Everything was great. Small things could be better: In the room, \"Heat\" did nothing, but setting the Thermostat to 'cooling' actually switched the HEAT and fireplace on... (room 104). Also, it would be lovely if the top windows could be somehow covered like the patio ones - it gets super bright in the morning.
But overall, great stay, one of the best in Carmel, and Parking is a big plus.

$528 a night. The room was run down damaged. I don't think it has been painted since 1980. Wall damage from roof leaks. Dirty bathroom. The carpet was gross. The entry door didn't lock correctly. Metal-framed windows are horrible. The upper wood walkways are dry-rotted (painted over). Zero wayfinding signage. The fire sprinklers are ancient. Check-in staff had the personality of a rock. Could have said \"Thank you\" or been less of a goon. Gone are the old days of the fun Tally Ho and Pine Inn. Now it is just ripping off tourists for lousy accommodations. Shameful. Never again.

My family (2 adults 3 children) stayed last weekend. We booked the suite (two queen beds with sofa bed) at $500 per night. Great accessibility to carmel beach and downtown. But the sofa bed had almost broken mattress. We couldn’t sleep on it so we folded back to sofa and slept. So the suite , while it says sleep up to 6, barely accommodate only 4 people. So if you plan to reserve the suite because you expect 5-6 people sleeping there, don’t ever try it.

Unfortunately, we have to downgrade this place because of the experience we had. Specifically Wen woke up in the morning after our first night, there were hundreds, if not, thousands of ants crawling on the bathroom floor. No doubt they were driven into the room by all the recent rains. When we brought it to the attention of the person at the desk first thing in the morning when they open, they said all they could do was spray. Of course, we did not want to stay another night in a room that had just been sprayed for ants. While the first staff person was perfectly nice, there was no apology and no offer for any other form of compensation such as a reduced rate for a $500 a night room, or use of another room for a second night as they did not look fully booked. So we chose to leave and not use our second night. There are many nice things about this place, but we feel they should've offered to reduce the price of the room or some form of compensation for our experience.

Small (12 rooms), quaint older hotel with a great location just steps from downtown Carmel-by-the-sea and short walk to the beach. A little bit dated but adds to the charm, in my opinion. Coffee available in the office but no breakfast which seems to be the norm in many of the hotels in the area. They have free parking available. Would definitely stay there again.

We enjoyed the convenient location, the comfortable room, the seaviews from our room, the included onsite self-parking, and the pleasant staff. We experienced some difficulty using the tv remote, but a staff person was able to re-sync it with the television, and then it worked fine. The bed was very comfortable, but the bed pillows less so. The bath towels were rough, and the inn provides poor quality one-ply toilet paper. If driving yourself to the inn, please remember to bring your own bath towels and bed pillows and toilet paper. I think you will have a great stay in Carmel-by-the-Sea.

When we went to check in the office was closed. Another hotel guest told us to go across the street to check in. If she would have not been there we wouldn't have known what to do. Someone called us and told us that 2 people called in sick. The manager should have been there to come in to cover that hotel. Completely blown away at lack of service.

Tally Ho Inn is a beautiful place, the staff is wonderful truly a very enjoyable experience. The location is excellent. During our travel we had to change our reservation due to a hurricane effecting our home, Tally Ho was more than accommodating in dealing with this. I would highly recommend stay here.

The patio is a must to sightsee ocean from Carmel. The Jacuzzi tub which could fit two persons is great. The only thing i would mention is one side of the mattress was broken...I will need to sleep on sofa :(

The room was exactly like the picture. It was roomy, well laid out and the deck would have been lovely if weren’t raining. The staff were friendly and responsive. The location is convenient to everything and is downhill from most things, so when you’re tired and headed back at night, gravity is on your side. All the furniture is comfy and that bathtub is huge. I would absolutely stay at the Tally Ho again.

