The staff at this hotel were lovely. They assisted us in scheduling a private taxi to the airport for our departure, as navigating to Marseille would have proven frustrating on our own. The pool was warm and it was walking distance to amazing restaurants and views. The room was a decent size, with a Nespresso and a mini fridge. We did not have the breakfast, but it looked decent. I would stay here again.

Very helpful staff, including the receptionists who took care of us throughout our stay.
We loved the free lemon drink and pastries - nice touch!
Wonderful pool, loungers, good breakfast choices and brilliant location for walking around Cassis.
The room was very clean and comfortable, with a large bed, good air conditioning and blackout blind. The only slight issue was a minor smell from the drain, but unbeatable that this is not the hotel's fault.

Air conditioning doesn't work properly, beware

Be cautious about staying at this hotel during the summer months. Some rooms have good air conditioning, some have insufficient air conditioning that can't cool the room below the outside temperature. Staff are unwilling/unable to do anything if you get one of the rooms with insufficient air conditioning.

We had to sleep with the window opens overnight to reduce the temperature in the room from 26 to 23 degrees, so we could get some sleep.

The pool is nice though, although the ladder into the pool is loose and could become a hazard at some point.

Gorgeous views from the bar / dining area out over the bay. The pool was lovely, and quiet, very relaxing. The hotel is in a great location to walk into Cassis (about 4 minutes downhill) which is a beautiful port with a variety of restaurants and shops, boat trips and a small beach. It really is a wonderful location. We were in the south of France to watch some Olympic football matches and had originally planned to stay in Marseille, but I'm so glad I found this hotel instead. You can get the train into Marseille if you want (about a 30 minute journey) or drive. Cassis is a bit of a hidden gem and I wish we could have spent longer exploring. Breakfast was very good - lots of options and kids eat free. We had a family room, with a connecting door which worked very well for us and our 2 kids. Only downside is there is limited parking at the hotel, and also there is no lift. But we managed okay as there are only 2 floors (3 including the ground floor). Definitely recommend.

Hôtel is continently located on this beautiful seaside town. Staff were lovely. Reception when we arrived took car of booking our dinner in a lovely restaurant that she recommended.
The facility is older, rooms very small and dated, however, it was clean, just needs some upgrading. Air conditioning in France is not what we consider cooling in Europe… or at least not that I have found. But don’t let that deter you. It worked fine for what we wanted because we loved being out on the town!

We picked this hotel for its proximity to the train station since we had an early train, but it we were surprised at what a eclectic, modern and comfortable hotel it was. The rooms are laid out different but fun with plenty of room for things. The pool was nice - especially since it had plenty of shade options. The restaurant was delicious and a lifesaver since nothing outside the town walls was open on the Monday night we were there. (A festival in town kept us away because we were done with crowds, traffic and heat!). Service was great.

The hotel was a Best Western Plus. I expected the rooms to be bigger than a shoe box! In the website there is no mention of getting a balcony room which I would have preferred. The photos of the hotel were misleading. If it wasn’t late in the day and we weren’t already tired from driving I would have found somewhere else to stay. No help with luggage. Corridor was dark and we couldn’t find the light. The light only turns on if you come to your room. If you are leaving your room the hallway is dark and you cannot are your way without the flashlight function on your phone! Horrible!!

We spent a few days here and it was overall great-- the staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly and it was close enough to the harbor for easy walking but not so close to be loud. The room was pretty tiny but I assume that's common in the area, and there's a nice common area where we could eat lunch that we'd brought back from the market when it was too cold to sit outside. I'd be happy to go back.

Great location and beautiful room (Junior Suite). We were very unfortunate that our rental car got broken in just before we got to the hotel. We couldnt find parking at first and parked a few streets away, car got looted in broad day light! There is parking at hotel so just drive to there directly. Receptionist lady was very helpful and offered us assistance (very stressful day as one can imagine).

Breakfast was adequate. Pool area is being renovated when we stayed probably ready for Easter or summer.
Suite was great, we got a good price as we booked last minute and on Sunday night. Amazing view and good in-room facility. Would stay again and we high recommend you pull up at hotel and offload all your luggage!!

