Frustrating Stay from Start to Finish

We had a disappointing experience at this hotel. The AC in our room was broken, which made our stay very uncomfortable. In addition, we had arranged for a car service to pick us up from the airport, but there was a problem with the service. I had to call to find out what was going on, and in the end, we had to find our own taxi to get to the hotel.

The dining manager was rude and unable to accommodate us for a dinner. The door card key was not working we had to go Back and forth to the reception desk. Ended up giving us the actual manual key. The toilet wont flush and broken.

Grounds were run down and unkempt.
Facilities were well used and grubby.
Restraunt waitress was rude and food was ok at best. Took a while for food with the limited menue and it was luke warm.
No kettle in our room or available, advised to purchase drinks at the bar.
Hotel is not in an area with easy access to shops, restaurants etc - therefore if you cant eat in the hotel at night your stuck.
Shower facilities were ok, although shower head didnt stay at the height set and the hairdyer was very old and barely worked.

Unfortunately I was unable to eat dinner there because there was a private function but breakfasts were good. The front desk staff were friendly and gave me a great alternative suggestion for dinner. It was very warm out, having the pool available would have been nice but it didn’t open until June.

Overall beautiful hotel and lovely staff. My room had everything I needed for the short stay. Bed was comfortable.

The one thing that was a little annoying was that there is a large gym on the ground level that seems to be open to the public and I could hear the machines and people very early in the morning even on the 3rd floor.

The entrance of the property has 2 sets of stairs one from out to the main door and another from inside to the check in lobby. Approximately 10 steps on each level . If you are bringing a larger bag or suite case only way for a person with limited ability to carry is getting help from someone . There is no one to help in the hotel you can find or expect . We went to eat dinner since no other restaurant near by . The waitress was rude to say you need to wait we are busy . But she never took time to come and get us . First day the good we order was wrong, however they change the order on request but end up paying for both dishes .

Pros: Hotel was nice, very clean, comfortable room and bed, good breakfast.

Cons: Hotel staff not very welcoming or overly friendly. All activities (swimming, exercise facilities) are an extra charge! I have never stayed at a hotel where I've had to pay extra for these amenities. There is a restaurant but it is not open for lunch and doesn't open for dinner until 7:30 pm. The outside grounds are in need of care. It could be beautiful, but the plants and shrubs are neglected, in need of trimming and watering. There is absolutely nothing nearby to do, not even a nice neighborhood to take a walk. It is very remote from all the tourist areas in Rome. It is a half-hour cab ride to the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain.

If you are just looking for a relaxing place to rest it would suit your needs. It is very quiet.

I personally would not stay here again.

It’s old and in need of a big renovation. Furniture in room were all sticky. The bathroom small and water stains everywhere. Bed and pillows were hard and towels stained. The walls are so thin that I could hear everything. You have to pay for the pool as it is not part of the Hotel. You also had to pay 10 Euro to use the gym. The breakfast was good but with 3 coffee machines only 1 was working. The surrounding area was pretty and you can walk to shops and restaurant. Lots of stairs you have to get your luggage up and down and there is nobody to help. I certainly will never use this hotel again.

Hotel is well appointed with good quality materials and furnishings, located out of town but only 10 minute walk from the bus stop that gets you to the Vatican City in approx 20 minutes. Unfortunately the staff are generally not welcoming or attentive (apart from the young lady in the restaurant at lunchtime on the 4th September). After our arrival we were informed that our room was not ready (no problem as we were early). My partner and I had to use the bathroom adjacent the restaurant, the ladies, gents and disabled were all disgusting, we immediately informed reception. Their response was nonchalant at best. As the bar inside the hotel is never staffed we had to use the pool bar (which can only be accessed if you upgrade which I had done) again no staff and used coffee cups over the bar area. Luckily for us the pool attendant served us with two soft drinks. On the evening of the 5 September we used the restaurant in the hotel, as their was a corporate party at the hotel we were ushered outside. The service was poor having to collect our own cutlery for the second course, the table next to us also had an issue with their service. The following morning we went to breakfast at 07:45 finding that virtually everything had been used up. Most tables had not been cleaned after use, not even cups, glasses, etc. When the orange was eventually refilled we had to use plastic cups as no clean glasses. Room, phone not working, AC not working properly, hotel iron not working, etc, etc...

