There was an issue with the booking, I had booked for 3 nights, but they only had 2 nights booked on their system. Also their system was showing different prices, to the booking prices, so I had to agrue with them about the cost of each night. Lastly the aircon was not working in the bedroom, so we had to move rooms after the first night.

Hotel is in a run down relatively poor area as a result there were groups of young people hanging around and in the quieter areas we did not feel safe. Security of the car park was a concern.

The restaurant seemed under staffed and was in some disarray with long wait times and poor communication.

Don’t eat here if you have allergies

The worst place have ever eaten as a coeliac. Daughter was given ‘penne’ as a gluten free meal. It wasn’t a gluten free version. Some staff were doing their best to help and clearly hasn’t been given any training on allergies. One member of staff (and the allergen menu) said chips were gf, the next member of staff said they were not. Do not eat here if you have allergies. The staff were lovely and just doing their best.

Generally good. But the electric car charging facilities were very poor. Firstly they looked dangerous/ out of action and secondly they didn’t have commonly used plug sockets. The nearest alternative chargers are a long way away, which was extremely inconvenient. I won’t stay again unless they upgrade their electric chargers.

Nice place for a stop on the way through France. Outdoor pool and play area was great for kids!
Seems everyone else had the same idea!
Restaurant gets booked up quickly and we struggled to eat due to delays getting to the hotel with the now inevitable immigration delays at Caen port. Uber Eats to the hotel was a saviour.
Breakfast on the other hand was utterly appalling. Came down at 0830 to find the buffet completely devoid of food and the staff very slow to react and stock up. Even then it was limited. Not sure what the issue was that a breakfast advertised to 10am was lacking 90 mins before that.
If they sorted out the food and drink issues at this hotel, it would be a much better experience for all guests.

This s place is a dump. Filthy carpets, stained chairs, nicked up walls. The place looks like an 80’s roadside motel from the states that someone bought and attempt a facelift on. The lobby area is nice but the rest is crap. The hotel is located in an industrial area and boast a formidable fence and Elyria gate system to enter their grounds. We were truly taken aback after having spent several days in Villages in Western France. I wouldn’t even recommend this place to my ex wife! (Well, maybe!)

Novotel generally of d high standard with a pool and a good restaurant in a quiet area of south LeMans with private parking . However lift was out of order, stairwell was incredibly smelly and room was quite smelly. Breakfast service was a lower standard than usual with slow table clearing service even at the end of the breakfast period. There is an amazing bakery La Feuilette about half a mile from the hotel providing alternatives to the paid for breakfast. Novotels normally high standards were slipping a bit on this occasion, but on balance still a great stopover midway between southern France and Calais Eurotunnel.

Hotel room contained items from previous guest including shower gels and jewellery (handed to receptionist). Bathroom clean and bed freshly made. No complaints there. Outside play area for children and outdoor pool free to use. Brasserie attached to the hotel very convenient for food and drinks. Play area for children indoors with games and books etc.

Property itself is great as very modern. The issue was the temperature in the room. As a family of 4, we had the window wide open which of course then kept us awake with noise outside and we had to have the fan on. It was unbearable and my 7 month was really struggling. Throughout the night I had to go and stand in the corridor to get some air. We were told we were not able to move rooms and all the rooms are like this.

Staff were pleasant enough but this Novotel is nowhere near the usual standard. The decor is dated, especially the rooms themselves, and the reception consists of someone with a laptop sat at the end of a long table. Stayed on 2nd floor with very strange (unpleasant) smell in the communal hallway. Novotels are normally much better than this one

Unfortunately despite us having paid in full for half board for a family of 4 prior to arrival, the arrival staff had been misinformed and were only expecting a meal booking for one adult. The staff did rectify this but it was an unnecessary stress after an 11 hour drive.

No one cares at this hotel, second time staying here, both times equally as bad, this time the hotel smelt bad, the room was dirty, there was a dirty sock taped over the smoke detector in the room, cleaners clearly can’t look up, aircon didn’t work, told reception & they clearly didn’t care or try & help, won’t bother again.

Welcoming service and good restaurant, safely located with good access to beautiful lake walks. Property outside a little dated and rooms relatively basic, reception areas and bar very modern and clean. We ate here and the resto was excellent, there were 2 very large groups in from a local horse show but the service was nevertheless good. As English travellers on our last night in France, we enjoyed the fish for our dinner! 😄

Had asked for a twin room but hotel said yhey never received the request. Poorly laid out and limited numbee of twin rooms. A bit out of town too but there's a tram line right outside. Don't get yhe hotel to call a taxi, theyre more expensive than if you fo it yourself.

