My friends and I (college aged girls) came to Melia Braco for our spring break this year. Overall, we were very pleased with our experience here. Cons: The resort ran out of food and drink ingredients quite frequently. Also drink selection is kind of limited in general. Ex: they did not have mint for mojitos all week long and many time when we called for room service, they were out of a lot of things. Additionally, we were very disappointed in room service in general. It took them 2+ hours to deliver our order every time, and that was only if they picked up the call in the first place. Also, it is important to note that this resort is majority couples/families. If you are looking for a party atmosphere, this is not your place. However, there are a few bars on the property that stay open late and you can kind of \"make your own fun\" per say. We were shocked to discover that Melia Braco had another exclusive part of the resort called Level. Level has their own pool, swim up bar and cabanas etc on the beach. Definitely look into the differences in the 2 sections before you book your trip. However, as college kids, we got what we needed from the main resort area. Pros: The swim up bar at the pool was awesome. The staff members were all super friendly and fun. Live music most nights. Wednesday night beach bbq was cute/fun. Steakhouse, hiabachi, and pasta restaurants were all delicious. Rooms were pretty clean. We always felt safe at this resort. Villas are pretty spread out.

This was our second stay at Melia Braco Village. We came back because we love the smaller resort, we love being able to snorkel right off the beach, and we love bring right on the beach. I bit disappointed that it seems that routine maintenance seems to be slipping. I waited 20 minutes at night for maintenance to come and fix my door lock, my daughter and I were unable to get into our room during that time. Our fridge was leaking water and formed a rather large puddle on the floor. He mopped it up with a towel and said it’s fine. Leaked a little more, but seemed ok after that. And the hot tub on the Level side wasn’t working for 3 days! We noticed many places around the resort where electrical wired were exposed, capped, but exposed.

The service I received was beyond outstanding, the staff are so attentive. The feeling of the property feels like home, the rooms are clean and spacious. Toni at guest services was the icing on the cake, when I told her it was my anniversary she set up a dinner for me and my husband that evening. Btw she can sing. The only little concern I had was the landscaping which they are currently working on. I am a really picky person and based on my OCD you won’t regret your stay here. Thank you Melia Braco

The toilet and shower backed up everyday. The bar was not stocked until the last day and obviously upper mgmt. arrived The bed mattress needs to be replaced. The view was amazing. The rocks in the water need to be removed. The patio of our room was tranquil. Breakfast ended at 10:30am which should be at 11am or noon for an all inclusive. The buffet was cleared out at 10:30am everyday. One evening the buffet was closed for dinner forcing us to eat at one of the other restaurants or room service. Very weird for an all inclusive. Overall a good experience but a few things would make this truly a 5 star resort. I was shocked when I saw it just opened 4 years ago. It is dated much longer than 4 years

I really enjoyed my stay. The property was the perfect size for our group of 2 adults and 4 teenagers.
The staff were wonderful, always smiling and friendly!
The steak house was the food stand out, the hibachi was also very good and the chef Carleen was a great singer, had us all singing along!
Jofrey,Patrick and Omaine were our fabulous waiters.
We all enjoyed the bar at night and even ended up in the nite club a few times.

The property was very pretty with lovely trees and lush foliage. The beach was ok in the swimming area but some parts were rocky and the floor of the ocean was mushy in some areas. The walkways need to be better maintained. Cement was broken and chipped away in many areas.

There were definitely some moments where my patience was tried (when our room wasn't ready on time, when it took multiple phone calls about our bathroom outlet that wouldn't work, etc), but the flip side of that relaxed attitude is that the whole resort was relaxed and the staff was really laid back about guests getting whatever they needed. We didn't get push-back about any requests--extra food orders, an additional cot in the room so the kids didn't have to share a bed, etc.
I think the resort was actually pretty full when we were there (early January), but it didn't feel crowded at all! Just enough people to make it feel lively. We stayed in a room in the \"Level\" section, which I'd recommend if only because that opens up a whole other section of the resort. There's another stretch of beach, a second pool & pool bar, a poolside restaurant for breakfast and lunch, etc. Being in the Level rooms also enables you to make reservations at the Rasta Pasta and Nikkei restaurants (it's first come first served otherwise.)
The ropes course (\"obstacle course\", I think they call it) was definitely cooler than we expected! My 6 and 8 year old boys had a blast, and there was even a more challenging section that they weren't big enough to tackle. The guy running it was also super laid back about giving extra turns on the zipline, etc. It was a much cooler ropes course than the Treehouse World near us.

