The Hotel Nuevo Triunfo was exactly what I wanted at the price. Clean, comfortable, nice staff (someone always on reception) and only a few minutes walk from the Metro station Paral·lel. It is also well located to walk to Fundació Joan Miró (Miró Museum) and the Montjuïc hill, castle and park. All of which I did.

The single room I was in was rather small but it has a balcóny. The staff are very friendly and several of them speak good English. The breakfast buffet in the breakfast room was good for continental breakfasts. There are several restaurants and supermarkets in easy walking distance and it is only 5 minutes walk to the nearest metro station.

The hotel was clean and staff were very friendly. There was a bad smell in our room on arrival and we opened the window to air out the room which seemed to help a little but we then discovered that it was from the bathroom and had to ensure we kept the bathroom door closed for the entire stay so the smell wasn’t too strong in our room.

The hotel itself was ok, however it fell short in a few areas which, for the amount I paid was not great. You could be forgiven for thinking that the reception staff (one person) were security, vetting anyone who entered with a ‘buanas’ as a greeting. That is it. I’ve stayed at much cheaper places and received warmer welcomes.

I paid over €120 per night however, the safe was extra, charged per night, as was breakfast. The AC was the biggest surprise. It was controlled centrally so regardless of the temperature you set it as, and the other guests were cold, you got hot air coming in. Rang reception and they told me that other guests were cold so I should switch off the AC. I had to open the window to let come cool air in but of course was woken up by people shouting and dogs barking in the street. The hotel is next to an Indian restaurant so got a few people gathering outside and speaking loudly. If you are a light sleeper and prefer cooler rooms, this is perhaps not the best option for you. The location was convenient for the metro.

The bathroom smelt of sewage for the duration of my stay which I did not expect.

Overall, it felt like a hostel, looked like a hotel, cost like a 5* with staff that needed a reminder of the warmth of customer service.

I would not stay here again.

LIKES: the room was small but big enough for one person. I didn’t mind its size. Everything was nice and clean ! Appreciated daily cleaning service too. The beast was very basic ! (A choice of cheeses, salami/ham, fruit, mini croissants and small frittatas) but considering it’s a 2 star hotel is was good enough for me ! Coffee was lovely too. Great location, close to lots of shops, public transport. I didn’t even use my travel card, I managed to walk to all major sights ! So if you don’t mind walking, I would do it that way, you’d see so much more.
DISLIKES: air-con in my room did not work, they told me how to switch it on but it didn’t help. There was a slight cigarette kinda smell which as a non-smoker I didn’t appreciate.

Overall a really good experience for a few nights stay.

The hotel was in a great position very close to Montjuic - easy uphill walk to the funicular. Staff very friendly. Quite noisy at night and no kettle for hot drinks which we had expected. There were plenty excellent options nearby for breakfast which we took advantage of rather than the hotel dining room. We thought that the tourist tax (over €18 for 2 people x 2 nights total) should have been more clearly stated at time of booking.

The room was small, tired-looking and with a strange, almost cabbage-like smell.
You could hear the goings on in other room through the drainage system in the bathroom, which was... interesting. I had to ensure the bathroom door was closed to ensure I was able to get as peaceful a sleep as possible.
Breakfast itself was fine in terms of the offerings, although if there are more than two people having breakfast at the same time, conditions are more like sardines, it's quite cramped.
However, the staff were extremely friendly and courteous in my limited dealings with them.
Location is good, close to the Paral-Lel Metro station, so getting around the city was a breeze.

The staff at the property were very helpful and kind. The location was spot on to walk everywhere or hop the metro/bus. It was in a safe and secure neighbourhood that I felt safe walking alone in the evening. The rooms were clean and had the basic amenities, you can get coffee and breakfast in the lobby. I would highly recommend this place for an convenient and inexpensive stay. I can’t say enough great things about the staff.

The single room is super small but you have a good price according to the other hotels in Barcelona during the high season. The room was clean and the bathroom is ok, but the size of the room itself super tiny.
The only one bad thing that disturb me was the noise of the other water coming from the shower you can hear it like in your room with really loud noise.

Tiny, tiny room!!

The Royal was extremely tiny. The only place to put my suitcase was behind the door. When I wanted to leave the room I had to close my suitcase and set it upright. I am a thin man, but the shower was too small to raise my arms to wash my hair without hitting my elbows on the walls. Couldn't even get my hands under the faucet in the sink. Had to just wash my fingers only.

