Most convenient area in Sanur, walking distance to beaches, great restaurants and shopping, there is a great supermarket next door. The cottage's are well maintained but could do with a bathroom update and the pool needs some love!.overall its a lovely get away from all bigger over crowded resort's and yes, we will stay there again! Its peaceful😊

Room was large and appeared all furniture and white goods (fridge and aircon) were new. Also freshly painted. Such a peaceful setting and we loved that it was a traditional Bali style hotel with not too many rooms. Thanks to all the staff who made our stay so wonderful

A week in Sanur

I loved my stay at Sativa Sanur cottages , the room was a Great size with everything I needed . The Balcony was great big . , Sativa had a great pool , Breakfast every morning , egg station , omelettes , Banana pancakes , pancakes , fresh fruit , croissants . Coffee , juice. Sativa is close to shops restaurants . There is a supermarket next door . A beauty salon , hairdressers massages next door worth a visit , reasonably priced , busy . You can hire a bike from Sativa 30,000 rupiah . Ride to the beach front lovely . I would stay again

This place is so cute! Very vintage-retro vibes, cool old gigantic bathtub in the room, nice pool and cafe area. I felt relieved that the price-point was affordable. It's on a quiet alley but right near the main street so you can easily walk to yoga, the beach, cafes, and groceries.

We stayed in the Deluxe Room, Pool Access. It had the wooden doors which made the room a little dark. Next time we would book the room with the large glass doors. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We really liked the traditional building with grass roof and the tropical garden space. The pool bar is not in use.
The room is adequate although, as many others have commended, tired and could do with a refresh. The air-conditioning was ok for June but preferred something more effective. I don't believe this would be sufficient in hot months like February.
Great location, easy 5 minute walk to the beach front and many cafes. Very poor WiFi/internet connection.
Smoking is allowed in the outdoor area by the pool and in their cafe. Not great if you are a non smoker.
Nice seating area outside. Sheets were not changed in 12 Days which is a bit disappointing. The photos online are true to the accommodation.

The photos are definitely misleading for this hotel. The rooms are very old and outdated. The extra bed that was put in our room was rusted and had screws sticking out that I had to screw in myself to avoid injury.
The rate we paid for this accommodation was very over priced.
It was very quiet. Although this was only a one night stay for us in between destinations.
Personally I would not return to the cottages and if my stay was longer than one night I would have cancelled.
The amenities were very poor, there was no soap or shampoo in dispensers.
The bath was HUGE and no support rails to get in or out to shower. Non-slip may provided to place in bath while showering was very old and moulded.

Sativa cottages has that old Bali style appearance. It was clean ,comfortable and central to restaurants and shopping. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
the cottages need some maintenance to rooms and pool area but only minor, not a real issue for us.
Overall we had a great stay and enjoyed the experience.

Had a lovely stay here. The staff are wonderful and very helpful.
The rooms are enormous and it is super quiet. They are stand alone (one above another) with a staircase in between so you don't hear anyone.
The bed is very comfortable and the water is hot and good pressure.
No safe in room but room safety box at front reception desk with key.
Only Indonesian plugs in room so take a converter.
Breakfast was basic but nice. Egg station and pancakes.
Down a side street so you have to walk around to get to the beach road but not too far. Bicycle hire onsite (very cheap) so I just did that and rode everywhere!
Pool is very nice but it can get a little crowded and if you want peace and quiet probably not the place. I just rode my bike to the beach and hired a lounge for the day and sat there! Money changer and supermarket right next door & plenty of lovely restaurants and bars close by.
Overall a lovely place and I would stay again.

Great secluded property directly behind the busy main street. It was quiet, cozy, and beautiful with the pool running through it. Some of the furnishings seems a bit dated. Not very many charging points and only the local plugs, but it didnt bother me that much. Sitting at the balcony looking at the pool was serene. Would definitely stay again.

This was the 3rd time we have stayed at the property and we have seen a decline in standards. Possibly due to a lack of cashflow during Covid has hit hard, roofs leaking and patched up with tarpaulins, we had to move rooms as ours had water running down the inside walls during a heavy shower. Pool bar not open as they cannot afford the liquor license, they are probably doing their best, but the place does need money spending on it and Soon !

We will be back again! Great, friendly staff. Rooms were nice. Pool is excellent, but I wish the swim bar was operational. Only beer available which sucked because we do love a voddie. Heaps of great food choices around and a very short walk to the awesome Sanur boardwalk/promenade thing.

Great place, took some friends from the YK for their first trip to Bali so we wanted an hotel that reflected the original Bali feel. The Sativa Sanur Cottages had the perfect mix of old style traditional but yet up to date bathrooms and Air con etc. very peaceful and relaxed setting. No kids and plenty of sunbeds available anytime of the day. Supermarket at the top of the driveway, heaps of good warungs, restaurants and bars

Sativa Sanur stay - 22 - 29 December 2019.