For sure not a 4.5 star as Expedia is saying ... 3 maybe. Very hit and miss with hot water, a lot of areas are not very clean including the market place restaurant. The steak house is nice and the Italian rasta pasta restaurant is good (but slow service and crowded due to the lack of dinning options on the property).
A lot of neglect on the buildings in general like half painted walls, broken trim, warped cabinet from humidity in the restaurant, same in the room with the balcony door impossible to close because of humidity.
Services from personal is very good, beach is also great, not crowed and lots of places to stay in shade on in sun.

It was really disappointing because we had stayed at another Melia in Mexico and it was insanely good. The service was non existent here, the food was awful, no hot water in the shower, rough towels, and we were made to feel like we were an inconvenience to the staff. Jamaica is beautiful but this resort is a no-go.

As the singer Jimmy Buffett sings Jamaica Mistaka and I could not agree more. Our trip to Melia Braco in Jamaica was a great big mistake. The first sign of an issue came when we arrived at check in time and were told that our room would not be ready for another hour. Ok … Once we were lead to our room the first thing to hit me was the smell of mildew. And it went downhill from there. The shower tile was cracked and moldy, the air conditioner ran non stop with no relief from the humidity and, add insult to injury, I could not even take a hot shower as the water leaked out the sides of the handles on the wall and the temperature was at best tepid. I called and requested some one to repair the deficiencies and was told by the maintenance serviceman that came to the room that the water was as hot as he could get it and there was not much that could be done to make it any hotter. Again I called and requested this time for a different room as this one was clearly run down and was not satisfactory. I always read the negative reviews with a grain of salt and figure that some people were never satisfied. I am not one of those, on the contrary I am rather easy going but this was not a five star experience. We were promised that at 10:30 the next morning we would have a new room. More like 4 o’clock before we got to see another room. Again the smell of mold was evident but not as bad as the first room. The same issue with the a/c and the hot water. Only good thing about that place was where the dining room was situated. It is a boring resort.
Cleaning staff go into rooms and clean the room when not asked to, also they like to re-arrange the contents of your suitcases so bring a lock for your bags. Boring resort, garbage beach, poor entertainment.

While I was there I was injured. Went to the spa had a couple services and they treated me like I were family. They were also sweet. Went to the registration office with a problem making long-distance phone calls on my phone. They were so sweet they made the call for me. Went to the nurses station And I thought it was terrible service.

There was inconsistency in almost every aspect of this resort other than the friendliness of the staff. The buffet offered mostly overcooked tasteless food. Some of the bartenders couldn’t make a proper drink. Our housekeeper barely did anything other than make the beds. The swimming pool looked like it had mold all around. The air conditioning in the room barely stayed cool.

Considering that this is suppose to be a first class resort, I felt like the service, the facilities, the staff were not reflective of this. I spend a few days at this resort recently and was surprisingly disappointed especially considering the price we paid to stay. The mini-bar that is available with your room, does not include any real alcoholic beverages. The rooms are organized at villa complexes with no elevators so if you are located on the 3rd floor, you have to trek up the stairs with all items in tow. The food choices were limited during break, lunch and dinner, that actually going back to your room for room service is more ideal. There are limited on resort restaurants, rasta pasta- we spent 1 hr and 35 minutes before we got our entrees (yes I kept track because this was beyond unacceptable) and when we finally got our food, it was hit or miss. The gnocchi was good but the lasanga literally was made with watered down ketchup. With all this being said, I have stayed at other resorts at Jamaica and I would gladly stay at any of those resorts again than to stay here. This is just some of the issues I had with the resort, as there was more encounters.

I liked the property and set up of the hotel. I loved the restaurants that you had to make reservations for, they had the best foods. I also like how friendly all the staff is, shout out to Orane for being of help to us on our trip. I did not like the buffet options and flies were frequent when you sat down to eat since it is an open area. I guess that is out of the hotel’s control. I also didn’t like the approach of one of the staff members in the buffet. I was covered up coming from the pool to grab something to eat, a suggestion made by another staff member, when I was approached by a staff member - I’m unsure of her name, that said to me verbatim “I’m going to tell you this one time, you’re not allowed to do this. You need to cover up and you’re not allowed to brunch’n food out of here.” I let her know that I was not staying in the buffet area for long and that the idea was suggested to me by another member of the staff at the hotel. I also saw plenty of people before me do it, so I did not think it was a problem. I felt like I was being reprimanded by a parent and did not appreciate her tone. She also said this to me in front of a group of people while she was seating them. I felt as if she was trying to make an example out of me as I did not see her say anything to anyone else before me, including my younger sister who had gone in right before me. Other than that specific experience, I enjoyed my stay at the Melía, would be great if there was more entertainment at night

The property is breathtaking and huge. I would suggest booking the Level rooms since they are larger but the regular villas were just as nice! As a level
Guest you have access to more amenities and top shelf alcohol. The staff were amazing and would go above and beyond to satisfy you! Special shout out to Amieka and the JTL rep J. They made life much easier and I will return just for them!