Ok hotel near Montjuic

Clean, fairly modern hotel. Location close to Montjuic and not far from the sea, but 15+min walk to Rambla - however, 3min from a metro station.
The area has a lot of restaurants and is fairly lively, so feels touristy enough but hotel security is kept tight and you're pretty much buzzed in by the receptionist any time of day.
The room was rather small but covered the basics. The use of a room safe seems to come at an extra charge. The lift is so slow you can't feel it's moving.. We had two fire alarms before 7am on Sunday.
Overall this is clean and solid accommodation in reasonable location, but there were just too many details that didn't work as I would have liked, so I struggle to get enthusiastic about the property.

The room was smaller than expected.
No night stand lamp so when you turn off the main light you don’t have any sort of lights in the room.

Only got one town after every cleaning so had to ask for extra towels every day.

The location is easy to find and close to the inner city. My room was clean and had a balcony with sun-chairs (on the roof). I loved being able to catch the morning and evening sun. The bed was comfortable to sleep in.

We stayed in the hotel from June 16 to June 25. We are really liked the room, cleaning (when done by Nenita), breakfast, the surrounding area (but at night it's noisy from the street). The hotel is a 5-minute walk to any buses, a 30 minute walk to the Singing Fountain, and a 10-minute walk to the sea. The wifi, TV, air conditioner and fridge work well. Special appreciation to the people on reception (Gigi and Angel). They were very patient and very good at explaining how to get to places we needed, how much time it takes - always with answering any of our questions with smiles. We love them and wish them all the best. The other guy, Ful, is okay but he only did his work. His answer to any question is \"take a taxi,\" or \"go to eat at a restaurant.\" Maybe he doesn't realize that not every tourist is rich. Anyway, thank you for everything. We will recommend this hotel to our friends.

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. The room has everything a person needs in a very compact space. I really loved the design of the room. Other reviews have stated that you can hear other guests very easily and this is true. I could hear other guests snoring in their room and using the hair dryer. This is not something the hotel can fix but new guests should be aware. It was nice to come back to a private room after a long day seeing the city. There is a discount supermarket right around the corner which was great and the hotel is very close to Mount Montjuic Park and Castle, Las Ramblas, the Marina and the Metro.

Very friendly staff, and extremely helpful. I stayed here for 2 nights before a cruise and 1 night after. Both times I was early for check-in and they went out of their way to get me in a room as soon as possible! It’s within walking distance of the main port, and a main stop on the tour bus lines, so while it’s not in the middle of things, everything is easily accessible. I would definitely stay here again if I’m ever back in Barcelona.

Not the best part of Barcelona but conveniently placed. I was hardly there except for sleeping and breakfast. The latter was no more than adequate and somewhat limited with no hot food apart from toast.

Hotel was okay. I paid more for this hotel than I usually would but I don't feel as if it was worth paying extra for. Room was good, bathroom was fine and small balcony area was quite nice. Unfortunately the area itself isn't very nice, seemed like quite a rough area, the street that the hotel is on in particular. Essentially, if I'd have paid what I would usually pay for a hotel I'd have been fairly happy, but because I paid a bit more, I think that the room was overpriced.

Superb value for money

Needed a 2 room overnight stay in Barcelona, this hotel offered a very low price, took a chance and was very pleasantly surprised. Small rooms but absolutely fine, staff could not have been nicer, extremely helpful with all sorts of things, location excellent.

Only issue I had was that the room was too hot, so slept with window open, if only all my problems were as troublesome as this!!!

It's not a 5 star hotel, nor does it claim to be, but if you want comfort, cleanliness and security at a very reasonable price it's perfect. Very friendly staff with impeccable manners.

The staff was very helpful in navigating Barcelona. The room was clean and has a secure safe for items. Block and half from the Metro. A convenient location close to Quimet y Quimet (tapas), 10-15 min cab ride to the Montjuïc Castle, close to El Raval, and Gothic Barrio. 30 mins or less from the airport. Could use lights in the stairwell at night. Other than that, its a budget friendly hotel that stores your belongings while you enjoy the city.

The room furniture was old and smelly.
The TV was tiny, probably no bigger than 17\"
The shower was ridiculously small and the shower gel and shampoo were provided in small pouches and didn't get refilled/provided for the following days.
Breakfast buffet had incredible limited choice (1 type of slice bread, 1 type of cheese, 1 type of ham, some prepackaged pastries,....)
There was no isolation noise whatsoever in the room resulting in awfully loud nights.
Also if you want to use the gym facilities, you will need to bring your passport with you every time and keep it with you while exercising/working out.

