Staff is a delight. Breakfast was a delight. We arrived having difficulty looking for parking. But the kind staff went to help us find parking at a gated area. It was good that it was Saturday. Crowded but not too crowded. I ordered hot apple tea after dinner outside of the hotel. When I was to pay, the staff told us that it was on the house. Cozy and quite unique dining area. The vibe was like I was in the mountains. I am a mountaineer. It felt like a happy mountain hotel. Really close to the Basilica of St. John's and less than a mile walk to the Temple of Artemis. The downside was that they are workingbon the roads this winter.

Young man at reception very helpful trying to get our flight to Ankara changed after airline changed our departure time. Also booked us taxi to Ephesus (long way to walk) & transfer to airport for following day. Need more than 1 night here. Lovely room with balcony. Fantastic breakfast, very generous serve. 1 min walk from selcuk station which you could take direct TCDD train service from Izmir airport There are restaurant and cafe around hotel, very convenient Though is a small hotel, it has what a traveller need No lift, but staff very kind to help bring luggages up and down when checking out. Breakfast is excellent as bread is freshly bake and though it start at 8am, they accomodated to our tour schedule for breakfast at 7.30am. Strongly recommended

Elektrical outlets are in the most inconvenient places. Electrical wiring in the bathroom is like an elementary school student project. Sink is not really attached to the wall. However, very nice staff and a good lication, which is a compesation for the disappointing common conveniences.

The hotel is conveniently located less than 5 mins to the train station that goes to the Imir airport. Breakfast was delicious and served hot every morning. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Zafer kindly helped with luggage (there is no lift in the hotel) and transport, with a smile on his face. The lady who makes breakfast packed my breakfast for me in a bag to go when i had to leave early for day trips and my flight. I was hardly in my home with so much to see but it felt warm and homely.

It’s a good basic hotel. There’s a lot of restaurants around that are open late. It’s really close to Ephesus. There are a lot of stairs though, which makes bringing up luggage a little difficult. Breakfast was good.

Wonderful and welcoming!

Fantastic local hotel in the heart of Selcuk. Walking distance to great restaurants and shops. A short drive to the attractions. Hotel staff are absolutely welcoming and are ready to make every aspect of your stay perfect. Bed was comfortable. Room and all public areas were clean—especially for COVID. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony each evening. The Turkish breakfasts are a must-have! Shower is a little tight by American standards but not anything that should stop you from staying here.

Location was right at the town centre with a lot of good food options. One of the best and tasty breakfast that we had in turkey. Lot of information regarding places to visit was available at the hotel reception. Would definitely recommend this place. Please be mindful on the unavailability of lift at the property. Nevertheless value for money and a nice property.

Within walking distance from the train station and lots of cafes and shops nearby. Hosts are very friendly and breakfast is deliclious.

The room is abit rundown and small but still comfortable to stay. We have a balcony which can sit back and enjoy people watching.

One drawback is the toilet sliding door. The glass panels are abit transparent which basically can see from outside.

Our 4 night stay at the Urkmez Hotel was exceptional from the minute we arrived. The very warm welcome made us feel like we were visiting friends, and that friendly atmosphere only increased as we got to know the helpful staff. The location was superb. Owners Jimmy & "Juju" spoke perfect English and were very attentive. Our room was spotless, bed was comfy, there were ample hot water and heat, and the abundant Turkish breakfast was fantastic. We would highly recommend the Urkmez Hotel for anyone visting Selcuk and nearby Ephesus.

Lovely experience at Selcuk Urkmez Hotel!

The stay at the hotel was very comfortable. The rooms are basic, but they are very clean and adequate for a short stay, considering one might be spending most of the day at Ephesus and doing other sights..the location is also great...plenty of eating options right below the hotel, also the bus stop for Izmir, Kusadasi and Pamukkale is a 5 min walk. The manager and owner of the hotel Junaid deserves a special mention for his helpful attitude and friendliness to international tourists. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for a neat place to rest the night.

A little Slice of Selcuk

Urkmez hotel a great value for money hide away. Located 10min walk from Bus station and a 5min hop, skip an jump from train station, nestled between 2 Alley ways. I found it to be wonderful basic no frills hotel with a secure well appointed room with the bonus of a kettle. My rooms balcony overlooked one of the alleyways where the aromas of the street eatery's wafted upward to tempt you and the street noise of daily life filtered through, all easily closed out by shutting double glazed sliding door. Breakfast was basic Turkish fare all freshly prepared. Would recommend the Urkmez to all and looking forward to my next visit. Thanks again to jimmy and his lovely Mum and Dad for making feel welcome.

Nice family-run hotel close to the heart of Selcuk

The proprietor and his close-knit family run this hotel together, and treat guests as an extension of their family. "JuJu" is very helpful and tries his absolute best to provide guests with the best possible information and services. Don't expect to get impersonal 5-star facilities; what you get here is literally personal attention and 5-star service. Ask Juju to tell you about the cat that went home. :)

we arrived in the early morning, and the host just invited us for the free breakfast, as soon as we finished the meal, the room is ready for us, there is no lift but the staff are really nice to help us for the crazy heavy big luggage.
the location is not too far from the bus station,supermarkets, restaurants are all around, and also they will give you a free ride to the station. its really useful help. and you also can ask for the host for the food recommend.