My wife and I visited to celebrate our anniversary and were overall very pleased. The weather called for thunderstorms all week, but as we learned, it will often rain for part of the day, then be sunny and wonderful the rest.

I read a lot of these reviews before we left, and we really found them helpful. Generally, we found that the most-common things people disliked were service, cleanliness/updating and the humidity in the rooms. I can agree with everyone's perspective on these, but you really need to take it all with a grain of salt.

The service is overall very good. There is an element of \"Island time\" and a lack of urgency by some of the staff, but I also saw many staff members going above and beyond for me. One major tip: TIP. It would cost you next to nothing to put even a dollar in every hand, but it can make the difference for your stay. Tipping early and often got me top shelf spirits from the other side of the resort (we stayed in the Village, not the Level), speedy attention to room needs and the first fresh towel at the pool every morning.

The rooms were always clean and we found them well-maintained. There is certainly a difference in when you go though. During the \"off season\" they make simple repairs and updating throughout.

Jamaica is very humid. Understand that. You need to set your room AC to the locked-in 69 degree low, or you will have water streaming down your walls, and making your sheets damp. Lowering the AC did the trick.

Property was clean and well maintained. My room was bright , clean with no odor. I liked the resort very much except for the cats that came in the dining area. My sister was allergic. I was expecting to get real good home made Jamaican food daily but that was not the case . Breakfast was good, lunch the food had no taste. Dinner the first night was Asian that was the only choice available. I did not go to Jamaica for that kind of food. I could not get my curried goat or jerk chicken. If you want a special dish like oxtail you have to go to guest service and request it for the next night. They will make it special for you and your party. I have been to other resorts in Jamaica and I had all the Jamaican food I wanted all the time. If you don't care about Jamaican food and you want peace and quiet this is for you. I enjoyed the entertainment, the friendly staff and all the sugar cane and coconut you want. Thanks coconut man. If the food changes I would visit again but if it reminds the same no way will I return. I felt cheated after spending all that money after all resorts are all about the food then everything else. It was my birthday weekend so I made it work of me.

The property seems run down/ not maintained well. There were no activities going on throughout the day. Most of the activity planned, never happened or got canceled. There was hardly any other people staying at the resort which made it private but very strange, seemed like a ghost town. The room was clean however the humidity left our room musky feeling and there was no hot water. The shower warm became warm if you left the shower running for 15 mins before. The staff was friendly.

The property was very nice, and the views were incredible. The staff made us feel like family. While we were there, we celebrated my wife's birthday. The entire staff at \"The Level\" celebrated with us. From Happy Birthday in the morning to singing to my wife in the evening, they really made her day.
The only issue we had was not having any water pressure for two days. Having traveled abroad before, we just chalked it up to third-world country issues. The staff got everything back up and running by our next to last day there. Overall, the trip was incredible. We were even able to help release sea turtles. Thank you Melia Braco for a great vacation! We rested and played well!

Beautiful property, rooms are nice. Staff very courteous. Only had breakfast there the options were good. Kids enjoyed the beach.
Rooms are a little distant from the main facilities.

They’re due for some upgrades. The phone in my room didn’t work for room service as I checked in very late and missed dinner.
I wasn’t able to get hot water in the shower. I don’t go on vacation to watch tv but the TVs are very poor quality displays.

Excellent resort if you want to vacation by yourself or with your spouse or girlfriend. The staff was very friendly and professional with the Jamaican charm and culture. The property is very spacious and well maintained by the landscapers. The Village courtyard very nice especially on Fridays nights when they have their outdoor dining and entertainment.

Had a horrible experience for my 40th birthday at Melia Braco Village. I contacted Guest Services 2 weeks in advance to ensure that I had dinner reservations for the day of my birthday. The front desk confirmed the reservations upon check-in for that night. My family and I got dressed up for a nice birthday dinner to find out that all restaurants were closed. There is a huge disconnection in communication with the staff. Guest Service representatives were extremely rude and unhelpful in resolving any issues I brought to their attention. I had to demand a manager after many failed attempts for resolutions. The resort was pretty desolate so I don't understand why my simple request went unheard. I have been to several resorts over the years. We have celebrated 3 birthdays at different resorts in different countries so far this year and this by far has been the worst.

