This property is good for travellers but if you don’t like stairs maybe don’t choose. The rooms are fine but the bathroom was like the one you get in a cabin in a caravan park. Very small rooms. The staff were nice and friendly though and helped us with travel information.

It was an interesting property given its history. The clientele was mainly western and the on premise restaurant was good. That section of Beijing was kind of rundown, mainly consisting of Hutongs but it was safe and kind of funky. Bit of a walk to the metro but relatively easy to get around. The hotel staff was helpful in arranging travel and selling tickets to tourist attractions like the Great Wall and Forbidden City.

Wonderful helpful staff. They would write everything in Chinese for me before I went out for easier navigating. Good location, restaurant next door never made me sick and the free coffee in the lobby was great. They were always able to call me a can. Loved the staff!!

The staff were very good. My major problem was the WiFi. It is an open system, so I think too many people are using it. It is slow and unreliable. My room was fine. Construction was going on outside, but it didn’t bother me. The hotel is in a Hutong, and it was Edgar Snow’s residence, so that’s interesting. As a 老外 I’m dependent upon good WiFi to get things done.

Off the beaten trail.

We really enjoyed our sray at this hotel. It was a cultural experience we didnt expect. The food was very good and the staff was friendly. The 3 children whose mom works there really made for a pleasant morning coversation. They are the best!

Walking distance to train station but small room.

Had little room for luggage as the room was smaller than expected. Toilet was quite cramped as well. Aircon had a sign showing 'no hanging of dirty laundry' there was a foul sock smell emitting from the aircon, i assume there were stayers hanging wet socks at the aircon to dry. Noise of people can be heard during wee hours as sound insulation was poor.

Pros: Free water dispenser at the reception and top up of 2 bottle of water during room service. Change of towel as well. Walking distance to the train station.

A pleasant Bed n Breakfast

I decided to stay at a Bed n Breakfast equivalent while in Beijing. The room was comfortable, the bed while hard was comfortable for me and I slept well. The location right near Beijing Station was very convenient. This hotel is off the main roads on a laneway, however next to a police station whom used the hotel restaurant for a break. I felt very safe and for what I paid a vey please tell stay. I did not take up the free breakfast as I was just there for the bed and out early / home late. The Starbucks, while I personally loath was nearby and helpful to start the day as coffee (standard latte or cuppachino) is not readily available anywhere in China.

The only thing that doesn't satisfied my father was the hotel is in the alley...The rest was perfect...Police Station next door,ull be safe for sure...Metro is just around the corner...If you were to buy some basic needs,its very convenience to get it around that area...Foods were easy to obtain around the area...Staff were friendly and honest,1 of my fathers friend left his set of teapot by the reception walkway and got it back even on the next day...

Cheap and clean- not much else

If you're looking for cheap, clean accommodations close to transit, this is a great option. If you're looking for western style comfort and a nice neighborhood, perhaps keep looking. Our stay was perfectly fine, but we would probably stay somewhere else next time simply because of locations. We've experienced our fair share of hard beds in China, but these definitely topped the charts.

One time and never again.

OK, let's get the only positive out of the way: It is a 5-10 minute walk to the Beijing Railway Station. However that positive also doesn't hold too much weight since there are many other hotels nearby where you could stay instead. The room was not clean, uncomfortable and LOUD. We were in 103 which was essentially below the stairs and all night we heard people in the hallway, drunk people returning late at night and the people in the neighboring rooms through the walls (coughing up a lung). Then at 6:30am after amassing about 2 hours total of sleep, a group of people started singing and made sure we weren't falling back asleep. Breakfast was terrible, \"served until 9am\" they were already cleaning up and putting away the food at 8:30am. The shower and bathroom didn't even have a door and was just a step up into what might have previously been a closet. We booked cheap and thought we knew what we were getting but the value is definitely not worth even that. SKIP.