The kindest most beautiful staff you could meet

I came to Selcuk when it was a backpacker haven 28 years ago.
This time I came with my husband.
We travel by bus, and between the station and the hotel 6 people asked if they could help us. We liked Selcuk immediately.
We've been traveling for 8 months and I can honestly say that Cem, Cuneyt, and all their staff in particular Tayfun. Were the kindest, most generous hoteliers we have come across.
They enjoy what they are doing and it wears off on everyone. There is always lots of laughter and fun and smiling faces whenever you come in.
In fact it wasn't like we were staying in a hotel, it was like coming home to friends.
The breakfast was superb and made by the most gorgeous wee woman
Everyday when we came back to our room I'd burst out laughing, as the lovely lady who cleaned the rooms arranged towels like I've never seen before, but always with humour.
It's the first time we've ever stayed anywhere, that I was so sad to leave.
Hoping that if any of you fancy a trip to Scotland, that you'll come and stay
Thank you we had an amazing time

Nice Stay in Urkmez Hotel & Great Staff!

I am solo travelling to Turkey. As a woman travelling alone, I felt safe and comfort staying in Urkmez Hotel during my time in Selcuk. The location of the hotel is perfect with many restaurants, gift shops, bank, atm machines nearby. Some of historical places and bus station can be reached on foot. The staff of Urkmez Hotel are friendly, helpful, and informative. They helped me arranging my tour and my transportation back to Airport at last minute. I really appriciated the hospitality of the staf and enjoyed my staying in Urkemz Hotel. I highly recommend the hotel and definitely would love to stay in the hotel again if I visit Selcuk.

Urkmez/Ephesus Suites Hotel

Urkmez is run by the same family as Ephesus Suites Hotel - we were offered a free upgrade to the latter as numbers of visitors to Turkey has seriously dropped and all the hotels are struggling. We had a fabulous stay. Our whole trip has been fantastic and people very friendly and helpful everywhere. Ephesus Suites is so beautiful, lovely location on the edge of the city, opposite the site of Temple and easy walk to St John's Basilica and town centre. Wonderful hospitality, great breakfast. Cannot commend highly enough.

Had my own private balcony for viewing St John's Basilica and the castle. Very nice staff, and they have very good buffet breakfast. They will cook your eggs to order if requested. The view from the breakfast room was amazing. You see the ruins, mountains and the sea. The hotel is located central to shopping and restaurants.

Noisy room but friendly and helpful staff

We had a room by the street and it was very noisy at night. There was also a mosque across the street so the prayer calls early in the morning were loud (this is inevitable given the location of the hotel).

The toilet doors were broken and the toilet light bulb blew on the first night, leaving us without electricity for the night. However, the staff fixed the bulb immediately after we informed them. In additon, only shampoo and hand soap were provided.

The breakfast was good, with the menu changing slightly every morning and the fruits being generally fresh. The hotel also has a good location that is near Ephesus. Eateries are easily found in the vicinity too. Moreover, the hotel staff were mostly friendly and helpful. The in-charge drove us to the train station so that we did not have to walk far and miss our train!

This hotel is quiet, and that is something difficult to find in Selcuk. The owners are very friendly. The room was small, but OK. The breakfast was Turkish with no hot eggs but pleasant on the rooftop.

More a hostel than a hotel

We arrived at the hotel after a day exploring Ephesus and struggled a bit to find it as there's no direct access if you arrive by car.
Reception was very friendly and helped carry our luggage as there's no lift.
Room very basic and small with a terrible bathroom (our door didn't close). The beds are comfortable but could do with better linen.
Breakfast was limited although the views from the dining room were the highlight of our one-night stay.

Adorable staff; feels like upscale youth hostel

Urkmez Hotel is ideally located near the city center. Staff was adorable (they helped us organize our trip to Ephesus, gave us free water and even gave us a crash course on Turkish pop music!)

The room was comfortable enough. However, there was no hot water. Strangely, we were not provided with a sheet. Our bed only had a fitted sheet and a blanket. When we asked for a sheet we were given a second fitted sheet.

Overall Urkmez felt more like an upscale youth hostel than a hotel.

Very helpful and friendly staff. A wonderful stay for a friends daughters 1st Holy Communion at Our Lady's Church. Fantastic day. Only spoiled by the price gouging at the SMYRNA BAR next door, nothing to do with the hotel.
Charged almost double for Turkish,not imported drinks. We live also in Bitez, Bodrum.
The prices there are much cheaper, but then again we were TOURISTS.
Would return to Selcuk but not the SMYRNA BAR.

a gem of a small hotel with the friendliest staff

This hotel has the most comfortable beds, proper divans with snowy white bedding and two big squishy pillows. Although the rooms aren't large they are airy and spotlessly clean with air conditioning included and wonderful views over the town, it's roman viaduct with it's nesting storks, St Johns Basilica and castle from the balcony.
The staff are the most friendly and helpful we have ever met and really did everything they could to enable us to enjoy our stay in Turkey. With genuine advice and assistance on any subject along with water, coffee or tea whenever we came in. One evening they even went out and bought us some special baklava cakes that they we're telling us about.
The buffet breakfast served on the roof terrace was plentiful and included some new Turkish dish everyday.
We stayed for two weeks and will return as Selcuk is central and has good transport links to Ephesus and many other ancient sites.
There are many good restaurants and bars in the surrounding streets that serve excellent and inexpensive meals.

