The only real way to review this is to explain what this hotel is for. You will use this hotel to sleep only because it's literally the only thing it offers. No amenities, pool, entertainment or anything else.

As a place to sleep, the rooms are spacious, well kept and cleaned and some provide a balcony. The only problem is that the walls are paper thin, so you'll get real familiar with your neighbors real quick.

The hotel is clearly located in a residential area, surrounded by apartments and local businesses. It looks rough but we never encountered any issues with the locals. The location is advantageous due to it being closed to several city buses that you can use to efficiently move to the big attractions around Rome.

The staff was courteous when we encountered them but as I stated, since you don't get much outside a free breakfast with plenty of proteins ( getting an Egg in Italy is extremely hard.. ) we never really spoke to them nor them to us. English is widely used and recognized for the hotel.

Nothing grand about this hotel, very small and understaffed , they all looked like not pleased to work. Breakfast only some sweet and terrible looking egg and dried bacon
Should not be 4 star its an old motel

The hotel is very clean and the dining staff is wonderful. The property is about a mile and a half north of Vatican City so if you don’t mind a brisk walk, it isn’t too bad. The trip back though is all up hill. The breakfast was excellent, and the dinners were well prepared.

When reading reviews it said residential area..it definitely is, THAT!!! Nothing close by except a grocery store, and since the rooms do not have cooking facilities not really convenient.
Hotel does not have enough staff therefore not enough staff to support the restaurant. Rooms are not as clean as reviews mentioned.
Couldn't even swim in the pool it was so dirty, you would get a sliver in your foot around the pool decking.
Icing on the cake, our shower flooded the bathroom and into the room, and had no staff to clean it up or help. Therefore, we spent an hour mopping up water with towels. The crazy thing when we called for help and told them what happened we were told they are aware of the problem... absolutely crazy.
The hotel is way over price for the location, renovations that have been done are very poorly done.
So be warned.

Illaria was a great when we checked in but it went downhill from there
the only restaurant opened at 6:30. WE arrived a little late for our reservation and even though the restaurant was mostly empty we were refused service
The price did not reflect the value of the hotel

The air conditioning did not work. When I mentioned this to the front desk staff, they said that because it was a \"public\" building, it has to shut off for a period of time overnight. Even if this was true, it did not work the rest of the time. This was not acceptable. Serice was poor and indifferent.

Grounds were nice and staff was helpful. WiFi was strong. Quiet residential neighborhood, about 30 minutes from airport with no traffic. For a 4-star hotel, I would expect better toiletries (e.g., at least conditioner) and a coffee maker rather than instant coffee.

We would stay again if in the area, however we were not in town for sightseeing, so not sure how close to attractions that people may want to visit.

Staff was great but it’s a HIKE to the nearest Metro. Restaurant is fantastic! The pool is SMALL and the chairs around it leave like 6 inches to walk and the pool, while super refreshing the ladder to get out is a death trap and you will break your shins by slipping. Still hurts two weeks later! It really seemed on the map like this was close to the action. Nope! But still, nice room, great staff and breakfast is really good. Probably best if you have a car!

The staff, the breakfast and property are excellent. The neighbourhood is not the best. It is a very crowded neighborhood and could be noisy at night. The metro is a good 10 minutes away and it is on top of a steep hill; it is inconvenient especially with kids.

The aircon would only go down to 21C. I would have preferred a bit more control to drop the temp lower, but it was okay. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Nice hotel overall. Stayed in July temperatures soaring, the A/C was next to nothing, unbearable in the room. Hotel doesn’t allow unit to go below 21c but it was never 21c when A/C was on. The website advertises a business center and computer station they do not have this. This was detrimental as I had work to do and picked his hotel because of that feature. Dinner was excellent in the restaurant. Reception staff were very nice and helpful.

Lovely hotel and truly 4-star quality. It was the final hotels.com stay of our 25 day trip and the Grand Tiberio was as advertised. That was not our experience everywhere in Italy. Some noteworthy considerations: Tram service 15 mins away at bottom of one long hill. Breakfast -hot and cold- was included and amazing. We had a king suite with a balcony. A/C worked really well and was essential to cool off after sightseeing in Rome’s +30C humid temperatures.

The people in the front desk are not friendly. We checked in and weren’t given any information about the hotel or surrounding areas. We had to ask about WiFi, a map, and where the pool and breakfast area were. Usually all that info is given when you check in. The beds were uncomfortable. The room was pretty warm eventhough the ac was on.

The staff at this hotel are fantastic: lots of people speak English, and they're always happy to help with taxis and advice about trips and travel around Rome.

The hotel itself has a bit of an ageing interior. The aircon in my room didn't really work (though it was 36 degrees C outside) so it was pretty uncomfortable. The lobby and restaurant are beautiful, but the food is the worst I've ever had to pay for: think microwaved lasagne served slightly cold and tuna salad out of a can.

The area is a little rough -- it's fine if you're on a business trip and you know your way around Rome/the subway system, but if you're on holiday, don't stay in this part of the city. East of the Tiber is much better for seeing the best of Rome!

Still chilly in April but the hotel does not have heater. The bathroom floor is tile and really slippery when wet. The night staff we met the first night is a little rude. Breakfast is good with a variety of options. Rooms are cleaned every day. One day I left my necklace on the table and it was still there after we returned.

The hotel rooms were clean but very basic and in need of updating/maintenance. Our shower and sink did not drain properly and the shower leaked into the bathroom. The room was very hot and stuffy but we could not keep the window open due to excessive noise. Breakfast was decent with a good selection however, we would recommmend avoiding dinner there like the plague. Won't bore you with the details but after waiting over 50 minutes for our main course, we cancelled our order as it was late and our friends had finished their meals. The \"manager\" was rude, argumentative and extremely immature, totally lacking customer service skills. The hotel reception handled the situation well but I would recommend walking five minutes down the road to Ristorante Caselli Rosticceria where we had a nice authentic meal without being abused by some arrogant young man pretending to be a manager. The location of this hotel was not the best for convenience to the main attractions, its a good 40 min walknor 15 minute Uber ride, and the closest train station is 15mins away.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Grand Hotel Tiberio in Rome, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, Umberto at the front desk warmly welcomed us with his positive attitude and helpful nature. He took the time to offer personalized recommendations on dining and sightseeing with a map, ensuring we made the most out of our Roman adventure.

The maid service maintained our room impeccably, and the breakfast spread set the perfect tone for each day with a wide variety of delectable options. Special mention goes to Dominic, who, with his kind demeanor, made our dining experience even more enjoyable.

The hotel’s recommended car service made transportation to and from the airport seamless and stress-free. While not located in the heart of Rome, the hotel's proximity to Vatican City is walkable and its serenely quiet nights, even with patio doors open, created a perfect retreat after a day of exploring the city.

My only minor criticism is the lack of early morning coffee, as it wasn’t available before 7 AM. Though there was a vending machine in the lobby, it was unfortunately out of order during our stay, and the nighttime staff wasn't as helpful as their daytime counterparts.

Overall, I highly recommend staying at this beautiful hotel. I hope you have the pleasure of meeting Umberto when you check in; his warmth undoubtedly enhances the experience. We will be back!

The hotel was nice and clean, the front desk staff were very polite and very helpful during our stay. The only complaint I have is that the location of the hotel is far from most attractions, the main train station and we had to use uber or taxi our entire stay for us to leave the hotel and getting back. The breakfast was not the greatest but we managed. The room was specious and the house cleaning cleaned our room every day.
