I had a wonderful stay at Antea Palace Hotel & Spa, Istanbul. The hotel’s staff were consistently friendly, warm and extremely helpful throughout our 6-night stay.

A special shout-out to Mdm Semra from housekeeping. She went above and beyond every single day. Not only did she ensure our 3 rooms were always clean and well-maintained but she also surprised us with beautiful towel decorations to welcome us and wish us a pleasant stay. Her kindness and attention to detail truly made our experience extra special.
Güven kaya is a very professional bell boy and deserves good credit.

Overall an ok experience.. no bad words about the staff, who try their best to welcome you and meet ones needs.

The hotel is bit dated or one can call it traditional in its decor etc.. it may appeal to different people.

Television is poor with only Turkish channels.

Spa is at another location but they pick/drop you off, but a nice experience at the spa.

Location wise, if you want to build your leg muscles then this is the hotel for you, as walking to the main square etc takes some up hill walking.

Overall a 6/10 maybe a 7 due to the staff.

Staff was super nice and hospitable. They went above and beyond for us to make sure we had a great experience. We had issues with the rooms, one ac was broken, the second was super small with broken shower head. They kindly transferred us into a 3 room. Also let us have breakfast earlier since we had an early flight. Hotel is pretty, breakfast was a plus.
Location is great. A lot to see nearby, lots of shops and restaurants. We even walked to galata tower☺️

The hotel has a small pool with sauna facilities and a roof terrace and a beautiful covered garden area off of reception. The staff are always smiling and any issues were sorted straight away. The breakfast is simple and fresh with everything you need and there are some extras at €3 I thought that was responsible. When I go back to Istanbul I will stay here it has two parks front and back, where there’s a large supermarket and beautiful garden cafe.

Elegant old vintage hotel with nice Hamam.

Old hotel on a quiet street close to the water with an elegant vintage feel and velvet couches. The Hamam and sauna was a highlight for us; small but nice.The staff was friendly and helpful. 15 minute walk to the Sultanahmet tram. Overall would recommend for the price we paid in off season March.

The hotel gave us a warm welcome, and every interaction with staff was positive. The decor has been left with a bit of repair needing; the carpet on the stairs is frayed, the wallpaper in the room is peeling.

There is no bar and it looks like if you want room service it’s provided by an external company with a small range.

The only issue I had was that torturing breakfast music, the same 5-6 songs keep repeating for 3 hours, day after day...Oh my God and we stayed there for 2 weeks.
We'll definitely go back, but for god sake play some nice turkish music, instead of Miley Cyrus and \"California Dreaming \"...

Old hotel with old photos!

The rooms in the photos are of the best rooms they have. Double / twin rooms are VERY small. Most rooms were refurbished with cheap materials: the bed boards you see in photos exists in half the rooms, the once wooden floor are now made of paper. Also, both saunas were not working.
And, the receptionist lied there were no more rooms available to show when the hotels site was showing 8.

The Hotel staffs were great and helpful but nothing works at the hotel, rooms were extra small with no working air conditioning, the SPA and gym were close. The power was out every day and no water to shower or use the bathroom at times. Hotel need major repairs and it was a complete disaster.

Wonderful hotel in a great location. 10 mins walk from Blue Mosque and in the opposite direction 10 mins from Kumkapi district and its abundance of restaurants. Plenty of restaurants nearby as well.

Good sized room and clean - recommend the Marmara Suite. Excellent view over the Marmara Sea. Water, tea and coffee replenished daily. Air con worked well. Bed very comfy, had a good nights sleep.

Pool was on the small side, but all I needed after a day playing tourist, along with steam room and sauna.

Staff very friendly and efficient. Well organised hotel. On the day I was checking out my suitcase failed, hotel staff helped me try to fix it and after having quickly got a new suitcase make sure I was ready for the lift to the airport. Booked a day trip through the hotel, no issues.

Breakfast was plentiful, ample choice. The usual continental options and some Türkiye specific (which changed daily). Some hot options that also changed. A lot of the booking sites (including hotels.com) advertised the hotel as having a bar and restaurant, it does not. However the hotel are OK with you bringing in Beer and takeaway food brought locally and consumed on the rooftop terrace or garden. They also have a room service arrangement with a local restaurant - didn't use this. The Terrace had excellent views over the Marmara Sea and up towards the Blue Mosque.

Walked everywhere, there's a steep hill up to the Grand Bizaar and then down the other side towards the Spice Bizarre

Absoloutely wonderful hotel. The hotel is in a prime spot to walk to major attractions and also beautiful parks, shops and restaurants. This was our second stay in 10 days, the latter being due to missed flight connection. We did not hesitate in returning to the hotel and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Special thanks to Fatih, Yunus and Yusuf who helped us immensely to get comfortable before returning home. Highly recommended and I'm sure we'll return again.

This was our second stay at this hotel the first was about 8 years ago. We chose it again because of the location, easy walking distance to all the sites in the old city and the restaurants. The hotel is a lovely place and they have a great small indoor pool, hammam and sauna, great for relaxing after a day of walking the old city visiting the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Grand Bazaar and the Basilica Cistern and more. The staff are great and very helpful and always ready to assist, great people the Turkish. We highly recommend the Antea Palace Hotel & Spa.