We truely enjoyed our stay for two nights. Everyone at this hotel was extremely friendly and i am so pleased with their accomodation. Taepung was amazing! He kept his smiles every morning and tried to help us in any way possible! I felt like at home because everyone was willing to help you at any time of the day! This Hotel is in a great location: close to the train station, delicious eateries. The hotel staff are extremely helpful, the room was clean, spacious and had a balcony. Delicious buffe Breakfast was served on the roof top terrace.

Overall it was a good experience, very good location just few blocks away from the bus station, a lot of restaurants and shops arround, very helpful staff they even showed us where to buy baklavas.

Stayed for 4 nights, it was fantastic! The location is excellent, very close to train station, bus depot and all the tours. The neighbourhood is cozy and has everything you need. The hotel has been well maintained and clean. I think it is typical of the region. It's not the hilton, but it's more traditional and comfortable. Clean. No bed bugs or anything. The staff is absolutely fantastic, always friendly and all speak English. I would definitely return in the future. Thanks urkmez!

Very Friendly Hotel Owners

The owners were VERY friendly. It is a small hotel, but that was expected by the description online. I didn't care that it was small because I was there to visit the town not the hotel. The family that owns the hotel was incredibly helpful and very hospitable. The dad even woke up at 5am to drive me to the Izmir airport so I could catch my early flight back to Istanbul. Would recomend to anyone going to Ephesus for a day trip.

Great hotel, close to Ephesus and train station

This is a great little hotel, about a 2-minute walk from the Selcuk train station. It's also about a 3-block walk to the bus station, where you can catch buses to Ephesus (which is only about 3 km away).

The staff at the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful, and our stay was made extra special by one particular staff member named Tayfun. He was very helpful, from carrying our luggage up and down the stairs, to helping us with direction to local sights, to serving us tea and helping us relax. He was always there when we needed help. He even carried our bags back to the train station for us when we were leaving.

The hotel was nice and clean, and the room was cozy with a decent private bathroom. The beds had nice duvets and were comfy for sleeping, and the wifi worked well in our room. We also had a small balcony with a great view of the mountains. The morning complimentary breakfast was amazing...coffee, tea, juice, hard boiled eggs, cheeses, breads, jams, homemade cemen (chile paste - the best that we had in Turkey), fruit, and other dishes like tomato/pepper with aubergine, etc. It was delicious to wake up to every morning, and it's served on the top floor with a great view of the rising sun and mountains.

We highly recommend this hotel for an affordable and nice place to stay!

Overpriced for the low standard of hotel

The hotel is very convenient to the train station and is located in the heart of Selcuk. The hotel has three positives: extremely helpful staff, home-cooked breakfast and comfortable, clean beds. Otherwise the hotel is terribly disappointing. The bathroom was terribly small and had horrible tiling. The room smelt musty and badly needed renovation. We tried to spend as little time as possible at the hotel as it was so unappealing.

Great location, even greater staff!

We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. We planned to train into Selcuk and catch a bus from Ephesus so were after a hotel close to both. It was walking distance to both the train and bus station, a couple on minutes from the train, probably 5 minutes walk to the bus station.

It was easy to find the evening we arrived on the train, close to streets with food (mini-mart type shops and restaurants), and quiet streets on either side of the hotel. We actually went down the wrong street initially (because the hotel takes the width of the block) and appreciated the easy to see sign saying the entrance was on the opposite side. It was also next to some arch ruins that are right in the middle of town.

A wonderfully warm welcome from the young man who checked us in, it was quick and he was joyful and happy to give tips for around the town.

Based on the price we were expecting a very 'budget' room, however it was better than we were expecting. It had a modern tv, wifi, comfy bed, great location etc. The bathroom was small, but had everything you need in a bathroom including a shower with warm water. We were very happy with breakfast- cereal, fruit, cheese, bread, yogurt, juice, coffee etc. We felt it was really good value for money.

What really made our experience was the staff. In the morning we met the owner who was a friendly helpful man. The hotel was happy to hold our bags while we visited Ephesus and when we returned the owner offered to help us with the bus to Ismir. W

Fantastic staff, room OK

First, the staff members at the Urkmez are outstanding. Very, very helpful, cheerful. Just great people. My room was only OK. I was alone. The bathroom, in particular, needed work. It was very small and a little shabby. The floor had a permanent puddle underfoot.

Excellent location in the heart of town with plenty of food and shopping at the doorstep. Staff were very helpful and friendly. However the room was disappointing, especially the cramped and run-down bathroom with a wobbly toilet.