My wife, our son, and myself traveled to Bali on Sunday, 22 December 2019. On arrival at the airport, I found that there were no arrangement made for our collection at the airport, as per my request. \"Could you please include airport shuttle service. We will be arriving at Denpasar Airport @ 16:35 on 22 Dec 19 onboard Garuda Flight GA447, and depart again on 29 Dec 19 @ 13:00 on Garuda Flight GA446\" I then called the hotel, and they told me that no arrangement was made with them, so I arranged for a taxi to the hotel by myself. (Lesson learnt - call the hotel beforehand to confirm!). The stay at the hotel was very pleasant, good location, friendly staff, nice swimming pool. Some complaints though with regards to the facilities, not show stoppers though.
1. Wi-Fi was so bad that we used our own WiFi Router the entire week!
2. No Coffee/tea maker in room!. \"Food & Drink - Refrigerator, coffee/tea maker, room service, and free bottled water\".We went and bought a small portable gas stove and a pot, to boil water in to make coffee.
3. No bottled water in room, only a Stainless Steel water jug with water.

For a resort that opened in 1990, it still holds up. As per other reviews, the hotel could use some work but they do not oversell themselves or amenities. We booked last minute and were happy with the size of the room and the pool. Some variety to the breakfast options would be nice. The location is perfect as it’s a 5 minute walk to the beach, restaurants and there’s a supermarket next door. Recommend for those looking for a no fuss hotel in Sanur as the staff were friendly and helpful.

Booked for 2 adults, 2 Children. Arrived at midnight, there was only one bed for the 4 of us. Staff understood very very little english.
There was no apologies given in the morning to us. No staff ever spoke to us.
Bathrooms very very old and in poor condition.
No atmosphere around the hotel.
Only good thing was the area, there is a supermarket next door and the pool is nice and big and cold.
We left something there and have sent 4 emails, with no response from them.

The location was good. Felt safe and secluded yet good access to shops and beach. The staff were friendly. The set up of the property was good with access to the pool only steps away for my 11yrs old.
The property is run down and could do with a make over or really step up the maintainence, especially in the rooms.

Perfect location, wifi was inconsistant, TV did not have satelite channels as advertised. Comfy bed, great pool and service was excellent. We only had one meal at the restaurant and were disappointed with the food, breakfast was cold unless you had the omelette.

Pleasant hotel, central to beach and restaurants.

My husband and I spent 9 nights at the Sativa Sanur Cottages. We had an upstairs room with a large balcony overlooking the pool. The pool area and surrounding gardens were beautiful, very much in keeping with the Balinese vibe.
The room was large and airy, and the bed comfortable. The shower was inside the largest bath I have ever seen! ( not so good for elderly people getting in and out), but the level of cleanliness was lacking with mould in the tile grouting. The breakfast selection was limited but ok. We found the staff to be very pleasant and willing to help. We enjoyed a very relaxing holiday and would stay here again.

Delightful Stay!

The Hotel was set charmingly around a lovely tropical pool courtyard. The staff were friendly and the room was very
clean and comfortable with a gorgeous balcony & huge bath!

I really enjoyed the complimentary film service as well & if every there was a little problem, the staff came immediately
to the room to sort it out.

I was bowled over though, when I became unwell and the staff were so sweet and just could not do enough to help
and were constantly wishing me better, bless them!

I would recommend this hotel.

Average hotel in a nice, quiet part of Sanur

Small hotel with a lot of traditional features and nice pool. Photos on website are a bit dated. Hotel does need some touch ups. Was excited about having cocktails by the pool and was hugely disappointed not only because the \"sunken pool bar\" was never open but the fact that the hotel didn't have an alcohol licence. Only served Bintang in the bar and restaraunt as no license needed. Breakfast buffet was tasty but the staff were not very forthcoming with tea and coffee. Rooms were cleaned to an average standard. We had a dead cockroach in our bathroom for a few days. No tea and coffee facilities in the room as stated on website. No hairdryer but got one from reception. Bed was very hard (my hubby loved) and only 2 English tv channels (action movies and sport). Most of the staff were friendly and the lady in the spa was lovely. Hotel is approx 10min walk to the beach. Wifi was very hit and miss (couldn't get wifi for 2 days). Would not return to this hotel.

The good the bad and the ugly

Good - room size, great bed, comfortable, good location, quiet
Bad - staff didn't seem to care about the guests. Food was pretty bad, especially the no frills breakfast which was cooked in a slap dash manner by a surly looking girl and slapped on a plate. Buffet brekky ran out by 9am and not replenished. Rotting fruit displays capped it off.
Ugly - swim up bar area was filthy. Grimy cabinets with a few old dirty glasses and used plates and cutlery in the sink. The seats were rough and broken so you couldn't really sit on them. Not that you'd bother as there was nobody to get you a drink. There is a general lack of service and in the morning there was still left over drink containers and rubbish around the pool area, which s right where you sit for breakfast.

Great setting, close to beach but not on the beach

We were under the assumption that this hotel was on the beach , but you need to walk about 5 minutes along a busy street to reach the swimming beach and Boardwalk. Staff was lovely, pool is very nice with pool bar. Room was large, clean and has TV and showe/tub and mini fridge which we appreciate. I would definitely stay there again. Nice breakfast and quiet.

