Loved this place! Sweet people. Helpful staff. I loved the neighborhood with it's architecture, tapas, wide range of price options. Easy to get taxis, too. AC was great; we actually got a little too cold and agreed to shut it off. I stayed in Room 3, all women, and everyone was respectful and kind. It’s a low-cost hostel so keep your expectations realistic. But if you just need a bed to sleep in while you explore Barcelona, and save your money for food and fun, this is a great place.

The hostel location is great to the none-touristy areas very local eateries, bars and close enough to the other \"touristy\" things you can or have to do. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Plus, the room have air conditioning (AC) which is awesome. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!

Negatives: Bathroom ceiling tiles have mold, there are no full length mirrors in the private rooms, internet is very slow, no hooks on door or wall to hang towels in private rooms, hallways are VERY humid with no fans in the bathrooms for shower, there are a LOT of steep stairs. They don’t participate in any typical hostel actives (eg family dinners, bar crawl, walking tours etc) or help you find them.

Positives: it’s near the metro, plenty of people on the street (even late at night), good tapas across the street, discount codes for all the local attractions in the lobby, free (bad) coffee 24/7, occasional fruit offered at breakfast was so nice to have as a snack (they should ditch the bad muffins & pastry and stick to oranges, bananas, and toast). Good kitchens—very clean!

The dorm rooms looked nice and we would return to them in a group because the prices here are low compared to other spots. But we wouldn’t do a private room here again.

It might not be for everyone, because it's not a hotel, but a hostel, so you need to know that you will share bathroom and other facilities (even if you have your own room, which I did). You will probably also need to climb stairs, so, if you have a problem with that, you need to alert them in advance.

That said, you are getting what you paid for, so, if you're working on a tight budget, this is great. It's a short walk from the nearest Metro, there are several nice restaurants and take-aways in the area, it was mostly quiet (it's a hostel, remember), and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

It was a very convenient location. Super close to everything. Bars, restaurants, and a concert venue all in walking distance. The free coffee, and breakfast and water were super nice and for a hostel has a lot of showers and bathrooms. Even a terrace. Most of the staff were super helpful too.

My stay was good. But in my view they should improve the conditions of their rooms for example put light in every bed. I would say also they have to do something about their toilet and bathroom to reduce the noise because from the room where I was I could hear the noise when people took shower or used the toilets.

The staff is amazing. It is a clean place to stay. You have free coffe, tea, watter and apples available everyday. The room was cosy, except no windows (wel, it had a window but it was blocked by the hostel add outside of the building). The breakfast could be much better. Only cheese, ham, slices of bread, milk, coffe and cereals. Well, it does it job but you feel like something is missing, especially when you need to full you stomach before get out. But overall, it is a good place to stay one night. Clean, safe, good bath, and something to eat before you leave. Except for the price. I paid 68€ with no private bathroom.
With less than that, Ive been in another big cities (like Madrid, Milan, or Lisbon) in much better condictions (private bathroom, much better breakfast, TV, double bed...). If we've paid less 30€, I'd give it 5 stars.

The staff was polite and helpfull.The showers and wc was clean, but the hostel should consider to do something about old sheets and towels with holes and stains on...
Our stay was unpleasant dew to the location of the double room we booked which was above the entrance and reception with a window shut with the hostels sign in front of it, therefor the room was always dark and noisy. The most unpleasant was the noise, all the time and especially in the night. Somehow smoke came in the room from outside, even though the windows where closed. Hope that the other rooms are better but I would not recommend to book this room if you want a quiet and smokefree room.

Do not stay here. This place is not for a traveler who wants to meet other travelers. It’s not a social hostel at all. I was placed in a room with two permanent residents, one guy was living there with his 8 year old son. I didn’t expect to stay in a place like this. I would give it a better recommendation if it was much cheaper because it is definitely not worth the price. Just spend a little bit more and get a better hostel. Research more before committing.

Awesome stay at MamboTango

This place is a little gem. It’s fantastic location wise and is close to a lot of places to eat drink and do all the touristy stuff. The hostel itself was very good, clean and friendly.
What I most liked about MamboTango were it’s staff. Especially Natalia and Fiorella who were just wonderful. They guided me to all the best places to visit, various bars and food places to go. They were always happy to help and made their guests welcome with a smile.
Couldn’t fault them at anything and they were incredible.
Would I recommend? Definately! 😀

Our room was a tiny square with no windows, a ventillator that kept flapping and an airfresherner that continuously went off throughout the night.

Our room was barely big enough for the double bed. There was no window whatsoever. It was awful. The mattress looked like somethig from a prison cell. We had one thin pillow each - which was a joke. The duvet was gross. All we could hear was our neighbours having loud sex.

Disgusting. But luckily we only had to stay one night.

Cosy Intimate Hostel in Poble Sec

This is a very cozy and intimate hostal with very friendly and helpful staff. The tightness of the space contributes to folks talking more. The kitchen is fine, if a bit tight for more than one. The basement living dining room is very chill and has a couple computers for use. Breakfast is the standard free super basic fare, as to be expected perhaps. Had a great time!

Bleak hostel with low prices, kind staff

Hostel is in convenient location and staff are kind. Prices are very low especially for non weekend stays. However, I would not stay here again because the hostel was bleak- bad breakfast and guests who seemed to be living there long term to avoid homelessness. My partner had a row of bites on his torso after staying here (either bedbugs or spider). I would pay a little extra to stay in a hotel (budget business hotels are only a bit more expensive, and you have lots of choices if you are willing to stay a bit further from the sites- given the cheap and high quality public transit I would recommend doing that instead).