The room was so small and ill-planned that you couldn’t open the bathroom door without banging into the bed and the sad wee closet was placed behind the nightstand with an accordion door that was the wrong size so it didn’t close. It’s close to the harbor but everything is. If you can find any other reasonable place stay there. If you HAVE to stay here, the staff is lovely and there is terrace off the lobby with a lovely view.

The hotel has an amazing view of the mediterranean and the pool area is quite nice as well. It is a 5 minute walk to the port, beaches, and restaurants. Cassis is an absolute must see if you are near Marseille. The Calanques national park is a 45 minute walk to the entrance and is breath-taking. The hotel has free parking.
The hotel was very clean and well maintained. The rooms were small (normal for europe), the bed was very comfortable , and the the bathroom was very nice.

The hotel is up the hill in the centre of Cassis. It is a lovely 3.5 star hotel. The rooms are small but comfortable and the pool area too is small but has a lovely view. The sun loungers are tired but functional. The location is a 5-10 mins walk from the port. The hill may be a little steep for some but we found it easy enough. It was a lovely location to walk to the calanques from, and enjoy the beautiful coastal town from. Lots of good restaurants nearby.

Hotel disappointing

The Classic rooms are very small, claustrophobic with a view onto rocks. The colour of bedding and fittings in the Expedia photos did not match those in the hotel for this room , so I was confused about what room I had been given and thought I had been downgrraded!
I thought this hotel was also noisy in high season and poor value for money.
The hotel itself is well situated and staff friendly and very helpful. Pool and view pretty.
The hotel' s owner also owns the Best Western in La Ciotat which is a much better hotel, bigger rooms , with an infinity pool on the roof.

What a great find!

Our stay at the Best Western Hotel La Rade was outstanding! We stayed in the junior suite, the nicest room in the hotel from what I could surmise. While the room was not huge, it had a private deck and a spectacular view of the Mediterranean from both. The location was perfect; an easy walk into the heart of Cassis. We were greeted by Nicholas at the front desk and he could not have been more charming or helpful. What a great find!

It's a place to sleep. Can hear all plumbing from other rooms.. Including use of toilets.. During its use. My wire was happy with the room. It is simple but clean. Renovated. I'd not stay here if given the choice again. But it's got a nice view and friendly staff.. Don't care for the flooring or the noise. But it's a old retrofitted hotel.

My girlfriend and I stayed for 3 nights in the Junior Suite which is an incredible room. I would highly recommend treated yourself and making your stay incredible in this one of a kind suite. The private deck and stunning views and amazing. Our stay was during winter so it was very quiet. The staff were fabulous and went out of their way to accommodate us with anything we needed. Highly recommend!

The hotel was fine but it had a few niggles. The worst was that the bathroom 'flooded' when we showered. The other thing is that the corridor leading to our room was dark. There is a switch to turn on the light but we had to walk several metres to get to the one nearest our door. A motion sensor would have worked better. Not a single English language channel on TV, not even news. Advertised that there were Canal satellite channels, but there weren't.

Reservation was made in advance for a comfort room I believe.Upon check in was told we were upgraded from a classic room to comfort room for the price of classic. The size of the \"comfort\" room was so small, I can't imagine the size of a classic. It was excruciatingly crowded with two people plus two suitcases. Upon check out, I definitely was charged for the comfort room and emailed to enquire and was told no one would have advised me that I was paying for the lower priced room. I did not make that up. So disappointing that they did not honor the lower price.

Just a classic French beach hotel. While not on the beach, Cassis is a beach/marina town, and this hotel has one of the best views of the town and the sea. We went in September and got the upstairs room with a terrace and view. My only regret is we didn't spend more time.

Hotel is located just off the waterfront an easy fine minute walk away. Staff were not pleasant but not unfriendly either. Room was small. It did not have curtains but fif have an electric outside curtain that comes down with a switch which unfortunately we did not discover until we had been woken by the sun. There are a few parking spots in front of the hotel for first com first served.

Nice hotel in an excellent location a short walk from the quayside. There is a lovely view over the sea from the breakfast room and from the swimming pool. Not such a nice view from our room which looked across to an apartment block. We had a Classic room which was incredibly small with a bathroom which was tiny. The shower was really good and spacious but left little room for anything else. Anyone over 5ft 3in would struggle to sit on the toilet unless they put their feet in the shower, ridiculous planning. Only other issue could be parking - the hotel only has reserved onstreet spaces for a dozen cars plus a few secure garages (for a fee). We were lucky and managed to park ok but only after a few turns around the area. Cassis is a lovely place and despite a few niggles with the hotel, we enjoyed our stay.