No nonsmoking rooms but a helpful staff

Overall the staff was very helpful. They assisted with electrical converters, directions, and even ran a tab when I didn't have the correct currency. I only had 1 minor complaint. There didn't seem to be any nonsmoking rooms. When I asked for one they tried to spray the room and open a window. Then the second time I asked they offered me another room that seemed like a children's room but still came with an ashtray. I now, understand that this is probably a difference in culture as smoking seems to be allowed everywhere.

This is not a fancy hotel and it is down an alley but right beside the police station and the railroad station. It is convenient to all forms of transportation and the food in the restaurant was good.

Great staff, convenient location!

I did not know what I was getting myself into when I booked this trip and upon arriving in China for the first time, I was anxious about the hotel. When I took the taxi from the airport, the driver had a hard time finding it...don't worry...this is typical. When he did find it, I was amazed at how close it was to the NCPA, Tian'anmen Square and Wangfujing Street. Major subway lines 1 (Jianguomen) and 2 (Beijing Railway) are about a ten minute walk. The room was really nice and clean for the price. The staff speak some English so they are very helpful! The restaurant is authentic Chinese cuisine and it gets very busy (and dirty). The staff are quick to clean up and always accommodate. All in all, I was happy with this hotel and would stay here again if I returned to Beijing!

Quite comfortable for the price, very clean, staff was polite and very friendly, helped us with translating to Chinese writing whenever we were using public transit , also included breakfast which was a bonus, police station nearby, close to railway station, easy access to bus and subway. 10 minutes to Wangfuging St. Shower had a door however could not close it, kept opening while showering, which made the floors wet. Also had tours available and airport service.

Nice place, nice people. I have stayed her 3 times and will come back again. If something isn't working they really try to fix it. It feels like it is a family working there! Laundry is cheap and working well too. Favorite room is away from the railway and with soft bed. Some room have a window to the railway and hard beds (last thing you can get used to).

It was a bit hard to find because it as way back in some sketchy alley way but it was really nice once you found it. It included a free (chinese) breakfast which is always great. It was really close to the bus 10 which we used to pretty much go anywhere and its only ¥1 to go on the bus!! The bed was nice and room was clean. Cant complain!

Great for not spending too much money

We found this hotel for just a quick overnight stay for a Beijing stopover and close to the railway station. Its not in a good surrounding because its in a alley a bit hard to find but just around the corner from the railway so you dont need a taxi. Once you find it,.. its actually quite nice and for the cheap money very good, nice and clean. The people at reception nicer than the higher priced hotels. It isnt for longer stays because of small rooms and no view but for quick stays on a budget,,,,more than great!

Great breakfasts, tiny, noisy room filled with cigarette smoke.

I was happily surprised with the bounteous number of veggie dishes at breakfast, and the staff was courteous and responsive. However,the tiny rooms had paper-thin walls so that all sounds and cigarette smoke passed through. Moreover, the tiny bathroom was separated from the small room only with a thin curtain. The photos of the lobby and rooms must have been taken with a fish-eye lens that enlarged everything beyond their real dimensions.

Clean and economical hotel with variety breakfast

The overall hotel was very clean and quaint with a cute terrace with swings or tables to sit and enjoy the outdoors. If you are a light sleeper, the walls are very thin and if neighbours watch tv or entertain, you can hear everything around you. The location was somewhat remote and out of the way for walking at night or to get a taxi. These you had to call or go to the main road and they were mostly awaiting fares outside the Beijing Railway Station so it was hard to get one or you had to barter the fare. Many street sellers in the area of the station that made a casual walk around very annoying. The staff were friendly and accommodating and for the rate, and to just sleep and shower, it was suitable to our needs.

Not like the pictures!

