A night club disguised as a hotel. Music so loud you can barely think let alone sleep. Goes on until 2am or later every night. Staff does nothing about it. Stay away unless that’s what you’re looking for. I will never stay at a Moxy hotel ever again. Worst hotel experience of my life.

The only thing is there was construction right next door and the train is loud if you are trying to sleep in it’s not going to happen.

A mediocre hotel—I’d say it’s the Marriott’s poor cousin. The room lacks a mini-fridge and a safe, even though there is clearly space for them; furthermore, a lightbulb in the chandelier was burnt out. There is also no room service. The entrance faces the train/subway tracks, making it impossible to pull up and park directly in front of the hotel; finding the place was very confusing, as the street is overrun with homeless people. The night security guard on Sunday was extremely rude when asking me to leave the lounge, making for an uncomfortable experience. After checking out, I asked the front desk staff if parking was included; they confirmed that it was. However, upon arriving home, I discovered I had received an email billing me for parking—something I had specifically asked about more than once to ensure it was already paid for. I would not stay here again.

We stayed 2 nights because it was close to a concert. Great location in downtown where theres plenty of places within walking distance. The room was clean but extremely compact, however made the most of its limited space and didnt bother me at all. There was no mini fridge or food storage in our room. The staff were very nice. The hotel bar was expensive. Overall i would stay again but not more than 1 or 2 nights at a time.

I really loved my stay at this hotel—the atmosphere, cleanliness, and overall experience were great. However, I did notice that I was accidentally charged for parking, even though it shouldn’t have applied to my stay. I’m sure it was just a simple mistake, but it’s something worth double-checking. Aside from that, everything else was wonderful and I would definitely stay here again.

There’s no parking. Expect to either leave your car about a block away. There’s parking right in front but only for 12 hours. Parking is about $30. It’s the bar district so expect loud music, noises, yelling till 2 am on Saturdays.

This was hotel was super tiny, no closet space and no desk space. The staff held the toiletries in ea floor, however, they ran out so fast. We had to pretty much ask the staff to give us toilet paper twice, and she gave my husband attitude. I was ready to go.

While the staff was very helpful/pleasant, we had multiple issues. First room we were given could not have possibly met building code - bed was so closely wedged to wall that you had to “scooch down” to go to bathroom. In 2nd room, TV didn’t work (but was fixed), sink backed up. I had dried mud on a shoe and asked staff to sweep/clean floors - dried mud was still on floor. Common areas were not clean especially elevator.

This is definitely an urban hotel! I had no issues with it, but I grew up in New York City and am used to noise, watching out for things, and general street smarts. My room was on the 10th floor so I didn't hear much street noise when trying to sleep, but coming back to the hotel at night there were all sorts of clubbing people out (even on a Thursday) and music blaring in the streets. My room was really nice and clean and I had no problems with any of it. However, at night there was no one checking the people coming and going in the hotel lobby (and some people came in just to drink at the bar) so having anyone being able to go up in the elevators might concern some people. The hotel is for a younger, hip crowd and I would not recommend it for seniors, families, or conservative suburban people.

The rooms are small. The bathroom doors are the sliding barn style that left large gaps that equals no privacy. No fridge or coffee pot in the rooms. Wanted my room cleaned and a note was left that they couldn't get in the room (room was not locked). When I talked to staff about it, the simply did not care and did nothing to correct the problem. We stayed on the fourth floor and the music from the lobby was still very loud at night. I won't be staying here again. If your looking for a place to relax, this hotel is not it.

Honestly I didn’t like it and i wouldn’t stay there again. I can see why other people might but there is no parking, they charge 55 for valet but if you call front desk they assure you it was 35… so I don’t know who’s stealing. Plus if you have bags you’re lottery going to have to walk to the entrance because due to train rails you can’t get to the front which is not advertised on the description. Overall, thank god it was only one night

I recently stayed at this hotel in Houston and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The nightly rate was extremely high for what was offered. The location is right next to the city train, which made the area feel unsafe and very noisy.

Outside the hotel there were many homeless individuals, and the area smelled strongly of urine. The overall environment felt very run-down and uncomfortable. At night, the noise from nearby clubs made it very difficult to sleep.

To make matters worse, the staff was rude and not welcoming during my stay. When I was checking out, they even asked me to leave a 10/10 review, which felt very inappropriate considering the experience I had.