I like the area customer service is great at arrival but then it goes south, key card not working having to walk 4 flights a couple of times not fun. Average Stay at Mambo Tango

This hostel located near Paral-lel metro station. We stayed one night at triple room. The room was cramped with 2 single bed and 1 extra bed, almost no space to open our luggage. Shower and toilet outside bedroom and shared with other guests. Bedroom, shower and toilet were clean. Free breakfast consists of bread, cereal, jam, butter, and sliced cheese available every morning. Receptionist was fluent in English and helped us with direction to go to attraction around Barcelona.

The stay tab Mambo Tango was not bad but it is not a social hostel. The public areas are small and it's quiet so you don't get many chances to meet others in the hostel. Great location to the Metro Parralel stop which connects to every line you need. It's also right beside a popular tapas and sangria street. As a solo traveler I wouldn't recommend.

I was really impressed by this little hostel. We had booked a private room and it was exactly that, set at the back off of a courtyard. The shower and loo may not be to your liking if you don't know your friends well but the room had everything that we needed, including a kettle and was clean. Contrary to other reviews, we had no problems whatsoever with noise - it was a weekend too. We didn't have breakfast but it looked adequate enough. The downstairs common area looked welcoming but we were out so didn't use it. Location was superb for where we wanted to be.

Cosy hostel in great location

Mambo Tango is a lovely hostel in a well situated neighbourhood for the main tourist attractions/transport links. We had a double room at the back of the building with a balcony; the bathroom, kitchen and lounge were shared with a small dorm on the same floor. The room was cosy and comfortable - We had air conditioning! We didn't have any trouble sharing facilities and the hostel was well kept and clean. The neighbourhood was great, there were a number of restuarants within minutes of the hostel and everything (the port, Mountjuic, Las Ramblas) were all a 15 minute walk away. The nearest subway station, Para lel, was conveniently minutes walk away. The staff were friendly and helpful - They do a walking tour each day, which although we didn't get chance to go on, other guests highly recommended it. Breakfast was included and although basic, set us up well for the day! We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend. Thank you Mambo Tango!

We have been traveling for the past couple weeks & in & out of different places. This hotel was a joy. When you first arrive you will see that the neighborhood is a bit sketchy, price for being near the city center where all ur happening is located. If you are driving a car they have a parking garage, owned by another--it's about 24 euros for 24 hrs and provide staff/receptionists located on site, you have to give up ur keys though but nothing happened and the staff were as expected for a parking garage vendor. We walked down the street like 3 min walk to the hotel and the receptionist electronically opened the door for us. It was a small space as described online but it was very homey, cozy and the staff was friendly and accommodating. We stayed at the room with two twin beds, the shower was right outside our door and the bathroom was also a shared space facing parallel to the shower. There were a few other people staying at the hotel but we didn't really run into any problems at all. You can cook. You can have a load of laundry done and folded for 10 euro and they provided a continental breakfast. Also Sangria night was the nite we stayed and for the price for all you can drink it was pretty cheap. Therefore if you're like us just looking for a place to spend in your room sleeping so you can spend the rest of the time walking the city and the beach.. This was an excellent place. They also provided a free walking tour at 10 am. Plus a grocery store was nearby.

Good Deal for the Hip neighborhood!

Staff was super friendly and great, atmosphere was chill..room was a bit snug (6 beds) and wouldn't want to stay if it gets to hot, no ac. Balcony was awesome!!! When coming in at night I hated how the lockers were metal like grade school so they were super noisy, I felt bad making noise when people were sleeping! Bathroom was really clean though, I was surprised. Kitchen was maintained nice and clean too..coffee was hot every morning, very important to me. Good cheap hostel if your solo and just need a bed to crash for one or two days in a great fantastic area!

Cute little hostel...

This hostel is adorable and in a great location. The staff is friendly and the facilities are clean. I chose it because it includes linens and lockers with locks, unlike most hostels. Unfortunately, we could feel every single spring in the horrid mattresses and decided to switch hotels. If they upgraded the mattresses (even to standard super hard European ones), I'd certainly consider staying there again.

Do NOT stay here!!

HORRIBLE!! They use an outside shuttle service that must be set up through the hostel. The staff was inept at making the reservation correctly forcing us to take a taxi at extra cost. We were told during the reservations process that the service could return us to the airport for our 6am flight. Found out later 1st shuttle was 4:40am but would not reach the airport until 5:40am--hardly enough time to catch the flt. Frustrated we asked when the last shuttle of the evening was and were told 8:30pm. We opted for this and staff 'scheduled' it. We went to the lobby a few hrs before pick up to confirm the pick up was set and were told it WAS NOT. They said they made a mistake and shuttle would not be possible. We asked why we were not told sooner. They said 'we didn't want to wake you'. I'm going to MISS MY FLIGHT and they didn't want to wake me???? Spent 2 hrs complaining to desk staff who was supposedly on the phone with the manager relaying. Found out it wasn't the manager, but rather another staff member who was then speaking to the manager! What?!! Asked several times to speak directly with the manager and were refused. Our only option at this point was to take a taxi--again, at additional cost. __Good customer resolution would have been to offer to pay for the taxi to make up for all of the problems and lack of rest they caused. Instead, the staff and management refused to accept responsibility. Stay away from this place.