Overall feeling of neglect. Had to cart our heavy suitcases up 2 flights of stairs to access reception. Furniture worn, and badly stained seating in restaurant. Self service breakfast dreadful, consisted of dried eggs, 2 sweet cereals, bread curled up, fatty bacon or sausage. No muesli, nuts, fruit, yogurt, or tomatoes. No decaf coffee and milk brown, possibly made up from evaporated - bought our own fruit and cereal to take in. Although sold as hotel with tennis courts, the courts were not available most of the time as we were told the tennis was run by a separate entity and their club members had priority. Even when courts were empty we were not allowed to use them on 2 occasions. No leaflets or info re Rome, tours or sightseeing in hotel. Check in staff and cleaners helpful. Room tatty but cleaning good. probably had recent new bathroom.

The staff were chilly, compared to all the other hotels we have stayed at in Italy. I suffered an injury and they were unable to come up with any ice at all to reduce the swelling. The internet was lousy. The bathroom flooded every time we showered. I wouldn't go back.

Really good buffet breakfast. Hotel has excellent tennis courts. (clay) Walking distance to a bus stop which can take you right into Rome for just E1.50. Overall good hotel. However a standard room does not have tea and coffee facilities. I found this rather odd and when I challenged this at reception his reaction was well a standard room doesn't have them and we are full so hard luck! Not impressed. Went to local supermarket and bought a small kettle :). Staff on reception not very friendly at all. The only member of staff who really spoke was the chamber made over our 5 days of holiday. Customer Service - they have a lot to learn. However we will probably return as the hotel is fairly good value for money and we now know the area.

It's alright, clean and hits the standard. I was not thrilled with the location or that the amenities are seasonal. The pool was not open or the Gym or the bar. The restaurant down in the hotel basement does not open until about 7:30PM. The food is good but pricey which was reasonable. Again, excellent staff.
The biggest issues was the location is not ideal (that's my fault for not paying more attention to the map) so you will need to take the bus or taxi, bus is really easy and a short walk to the hotel. You must buy your ticket at the tabbachi store first! The walls are super thin so you hear everything in the 100 plus room hotel. The shower head was great but the stand up shower itself was maybe 2 square foot. The TV in the room was basically the size of my laptop computer; not suppose to watch TV on vacation I know but it was actually laughable when we walked into the room. It was a decent hotel and maybe for a large group in the peak season it would be more fun to hang around the hotel pool or bar. For just two people I will be looking at something closer to the city.

Good hotel on the outskirts of the city centre.

Out of town location which we liked and on an easy to follow bus links into town. Great value on the bus so don't get a taxi but use one of the easy to follow apps on your smart phone.
We managed to easily get to and from the City and saw all the sights we wanted to see.
The hotel has clay tennis courts which we loved and it was easy to book them.
Only disappointment was the hotel restaurant. We booked a meal on the first night and were denied access by a very bolshy waitress who had no idea how to manage the hotel's guests. The hotels loss was our gain over meals as we discovered local restaurants in walking distance which were very good and where we dinned out every night.

Pleasantly surprised after reading reviews, we had a first floor room which was a reasonable size and well furnished, shower was tiny but ok for our short stay. The pool area was lovely and as we knew about charge(15 euro) we were happy to pay, we spent two days of our stay around the pool as weather was gorgeous. The breakfast was really nice plenty of choice, we also used the restaurant in the evening and food was of good quality and staff were really nice. We travelled into Rome for sightseeing bus stop was a short walk away and we were in central Rome in approx 25 mins, we would definitely return if travelling to Rome again.

