Staff is really helpful. I didn't have a chinese number to order food delivery. The hotel staff volumteer to use his number instead.
I send a few online packages to the hotel and the hotel the package is well stored.
Hotel surrounding is amazing.

Buffet breakfast was satisfactory. Very attentive housekeeping, water bottles replenished adequately, rooms were modern, spacious and clean.

Excellent hotel, nice large rooms, with probably the largest bed I have ever slept in. Huge buffet breakfast and evening meals. If you want a seafood extravaganza, this is the place for you. The hardest part is choosing what to eat. All for a very reasonable price, so much choice.
Beer and soft drinks included.
The only negative for me was that I was unable to find a gin and tonic at the hotel.
Taxis are surprisingly cheap. 70 minute rides for only 200 yuan. Recommend visiting the waterfront for the light shows in the evening. And a 10 yuan taxi ride to Fifty-Two Bar. Excellent views and atmosphere.

My family had a lovely stay in Shangri La Qingdao. Everything was perfect, from location next to May Fourth Square station and a mega shopping mall MixC, very clean room to excellent customer service (special mention to York who helped us with check-in and Mr Yan who cleaned our room). I would certainly stay here again in my next visit to Qingdao.

Very nice room in the Valley Wing. The buffet breakfast is included daily (covering two persons per room). The restaurant at lobby level offers amazing choices with a high cooking and serving food stations, serving Chinese breakfast, pastry, Korean and Japanese food (for breakfast). The staff members are all polite and professional. For the daily all inclusive room rate of about RMB 2000 per night, it is a good deal.

This was a perfect hotel, except I needed to use wifi VPN. The wifi was weak and I needed to use the lobby but even so for some reason, the VPN would cut out frequently, like after five minutes, and could only be restored by switching countries. It ruined everything as it would still require a long time to reconnect. Maybe this is a government policy to deter Chinese from accessing foreign material, but I think I should have been exempted :)

Very busy hotel. A good hotel with five star amenities. My favorite hotel in Chau that serves foreigners farewell. Great service and easy transportation however, the location could have a traffic and take times to get out of hotel cross the street is a nice beautiful square with great view Beside the hotel has a large mall with the all high end products

We had such a wonderful stay in this hotel even before we arrived, the director Jim Zhang from Concierge department had been helping us to arrange the pick up and drop off from and to the railway stations and also the three-day tours. All the staffs were very helpful and very good restaurants. We tried all three of them. The breakfast buffet was amazing and food from the other two restaurants were delicious and fabulous. The afternoon tea was very fresh in the comfortable lobby setting. We will come back next time when we travel around Qingdao.

Right in the middle of the city center and next to a huge shopping mall with wide variety of restaurants and shops. High end restaurants as well as low cost food stalls are all in the same area where locals are also getting their daily meals here. It is also right next to the #2 and #3 metro lines, which makes going around town is more than convenient. Although the hotel is a little old (built in 1997 and 2008), all the facilities have been modernized. The staff provides the best possible services; the executive lounge has wider selection of foods and drinks compared to other 5-star hotels in this area. It even offers live music on Sundays in the executive lounge when everyone is enjoying their evening happy hours. The executive lounge manager, Mr. Goto, speaks perfect Chinese, Japanese and English, and leads his team by modeling how services should be done.
Highly recommended!

We had a great stay...everything up to the standard you'd expect from a Shangri-La property. The staff were very helpful and really went out of their way to get us settled in. The hotel is right by the May 4th Square metro station, so easy access to the city as well as Qingdao Railway Station. The MixC shopping mall is across the street so very convenient as well. The breakfast buffet was excellent, full range of Western and Chinese dishes.

Moved to this hotel after staying in a much worse hotel just down the street. I was so very pleased to be welcomed into a far more comfortable room. Hotel was clean, nice restraint, very close to a huge shopping mall with good food. It wasn’t the most up to date room but it was very comfortable. I will day one thing that may be strange. The toilets were unusually small. I’ll leave the rest to the imagination

Breakfast had wide range of selection, but room of improvement for some food's quality.
I lived on non-smoking floor, on the last day of my stay, started from 7pm to 4am, my room was full of cigarette smell, and I couldn't sleep well that night. There was no smell from the corridor and the smell was coming out from the air-conditioning. Didn't know if this was ventilation problem or someone smoke on my floor.
I complained to the reception desk and they apologised sincerely and gave me a little gift.

