The property is beautiful and clean, and my room and view were great. I came to relax, and I was able to do that—but overall, this was not the five-star experience I expected.

The biggest issue was dining. It felt like you had to compete just to get reservations, which was frustrating. There should be better guidance at check-in, especially with the app—I had trouble accessing it.

The food was not the best. I mostly ended up eating at the sports bar and buffet because I couldn’t get into the other restaurants.

it didn’t feel as friendly as other resorts I’ve visited. The staff work very hard to accommodate and I always try to give grace.

There were also small issues, like my room not being re-stocked with towels

Personally, I wouldn’t recommend this for a higher-end experience,

The hotel was very clean! I didn’t get a chance to book the airport shuttle so I ended up paying $60usd both ways. The food for the main buffet was okay good for buffet food. They’re pretty strict on being dressed for dinner meaning no pool outfits. The reservations for the other restaurants they have on site fill up quick! The Asian spot has a very select menu and you were only able to pick 3 food items per person. The staff were very friendly and made the experience wonderful. Food service to the room does take awhile though but it’s expected being that it’s a giant resort. Beach was nice and not crowded the water slides were fun and the gym is good

Floors appeared dirty in room and bathroom as well as shower. Water pressure was also horrible. Rest of the property was aesthetically pleasing. Food was typical resort food with some notable dishes including oxtail, stew chx, and other Jamaican staples. Lobster night was terrible. The well anticipated steak house was comical. Boxed Mac and cheese advertised as shrimp Mac and cheese except there was no shrimp! Better steak was served at the buffet. Entertainment during the night was lacking. Just a water park and small play room exists for kids. Foam party was son and my child enjoyed it. Staff was exceptional. It’s a maybe to stay there again.

There were technological issues with the keys on the first day and then with the reservation system on the last day. In addition, you have reserve restaurants at least 24 hours prior. For example, we arrived on Monday and had to wait until midnight to reserve for Wednesday since the cutoff for Tuesday was Sunday night at midnight. Also the resort credits we received were $651/per room. Their use came with restrictions that actual united their use. Bottom line, we didn’t even use them. Overall the place was a good stay, but the areas of improvement are listed above.

I had a bad experience. My son got hurt on the property. The floors were wet and my son hurt himself and dislocated his right kneecap. He was rushed to the hospital. He had to seek medical attention and had to use crutches. So needless to say the remainder of the trip was spent with him in pain.

We just returned from a 5 night stay. I have to say that this was such a pleasant surprise! We loved this resort and had a great time as a family.

We have 2 boys, 16 and 11. My 16 year old was “bored” for the first couple of days, until he started joining activities. He ended up having the best time and meeting people. The entertainment team is top notch! Very inviting and there is always something going on. Starfire, the kids entertainment leader, was incredible! My son adored her and was very sad he didn’t get a picture with her.

The service was another high point. Whether it was pool side, or restaurants or even the buffet, we never went without. Mikaela and Rose at the kids pool were on top of it! Made sure our glasses were never empty. 🙂

The beach was so gorgeous as well! I will warn you, our view was not great, but we didn’t mind in the slightest. We aren’t in our room much and only sit there before dinner and have a drink or two.

Only negatives: 1) The beds are very very tiny though! My husband and I ended up sleeping on the pull out couch, as it was a true queen. 2) two days the kids pool was closed due to someone poo-ing in the pool. It would be nice to not have it closed for the whole day when that happens, as the other pool kids are allowed in is very tiny!

The room was clean but a bit of mold in the room. I believe it was due to the humidity in the rooms. Clean none the less. The internet cut out sometimes depending where you were in the resor but for the most part worked just fine. The staff was good. However, we had several issues with our room keys and they almost looked annoyed we kept coming back for help. Otherwise, all the serving staff and entertainment team were friendly and great at what they do. The shuttle was confusing upon landing. They kept needing several booking and reservation numbers from us and the process wasn’t streamlined. The beach had rocks in the water about knee height so it was difficult to go in and enjoy the water. I loved the pool areas. The bartenders did a great job at getting people there drinks. The food was really good for an all inclusive. I had the fried fish and beef patties in the buffet and chance I had.