Do not follow the map given to find the hotel! It is not close to the Chongwenmen Station, it is near the Beijing Station. It is down a creepy back ally & I mean creepy.
When we arrived at the hotel the staff do not speak a lot of English, everything has an extra cost phone calls to your tour company, drinks at breakfast unless you want warm plum juice or gross coffee.
The pictures are what you expect to get but its not what we got; we got a bathroom with mold all over the shower & shower curtain & water stains on the walls and stains in the room
Don't get me wrong there were quiet a few people staying there but not many English speaking tourists
When booking this hotel you get what you pay for & don't expect to get a lot
There have a some cute little swing area to sit out at night but not much else
Realistically you don't spend a lot of time in your room and if you aren't looking to stay in a fancy hotel, this might be the place for you. The breakfast was buffet style; rice, buns, some kind of vegetable, soups, toast, fruit. But get there before 8:30 because they don't replace the trays once they are finished
If you are going to stay here, follow these directions; When leaving Beijing station be on the same side as the Beijing Railway Building. Walk towards the pedestrian cross walk over the road. Continue down the road past the bus stop on your right, turn right at the next street. Follow street, you will see police shop, turn right and a there it is on the left.

Surprisingly fantastic!

I'm a little surprised to see so many bad reviews of this hotel after spending a couple nights here. The staff is quite friendly, and maybe their English isn't perfect but I had no problems communicating with them. The rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable. It's also conveniently located next to the Beijing Railway Station and the City Wall Marriott Hotel. There are signs for the hotel on the main street which will lead you into the right hutong. When in doubt, ask a local and when they see you're a lost laowai, chances are they will point you in the direction of this hotel - no words necessary. Highly recommended when traveling on a budget!

checkng in outside regular hours is a huge problem

chose dis hotel bcoz of overall positive reviews, nearness to tourist spots & public transport, moderate rates. so i booked/paid for 10 nights advance. my stay wud have bin perfect, found everything as described over d web,except after d 9th night, they were askin me to checkout at 12noon or pay for another night (full 289rmb rate)---bcoz i checkd-in 3a.m(my flight came in after midnight) or 4 hours earlier than regular 7a.m check-in. arguing wid discourteous, arrogant staff that spoke/understood very little english just aggravated my hypertension, so i was forced to just concede, and leave in haste by d 3pm extension they gave or i wud forfeit d 200rmb deposit. in effect, i was shortchanged for more than half a day...if u dont check-in/check-out within d regular times, make sure u clarify with front desk firsthand, or u wud really lose ur cool driving ur point to staff that cant even understand simple english...but housekeepng, restaurant staff very polite,friendly even. quite hard pillows indeed, but i think its culture(check d museum--there's ceramic,stone,wood pillows even) bcoz d comforters,towels were new & fluffy. wifi in room. daily room cleaning,towel change. comfy lounge areas. inhouse restaurant if too lazy to dine out

Good part. Hotel in good condition. Very very convenient location. Attrcative price. Bad part: The level of English is terribly inadequate for a hotels.com hotel. The breakfast is over by 9am. And they put away stuff by 8.30 pm and basically haul away stuff while you are eating. Terrible staff manners. Suggest you skip breakfast (which is not bad in itself). Never enough dishes or cups and food preparation cleanliness suspect. Locationis very difficult to find evenwhen you are less than a block away. Do not expect anyone nearby or cabs to know where it is.Best bet is using GPS or detailed Google map on your own. Its in the middle of a modern slum tucked behind 5 star marriots and the central railway station. You have to walk narrow slum streets for 2 short blocks - looks dangerous at night but I suspect its not dangerous, just seems so. If they fix English and their breakfast service, the slum aspect will be more than made up by the other advanatgaes.

Meets expectations. Basic, clean,.. simple. Shower, toilet are basic, but clean. Toileteries are provided,..basic. English speaking could be better, but seems to be improving. Web connection could also be improved as multiple devices is difficult due to security. Otherwise, it is good overall, and value for money. Heating could be a little better in winter. It's in a little alley behind Beijing station, so must ensure that you get a room not near the station to avoid noise

you will never be able to find this place by yourself. i found someone who spoke english and they kept asking other people and we eventually found it. very nice family. ive been to Beijing 12 times now and this was the hardest hotel to find. but great location for transportation. if u r going to the airport the bus drops you off and picks you up within a 5 minute walk of the hotel. i will stay there next time for sure now that i know where its at.

although no one seemed to speak english, i had no problems communicating .......the staff were helpful and the location was beyond excellent...... i was surprized by the hotel...i walked down a dark lane ...thinking i was going to be a target of jack the ripper type of character....it was 1:30 am....and then i walked into a clean and friendly place....i spent 7 days there and i will go back.....nothing fancy.....i slept well and i was delighted by the location...thanks ..... david from canada

The hotel is conveniently located near the Beijing railway station and a short walk to a subway station. Staff were friendly and helpful and had reasonable english. As a family of four with teenage children we had 2 rooms. These were located in different sections of the hotel.
Breakfast was interesting, including a wide choice and was filling.

