Had a double room - 2 singles pushed together (standard), but no mattress topper so very uncomfortable with just a sheet and the beds seperately just slightly though the night. Pillow felt old and did not have any support.

Only 1 small towel in the room (discovered on getting ut of the shower!)

Room was very clean and tidy these bits let the stay down

Hotel and room were very nice, however a hidden parking cost was not appreciated. Was told I needed to pay for parking at reception on arrival, when I mentioned to manager(?) that evening that it showed that parking was free both on Expedia and their official website he said it was a new charge that they obviously hadn't updated online, but was given no choice but to pay or leave (hotel is on a main road near no other options!)

The room was a little run down, cracks on walls. Bathroom was mouldy between tiles, pillows were very soft and you could the pipes banging due to heating or hot water. The main hotel facilities were very good but vault 52 was closed due to refurbishment which I couldn’t see on hotel details and had to pay for parking

Breakfast was great. Good that there was a pool but the changing room lockers couldn’t be locked. Had to ask for some of the bedding to be changed as it didn’t look fresh. Room was good but the insulation from the upstairs room wasn’t very good. Spent my first hour in bed listening to people walking around above me. All in all though a pleasant place to stay.

Check in was smooth but the male attendant wasn't very informative.
Our room was seperate from the main hotel in a Butlins style set-up, a short walk away from reception.
Parking was available directly outside our chalet which was convenient, and the surrounding gardens were very well maintained.
Our room was small and looked tired, with a desperate need for modernisation. The carpet and skirting boards were dirty and the furniture appeared worn and outdated. There was a lack plug sockets and no USB direct chargiing points. My husband found a 4 plug extension cable hidden behind the bedside cabinet, so we utilised this. Therefore, we only had phone charging capabilty on his side of the bed.
The shower room also looked tired, with the ceiling fan half hanging out, & the mirror edgeing desilvered.
The water from the hot tap was scalding hot, and the shower was running only cold water on our first day. We subsequently had to go to the Spa within the main hitel to have a shower. We did complain about this and the nice gentleman at reception said that he would come over and check it.
The following morning, we did manage to have a shower in the room, but the water was tepid, and then ran cold afterwards.
The Spa/leisure area was ok, but could also do with a makeover (for example, the first shower I walked into had no water coming through & the jacuzzi was connected to the main pool, so was cold. The steam room had minimal steam, so wasn't very effective. More like a 2/3 star hotel

Check in was very slow and was initially told there was no booking for me. Then the booking was found after a few minutes after a lot of awkward whispering between reception staff which made me feel uncomfortable.
The room was not part of the main hotel complex and was in an outbuilding, the rear wall of which was less than 10 feet from a busy dual carriageway. With all the sound insulation of a baked bean can, I had the worst night sleep I've ever had and would have been better sleeping in the car. The bed was uncomfortable and the shower periodically scolded me at random points during the shower.
The food in the cellar bar provided much amusement between myself and my colleagues due to the small portion size of the fish and chips... at least this provided some fun. I would never stay here again and it's a good reminder to always do your homework before you book. I have arrived for an important meeting feeling like I've been camped out on the hard shoulder of a motorway in a 2 man tent....

The comfort of the bed was wonderful and ensured a really good night’s sleep.
However the service in the restaurant was very slow. It took over an hour for them to serve our main course, and my belly of pork, although the crackling was good, the meat was so burnt underneath that the crackling was easier to break up than the base of the portion.

The room was comfortable with signs of aging in the bathroom. The Spa was very nice and clean.
The food in the restaurant was mixed. Apple pie wasn’t cooked and the chef was very rude with a whatever attitude even though he agreed it wasn’t cooked. Then they still charged me for it. The breakfast was very cheap.

Greeted by very friendly staff on arrival and throughout our stay, spa and gym facilities were very good, just had to go back upstairs after gym to see if towels were available as told by spa staff luckily the hotel manager was very helpful and kindly got us clean towels. The lodge was very clean but unfortunately the bed was very uncomfortable as it was two singles pushed together. Alongside this there was a loud humming noise from the bathroom which meant we had an uncomfortable nights sleep
Everything else was very good. I will be staying again but I would request a different room if available

Check in and check out was super friendly. My requests was met which we really appreciated. All the staffs that we came across was very helpful, served us with a smile and very professional. Good spa facilities, although can be busy due to the school holidays. Breakfast was very very tasty and lots of good quality fresh fruits . 10/10 . Fantastic if you’re into playing Golf. Check in was okay, i did request a ground floor, walk in shower (due to a recent knee replacement) which was not upheld.
The service was superb.
The room offered was okay, dated, shabby in style but functional.
Shower in bath was difficult to navigate.
Spa /gym was nice, changing area slightly delapidated with non locking lockers.
food in cellar bar was delicious and again the service superb.

