Established in Cassis for many years, it is a place apart — a place with its own history, setting, charm, and architecture. A 1970s-inspired building nestled within a slightly wild garden, where nature lies somewhere between the Mediterranean and the jungle, embracing a uniquely shaped swimming pool surrounded by Italian sun loungers that have already inspired many imitations.
This is a hotel in constant motion, one that we continue to evolve every day so it remains enjoyable, rock’n’roll, and glamorous throughout the year. A hidden gem of a hotel. Absolutely adored the property. Warm greeting on our arrival, beautifully clean rooms, lovely swimming pool and surrounding area - lots of greenery. Steps down to the little town. Had an incredible time here. Highly recommend and will definitely return. And recommend to family and friends.

The hotel Royale was perfect for my stay in Cassis. The staff was friendly and professional, my room was clean and had a beautiful view. The bed was comfortable, the floors were clean, and the bathroom was spotless! The café was delicious. The front desk staff was especially helpful, courteous, and thoughtful.
As a solo traveler, this place was ideal. I felt safe in the hotel, in my room, and walking back-and-forth to the main village in the evening.

I found the Royal Cottage to be clean and have a convenient location. They had a nice pool that closed early and served breakfast that required a 24h notice if you were to order. It seems as if the staff were to be more convenienced than the guests.

Once I found the property (GPS had it on the wrong side of the road) I was quite happy with the location. It does not have some of the amenities I am used to (in-room coffee) and shower that doesn't flood the bathroom, but being able to walk to the city center made up for it. The front desk staff were wonderful!

Very friendly staff, room was basic but comfortable - its not often you find a hotel room with a really comfortable bed! The cleaners were amazing, everything was spotless and smelled beautiful. Just a couple of minutes walk from the harbour. We sat by the pool and the gardens are lovely. The only small gripe was that the mini-bar fridge wasnt cold and didnt cool anything (we had milk in it)

The hotel has a beautiful property offering a nice view of the city from the pool. We got a room with a \"balcony\" but basically were given a room on the first floor right next to the elevator that had a small terrace. Not great for privacy, the room was a bit cramped and had a bit of a smoky odor. It was totally fine for the one night that we were there but I wouldn't have wanted to stay longer.

A little disappointed with the hotel as the room had a sliding door with a huge crack in it and the walls were very thin with a lot of noise from the room above. However, the view was great and the staff were friendly. The free parking is a bonus, minutes away from the centre of Cassis

The hotel pool is truly lovely, very clean and plenty of loungers and parasols. The pool toilet and changing room were clean but there was no soap or towels for hand washing.
The free loan of pool towels was convenient as was the free on site parking. We had a room with a small patch of sea view which was lovely.
The breakfast is comprised of fruit, yogurt, nice selection of bread and jams, croissants and pan au chocolat, boiled eggs, and cereal (just coco pops and corn flakes)- some nice muesli would have made this a very special breakfast. The staff were very helpful with my dairy allergy- buying in soya products specially for me, and allowed us a kettle in the room - we had to provide our own cups and tea bags.
All in all a nice place to stay, quite expensive for a three star hotel, but perhaps normal for the area.

Comfortable but outdated hotel about an 8 minute walk from the marina (downhill from the hotel and uphill back to the hotel). Service from front desk was mixed depending on who was working.
Room was okay - highlight was the balcony with great views of Cassis. Bathroom and shower were uncomfortable.

We only stayed 2 nights in the hotel Royal cottage but it was fantastic. As we arrived at the hotel on our first day, we were surprised by the fact, that the receptionist could speak fluently German. The staff was hospitable at all times and the receptionist immediately filled us in on the varied activities you could do in Cassis and gave us some more information referring to the hotel. Our room was tidy, spacious and the main bathroom was decent sized. However, the best thing about our room was undoubtedly the enormous balcony with its stunning view and the huge outdoor pool. The hotel definitely exceeded our expectations and so did the village Cassis, which we fell in love with right away. In the immediate proximity to Cassis are dozens of fantastic spots to snorkel, the limestone cliff was wonderful and the harbor in the center of the village was just lovely. Those events combined with the splendid hotel definitely made it an unforgivable stay and if we had the chance, we would definitely book it again.

Our two boys had bunk beds in an adjoining room. The breakfast was an additional charge and was very extensive and well presented. Absolutely love Cassis! Decent hotel about 8 mins walk from the centre of Cassis. Nice views from the terrace, continental breakfast is fine, if a little basic. Rooms are average size but have balconies with table and chairs.

We got in late after a very long travel day to this lovely area so we went straight to the hotel to check in and go to sleep. The internet did not work that evening or in the morning before we checked out, but the staff was friendly and helpful and we loved the area. It was a good value for both the area anf what it offered. The rooms were not small and they were very comfortable. Would stay again.