Close to Gemelli hospital and the Catholic Univers

The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The gym is well resourced and supervised however you have to pay 10 euros per day to use it even if you are staying at the hotel. The hotel is approximately 7km from the centre of town but it is easy to get the bus to the Vatican; this costs 1.30 euros.
The rooms are relatively basic and fall short of 4 star. The breakfasts are good. I enjoyed the aperitivos in the small hotel bar in the evening.

This is a lovely hotel with a charming outdoor garden, bar and dining area, in a quiet area, near the collage. The big drawbacks were room was to warm and 15 euros per person per day, I have never been charged at any hotel for pool use, I did get a free pass for the pool as the room was to warm, and that was the 2ed problem, it was a vary warm room. M&T restaurant was vary nice, good food.

Staff were helpful (though advice was not always absolutely accurate. Restaurant was good for dinners and breakfasts. We did not use the pool as it cost 15 Euros. Bathroom was a little cramped but adequate. We got clean towels every day - not necessary. We felt cost was reasonable for Rome.

Good business hotel

I have business nearby and it is very good for that. The dinner menu is very nice and food very good. Particularly the wood oven pizzas. It is perfect at the end of a long day, dinner is right there. Towels, showers, room size all fine.

It is far from the center of town, there is no public transportation close, there is really very little, if anything to walk to. Not a tourist hotel IMOP. Also, the Internet is wireless and barely works in the rooms I have had there.

It would be a monorail step up if this hotel fixed the wireless Internet so it worked well in all the rooms, dinning rooms and terrace. It should also add a shuttle a few times a day to areas downtown. 25 to 40 Euros each way, depending on where n town you want to be and when, is too much to make it a tourist stay.

Good Value hotel close to the Olimpico Stadium

This is my 4th visit to the hotel. Hotel is clean and staff are very friendly. We choose this hotel due to it's vicinity to The Olympic Stadium (though you need a car). The only difference this time is the room size. We were given a very small room, and to go to the second bed you actually had to jump through the first bed. Usually we are given very big rooms!

Anyway for the price I paid it is surely recommended and will visit again soon!

PS not recommended if you want to visit the centre since it is very far, but very perfect to go to the Olimpico if you have a car, just 5 mins away down the road!

Very disappointing experience.

Arrived at the hotel. There wasn't any help to get up the 3 flights of stairs with all our luggage (No elevator and after the fact, we noticed a awkward/dangerous ramp on the side of the stairs). Upon entry to the room, it was not what was described online. There was mold in the very tiny shower. You could feel the springs in the mattresses which caused a difficult night sleep. When trying to communicate with the staff, it was difficult to communicate/resolve these issues with the staff secondary to the language barrier. Unfortunately, I didn't speak Italian, and they didn't speak English. We were scheduled to stay 4 nights, we checked out first thing the next morning and went to another hotel. Not a great location if you want to be in the middle of the tourist attractions either. Didn't get that impression when looking online.

A bit dated and a distance from the city centre

On arrival we asked to have the room changed because it was not comfortable, no chair. An extra 30 Euros a day. The TV was broken for two days, when it was fixed only one of the channels was in English. The air condition did not work properly, the room was too warm to sleep comfortably at night. Toilet flush on wall kept falling off the wall every time it was flushed. We asked to have an iron but was told that it was a health and safety issue. We were offered the laundry service which was 24hour notice at a cost. Breakfast was very disappointing. The bar was always closed, we had chosen the hotel for the pool facility but it was closed it was a summer pool. That was not made clear during the booking. We also had to pay an extra 48 Euros for room tax, which we had to pay in cash on departure. We had to pay for the taxi via credit card. Very disappointing experience.

A Pleasant Hotel

The hotel was very pleasant the staff were very friendly the room was clean. However it would have got a higher review if the WiFi was available in the room the hotel safe worked and it was in the 21st century by having the ability to recharge phones etc. a mains USB connection would be good. But overall the hotel delivered as advertised and I had a very nice vacation.