I like the games and the obstacle course. I didn't go in the pool or on the beach so I cannot rate that. I enjoyed some of the food. I expected other Jamaican cuisine that the property didn't offer. Room service could have been better. My bathroom wasn't very good, nor is the floor in the room. It was lumpy. The restaurants were okay.

The food needs to get worked on. Everything was very bland and extremely limited. It would be nice to have multiple restaurants opened at once, and room service to be a bit quicker. Usually I don’t leave bad reviews.but just really do yourself a favor, and go elsewhere.its should be 2-2,5 stars hotel,not 4.5 stars.except of renovated rooms, everything is wrong.food was gross,pool old& shallow and water was dirty.beach from has so much seaweed .dont expect beach towels before 10 am,or spoons on the table.service is extremely slow,people are not but untrained.not suitable for families with small kids,for families with teenagers or couples over 50,no fun activities

Housekeeping does not give you fresh towels daily you have to request it. When we requested fresh towels the housekeeper told us she has to she what she can do. We eventually got them but that was not the answer we were expecting. The phone in the room had terrible static, the toilet kept needing service and the temperature in the room was always humid if you turned down the a/c just a little the entire room started fogging up.

The beach on the property is gorgeous. It is small, but it’s perfect sizing. The water is crystal clear and very blue. The pool is great as well as the pool bar. There could be more pool chairs laid out, though.

I loved the jerk shack, i ate from there everyday. I loved the resturants you have to rsvp to. The buffet was ok it had carribean and American dishes but i love my food hot and found the food to be warm (unless you got there as soon as it was cooked) There are cats on the premises but they dont bother you. The lizards hang out of the ceilings outside and keeo your room cold to stop them and the mosquitoes from setting up shop.

We did not like lack of ANY snorkel gear as it is a stated \"inclusive\" activity. Only one of the 4 catamarans was functional--It was fun! None of the beaches were really swimmable, water was only 3 feet deep, many rocks everywhere large and small providing foot pain! Beds were not queen or even full, they were twin--for two adults no less! Rooms were otherwise comfortable. Minor issues with the shower. AC was thankfully wonderful. Although Expedia say they checked 3X during our booking, and said \"No dress code\" at any of the restaurants--there was at the \"876 Steakhouse\"! The staff accommodated us though elsewhere, so that was acceptable. The Staff was the best part of the experience--absolutely the best people working there, wanting to make your stay the best possible! Wonderful people who truly care about their guests!

We stayed in the Level, everything from the welcoming demeaner of the staff, the freshly cut coconut water, Staff's tedious efforts to keep everything beautiful, the bar games in the swimup pool to the nightly snacks and fresh towels made our stay at Melia Braco amazing!

LOVED my stay here!! Everyone was was super nice and friendly. Micah the front desk man was incredibly attentive and helpful in anyway he could be. My flight was changed unexpectedly by United 2 days after the date I was supposed to arrive and the resort gladly changed my booked dates free of charge. The location is so convenient you are close to all the main attractions of Jamaica. I'm 100% glad I chose this resort will be coming back!

Very nice short distance to quality beach front. Very good restaurants and other amenities. Rooms were nice. Some problems with getting things like towels and shampoos, etc. power went out randomly a couple times but always came right back on. Staff is either hit or miss, either very friendly and helpful or very passive and rude. Men staff tended to be friendly than female staff and more helpful. Some female staff at the pool bar specifically were slightly racist and made it a point to serve all black individuals before any white individuals. Overall just try to ask the males or get male waitstaff when possible.

Majority of the staff was super friendly. Everyone was upbeat and smiling. The property itself needs so major improvements. The first room we were placed in had the worst smell of mold - we were exhausted and stayed in there one night the requested to be moved. The front desk moved us right away - no questions asked. The 2nd room was OK - minibar fridge was barely cold but they did stock it up for us every single day and room was cleaned really well. My son, 15 months, got cake all over our bed and we requested sheets - two men came up right away and changed them for us. The service was exceptional. I was more disappointed about the pool more than anything. There is a severe algae problem - the whole pool needs a remodel and a serious shock treatment. Pool towels are dang near impossible to grab - they need to stock up on that supply for sure. Beach was fantastic. They have two awesome piers right in front of the resort, great scenery for photos. Food was pretty good. I recommend the Jerk Chicken from the outdoor shack. The room service food was great, in my opinion better than the buffet food. As for the buffet the breakfast was the best. Fresh fruit smoothies and made to order omelets - yum! I wish the owners would put some money into this place to clean it up and revamp it - we were really happy with the staff - they were really nice to us from the moment we walked into the door.