The double beds are slightly larger than a twin size. Coffee stand doesn’t open until 10. Some of the staff were rude others kind and helpful. A lot of the staff could not answer questions about food or types of drinks but most would take the time to find out. It just took a while. The food at restaurants were not good and most of the time, we ended up going to the buffet after. Minimal food by pool and room service options are extremely limited. I’ve traveled to dozens of all inclusive and very surprised that this resort was rated so high. I would say it’s a 3 star family resort at best.

From the buffet, nightly entertainment, and other amenities offered, the Riu is definitely a place I am coming back to visit soon! There’s tons to do with kids, you can even book all of your excursions right on site. I highly recommend.

Our stay at RIU Aquarelle was great. Its very clean and the employees are absolutely amazing. Definitely more of a party resort than we’re used to but it was also college spring break time. The food is *good*. The breakfast was by far our least favorite. The lunch buffet is great as is Pepe’s by the pool. The restaraunts were good aside from the entrees at the Asian restaurant. We booked a partial ocean view and ended up upgrading to the full ocean view when we arrived. It was 10000% worth it — especially after seeing the view from the partial view.

Overall, we had a great stay. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are updated and very clean, and the buffet was amazing. My husband and I actually preferred the buffet over the specialty dining options.

The only frustration we experienced was with making dinner reservations. When we asked for assistance, we were simply told to use the app, without much explanation. What we weren’t told is that reservations can only be made 24 hours in advance. I ended up learning that from another guest. It was a bit frustrating since I had hoped to plan all of our dinners for the week ahead of time.

The nightly entertainment was enjoyable, but the main show didn’t start until 9:30 p.m., which was a little late for me since I’m not much of a night owl. An earlier option would have been nice.

Overall, these were just minor inconveniences and not major issues — we still had a wonderful trip.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the RIU Aquarelle. It was a smaller resort, but it made it easy to get around with a toddler. The pools were nice, the beach was well kept, the entertainment staff was fun, and the restaurants were great!

A few things to note... the beach was clean, but the actual ocean was rocky. We did not do a ton of swimming in the ocean because of this. The restaurants were great, but the buffet was okay. The entertainment is very loud, and we were on the 12th floor towards the end of the hall, so the farthest we could possibly be, and our toddler had trouble sleeping. There is only 1 main elevator bank, so it was very crowded, and you often had to wait to catch the elevator.

Every room has at least a partial ocean view depending on which floor you’re located. Food was plenty to choose from but seemed to circle around the same theme. The specialty restaurants were rather disappointing. They run short on the pool towels and at times have none to give out. The property is clean and very new with staff across all departments going above and beyond. The beach is unfortunately covered with seaweed and to enter the water you have get through a thick barrier of seaweed as well and watch for scattered, sharp rocks hiding just under the sand. The beach has a nice soft sand with plenty of seating, beach volleyball and soccer. It definitely is a party place with music and entertainment that can be heard throughout the rooms until at least 11pm. Overall, everyone can find something to enjoy at this location.

Our safe didn’t work when we first arrived, but someone came to fix it in 15min. We didn’t love every dish/dessert offered in the dining room, but many were outstanding.

Due to the recent snowstorm in New York, I have experienced significant difficulties with this hotel regarding my reservation. Despite calling numerous times in an effort to resolve the issue, no one has answered the main line. It is extremely frustrating to be unable to reach the hotel directly during a situation like this.
I have also contacted both Expedia and RIU customer service, yet unfortunately, no resolution has been provided. I am very disappointed by the lack of responsiveness and professionalism demonstrated throughout this experience.

The only thing was our excursion for catamaran we booked through the hotel got cancelled upon our arrival , instead of in advance. To start, reception checking us in didn’t go over anything, I ended up getting charged an extra $40 for internet that was free. All restaurants had to have a reservation where you were limited to 3 choices, we are at an all inclusive resort, we want to try it all. If you didn’t book a reservation a day in advance you didn’t get it, and the restaurants were never full. You have to get towels with a towel card, which they always ran out of towels. We were approached by housekeeping on Wednesday stating it’s there last day of the week expecting a tip before their days off. The entertainment staff was the only saving grace, they were engaging with the kids. If you plan on going in the ocean bring thick bottom water shoes, ten feet in and it is debris from the hurricane (broken glass, plates, silverware)

The TV in the room wasn’t connecting to our phones.
The roof of the area where the fitness classes were taking place was missing for the whole week. Got sunburnt the first day.
The manager wasn’t very helpful or understanding of any of the problems. He did not care at all.
Staff in the dining room was mostly friendly and Crazy Lily and Spark were great fitness instructors.
The shows were amazing. Great dancers!