I needed to stay in Central Barcelona for one night for a reasonable price. This hotel was a perfect choice. The single room was small but had all I needed. It is clean, bathroom is not huge but good, wifi was fast, the room was not noisy, air conditioning worked fine. I will definitely stay there again.

Perfect for the budget traveller

The hotel is conveniently located only a 2 min walk from Paral-lel train station, and less than a 10 minute walk to La Rumbla. The hotel staff were very welcoming and accommodating and helped me with any inquiries I had. The room was for single. The bed was comfortable and bathroom provided all amenities required. My room opened up towards the back of the street where it was quiet and drapes in the room provide total blackout (perfect for sleeping after jet lag!). Overall the hotel is simple and basic, but very clean and welcoming. I would recommend this for any single traveller on a budget.

Excellent location, round the corner from the metro and a ten minute walk from Las Ramblas. My single room was adequately sized and came with everything I expected. An added bonus was free access to the gym accross the road which has great facilities. On the negative side, I must say I was expecting far better breakfast options. There was very little on the menu other than overripe fruit and pastries. I was also charged an additional 10 euros for use of a safe. Finally they could do with sound proof walls as I could hear every footstep next door. Fortunately I didn't spend much time in my room so this wasn't a problem. Would recommend to someone on a budget that desires more privacy than a hostel.

The Price Was Right and I Got What I Asked For.

This was a small hotel about 2 blocks from a Metro Station ... a little off the beaten track. I asked for a twin bed and that's what I got. It was a very small room - but that's what I was paying for! I wanted to save my money for other things. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the staff were wonderful. I was very comfortable in my room and even though I checked out at noon, they held my luggage until 6pm so I could go check out the beach before I left. It was an excellent way to end my vacation in Barcelona.

Overall, it was a great stay.
A good w-fi and a nice gym, although the room was a bit small.
However, you can hear almost the smallest things that's happening at your neighboring rooms.

Shower barely drained. Staff said they would fix it but did nothing, so we could only shower for 30 seconds, soap up and then rinse off for 30 seconds. After 1-2 minutes continual use, the basin was completely full and would not drain for a long time. Room was on the small side with thin walls. Great location, but quality of hotel did not match the price we paid. Safe not included in hotel price. I will try to book somewhere else next time.

The Hotel Nuevo Triunfo was fairly easy to find from the Parel-lel metro station which is about 5 minutes away. There are a couple bars and clubs close by for those who want to party on there doorstep. There is a bus stop before the entrance of the metro which can be taken to the beach which is the easiest way to get there from the hotel other than just jumping in a cab. There is a nice little supermarket directly across from the hotel where I recommend picking up snacks and drinks for the beach or as you walk around and see the sights of Barcelona. Check in was quick but they asked to see the bank card which I made the purchase on which you need to be sure you bring with you. There is a small breakfast area which I didn't use by reception and machines where drinks can be purchased. There are two great PC with internet access which are free to use and available 24hrs. My room was a single on the 2nd floor with access by lift or stairs, I was given a key card for the room which also worked the air-con. The bed was firm with TV above which had a USB port so I could charge my mobile and there was a small fridge. There is a good safe that can be accessed at a charge. The bathroom had a nice shower but the bath was small. There sink was small with mirror above and hair dryer if need. There was no full length mirror in the room which could have gone on the back of the door but the window which opened had black out curtains so the room was nice and dark at night. I had a good stay!

Nice hotel, just a couple of tweeks

The location was excellent, right next to parl lel station off the metro line. The staff were great and spoke English which helped me since my Spanish is limited.
The room was pretty basic but the bed was comfortable.

The only real problems I had was my room was situated above a bar or restaurant. Late at night you could hear the flamingo dancing going on. The other issue was the bathroom. Just a strange layout and a micro shower and sink. You just barely fit into the shower you could basically turn on the water and that was it. Otherwise you bumped around against the wall to do anything like clean yourself. Also the shower didn't have any kind of shelf to put your toiletries on. The same with the sink. No place to put the soap, never mind a shaver. I could not use the sink properly without spilling water on the floor since it was so tiny. Plus it was stupid how they put the facet on the open edge instead of agaisnt the corner. So any extra space you might have had was wasted.

Over all the bathroom situation didn't detract much from my stay, just inconvenient. You really get what you pay for.

Nuevo Triunfo

This was one noisy hotel !
Paper thin walls and no working aircon or safe.
That said, on a shostring budget, it was clean, well situated & friendly.
After the first night I bought earplugs. After that... Perfect!
Great value, wicked location.
Would definately stay there again.