Miles away from everything

Being a tourist in Rome can be overwhelming, so being close to vacation spots would be a must. The taxi from this hotel to the Colosseum was 50 euros. We ending up leaving to find a hotel closer to all the shops and restaurants.

Not a 4 stars, apart from the staff!

We booked this hotel for a week end and were supposed to arrive on Friday evening. Due to flight issues we arrived on Saturday morning and were just looking forward to putting our feet up and relax.
The room which was first given to us was their “standard” room, as per booking. Let’s make things clear: this was a 2 stars standard, if so. No room to move around the bed, old chipped furniture, no cover on the duvet, dirty bathroom (mould on the silicon, and lime scale on the shower tap).
After a long discussion about the room standard, we managed to be “upgraded” to a newly refurbished room, which was a bit better. Bathroom has not been refurbished but at least was cleaner than the previous one.
Another problem is the insulation. It is so bad that you can hear everything, from next door’s TV to the cleaner in the morning.
Staff however was very nice, polite and helpful.
Location: there is a bus stop 5 minutes’ walk to the hotel which offers a good, cheap, 24/7 service. It takes 15mins to go to the Vatican and 30mins to central Rome. I have seen some complaints about hotel location and I don’t agree with them (of course if you are willing to pay twice the price you can stay at the Spanish Steps!)

Overall it served its purpose and we were satisfied enough. Once we realised that it was a converted school a lot of things fell into place. We had a car and knew we were well out of the city centre and so our trip went to plan. However, we weren't prepared for the smallness of the rooms and had to change rooms immediately as my shoulder's were too wide to fit in the shower cubicle (smallest shower I've ever seen!). Also the 1st room hadn't been cleaned since the previous guest left. The biggest disappointment was the fact that we had an evening departure, had to vacate our room by 11am but there was no provision to shower and change - I found that unacceptable. The breakfast was fairly basic but didn't suit my partner so we always ate out; you can find better, cheaper food nearby. That said we had a wonderful trip and enjoyed our stay, I only wish the room was a tad bigger. The free parking was a key factor in our stay and much valued, Rome is difficult for motorists. We asked for a double room but had to have two singles pushed together, it was tolerable but not ideal.

Difficult to find even with Google maps. Mosquitoes in the room. The chambermaid never on time. They charge 5 c. for hot water in the beverage-sending machine, but you of course never have change. The room is very small. Breakfast is disappointing: I do not eat cereals, for example. The other food is cholesterol-rich. Besides, if you arrive at a half hour before closing, you may find little to eat. They also charge too much for their fitness room and swimming pool. The television had to be fixed. No English-language programs.

Nice place to stay with a great breakfast included. Would recommend getting bus routes prior to going there as it was very confusing. Too far away to walk to the Vatican and other historic sites. Took a taxi most if the time and was disappointed that had to pay $60 euro from Rome airport to hotel.

It was ok, in the nice part of Rome.

Well we expected 4 stars as in English standards...it didn't have much, not even a mini bar, or a fridge. The hotel itself was clean but everything kept to bare minimum. It was in a lovely part of Rome, quite far from the centre but that is not a problem. The breakfast was ok, but the same every morning. The walls are too thin and we could hear pretty much everything in the rooms next door. I would recommend it, but I would also tell you to expect something around 2/3 stars and not 4 for sure.

This hotel is very far from city centre and they don't have a shuttle bus, long trip to reach city centre you have to take 3 different public transport include change metro in the middle of the trip , public transport sometimes its very crowded and the return trip to hotel is another pain and exhausting the body , the breakfast is Italian and no option for fruits or egg , the staff doesn't speaks English except reception , Wifi is very weak and not reaching
rooms and constantly goes off , the room temperature is hard to control it , the exist from the hotel to the mean road is about half kilometre and it not good if you are carry heavy luggage had to check out early due those points ,

Liked the Hotel and resturant but it was just a little too far from sights and the crowded bus trips back to the hotel in December would be much worse in the tourist season. WiFi was spotty and lost internet connection frequent.

