Clean rooms but breakfast is something to desire

Honestly, there wasn’t another option for me or else I would not have stayed there. All the other hotels were booked. The bed was okay, but the bathroom was gross. Dirty walls, paint job over bad areas of walls. Hair on the floor. Dingy shower. The dust on things in the room was very noticeable. Looked like a renovation was done on the check in area but the rest of the place was really rundown and looking bad.

This hotel is old and run down. The minute i walked into the room, I started itching and was not able to stop until checkout. The room smells musty. I could not even sleep in bed because the linens were dirty and could not stop the itching. I had to sleep in a chair,with my beach towel as my blanket.The room had not been cleaned.There was a bandaid behind the chair, wrapper under the bed and food crumbs on the floor. The wall behind the chair was dented up. I had to clean the chair, which was full of dog hair. The tub had mold/mildew in it. The guy at the front desk told us no restaurants delivered in to the hotel and I found out later that was false.

We were not impressed with our stay. The room smelled musty and the AC was off when we arrived which didn’t help. There was hair and other dirt on the floor in many spots and the bathroom smelled of urine. We had never stayed at a Red Roof Inn before but needed a place to sleep on a road trip. We didn’t expect top notch quality but we’re hoping for a better baseline standard of cleanliness and were disappointed. It was late and we were leaving first thing in the morning so didn’t feel the need to complain or try to switch rooms, but will say that staff was friendly and professional upon check in and check out.

Chosen for the proximity to GOTL, walnut beach and grand river area. Also the jacuzzi tub in room and continental breakfast. The exterior grounds were disappointing along with the jacuzzi cracked tub bottom surface. Once the curtains were open we noticed the upper window frame has crumbled plaster and the outside area looked full of weeds where im guessing a swimming pool once was located.Parking lot is in need of attention. We did not use the ac unit in room but did look at the filters of the ac and was appalled by the amount of lint, dust and hair on them. I have severe allergies and this would have affected me greatly. Very disappointed with our stay. Building obviously is very old and not bringing in the revenue for normal upkeep and required maintenance. Staff were polite and breakfast was well done.

We checked in and checked out 15 minutes later. There were questionable stains on the pillows and the walls. My friend’s pillow had someone else’s hair on it. There was a stale smell in the room and the pillows smelled stale as well. The biggest thing was that the bathroom floor/around the toilet and in the tub all had a bunch of pubic hair. They checked our room and apologized and gave us a full refund.