We truly enjoyed our stay, but the way our departure was handled was unacceptable and has overshadowed an otherwise nice trip.

Our airport transfer was arranged through the hotel’s affiliated transportation company. We were given a confirmed pickup time and followed all instructions. Despite this, no driver arrived. There was no communication, no update, and no response to calls or messages — all while we were traveling with a toddler and facing the risk of missing our flight.

Because the transportation was booked through the hotel’s partnered provider, we trusted it would be reliable. When it failed, we were left scrambling and had to pay out of pocket for a last-minute taxi to the airport.

While the front desk apologized, this was a service arranged through the hotel’s official travel partner, and guests should not bear the financial or emotional burden of that failure.

We are requesting reimbursement for the taxi expense at minimum, and we believe additional goodwill compensation would be appropriate given the stress and risk this situation caused — especially traveling with a young child.

We hope management reviews this seriously and makes it right.

I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent stay at the Riu Resort in Falmouth. My first room, 0541, smelled strongly of mildew, had mold in the shower, and very low water pressure. When I requested a room change, I was charged an additional $128.00 USD despite the poor condition of the room.

I was told to leave my luggage in a designated area at 12 p.m. and that my new room would be ready by 1 p.m., but it was not available until 3 p.m. During this time, my luggage was taken to another guest’s room without my consent, and my travel pillow went missing.

These issues — room conditions, the unexpected charge, mishandled belongings, and long delays — made my stay extremely disappointing. I am requesting that this matter be reviewed and addressed appropriately.

First time I’ve ever written a review but had too. Been to a lot of places but this place was the best. Beach, restaurants, drinks, cleanliness, shows, etc were all 10/10. And the people and staff were behind a 10/10. Every person genuinely cared and tripped over you to help. Jamahl our server on the beach was the greatest. Food was amazing as was the setup of the beach with chairs that can go in the shade under the palm trees or move them forward to get sun. The best!!

Good's: The hotel and room are nice, clean, and in good shape. Food selections at the buffet offers variety of choice and taste good, but after 2 days, it gets boring. Need more options. We didn't dine at any of the specialty reataurants so can't comment. The staff are friendly.

Bad's: Take 1 star away for the following reasons:

1) Nightly and kid activities are very limited. We were there for 3 nights and nothing good to watch at night. The kid club is very small and not much activities either.

2) No cocktails to order from if you dine in the buffet restaurant. Only ONE type of beer was offered (even at the bar). If you want any mixed drink, you need to go outside the restaurant and order and bring it back.

3) The beach has a lot of seaweed (but somewhat out of the hotel's control)

My recent stay at RIU Aquarelle in Jamaica was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the vibrant atmosphere, warm hospitality, and stunning surroundings set the tone for an unforgettable getaway.

The bar and pool staff were truly outstanding. The bartenders were not only skilled at crafting delicious, refreshing cocktails but were also incredibly personable and attentive. Whether relaxing poolside or enjoying the swim-up bar, the team consistently checked in to ensure we had everything we needed. You could feel their passion and dedication, and it truly elevated the entire stay.

Cleanliness throughout the resort was impeccable. The rooms were spotless, modern, and beautifully maintained. Housekeeping did an excellent job daily, ensuring everything felt fresh and comfortable. I came by myself for my birthday, on a solo trip. I HAD A BALL. Everything was perfect from the room, the staff, the entertainment and the resort in its entirety. Beautiful clean room, the food chef's kiss, Gabrielle at the front desk was very accommodating, as well the service staff. 1st time in Jamacia, definitely won't be my last. Thank you Aquarelle for such a great experience. Yall made me feel at home. Will be back soon.