Cassis is a gem on the Medeterranean--and the Best Western is on the hill overlooking this stunning spot. The location and position simply cannot be faulted.

The hotel itself is what you would anticipate: no frills, basic, with staff who seem to be there to make sure the place doesn't burn down vs. there to help you.

That being said: the breakfast buffet was surprisingly good (fresh squeezed OJ; freshly baked warm croissants) and they have little garages you can rent for your car at a reasonable price (a must do in summer; don't bank on trying to find local parking as the place gets overwhelmed with beach goers). They even give you a nice bottle of local rose wine at check in.

All in all, exactly what we expect from a Best Western (not too much) with some surprises for the better.

I spent two nights in Cassis and this location is halfway between the port-side restaurants on the Quai and the beach on the way to the Calenques. Be sure to reserve a spot or private \"box\" for parking since the city parking situation is crazy in season.

We chose to stay in Cassis for one night because it was relatively near the Marseille airport. The hotel had a nautical theme with ropes for handrails on the stairways. This theme continued into our room, which looked like it belonged on a ship. It was very tight with hardly any room for our suitcases. But it was clean with very flashy bathroom and shower fixtures.
As often happens in France, our flight out was cancelled due to a strike so we needed to stay another night. The man at the desk advised me that we couldn't stay in our room but could move to a more expensive room. I guess this was true. Anyway, they were very helpful in moving us to the more expensive room, which actually had some floor space to move around in. And the WiFi worked much better too.

Why awful rooms can change a great experience

A decent looking hotel, well located in the charming town of Cassis. Make sure you book parking ahead of time, otherwise you are in trouble if you come in a busy season.
Our booking stated: Classic Room, 1 Queen Bed, Non Smoking and Features a private balcony. Instead we got to the room through a narrow ill-lit corridor, some 5 steps down from the lobby, into what felt like a cellar, though the room actually had a window to a small and ugly backyard. You know a room (even without the promised balcony) is too small when you have to choose between using your suitcase and reaching your bed, and that the A/C is not working when you have to keep the window open to breathe. The front desk personnel were trying their best to be helpful, they also will report to the manager that we were inappropriately promised a room with a balcony by Hotels.com; “which is NEVER included in the Classic Room”; surely this is a great consolation.

Two Nights in Cassis

The BW La Rade has a great location. The facilities and room were very clean and well taken care of. Our particular room was surprisingly small, and no view. The entire bathroom was about 4.5 x 5 feet, and had enough floor space to take about two steps. The spa water temperature was the same temp as the pool water. Hotel employees were pleasant, but not overly friendly. That being said I would recommend staying at this hotel when in Cassis. However, consider one of their better larger rooms.

Perfect for the price!

Cassis itself is worth taking the time to visit. The Best Western is not fancy but the location is ideal and the view is phenomenal! There was a lot of variety offered in the breakfast, and the staff was helpful and friendly. I would come back in a heart beat!

A solid and decent hotel. The $200 price tag seems a bit much - but we booked closer to the date and it was peak season... Can't remember how other places compared money-wise. The room was pretty decent sized for a European hotel and we had a small balcony overlooking the street that came in quite handy for drying our suits and towels. Nothing particularly exciting about the room, but also nothing upsetting either. The breakfast was tasty. The pool was quite nice though smaller in real life than it looked in the photos. The pool chairs were excellent with built in shade for your face. Staff was friendly and helpful. Internet did not work great for us at all. Location is a little out of town - but not a bad walk. We went to a nearby beach that was about 5 minutes away by walk.

Bad experience but nice hotel

We apparently rented the last room and it was not ready when we arrived. Staff was not welcoming and with no explanation, delayed us as they checked our Hotels.com booking which they could not find. Our room located on a half-basement level had been hurriedly cleaned and there was dampness and moldy conditions in the bathroom. The A/C for the hotel had been turned off and it was a very warm, muggy day. The only fresh air available was to open the windows to a very noisy, busy street. Sleeping in a damp bed with windows closed to dampen sound added to our discomfort with the hotel. It is a nice place on the upper floors and we probably would have enjoyed the stay if A/C was working and we had room on a higher floor. Has great views of Cassis which we loved.