Unbearable odor of cigarettes!!

I did not expect much from this hotel since it was cheap and located in a, you can almost say, alley. To my surprise, the lobby and center court was very clean and well maintained. And the receptionist spoke English very well. Also, the location is good since it's a short walk to the subway and close to most attractions. Here comes the bad part. The room was drenched in cigarette smoke. I've been in many smoky places so I can usually stand it but our room was unbearable. Turning on the A/C got rid of most of the smell but then the room got too cold. The towels, bedsheets, and pillow cases weren't very clean and also smelled like cigarette. You can feel the springs in the bed and there was only 1 English channel on TV. Also, while in the outside court yard, there's a constant odor which smells like fumes or gasoline. It might be from the trains behind the hotel. Overall, this hotel is fine if you're on a budget and think you can get over the smell.

Worn out hostel close to train station

This place is not a hotel but a hostel. Small and worn out rooms. The room was not cleaned during our three night stay. Room is just next door to trains that run all through the night. Walls and doors are so thin that you can hear everything that takes place. Reception staff speak English which is an advantage. Very hard to find but the area in a hutong is nice. Met a mouse at the restaurant.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed!!!

It was my worst experience staying hotel in my life!!
This hotel has four levels but there are no lifts. When you travelling overseas, you have a lot of baggage to carry, so it was very inconvenient. The room was ok, clean however bed was so uncomfortable. I later found out that hotel staff forgot to place the proper mat less on my bed! At midnight, American ladies next door was having party so loud until 3AM and I could not sleep. But there are no one speaks English at reception. I tried to explain in Chinese but no body took action until 3pm. In the end, I took a cab to Beijing airport to go home. They charged me 160RMB when it usually only cost 70RMB. If I don’t agree, they didn’t help me organizing a cab as this driver is THEIR driver I have to use. I would NOT recommend this hotel and I would never ever come back to this hotel again!!

Close to rail station for better or worse

I'd only recommend this place if you have a train to catch and really need a place near the station (about a 5 minute walk away). All the rooms on the south side of the hotel directly overlook the tracks, so there's train noise day and night. Bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. The room (a single) was small but fine for a night. There's nowhere to put your suitcase, and in place of a closet or wardrobe, there are two metal racks that swing out from the wall (no hangers). The hotel was fairly nice and clean overall, but my room smelled so badly of mildew it made me want to throw up (keeping the bathroom door closed helped a little).

Hotel clean and safe, next to a police station! Located very near the main Beijing Railroad station and most importantly the Beijing Subway system which is the best, easiest, quickest and cheapest way to everything in Beijing! Be sure to utilize the Travel Service located in the hotel lobby. The best trip to The Great Wall! Inexpensive, efficient and the lunch [included] was at the base of the wall and was A1!!!

Adequate shelter in a conveniet spot.

The uncomfortably firm bed more than made up for the lack of walls for the bathroom. It was quite convenient to have the toilet so close to the sleeping quarters. One simply had to roll over use the facilities. Repeated flushing didn't clear the bowl, but the rough paper scoured flesh thoroughly. When houskeeping finally decided to swab the toilet on the fourth day, the aroma departed.
Plenty of bottled water was provided, as were lovely little house slippers. Breakfast was extensive, delicious, and inexpensive. Smoking, overloaded electrical sockets and blown fuses on the toaster hardly detracted at all. The fire department was not needed. The tour desk was a blessing. Tours of the Wall and Hutong were reasonably priced and the drivers were competent and speedy. Very speedy. Their casual relationships with the center line and regulations were refreshing. The neighborhood, though decrepit, was quiet, probably due to the Police station right next door. The bus to Tiananmen Square was right up the street! The airport express train was accessible from the railway station only a few blocks away. Overall, the inn was just worth the rating stars. If you can overlook the deficiencies, especially the terrible acoustics which magnified every footstep, cough, laugh, and door slam from late night guests, stay here.

