’t fried.

Plenty of parking which is free at the weekend so we were told at check in. Bar area nice & service was quick. Went down to see the pool/gym & staff just looked at us when we said we’d come for a look. We couldn’t access either due to barriers but staff continued with their conversation rather than see if they could help us out. Shame really as we may have gone for a swim, but wouldn’t consider paying for something we couldn’t see. The room was lovely, pillows & bed were great, shower amazing Shame no air con as despite 2 fans quite a difficult nights sleep due to being so hot. Would stay again if visiting the area.

We used the self service machine to check-in, which was slow but a friendly staff member quickly jumped in to help making it much easier. The room was quite far from the main entrance & upon walking into our room we quickly realised we had no air con! A tall fan was provided but on the highest setting it barely did anything! I asked at reception if we could have another fan for room 602? She said they would deliver one to our room but never did! Other guests made a load of noise outside our room ver early and woke us!

Great location, good price and super accessibility to reliable bus service. Restaurant was excellent! Very tasty food; we enjoyed breakfast buffet which had a wide variety of selection; we ordered various entrees at supper which were always satisfying. We stayed four nights and found the room to be very warm and rather humid. We appreciated the fan but it did not do much to cool off the room. I was surprised at the lack of USB chargers and facecloths, and that there was no stand or space for luggage. We asked for extra hangars which helped reduce the mess from my pile of clothes on the floor. Thanks for a nice introduction to the UK for this Canadian.

Room was ok, fire door bar on our room came off and nearly hit us. The beaded rope for the blinds also fell apart so we had to roll blinds up. Food was ok, same old as every other pub but no gluten free option for friend ( it’s pretty common now to accommodate everyone) pool was fine, public areas were fine, staff were friendly. Possibly wouldn’t stay again.

Very nice room, comfortable bed and loved the little touches on arrival. The food was excellent and pool was great.

My tv didnt work for channels in my room, it was late so i didnt call anyone to sort it, so im not complaing about that as i used my laptop, just noting it.

Floorboards in the bathroom are starting to lift i assume from water from the shower

This village hotel looked tired in the corridors etc & the bathroom was a little dated although clean. There was little customer service received when checking in to the swimming pool as a hotel guest.. no directional signs to family change or instructions on where to go. Swimming pool was good… slippery on poolside and in the poolside showers though. Good check in and out service- very quick.