Nice at first glance

The stay would have been more comfortable if they spent half as much on the actual rooms as they did on the lobby area. The rooms are dark and shabby with cramped bathrooms. The fitness area is nice, and the staff were very helpful. Wifi was spotty.

Useful location for the European Congress Centre.

Great hotel. Upgraded to a suite. Not very close to city centre for sightseeing but bus links were adequate. Very nice restaurant. Good gym facilities. Check in and out was very simple.

Same old breakfast- very basic!
£12 per head to use swimming pool that is ridiculous
This is supposed to be 4star hotel but with very basic breakfast and the other facilities will not fit them in to even 3star .
They advertised free wifi . But it never worked in side the room . You have to find
a lucky spot to get one bar of Wifi reception.
This hotel is quite far from the touristic spots although Expedia told me this hotel was very close to city centre I was extremely disappointed.This hotel had no entertainment for children -quite

It was a lovely hotel within a reasonable 1 hour nice walking distance to the Vatican. But for non walkers, it was well connected with several bus lines. The only complaining I'll do is about their VERY unreliable WiFi service and thin walls.

Clean but A/c didn't work & Wifi in room was bad.

I asked to move rooms because the room was hot and the A/c was not putting out cold air and they said it was working fine and didn't give me an option and the Wifi was terrible and when it did work was very very slow.

Nice hotel a little off the main Rome tourist attractions, we stayed in Rome to see a concert which was near by, then we left for Napoli . Overall a very nice hotel with a nice restaurant and workout area. Would definitely stay here again.

Very nice, big rooms, problems with A/C.

This is a great hotel with big rooms that are very nice. The only reason we didn't give it a 5 is because the air conditioning didn't work. We called the front desk and they came up immediately, but weren't able to fix it. We ended up opening all of the windows after several hours and eventually the room cooled down to a tolerable level, but still uncomfortable. The pool hours are also very short and the pool closes at 6:00 p.m.

Impossible to find - took us over an hour to find

The furniture and room decor was not up to the level of a four star hotel. Also, to have any hope of effectively using the shower, you had best be under 100 pounds. Be prepared to live the college dorm experience. Although the grounds were lovely and the staff were helpful, it was clearly not of four star quality. Besides being near impossible to find, even with the aid of multiple maps and a nav system, the wifi offered did not work.

Excellent location about 10 minutes from the city. The facility have a good restaurant if you do not have a car. Larger room for two people, nice bathroom, and they keep it very clean. I got a new room and the phones were not working yet. Free continental breakfast was very good. However the free wi-fi internet service was very limited and very slow. But in summary a great hotel for the Expedia's price in Rome.

Very peaceful and friendly hotel

The hotel was a converted monastery apparently. We were visiting friends so ate out most of the time but we did have breakfast, which was limited in choice, various cakes, tinned fruit, formed meat and processed cheese. We had the brunch one day which was delicious with a fantastic choice of foods. We also stayed in one evening and ate and I had the best mussels I have had in a long time. The weather was very hot but sadly there were no comfortable chairs to sit in by the pool, which was away from the constraints and confines of the hotel. That was a shame as the pool area was in surrounds which were green, open, less crowded and very inviting. The shower arrangement in our room was very odd. It was in the bath but was positioned in the centre of the bath and the shower screen didn't cover the shower at all so everything got flooded. This could so easily have been corrected, it was a bizzare situation indeed. If you were confined to your room, as I was with an elderly mother, there was little English TV. In fact when we first arrived there were no English stations on offer but when I asked this was corrected and I was tuned into news stations. I would have loved to have been able to watch something other than the news though. This is an International hotel and assuming not all guests are Italian with English being the 'lingua franca', to cater for other guests would have been nice. I would still recommend the hotel though even though it is out of the centre.