Hotel is within steps away from Police station near East railway station at the rear on the Marriot Hotel.
Bad- no elevator for luggage, train noise, no mini refrigerator in room.
Good- low price near metro area, clean, free internet in cafe (I used this to book additional nights).
Due to high inflation rate in China and low dollar value, money saved in cheap hotel can be spent in food.
Restaurant has good and low priced food but stay away from \"cold\" food, did not look like picture in menu.
There are 4 Zhong An hotels in Beijing, go to the 1 you booked.

There is a barber shop down the street in a \"T\" section. Don't go there, poor wash / shampoo.

Great Value for Price

This little hotel in a traditional neighborhood near the Beijing West Rail Station is clean and affordable. It is a terrific value for the price. All of the many reviews on Hotels.com recite the core pros and cons: prepare yourself with the hotel address written in Chinese, if possible, so your taxi driver can find it (hint: it is off ¨Beizingshan¨directly behind the Beijing West Rail Station). be prepared to walk through authentic¨ hutong neighborhoods¨filled with the sights and smells of everyday life in a poor sector. but also prepare yourself to have a good working shower, toilet and lavatory, TV with English language news on it, excellent air conditioning unit (Beijing can be hot in summer), and easy access to the Metro and Chinese train systems just up the street. This is not the Marriott but then can you afford the Marriott? Enjoy ZhongÁn Inn.

Hard to Find Gem within Beijing

Great hotel after you find it. Rooms are clean and have excellent Air Conditioners and flat screen tv's. Plenty of lounge areas outside and inside the hotel for relaxing. Hotel is located in a hutong area that is a bit hard to find if you are not familiar with Beijing. If you walk east from the Beijing Station East Street, take a right after the large bustop area and walk south along a small hutong street. At the end of the hutong street and you will see a police station. Take a right turn at the police station and the hotel is on the left just past the Super 8 Hotel. The hotel is close to the Beijing Railway Subway Station on Line 2 subway and close to Jiangoumen subway station on Line 2.

Hotel is also conveniently located near Cofco plaza which has a McDonalds, Starbucks and HSBC atm. My only complaint is that the bathroom area is open to the rest of the room. Some type of curtain would be nice. If you share the room that only has one double bed, you had better be best buds with your roomie because they can watch you use the toilet and shower.

If you don't speak Mandarin, think twice!!!

This hotel has some good advantages - it's a decent budget hotel in a convenient location, it's nestled in the middle of a quaint hutong, and the room was acceptabe although the floor was not swept well and the bath was moldy. The problem is that many members of the staff are less than friendly and some were outright hostile. One desk clerk refused to write an address for us to give to the taxi driver. When we asked some other Chinese guests who were in the lobby if they could do it for us, the clerk angrily scribbled down an address and glaringly thrust it at us. We had our suspicions so we stopped at the Marriott to ask and sure enough, the address had been written incorrectly.

We had also asked for a rollaway bed and were charged a 200 yuan deposit which we were told would be refunded when we checked out. But when I inquired about the deposit at checkout I was told there was no record of it and that I actually underpaid for the room and owed an additional 100 yuan.

I understand how dealing with guests who don't speak Mandarin could be very tiring and because of this I always try to be polite and flexible. But people who have a low tolerance for foreign visitors should probably think twice about working in the hotel business. I would NOT recommend this hotel for non-Mandarin speaking visitors.

The hotel staff was helpful, attentive, and my room was spotless. I really appreciated finding a new bottle of water every evening after spending the day sightseeing in Beijing. Despite it being difficult to find the hotel I would highly recommend Zhong'an to anyone looking to stay near Beijing Railway Station.