Quiet Location near town and car park
Royal Cottage was nicely positioned just out of town so was quiet and had a nice pool. But it was one of the higher price hotels in Cassis, presumably since it provided free car parking in a busy summer holiday town. My reason to go to Cassis was to explore the surrounding natural areas, but was not impressed when loaned a small towel with several holes in it when I asked for a beach towel since it was more like a rag. The pool towels were nice however, as was the pool. The patio was also lovely even without a view. However, if you don't need a free car park I would not recommend staying at this hotel which was rather pricey for its level of service, but the price was also to be expected in a busy summer town.

Arrived at 4:00 but had to wait 20 minutes for our room to be ready. Not the end of the world, but mildly irritating. Front of house staff were pleasant though not particularly friendly. Our room faced the pool and had a nice balcony. The room was clean and generally well kitted out.

My husband and I just stayed at The Royal Cottage July 27&28 2016 and had a wonderful time! Alexia, Eugenie, Philippe and Martine were all so friendly and welcoming!
These are new owners and they are wonderful. They have made this hotel great! Everything is so clean. Every detail taken care of. The pool and grounds are beautiful. We had a lovely room with a balcony and comfy bed and nice amenities. Yummy, fresh breakfast.
We arrived early so we had lunch by the pool. A delicious BBQ steak and fries and fresh salad and chocolate surprise dessert and local wine. Melissa took care of everything at the snack shop and did a great job. It was so nice to walk back after a great day in town at the shops and a boat tour of the beautiful Calanques and relax in the pool and then walk back to town for dinner. We would highly recommend this hotel!

A pleasant hotel. Good parking with barrier. Short walk to the town/ beach ( up hill on return). The hotel has a warm feeling about it. We did not have breakfast there but did make use of their coffee/ tea machine at €3 a shot. The major problem was that the swimming pool was unavailable. It was being completely rebuilt and will be fantastic when finished. We were not informed of this and this spoiled our stay there. We should have been informed.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay here. The reception was open 24 hours (contrary to impression given elsewhere), and the family room was ideal for us (2 adults plus children aged 14 and 10) and clean. Good air-conditioning. It was a pleasant 10-minute walk down through the town to the beach, and the location was very quiet. As we arrived by train, we were anxious about getting to the hotel, since the station is a little way out of Cassis, but there is a sign in the station forecourt giving the phone number of a taxi firm. The staff were uniformly friendly and spoke English but were also tolerant of foreigners' French. Breakfast was a good way of setting us up for the day, and good value. The pool area was nice and not busy; the gym rather basic. We would happily stay in this hotel again.

We had a great time. The hotel was perfectly situated and the staff very friendly. Would have given straight 5's all the way but minor signs of wear to the room and whilst the main bed was very comfortable the fold out bed from the chair was ok but not fantastic. We had a sea view from our terrace which was lovely and south facing so had sun all day.

The friendly staff were the main impression that i was left with with this hotel. The room itself was fine, a reasonable size overall and was kept very clean etc by the staff during our stay. The gardens were very cleverly done, with a lot a little nooks and crannies to sun bathe in without feeling too self concious and the little pool area was charming even if the little pool was too small really for any real swimming but you do have the Med just a 15 min walk away. i would feel bad writing anything negative but in the interest of balance i would say that being 15 min away from the beach etc was a slight downside but you can't have everything. the upside of its location was that it was nice and quiet. i found the breakfast buffet a bit confusing with the pricing but the staff were very nice about it.

This is a great boutique hotel in Cassis about 25 km from Marseilles. The breakfast seemed overpriced, so we walked to boucherie and got our own baguettes for breakfast. There is a lovely deck outside room for relaxing and eating, free inroom coffee & tiny fridge. We would definitely stay here again. It is only a 40 minute walk from hotel to the hikes to the Calanques. We loved the free parking at hotel.

I choose Royal Cottage from the pictures and reviews. I was completely surprised when we entered our room to see the poor conditions and sanitation, but thought may be the pool would help the situation. Unfortunately, the pool was run down and later found out it was a small hike to the town.

We sure appreciated the free parking, location to town, and the size and cleanliness of the room. The private terrace was an added bonus. The beds were comfortable and I liked the fact that the toilet was in a separate room from the shower. Lots of storage and space. After spending 10 days in France, this was one of our roomiest rooms. We opted for the 10 euro breakfast one morning and it was quite good.

This hotel is lovely and comfortable. It's only 10 minutes or so of a walk uptown. The only problems are a) there's nothing around there of interest, and while we were there we heard sounds of construction and b) it's relatively expensive. The staff is courteous and helpful, and the room is very comfortable and clean. But be prepared to pay the price.

Nous avons été déçu à notre arrivée. Nous avions déjà séjourné dans cet hôtel. Suite au changement de propriétaire, le parking est devenu payant. Pas de plateau de courtoisie, pas de bouteilles d’eau ou payante (4€50 les 50 cl). Pas de boites de mouchoirs à disposition…même si cet hôtel est bien situé dans cassis, nous n’y retournerons pas.