It was very noisy in the night, toilet couldn’t flush had to keep flushing repeatedly like 4-5 times before it could flush. Bed was extremely soft ordered a double-bed room they put two single-beds together which is not acceptable bedsheet was dirty on arrival. Wouldn’t recommend.

I stayed at the hotel for a wedding. The wedding was fantastic. It was the hottest day of the year, but fortunately the party room was air conditioned. The food was delicious and the staff were lovely. Our room was small and in the eaves and was very hot. There was a fan but it was very ineffective.

The hotel has nice surroundings and fancy decor in the reception and restaurants. However, the room decor is dated and the toilet didn’t flush properly. The main issue for me was the toilet hadn’t been cleaned properly when I checked in. The guy on reception was very friendly though and told me housekeeping would fix it. The breakfast was nice.

The hotel room had no a/c and was the temperature of a volcano. It also lacked in plugs especially by the beds. Can’t charge your phone at your beside side unless you take the lamps out of action. The shower was either boiling hot or cold from one to the other or just cold no warm water at all. Very nice views over the golf course and the service was 100%. The staff couldn’t do enough for you.

Mixed feelings part 1

We had a wonderful and relaxing time at Windmill Village Hotel, Golf & Spa for the most part.

The grounds were beautiful and well kept.

After checking in, my wife and I went to our room which initially was very inviting but after unpacking we soon realised that there were only two sockets above a bedside cabinet, only one of which was working. The room offered coffee and tea making facilities which would have required moving the kettle and boiling it on said bedside cabinet.

After mentioning this to a member of staff at reception we were given another room and I'm happy to say that it had four working sockets 😁.

The spa facilities were great and all areas were clean. A very good size pool and gym. The sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were of a good size too.

When we were in the bathroom getting ourselves ready on the last day of our stay, Sunday, to our surprise we found an army of ants crawling around the basin and on our toiletries. Not the sight with which we expected to be greeted. We had to move our toiletries into the bedroom after shaking the ants off them.

On our last morning which was on a Sunday we visited the spa to use the facilities as on the two previous days only to be told that they had run out of towels and that their next delivery of fresh towels would be on the coming Tuesday. The staff member suggested that we should either go to our room and use our towels from there or ask a member of staff at the hotel reception to give us two towels.

Room we stayed in definitely needs an upgrade. Uneven mattress, carpet needs changing and furniture is very stained and old. Bar area, golf course and the swimming pool was great. Staff service was questionable at times - spa didn’t have towels or padlocks for the lockers, you’d expect that sort of stuff to be provided or made very clear on there website or when booking. To buy a padlock it would be a 10 minute drive away! Won’t be staying here again.

We have stayed at the Windmill many times and it is reasonable value for short stays. However lately its age is showing and is looking tired.
This trip was disappointing as our room had only one towel, one cup etc. we asked for more towels and were told they would try to get some but there were no staff. After an hour we went to front desk but were told they didn’t have them.
Thankfully they were in our room when we got back that evening.
Good breakfast, easy parking and great for golf.

Arrived after 4 hours of travelling to a very unwelcoming male receptionist, no smile, no greeting and rather than give information I had to pull it out of him.

Room was very tired and outdated, the room had an electrical extension lead sitting on the floor, which was used for the television but I also had to use it to plug the kettle in, but this had to sit on the floor and boil as it wouldn’t reach the extension lead safety. The bathroom door was an old fashioned wooden door with a latch and had layers of dust on the door as well as the corners of the floor, so felt unclean. However, the room was right next to a very busy road but we didn’t hear any traffic and it was very quiet.

Didn’t get a chance to use the spa or pool as arrived later than expected due to Friday traffic, but did eat in the Cellar bar - after asking several times they couldn’t find a kids menu so ended up sharing a pizza with my daughter from the main menu, Caesar salad arrived without any Caesar dressing but they were happy to provide it when asked.

We enjoyed the breakfast, it was taken in the lovely main restaurant, all self-service but (apart from pancakes) had everything we needed. The grounds and area around the hotel were kept lovely, just a shame about the bedrooms.

I’m afraid I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again.

Excellent stay from start to finish. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Price for meals a little on the high side but were well prepared and presented.
Included breakfast with our package and was not dissapointed as plenty of choice. Rooms a little dated but who stays in their room all day. Very good leisure facilities. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends and relatives.

Arrived to find no shower curtain, not properly equipped and not very clean. Spoke to reception, who were very helpful and they kindly gave us another room.

Sadly, that had no working TV, the plug in sink didn't work, so overflowed and the hairdryer broken.

Staff were lovely and the bed was comfy.

Used the spa facilities - yuk. Wont be going back.

Breakfast was average.

Such a shame as this could be a lovely place to stay with wonderful views over the golf course and lake. Just needs updating and a good refurbishment.