I will definitely not be staying here again and would not recommend this hotel to others.

The train station is literally outside of the door, which makes it super convenient to get somewhere but also you can hear it approaching. They also had a Dj going, which seemed like a club, not complaining, but it was loud. I bring earplug everywhere, just in case, and I definitely needed them to sleep. It’s not an area or hotel for children, or anyone that’s looking for a mellow time. Bed was decent, nothing to gush about, but it got the job done. Houston isn’t my jam but the Moxy wasn’t the problem and enjoyed my quick stay.

The Moxy downtown Houston was a great stay. My fiancée and I stayed here for only one night but it was everything we needed. Room was clean, check in was easy, great location in downtown Houston, and lots of bars nearby. We even got 2 free drinks when we checked in. They had lots of complimentary items such as free gold fish in the lobby and each floor had a locker with extra pillows, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, makeup wipes, and shaving supplies. I would recommend this hotel to anyone under 30 years old. This is meant for younger people. The hotel is right next to a bar so you can hear some music at night however that is not the hotels fault. Great stay !!!

I was only there for a single night so can't speak to every aspect of the hotel. The room was clean and well furnished. Check in and check out was seamless, and the staff were helpful and friendly. My only complaint would be that the bathroom door kept getting jammed, and the attached shower gel bottle in the shower didn't seem to work, but these were minor issues. Would definitely stay here again.

The rooms were clean, and you can tell the hotel is older but recently remodeled. It has a fun theme and stylish decor. That said, this isn’t the best choice if you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing stay. It definitely caters to a younger, more party-oriented crowd.
There was hip-hop music playing in the lobby at all times. We heard people in the hallways until very early in the morning and didn’t get much sleep. Our room also faced a bar next door, so the noise continued late into the night.
For us, it worked since we didn’t have kids and were only staying one night. But if you’re looking for peace and quiet, this may not be the right fit. On a positive note, the receptionist was extremely friendly and welcoming, which we really appreciated.

I want to start by saying the customer service at Moxy was truly excellent. Every staff member I encountered was attentive, welcoming, and genuinely kind. They made check-in smooth and created a great vibe downstairs in the lobby area. The team there really has hospitality down.

Unfortunately, the room itself was a major disappointment for me. The bed and mattress were very worn down and uncomfortable. I woke up with back and neck pain, and the pillows were flat and lacked support. A comfortable bed is extremely important to me when traveling, and this one did not meet expectations. The room layout also wasn’t ideal…I wasn’t fond of the sink being outside of the bathroom, and the overall space felt very small.

Because of the discomfort, I actually checked out earlier than planned. It didn’t feel like a relaxing stay at all.

Parking was also inconvenient. There was construction in front of the hotel, so unloading and carrying luggage required walking almost around the corner. Valet was $55 per night, and the nearby garage was about $30 per night, which added to the inconvenience.

The only reason I’m not giving a one-star review is because the staff truly deserves recognition. They were amazing, sweet, professional, and welcoming. This review is not a reflection of them at all. However, due to the room layout and the need for better, more updated and supportive bedding, I personally would not stay here again.

We stayed here this past weekend. Upon arrival, we were greeted and offered a complimentary drink at the bar, which was a nice touch and made check-in feel welcoming.

The hotel itself is located on a road you cant drive on, but you have to pull around the corner to access valet. Unfortunately, the valet staff weren’t very friendly and seemed hesitant to even provide a luggage cart, which was a bit off-putting.

Like several other reviews mentioned, the room was quite small. There was no refrigerator, safe, or traditional closet—just a few wall hooks for hanging items. That said, the AC worked well (though it cycled on and off frequently), and the shower and bathroom amenities were excellent. A nice bonus was the locker area outside the elevator with extra pillows and blankets available for guests.

One major thing we were not warned about: the hotel is situated between two bars, and the music at night was extremely loud from around 9 PM until about 3 AM. If you’re a light sleeper or sensitive to noise, this is definitely something to consider.

Overall, the stay wasn’t awful, but it also wasn’t my favorite Marriott property. There were some nice touches, but a few drawbacks would make me hesitant to stay again.

As other reviews say it is noisy at night because it's downtown however they provide ear plugs and have a sound machine in the room. So we slept great! We will definitely be staying there again. Has a lot of great bars and restaurants you can walk too.