I'm not sure if this hotel likes Australians, the Staff were the most miserable looking bunch I have ever come across in all of my Trips to Bali, the afternoon shift need a lesson in customer service, there were two of them that were downright rude, there was an exception and that was Norman the lovely guy that looks after the pool,the rooms are spacious which is good, breakfast could do with a little bit more of an effort, had to ask a few times if any more food or juices were coming out and that was at 8.30am, The Staff at the front counter were hit and miss ,depending on who was on,my husband asked for a massage and was told that she was going home in twenty minutes and come back another day, came back from the shops one afternoon to the stench of them doing the mosquito poisoning no warning was given to anyone, every other hotel we have stayed at have always given a written note, as for returning to the hotel again No Way, has also put me off going back to Bali,

Common areas such as pool and restaurant were very pleasant with tropical feel. Room was basic but adequate and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. No wifi available in the room. Location was good. Right in the middle of shops and restaurants etc. Breakfast pretty basic. Eggs cooked to order but not much to go with them.

It is our 3rd time staying at Sativa. The rooms have been renovated from my first stay 4 years ago. The only negative for my partner was the TV was an old one with not a very good Reception. The pool area and surrounding gardens are maintained to a very high standard. The buffet breakfast was sufficient and enjoyable. The location of the hotel is excellent, close to beach, restaurants and shopping. Sativa Cottages is a small quiet hotel with excellent friendly staff, will definitely be staying again on our next visit to Bali.

We booked our stay at Sativa Cottages for 10 nights, but lasted only 3 nights. Resort was ok, but no aircon in room well there was one but it wasn't working, so left for another resort. May have been good in it's day, but very old and rundown. Room was ok but nothing special. Don't think we would ever stay their again not after seeing other resorts in the area that were same price but with a lot more luxuries.

The Hotel is situated in a side street, so it was really quiet there. Around the pool there were those 2 storey houses. We stayed in a Deluxe Room for 2 nights; up some stairs, with 1 bedroom, 1 living room und 1 bathroom, but unfortunately without balcony. Our room was on top of the 2nd storey and we had a good overview. The open restaurant provided a good breakfast with a diversity of eggs, fruits, jam and toast. Unfortunately there was no cheese or cold cuts. So we had some fried rice and fried noodles instead.
You can get extra pool towels without charge.

Hotel with individuality and charm

I needed a break from work and wanted a comfortable hotel where I could relax, and enjoy sunshine and swimming. Hotel Sativa (aka Sativa Sanur Cottages) was a peaceful hotel in a delightfully individual style that provided this. The layout of the hotel is a number of 'cottages' set around a swimming pool, and each cottage has two upstairs rooms and two downstairs rooms. The rooms are spacious and clean, and they all have either a balcony or an enclosed private terrace which was brilliant. This hotel is in my view far preferable to the huge hotels nearby that lack character. The staff were attentive and polite and the food and drinks were lovely and very reasonably priced in comparison to what westerners would pay back home. The spa was also very welcome. The pool is not huge but it certainly was enough to cool off and splash about in which is all that was needed. The hotel was being repainted during my visit but this was well managed and not intrusive at all. Areas for improvement are the seating at the pool bar (these are a bit worn and need replacing) and the music in the bar area which was a bit loud, but which they turned down on request. Overall, I enjoyed my break and would definitely return to Hotel Sativa.

Overall service is acceptable as expected. Big/clean room, friendly/helpful staff, easy check-in/out. The hotel locates in an excellent location, quiet n good for taking rest at night. Swining pool is lovely. Anyways, the breakfast should be improved.

We really liked the Sativa. The staff were friendly and the hotel has a very european clientelle, we met lots of nice Dutch people.The breakfasts were a real high point as our 3 children loved the banana
pancakes. The hotel, though still good had seen better days, with a general tired appearance. The pool looked as if it could be better maintained, for 2 days it was green.
The location is great as it is in a quiet part of Sanur, but with nice restaurants close by, and 5mins walk to the beach.

the food in the restaurant was

the food in the restaurant was extremely poor.the breakfast was poorly prepared and presented,the food from the menu was almost inedible,and the staff downstairs seemed more interested in the computer than service.the reception staff were excellent.the whole property really needs cleaning to western standards..the bed blankets were dirty,sheets were clean.there were also many things arund the place that need repairing..the front stair was rail held up with rope and there was peelong paint everywhere.toilets were nor clean.the pool attendant was most helpful.we would not go there again or recommend to anyone.over to you.

Fijne accommodatie onderin Sanur. Verschillende restaurantjes op loopafstand en supermarkt om de hoek. Lief personeel, mooie tuin en een heerlijk zwembad. Wij hadden een kamer met balkon, rustig gelegen leuk uitzicht. Kamer is misschien iets gedateerd maar heeft een heerlijk bed en een goede douche met harde straal. Echt een aanrader!