Booked 2 rooms for 3 nights and checked in late around almost 5pm but the rooms are not ready thus was given one free upgrade while waiting for the 2nd room to be ready. Room cleaning service is terrible! You need to call them daily to come clean your room and one of the room at level 6, toliet rolls are not even replace when it's finished and thrash are not empty. It's a 5 star hotel in furnishing but service quality is even lower than a 4 stars standard in other smaller china cities.

Don't expect much...china five star standard is equivalent to 3 star standard here in USA. Everything was average...nothing is wow wow. But also reflected in the price of the room. You get what you pay for. Location is excellent, food is average, service is average.

Outstanding breakfast buffet but outdated hotel

- awesome breakfast buffet at cafe Yum - the best I have had in China, many congratulations to the cafe manager
- overall very friendly hotel staff with positive attitude, eager to help
- filthy lobby-level carpet
- broken room window latch, does not compress gasket, lot of street noise coming in
- room service erratic, some days only one towel given
- lot of allergens in the room (mites in carpet?), we both started sneezing the day we arrived
- abysmally poor internet connection, sending gmail only works 10% of the time
- worst restaurant experience I have had in China at their \"signature restaurant\" Shang Palace. Food the quality of Panda Express, at 10x the price. We had to eat in a room with left overs from earlier guests on three other tables, never cleaned up while we were there, expensive white wine arrived warm at the table, my soup arrived at the same time as my wife dessert, after the main dish, and my wife got some digestive disorder the next night. Stay clear! total mismanagement.
- overall hotel experience only worth at a discounted rate

We were plesantly surprised with a complementary upgrade to a suite upon arrival. All the staff, including the chamber maids and concierge are very friendly.
There is a huge shopping mall right at the corner.

Very nice hotel in the more modern center, walking distance to May Fourth Square and sailing center. Attentive staff, clean modern room though it was quite warm (hotel staff will unlock your window on request). Lobby lounge drinks are quite expensive, but there's a convenience store hiding on the 2nd floor across the street in the building with the Starbucks. Metro stop is right outside, easy access to the old town and Qingdao Main train station.

Note the taxis at the hotel taxi stand are black cars, higher flag fall fee than the regular city taxis you can catch hanging out on the street at the end of their driveway.

Food poisoning- something really did not expect.

It is a great hotel and it is not the first time me and dozens of my friends stay there every year or even more often. In general I would rate this hotel as excellent, but this time will give a bit lower overall rating, as I believe it is not fair to downgrade it more just because of someone not doing a proper job, when the rest of this huge operation is preforming 100% well.
It was really unexpected to get food poisoning at the hotel restaurant Flying Catch. I was more lucky to have it at the level I could still keep on my feet, but the traveling back to Europe was not very easy. My business partner got worse than me ending up with the fever.
The only advise is pay more attention. I prefer cold coffee, bad service over this.
But all other services did not fail.
Strongly advice the hotel SPA!

In general I have always enjoyed and prefer staying in your Shangri-La Hotel, every time that I visit Qingdao. The service and experience had been great before and it is very good now.
The only issue that I have was that on the first stay on this trip I was offered an upgrade to a better \"non-smoking\" room which i was happy about but this was the second time (the same thing happend last year) that unfortunately the non-smoking room smelled like cigaret which it is completely dissappointing for a person like me that has never smoked in my life.
The secon issue is that there are now several brand new modern hotels in the same area but your hotel nightly price rates continue to be high. I actually tried a new hotel for one of the nights and it was wonderful to be in such a new hottel.. Before I would always and immediately chose Shangri-La hotel but this time it actually took me a long time to decide to keep on staying in your hotel. Maybe the next time I will also stay in Shangri-La but if the nightly rates continue to be kept high, I may have to start choosing other options