The cheapest rooms are no where near the quality you would expect of a 4 star hotel, they are more like 2 star. They are old and tired looking. If the shower was any smaller then you would not be able to get in. There is no fridge. I assume the premium rooms are much much better because the lobby and the hallways are very spacious, grand, clean and nicely furnished. The local neighbourhood is bland and very few people can speak English, to the point where some are obviously somehow offended that a tourist cannot pronounce sentences in their language clearly. Even the hotel staff suffer from a lack of English speaking skills, and they are either pretentious or unhappy in their jobs. The room cleanliness was reasonable.

Rome in November

The only thing i could mention in th enegative qas the buffet breakfast qas very poor, only 2 staff qho seemed tired and qorn out, and the cooked food qas more qhat i'd expect at a 1* or 2*.
That aside, the place itself looks qonderful, nice clean airy and pictureque, qould visit again.

The Hotel is comfortable and well run. The staff are professional , I wouldnt have a problem recommending this Hotel if it was in a more central location. the Nearest Public Transport is down the Dirt track that leads to the hotel and then follow the road to the right for 200metres.
for the nearest Bus stop. Then you have to find the nearest Tabacc to purchase you Metro and Bus ticket before boarding the bus. So if your used to having attractions near by this isnt the hotel to book. Also if you like to stay out and sample the night life, you might want to consider renting a Car and someone in your party to be driver for the night, thats if you can brave the average Italian driving in Rome. I liked this Hotel alot it met all my expectations for a 4 star hotel, just the location from the centre of rome is disappointing and the distance from public transport spoilt it alittle for me.

The staff were very helpful. The rooms are a little pricing for what you get but I was upgraded free of charge to a mini suite and was happy. Great fitness center on site and the property is out ofthecenter sow little quieter than being right in The center.

Crap shack. Wouldn't waste my money again.

Pool closed. Air conditioning not usable - switched off at mains as \"not summer\".
Shower so small you can't move in it.
Wifi access only worked in the hall, not in the room.
No fridge in room despite hotel descriptions.
Very far from a 4x star hotel as described.
Plenty of rooms free, but staff would not move us to a room with facilities promised.
Restaurant ridiculously overpriced. Staff not very helpful.
TV all in Italian. Movie channels didn't work. Lights blown in room so had to have them fixed as well as TV.

Our family wouldn't stay here again.

Nice hotel but not as easy to get to as advertised

The hotel itself was fine, the staff was helpful, courteous, and professional, and the restaurant was good. However, the hotel location is not what it's cracked up to be. It's not 300 meters from the Gemelli train station -- it's several miles. There are also no taxis at the train station, which isn't stated. The hotel is easy to get to by bus, which is great as long as you don't have any luggage. City buses are not designed for suitcases. I would recommend the hotel as long as you don't have any luggage that you need to get there.

Beautiful place to stay

We found this hotel on Expedia and booked it no knowing what we were getting. When we got to Rome and were walking to the hotel we were a little unsure...when we turned the corner and saw the hotel we were completly relieved! It is a beautiful hotel. We walked in and the gentleman at the front desk was incredibly helpful. We have never been to Rome, and don't speak Italian. He spoke great english and was able to answer all of our questions. He gave us a map, and explained to us how to get to all the local attractions. From the hotel it is about a 5 minute walk to the bus stop and from there you get on the bus and it is about a 10 minute ride to the metro stop where you can walk 2 block to the Vatican or hop on the metro and catch the Colosseum and all the other historic stops in the center of Rome. I plan to come back to Rome again and will definetly be staying here again! Everything was great!!

quiet, comfortable hotel

It was a very pleasant stay. Staff was very helpful, English knowledge excellent. Shower was a bit small, but room all in all very nice. A bit sad was, that the pool was only open till 7pm.