Close to the Port, with the charm of a prison cell

Let's put it like this. STAY ELSEWHERE. The night clerk was terrific. The bed was comfortable. But when your turn on the energy saver blue hued light, the room resembles a prison cell. avoid being seen from the street it's essential to close the metal shutters --- making it feel as if you are in solitary. On the other hand the water pressure in the shower was great as was the hot water, but the towels were paper thin. The breakfast (extra price) looked awful and skimpy. The corridors to the room look awful. The hotel's parking consists of room for only about 10 guests' cars -- after that it is \"payant\" street parking. If your GPS can find the hotel, it's a better GPS than we had.

Breakfast with a view.

As you enter Hotel La Rade you step into the open plan reception/breakfast room/bar/lounge which is a very welcome sight. The area overlooks the hotel swimming pool which is attractively decorated with brightly coloured cushions and even a couple of outdoor four poster beds. Beyond that there is a sea view. The staff are very friendly and helpful and happy to speak English with those struggling with French. The location is perfect being just a few minutes' walk from the main harbour, restaurants and shops.

nice surprise

Booked on previous night without a lot of analysis. Enjoyed every minute of it. Parked the car in front of hotel. We were greeted by Emmanuel at front desk. Her help and attention to our needs was much appreciated. She taught us few French phrases, went beyond her duties and made us feel welcomed. Made suggestions for activities, recommendations. The only minus for us was the absence of elevator, so you need to carry your suitcases upstairs. Rooms were very clean.

Really good hotel close to the harbour at cassis

We stayed for 5 days at the Hotel La Rade and it is a really good hotel, the staff were very friendly nothing was to much trouble and it was a pleasure to stay there.

Super view of the sea

Loved the small but neat rooms. Loved the view from the pool down to the sea. Loved the short walk down to the port. The only bad thing is that they have limited parking, and we were unable to procure one of the spaces. Finding a parking place is tricky.

Within walking distance of port

We thought that we could catch a taxi from the train station, but best to take the casino bus for small fee (runs after 4 PM and through the night) as there were no taxis in sight. Walked from bus stop and were amazed by the views from the lobby - so picturesque, I wish we had stayed longer. Port, restaurants and casino were all within a short walk. Town was the cleanest city that I had seen, ever anywhere in the world. This is a must stop, if you ever go to the French Riveria. Free wifi worked in room, room was clean and hotel in good condition.

Wonderful hotel

Great place. Location is superb, and is staff. Cassis is amazing and worth the trip. We brought our own wine and the hotel was more than happy to open it and provide glasses. View from pool deck is great. Our first room was large and amazing; we decided to stay a second night and had to move to the third floor. That room was small, thought the balcony was large.

Very Bad Service at Reception - Parking big Issue

We were very unhappy with the very unhelpful and unfriendly service of the reception staff. The room was totally small and we had to keep one suitecase under the sink in the bathroom because there was no space to put it otherwise. The decor is ok but nothing to rave about and the parking is a big issue. From the website we understood that free parking is available. However, if you don't manage to get one of the few free hotel parking spots parking is a nightmare and don't count on asking the reception to change some money for the payparking around the hotel. The location is convenient, especially if you plan to hike to the Calangues.

Comfortable and convenient and central

Great one night stay. Should have booked for longer! Its a 10 min walk from bus but after train journey. Parking in town is hard. Other than that, a good location overlooking harbour. It was very hot so the pool was nice and a great bonus. The beach in Carris is not great and extremely crowded. Short walk to restaurants but far enough removed to avoid lively nightlife noise. We stayed in a Comfort room which was pricier but very spacious. Other rooms looked much smaller but similar furnishngs. You get what you pay for. Staff were helpful. Didnt take breakfast in hotel as they offered a 13 euro buffet which was more than we wanted. Later noticed they had a cheaper basic breakfast option. Lots of eating options in town or by harbour. We chose Cassis on a back street which was fantastic value. Book to dine to get table during August. Calanques boat trip great but warning that you may get soaked by waves at front of boat if its windy!