We loved this property! It was not our first time to Jamaica, but our favorite stay to date. We arrived a couple hours before our check-in time, but the Level staff didn’t ask any questions, they just checked us in and gave us the details on the property and restaurants.
Our room walked out to the beach/ocean and had a patio, the scenery and serene sounds were intoxicating. The staff were all very nice. Greeted us by name daily and would come to our patio, if we weren’t on the beach, to offer our favorite drinks/foods. The room was quite nice. With the room being on ground level and leading right out to the beach we were happy to see that there were additional patches on the door to prevent intruders AND security was always around. We would inadvertently see security and be slightly startled, but also very relieved, that they were in the vicinity, at the same time!
The Level side had a private beach and pool area, so there were always plenty of loungers, towels and room for us. The pool bar staff - super entertaining! There were entertainers nightly and the restaurants were awesome! We made reservations for two nights and walked into restaurants for two nights and had room service other nights! All were delicious; at Rasta Pasta my mate had thee best salad he ever had - EVER, so the wait staff let us meet the chef to compliment her personally.
We had thee BEST time at Meliã Braco Village. Both staff and other guests were great. My goal is to go back again and again!

Very nice hotel. The food, drinks and entertainment we excellent. The room had a couple issues but they were very quickly resolved. The room was spacious and had a nice view. There were a number of restaurants to choose from. The buffet-style one had different things to choose from every day. The pool was great, kids love it. It’s also big enough for adults to have their own part of it. The beach is not big however you can do some snorkeling which was really cool. Make sure to bring the necessities, sun screen and cold medicine are very very overpriced if you need to buy them at the hotel. Bring long pants if you want to be admitted in the steak house restaurant.

The grounds were well maintained. The staff was very nice and helpful.The property-supplied photos were definitely retouched. The food was decent, breakfast was a reliable meal. My husband loved the jerk chicken made every afternoon but often complained that it was undercooked. Overall I would rate this property as a 3.5 star vs 4 to 5 (what it was rated as).

I loved that the property is close to the beach and has something fun to do daily.

I disliked that the rooms held moisture and caused the beds to be damp and be wet badly. They also held a smell in which can lead to mold if it is not already hidden in the walls or behind the beds 😱😠

We had a five day stay, asked about water sports every day and were turned down (with no reason why) every morning. Wait staff was unorganized, seemed annoyed when we ordered drinks and uncourteous. Food was underwhelming, except for Prime 876 (steak house). Activities were limited and pace was slow. Seemed more of a resort for locals, we stayed at a name brand resort in Jamaica three years ago and were treated amazingly well, with unforgettable food, daily fun activities and impeccable service.

Can't say enough about our experience at Melia Braco Village. We would go back in a heartbeat.

The staff were super friendly and helpful, including Monique and Odain who were amazing bartenders. Everyone was willing to go the extra mile to help you out.

The resort is very private. It's nestled away in its location, not near other resorts, so beaches were quiet (a great honeymoon atmosphere) in comparison to our trip to Negril and 7 mile beach, where resorts are back to back to back on the beach. We enjoyed a day in Negril, but it was very nice to come back to our resort afterwards. Some reviews say the beach was rocky, which I feel I need to clear up a bit. When not in the water, the beaches are amazing. Manicured sand, awesome cabanas, beautiful views,. It's just not a beach where you can walk out 40 ft into the water and still have sand. (unlike negril) But you can still go out 20ft until you hit rocks in most areas. Because of the business of Negril, I still wouldn't trade our beach for theirs all things considered.

Food was excellent, if you end up staying here, you have to go to the Rasta Pasta to try their jerk chicken pasta (yah mon pasta). The main buffet eating area has the best view/ambiance in the whole resort. It overlooks the pool, which in turn overlooks the beach. It was a joy to go down and eat all the time. If you're looking for a steakhouse, bring pants as they are required as part of the dresscode.

Would go back in a heartbeat to this resort.

We didn’t get to because of my medical concerns. However hotel will not even except physician letter for refund. When does money count more than someone’s health !?