What a lovely spot! You are in walking distance of the beach as well as the downtown shops, bars, restaurants, but feel like you are a world away. Our room had a very private, wooded terrace that looked out at the sea, with folding doors that opened up to the whole room. There is a fireplace to keep it cozy at night, and a huge jetted tub for luxury. Outdoor areas included an always-on firepit, and another a terrace area with a view - if we'd been part of a group, these would have been terrific places to gather. We did enjoy hot brandies by the firepit the night we arrived - great welcome! The charming office also has a fireplace and coffee/tea/brandy/fruit for your drop in pleasure. Only thing we missed was a coffee maker/tea kettle in the room, as the office closed at 8 at night, so we couldn't make bedtime tea. BUT it is an easy walk to the office to grab coffee in the morning, and the folks across the way at their sister property (Il Fornaio) were happy to send us home later at night with cups of hot water. We LOVED our stay here, and will happily return.

Breakfast NOT included, room was falling apart

We booked this place specifically for the free breakfast and jacuzzi and was OK with paying a premium for it compared to similar places nearby.

When I asked about the breakfast during check-in, I was told that specifically because I used hotels.com, we would not get any breakfast. Perplexed, I contacted hotels.com who assured me breakfast was included. After reaching out to hotel staff again, they reluctantly gave us a $10 coupon for 1 day. We had booked multiple nights so we decided not to use the coupon at all.

Our room was falling apart and the jacuzzi did not work properly when we arrived. Fortunately Jessie from maintenance was able to fix it quickly, and the remainder of our stay was pleasant. 5 stars to Jessie!

The room was spacious and had a great view, and the hotel is pretty, but don't be fooled by its deceiving looks.

We visit Carmel-by-the-sea at least once a year, and this is the first time any hotel has treated us as second rate guests. Unfortunately I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Company picks it up early in morning. Bathroom door warped, sticks doesn’t shut properly. Do not promise extras offered. No modern amenities: microwave, complimentary water in room. The room was very spacious and clean. The hotel staff was super friendly, even surprising us with a bottle of champaign for my wife's birthday. The restaurant, Il Fornaio, was an excellent restaurant with a Michelin quality menu and wonderful service. We were super impressed with servers Francisco and Kathy for each of our dining room experience. They were incredibly professional, personable, and helpful with our meal selection. We truly had a wonderful experience overall at Tally Ho.

Nice hotel but very disappointing that when we arrived to check in at 6 o’clock no one was to be found except a note telling us to go across the street to the other hotel to get our key which was not across the street it was down an alley with no notification of where to go we wandered around for 15 minutes until we figured it out The hotel itself is OK definitely not what we expected and FAR from a 9 to 10. It’s definitely dated but clean almost seems abandoned best part is the parking that’s about all the positive we can give it hotel room does not have much there’s no robes or coffee maker, or even a bottle of water Bathroom had chinking and caulking that was falling off but overall clean the hotel is a three out of five in our opinion

We loved staying here and will absolutely come back. The location cannot be beat. We loved having 2 bathrooms and all the extra room, plus the outdoor fireplace. The best part is how walkable it is to everything in Carmel By The Sea. The only tiny complaint is the parking garage is so narrow - hard to park an SUV down there, but all the other positives far and beyond make up for that one small detail.

Good but expected more for the price

Pros: We stayed in the most expensive type of room so we had a beautiful view, a fireplace and a large quiet room and large marble bathroom. The location was great and free parking in Carmel is wonderful!
Cons: the TV was impossible to watch because of constant rebuffering. The outdoor deck had an area of rotting wood which seemed dangerous. The decor needed some updating. And for the price I expected a happy hour or maybe at least some welcoming cookies on arrival.

Beautiful small inn. Very comfortable, large room with view of ocean & Pebble Beach area even from our first floor suite. (The second story suites do involve a lot of steps so wouldn’t advise those if you have a lot of luggage or mobility problems…although there is someone to assist with luggage). Large jacuzzi tub in bathroom….just wish it would fill faster as it has a waterfall type faucet so harder to keep water warm…minor issue though!

Tally Ho is well located in Carmel. Rooms are large and clean, and generally quiet. The hotel offers an electric car charger, which is great, and the staff was very kind to reserve it for our use during our stay. Our only comment is that the wood stairs leading up to the rooms are starting to deteriorate and could use replacement.
