Good staff experience

The staff were great; helpful and friendly. The AC in the bedroom and the fan in the dining area weren't working, but it kept cool enough with the one AC unit that I didn't bother with it. My room was by the front, so I could very clearly hear a restaurant's live music from across the street, but I felt it added to my experience rather than detracted from it. The music didn't play through the night anyway, so I was happy to be situated far away from the party areas.

Pool small. Never saw anyone it.
Had issues when my brother came as a “guest”. They were weird vigilant about it even though he wasn’t spending the night
The “heart” of Playa is a good 15 minutes walk

Great place to stay

The room was huge. I asked if they upgraded me by mistake, but he said no, that was room I ordered. After looking at the hotel's floor plan, it seems 5 out 6 rooms are suites, and only 1 in 6 are standard rooms. Anyway.....

There was huge amount of space. You get a full kitchen, and separate dinning area, a huge bedroom, a ton of closest space, and a very nice bathroom with a shower that I estimate to be 6 feet by 4 in size.

The place looks fairly new. It is Mexico, so workmanship is not the same par as western standards and building codes, but since this place was fairly new, it lacked the usual water stains and peeling paint you come to expect in Mexico. The floors were tile and clean, and it looked like the kitchen was never used. Bathroom was clean too, with scented toilet paper. The provide some soap and shampoo too.

I found that you can get some \"basic\" places to stay in the 30 dolar range, but if you cough up the extra 20 or 30 bucks, then you're in a whole other level of accommodation.

I never used the pool. But it looked like the water was filtered. The hot tubs on the roof were not functional and probably filled with month old rain water. I would not suggest using it unless you find them functional.

Wifi was great, and located in the room. TV was standard TV, no CNN or US news stations. Good for Mexican soaps, some movies, and the Simpsons.

Huge King sized bed. Mattress a bit firm, but soft enough. Cover was comfortable. Aircon worked well.

The best part off this stay was the comfort of the bed ---most comfortable bed I've been in and at a reasonable price and the cable television was great as well --- Wifi. was sketchy and hot tub didn't work or heat --and the drinks, water, And snacks that were quoted to be furnished for you Inside the room for convenience are NOT complimentary , so beware! !

Nice place...With complications.

The facilities and staff at the hotel were both good. We had a king suite with a large kitchen, big dining area, big bed room and huge shower with great water pressure.. Refrigerator was full sized and staff provided coffee maker, pans, utensils on request. Maid service daily.
The hotel is on the north end of 5th avenue so it's near the shops and restaurants. Parking is very limited.
The worst part actually has nothing to do with the facility itself.. there is construction going on all around it six days a week. Two nights there was demo right next door at midnight. You also get the urban noise at night... Dogs barking, kids yelling, loud music at any hour. The hotel acts like a sound corridor which amplifies the problem.
The pool is small but it's a dipping/cooling pool. We used the top terrace- good chairs, hot and cool tub, shower and bathrooms.
The hotel provided beach club passes which was nice but the local beach areas are narrow and can have a foul are stench.
If the noise could be drastically reduced I would recommend the hotel but otherwise I would suggest paying more and choosing a resort.

Nice place. On quiet end of Quinta.

Construction is everywhere in Playa Carmen. Beside us, 8am start mon -fri. Boo. Other than that very nice stay. Close to everything. No party noise. Nice pool &hottub.Beaches in Carmen not so nice. Take a colectivo bus to X-puha or telum.

We stayed in room 101 junior suite and we loved it. We have 2 kids who love to swim and the pool is just outside our suite. The only downside is when some guests would stay by the pool until wee hours of the morning and make noise or laugh out loud, we could hear them from our room. We also saw some people eating by the pool and leaving their garbage there but the hotel personnel cleans up the next day. The entire place is kept clean all the time.

The room is very clean and with lot's of space. They provided soap and shampoo. The terrace has 2 jacuzzis although only one was working when we were there. We totally enjoyed this additional space in the hotel...star gazing, watching sunset, drying up our clothes.

The hotel personnel are very friendly. We will definitely go back to this hotel.

Just a few days in the sun after touring round Mexico, hotel is well positioned, away from the really busy part of 5th Ave, and near the beach, restaurant opposite is fantastic!!

Great Value, Location and Staff

We booked the hotel sight unseen based on reviews and we were not disappointed. The location is on the north side of the strip, making it a great starting point for all activities. The staff was beyond helpful, the room was big, clean and maid service was excellent. We would go back without hesitation.

Easy access to the quinta avenida. Clean and great air conditioner system for hot days. Not a resort and perfect for those who prefer to experience their vacation outside the hotel scene. Internet was not working during the whole trip and it took them some time to fix the cold showers.

DON'T STAY HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyday there was an issue-unsanitary room, debris in water, no air conditioning, rust, mildew, water from shower running into room, no hot water, damaged furniture, early morning noise disturbances, inattentive/unconcerned/lackadaisical staff. This hotel is only 3 years old with all of these issues of a 23 year old hotel. Deplorable and appalling!!!!!!!!!!!1

Great Value @ Great Quiet Location

Warning: parking is on the street- there is no such thing as \"parking\" in the hotel. You may be temporarily unlucky as we were and arrive at a time when the street was packed and no place to park. You wait a bit (until the restaurant at the corner starts to get empty -which btw, don't waste your time going; it's not as good as they will tell you) and you find a spot. Parking rules are unclear, but we got no tickets even if we were parking in a 'forbidden' spot.