Horrible service and incident

We stayed in Novotel Le Mans. The hotel was very nice however we had a horrible incident occur and was told we would receive a full refund for our stay. My dad's room key wasn't working after breakfast Saturday morning. The front desk lady came up to fix it, not even the master key would work. The sensor was completely dead/broken. We waited 2 hours she still couldn't get in the room, we were extremely late for work and said we would come back when it was fixed. We couldn't wait any longer. My dad didn't have his computer, money, car keys, jacket, nothing it was all locked within the room. We then had to call a taxi to get to work and told the front desk lady that when they do get the door sensor to work to please call us and leave the door locked as we don't want our valuables being accessible. When we came back to the hotel, our hotel room was completely left unlocked and wide open, because they said 'well we didn't know if we could get back in'. We had a lot of valuables and money and specifically told them not to, which they had confirmed they understand and still deliberately went against our wishes because they weren't sure if they would be able to get it open again. They had no one there to monitor it or anything. They said they would have the manager call us Monday for a refund and to see how they could make this up to us. This whole situation was extremely hazardous, what if there was a baby or kid trapped in the room and they couldn't get in? or a fire?

Not knowing it was the start of holidays, the only restaurant in the area open was that of the hotel. For which there was almost a 2hour wait list. Upon checkin, no one told us a reservation was recommended. Which makes it fairly late to dine with two children after a long day of driving.

Public spaces had been refurbished but the bedrooms are from 20 years ago. Also the exterior of the building is horrible. Menu for our children who are allergic to dairy, soya was terrible no accommodation for allergies as standard. Also rubbish breakfast for allergies. Main meal of the evening rib eye steak was terrible & cheeey. Told staff , nothing offered as compensation. Having stayed at many Novotel around the world I would never stay at this one again

They were renovating the lobby and the restaurant and seem to be making the best of it. They had already done the rooms. I have stayed here many times and I was impressed with the nice way they upgraded the rooms. The parking is quite ok but gets tight towards the evening. The surrounding area is residential so you need to eat in or go into town (10 minute drive) Wi-Fi signal always good in Novotels as they cater to business people..

Nice hotel just a shame about the beds.

The hotel was generally ok and quite clean, but the beds were rock hard and the kids had the sofa bed and the mattress was basically a bag of springs in the rough shape of a mattress rather than actually being something you could let someone sleep on - we needed to have one of the kids in the bed with us and use 3 duvets on top of the \"mattress\" spring bag thing to make it so that it could be slept on.

After hours of driving it was lovely to be able to check in at 9.30pm, get something to eat for the children and grab a couple of drinks at the bar to unwind. The rooms were very clean and the bed extremely comfortable, would definitely stay there again if in the area.

Having booked in advance for a family room for four, providing details of all in party and ages of children. To then arrive get checked in for four and to then go to room and have beds for three wasn’t best. On reporting to reception and speaking to the same receptionist that booked us in, she then didn’t believe I had two children and that I booked a room for theee. She wouldn’t look at the booking on my phone and wanted to check her own records which clearly showed a room for four and that they had none left. They then squeezed a put me up bed into a room which was already tight for space. Not a great experience after a very long day and drive.

We had a lovely experience at this hotel. Welcomed by reception, restaurant service was brilliant - evening meal was nice (I had the black burger and sweet potatoe fries!) and breakfast very good. The waiter recommended wine (see attached pic) and it was devine! Kids entertained (and us at one point) with the interactive games board in reception. My 10 year old impressed with the console too. I would Recommend as a short break. We also went to the race circuit which was good too. Nothing negative to say!

Novotel Le Mans was a story of two halves.

Hotel is a great stopping off point.

Family room was very very cramped and a little out of date but clean and comfortable.

Breakfast was chaos.
By 9am there were no cleaned tables - plenty of dirty ones.
I cleaned a table, set a table ( with some help ) most food, cups, plates, were gone. Coffee machine not working. I eventually gave up. It was like a school dining room with people left to work through the chaos. We had to ask again and again for different items. Eventually giving up.
What food there was was not good. I think it didn’t help feeling like we were at the end of service even though we were there an hour before breakfast finished. The staff were working hard - all were polite. They were just swamped.

Maybe we got a bad day but it made the start of a long drive a little fractious.

Not sure we’ll be back. Let’s see how reception react when I say i’m Not paying for breakfast.

Nice Hotel, but location let it down.

Hotel was Ok, bathrooms a little dated. Was a bit further from the centre than I expected, however the tram was very close. Not sure I would have been too keen on returning to the area in the dark though. Staff were great and very helpful.

The hotel is convenient for the motorway, and clean. We were disappointed that the pool and play area were not in use - a large hole in the ground where the pool should be and a bit of a building site.. this hadn't been mentioned previous to turning up so promises to children of a play at arrival were not fulfilled.
While the need was comfortable the sofa bed made up for children was quite poor abs the metal frame could be felt through the mattress. Dinner at the restaurant was ok, though limited for vegetarians.
Breakfast was very good. We only stayed one night and would likely look elsewhere if traveling through Le Mans again.

A bit difficult to find, my GPS didn't recognize the street. Neighborhood is so-so. Perfect hotel for an overnight stop like we had. Pool and play area outside for kids as well as indoor and outdoor restaurant seating. Rooms were both fine, nothing to write home about but more than adequate for our needs. Ample parking.