City centre Hotel next to Beijing Railway Station

This hotel was such a bargin and so handy for the train station and metro which is less than a 5 min walk away. You simply walk out of the train station and turn left. Walk under the foot bridge, go to the first set of traffic lights and turn left. You will find yourself walking down an alley, but don't be put off. You will see a large police station at the end. Turn left again at the end of the alley and you will see the hotel. Staff were very sweet , friendly, and so helpful, they met all my needs. A little gem of a hotel that I will use again.

Biejing Zhong'an Hotel

A well-located and friendly hotel well suited to back-packers and travellers on a budget. Rooms are clean and well equipped, attached restaurant provides a good standard and selection of Chines cuisine at reasonble prices. Beijing railway station and the 'metro' are within 5 mins walk which enables convenient and cheap access to all of Beijing's attractions and the airport.

Beijing Zhong'an -Not internationally friendly!

The hotel is next to the railway station and subway which is convenient but because of this the streets are chaotic, over crowded, and dirty.

Our room was not maintain properly. The restroom was pretty disgusting! I recommend you wear flip flops in the shower! Even after taking a shower being in a poorly cleaned room you still feel really dirty.

The service in the front lobby was a hit or miss. There was one girl that was very helpful and friendly. The person the next day was rude and seem less willing to help. At one point she even rolled her eyes and acted like she didn't understand, which was extremely frustrating because my boyfriend is Chinese and speaks Chinese fluently. We asked how far the airport for domestic flight was and even had it written down in Chinese. She said there was no such airport. Luckily, the next day the friendlier girl was at the counter and knew where the airport was and even arranged to have a taxi pick up the following morning. Overall, I would say this hotel is so so but I would NOT recommend this hotel to any of my friends because it is not internationally friendly!

zhongan hotel is right behind beijing railway station which is 3 bus stops from tiananmen squre, the center of beijing. And in hotel.com i think you can get a good price. however, it may takes you a little time to find the hotel cuz it hides in a small alley.

WORST HOTEL(Inn) in all of CHINA

Read the title.POOR SERVICE. Flickering fluorescent lights for bedroom. NO door or separation between bathroom and bedroom(This means whoever you're staying with has to watch you shower/use the bathroom). I got two pillows on the bed, one of which was filled with sand. I requested for another pillow and got one 30 mins later. Bed is HARD and uncomfortable. There is so much cigarette smoke in the hallways. It was so unbearable that I had to switch hotels. When checking out and asked for a taxi to my other taxi, they charged me 80RMB for the taxi because 'they don't take to other hotels'. RIDICULOUS.

Not to mention the hotel is located in this creepy alleyway. Although it is near a police station, good luck screaming for help if you need it. Also, NO TAXI's come this way. GOODLUCK looking for this hotel if you are coming from airport by taxi, NO ONE KNOWS where this place is.

Also, upon arrival, the 'hotel' is not listed as a hotel. It's an INN. WHAT A RIP OFF!

Tucked away but clean and nice

Nice hotel for the price. Strange location but a short walk through the friendly hutong alleys to get to all amenities. Felt safe and well looked after.
Need accurate directions or the taxi driver will never find it. With your back to Beijing train station, turn right, past a small bus station, next right at a large hotel down a small street towards the police station, right at the end and you'll see it.
Note: The 1-bed apartment only sleeps 3+ if you pay for extra bed(s).
Staff speak little English (but that's common in Beijing). You can generally get understood in the end.

Decent hotel

This was a decent hotel, the room was good and that was the main thing. The staff was really bad at english, and it was surprisingly hard to talk to them. Furthermore we went on a tourtrip arranged by the tour agency at the hotel to the great wall which was a good trip however there was one problem. The trip was 260 rmb, but when we talked to some of the others who were with us on the tour from different hotels and hostels they only paied 180, so we got cheated for 80 rmb pr person which is quite a lot. Afterwards we tried to talk to them but again their english was so bad making it hard and we had to accept the loss of the money.
not really sure if i would recommend the hotel. Im sure there are many others which is just as good honestly.