Not so good: hotel has no acoustics, so if someone is yelling (like maids like to do from one floor to the other), or if the neighbours are in high heels, you listen everything!

Not so good: bathroom is cute, but so impractical. Ends up flooded every time you shower.

Not so good: rooftop patio would be better with some shade. Sun can be unbearable and there is no shade at all.

Not so good: it would be nice if rooms could become totally dark; curtains are ok, but not totally darkening the room.

Not so good: they will tell you that they give you tickets for a private beach for 2 people. However, read the small font: those 'free' tix require min consumption per person of US$15! Just to get a towel and a sun-bed.... when the sand is so deliciously comfortable to be on. SO, beware, there is no free lunch.

The BEST: strategic location steps to beach and 5th avenue (where the action is), but still in a quiet area.

The good2: brand new, everything looks nice, spotless.

The good3: blender in the room! great for yummy home-made smoothies!

The good4: staff is friendly and useful in giving you tips.

Bambu Suites is just off the north end of Quinta, the main street where everything happens in Playa. It's also an easy 2-block walk to the beach. The two full beds seemed a little short for our over 5'10\" selves, but otherwise the room was very comfortable. The kitchen had a big fridge and a microwave - very handy for making our own brealfasts and lunches sometimes, and keeping drinks cool. The living room area chairs could perhaps have been cosier, but I'm getting picky now.
We were able to walk out to the small dipping pool, with sunbeds that always had a choice of sun or shade due to their courtyard location. Ideal spot for using the wi-fi and reading.
The neighborhood was quiet, except when the mariarchi band began it's evening round at the fish restaurant across the road and woke us up from an afternoon nap or two. Incidentally, that same restaurant was often packed with locals in the afternoons. (We didn't eat there because we're vegetarian.)
The supermarket, a few blocks away from the beach, is well worth the walk for low prices and a slice of local life.
The beach is long golden sand, and always has an onshore breeze. We were never too hot, but the sea was always warm. I swam in the sea more than I have in years. It wasn't a great beach for snorkelling, though. You can see the high-rises of Cozumel on the horizon.
We would definitely recommend Bambu Suites. The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. We had a great vacation.

A little gem amongst giants

Fantastic apart/hotel with a boutique feel to it. A wee bit off the main drag of 5th Avenue, but literally only by a few minutes stroll which we welcomed after eating out etc. The rooms are huge and Lopita and the cleaning staff ensured that everything was spotlessly clean every single day. Aldo and the reception staff are there to help and are very friendly. The beach is literally a few hundred yards away, so the pool at Bambu is rarely used. We stayed for 15 nights and would have happily stayed for 15 more.

Potential, but not yet realized

Bambu Suites is about a year old. First the good -In many ways its a very nice, small hotel. Our jr. suite was very spacious, very clean, attractively decorated, wii-fi worked fine, full kitchen. It's about 4 blocks from ocean, on the new end of 5th Avenue - many restaurants and shops very near by.

Now the bad - there are just too many things that are wrong, basically all of which could be readily corrected if the owner paid more attention to the details. Of 2 air conditioners in the suite, only 1 worked (the other one just the fan worked). The hair dryer would run 10 seconds before tripping the overload switch. One bed was on a slant due to improper installation of the foundation

Great Boutique Hotel, just a bit far from all the action

This is a new small and modern hotel, the staff was extremely nice, the hotel has 3 hot tubs on the roof, which you can use up until 1AM. The only drawback was the location of the hotel. If you walk down to 5th Ave. which is where 80% of the action is, it will take you 10-15 mins walking. This normally wouldn't be an issue, but when it's 92 degrees and the humidity is close to 70% it can be quite a trek. At the rate Playa Del Carmen is growing, I'm sure this hotel won't be on the outskirts anymore within 18 months.

Se puede tener las dos vías en playa del carmen.

Las Suites Bambu eran perfectas. El personal era estupendo y muy servicial. Especialmente Carlos y Josue que trabajan en la recepción frente. Si quieres ir solo, o como una pareja o con amigos o familia este hotel tiene mucho este hotel es perfecto. Está justo al final de la quinta avenida. si quieres relajarte puedes. Pero si quieres la emoción todavía está cerca.

Ubicado en la quinta bis y calle 40, está a una cuadra de la famosa quinta avenida, sin tener el ruido y ajetreo de esta. El personal siempre atento resuelve las situaciones que se presentan. Le falta mantenimiento a las habitaciones, sin embargo la alberca y el jacuzzi están en perfectas condiciones, los cuales ayudan al final perfecto de los largos días en Playa del Carmen. Las habitaciones tienen licuadora, horno de microondas y servibar, con lo cual puedes ahorrarte el gasto de un alimento.