Zhong'an Hotel Beijing

Nothing special about this hotel, but still safe, and clean to chinese standard. Very conveniently located near main train station and metro. I was lucky enough to have a window view on the train tracks so I could watch and hear trains arriving and leaving:) Hopefully much less traffic at night. Staff is helpful and polite. Restaurant breakfast not really my taste, well chinese style... but you have plenty of small eateries in the street to the main station/metro out of the hotel.
All in all, no luxury but still recommended.

Great place for travellers - READ MY DIRECTIONS

Despite the hard to find location, this place was a wonderful stay. Clean rooms, comfortable, nice hot showers, everything you need. If you don't speak Chinese, you'll have no problem taking care of things. They're not fluent but can understand basic commands (more water, laundry, check out, etc)

I recommend having laundry done if you need it. It's really cheap here and they didn't destroy my clothes.

If you take the subway, get off at the Beijing Railway Station (Beijingshan) and take the South East exit. Walk straight out the exit, and make a right at the first stoplight. At that light there's actually a sign (Zhongan Hotel) which points in the correct direction. Keep that in mind if you take a cab. Walk alllllll the way down the alley until it dead ends to the police station, look right and you'll see the sign.

Great Budget Hotel in a Great Location

I do believe the Chinese prefers hard bed. Mine was very hard. Other than that, this Hotel is a VERY GOOD CHOICE. It is close to the bus station and train station. Close to the mall, Henderson and Tianman Square. You only pay 1Yuan for the bus and it takes like 8mins and your there. The restaurant price is reasonable and it cooks well. All in all this is a highly recommended Hotel. A great pick in a great location with reasonble Hotel rates. Han hao!

Fine for the price

The Beijing Zhong'an Hotel was perfectly adequate for the price. The room was small, but clean. The bathroom, however, was kind of scary--definitely bring flip-flops for the shower.

If you're travelling with a ton of luggage, note that there's no elevator, so you'll be carrying all of it up stairs if you're not on the ground floor.

The location was great in that it was within walking distance of sites like Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. However, the hotel itself is sort of hard to find, and even with the hotel card that had the address written in Chinese (with a map!), several times we had difficulty finding taxis that would be willing to take us there.

I am not impressed at the location because going through a funny smell alley to reach the hotel.

None speaks English. It is not recommended to foreigners to stay in this hotel. It would be frustrating to see the attitude of the girls working in the front desk. Even they do not understand us, they are not supposed to make fun of the guests. I am really sorry to have to say it, but definitely without anyone speaks English would not be a problem as long as their attitude is acceptable for the guests.

Review of Beijing Zhong'han

arrived at the Beijing Zhong' an Hotel from North Korea after a very long train journey! This is a real find. The staff were extremely kind and helpful and tried hard with any requests. The room was clean with little extras which surprised me as the price was low. Breakfast was fine and I loved the little courtyard. It is 25 minutes walk from T Square. You walk out of Beijing Station and turn right going under a bridge to a the traffic lights and turn right. I have travelled all over the world and value for money this was hard to beat. Give it a try.

Value for money at good location

Well located hotel (around 500m from underground station and Beijing Railway Station). Rooms are clean and just enough to take shower and go to sleep. Staff at the reception speaks communicative English. They have good laundry service.

Some of the rooms are on 4th or 5th floor and if I remember well there is no elevator, so while booking take it into account if for any reasons walking upstairs is problem for you.

In the hotel there is travel agency, so you can book various trips on the spot.

In September 2010 taxi from airport was exactly 100 RMB with the meter. You can get there by underground as a cheaper option but you will find it difficult to find the hotel if it is first time. So, it's better to take taxi.

Summing up: it's not high quality hotel but it keeps nice standard and for the money you pay it is very reasonable option.

Good quality for the price.

Well, people were nice enough but some of the staff did not speak English so it was at time hard.
The restaurant attached to the hotel was really good, The food was very nice! I usually suffer from IBS, and I did not get sick once during the 2 weeks stay which is amazing! I usually do in Europe!
The hotel was cleaned but I think the bathroom would do with a little scrub!!!
Overall, it is fine! (Oh, and the air condition was great!)