The location was very good. Walking distance from all the main attractions. The staff were all very pleasant.The hotel needs a upgrade. The rooms are small. The facilities are all very old and not in good working condition. TV in the room was not working, regardless of how many time we asked for it to be fixed. It was very old stuck on and the screen was jumping continuously. the bathroom was very dated,and everything seemed to be patched up. This is not a 4 star hotel. Not good value for money considering it is advertised as 4 star I would say it is more 3 star.

Reception people could be better and focus on their job rather than trying to sell you a package. Their focus of to sell rather than getting us checked into the room. Try Sura Design as an alternate option

Faded Turkish grandeur!

Pros:
location was excellent unless you have a mobility problem. For us it was great. So close to the Hippodrome and the fantastic mosques, museums etc. It is at the bottom of a pretty steep hill so if mobility is an issue, this hotel is not for you.
Staff were helpful and knowledgeable.
Shower had constant hot water, hair dryer was great. Clean towels and toiletries.
Beds were comfortable and pristine white sheets.
My single room had a double bed and enough storage but was very small!
Drinks were inexpensive.
Breakfast was plentiful and typical Turkish fare.
Free WiFi that was very effective.
Cons:
Some of the furniture was very badly stained. Unpleasant. When it was pointed out, the chair was moved to another table.
The carpet on the stairs was a bit wobbly on some of the steps.
Showers were clean enough but could do with having the sealant being replaced as it was pretty unpleasant.
Some staff training for the housekeeping staff would not go amiss. There was no consistency in terms of towels being replaced or the minibar being refilled.
All in all we had a very pleasant stay but the hotel would benefit from some investment!

Hotel has lovely staff who were extremely helpful. Rooms were a bit dated but clean and in good condition. Breakfast pretty good, lots of variety. Good wifi. Would stay here again. However the lift is small and the centre of Istanbul is a 15-20 minute walk uphill with iffy pavements so I'm not sure it would be a good choice for someone with mobility issues. Fine for anyone else though

A little bit disappointed it was a surprise for my boyfriends birthday and was not too pleased with the room.
I had emailed the hotel before hand and they said they would provide a complimentary fruit basket and it would there on arrival. We turned and I had to ask for this, the receptionist said I would to speak to a different receptionist tomorrow. This did not make me happy and I explained he should the pass the message on as they offered for it to be there on arrival. I then emailed the person talking to the next day to explain the fruit basket had not arrived, this colleague emailed me stating apologies. This was embarrassing as I had to mention it in front of my boyfriend and it was meant to be a surprise.
Also the room was right under the air conditioning unit so we had a disturbed sleep.
There was a leak in the shower it made the whole floor wet, we informed the cleaner and he just mopped it up. When we next had a shower we called reception and they only bought up one towel and did not seem to want to listen to the issue in the room, so we were not pleased the floor kept flooding.
Also opposite the toilet there were disgusting marks on the tiles, we asked the clean to wipe the wall and they came off. We were unsure how long the marks had been there for and what they were (faecal matter) and we did not feel comfortable that the bathroom had not been wiped for some time.
The bathroom and shower has marks (please see pictures below). Please receive compensation.

Fortunately, I knew the neighborhood. First time visitors might be unhappy with the location. The hotel photos are a bit more elegant than the actuality.

Everything about this property is absolutely disgusting. Dirty stained carpet everywhere. Breakfast looked uncooked and tasted horrendous. and filthy table cloths and chairs. The rooms are so bad, the beds don’t have proper blankets, when we asked for a blanket they gave us an old ugly blanket that was thin and felt like a towel. Beds were uncomfortable, to much velvet everywhere, the whole hotel smells really bad, has a horrible lingering stench, that didn’t go away the whole time we were there. And to top it off the staff and service was atrocious, they booked a tour and than told us it was cancelled 5 min before( so we basically got up extra early and got ready for nothing ) showed no sympathy for it either. They were not nice or helpful. It is Definently not a 4 star hotel. It seems like a 2 star. Every picture on line is misleading. Worst area to be in in Istanbul. Stray animals everywhere and the streets are loud and not clean. Never ever stay at this hotel. It is the worst place I’ve ever stayed at.

The location would have been great were it not next to a block of flats occupied by the
Locals who didn't sleep till very late.
The hotel is the Turkish equivalent of English Travel lodge.
The room smelt of cigarettes so I asked for another and they could only give me a double instead of a twin room which was inappropriate and we had no choice but to put up with it.
The swimming pool is just a plunge pool, it is very small.
Most of the staff were very nice and breakfast was good.

The location is amazing with sultanhamet square just ten minutes walk away but the rooms are small and in need of a lick of paint. Service was variable with the price of a beer in the bar varying from 15-20 lira for a very small glass of efes.

Breakfast was ok but nothing very special.

The pool is very small but was a god send with hot kids. Steam room and sauna weren’t always switched on and staff weren’t able/ willing to help.

We booked this hotel purely because of having lift as I had my elderly mum with me with arthritis and also because it was located nearly near blue mosque, grand bazaar and few other nice places to visit.
The good: Hotel staff were friendly, breakfast was average, central to Istanbul's attractions

The Bad: Room was not clean and under bed was very dirty, Lift was out of order for 2 days and after so much effort and talk to staff and even General Manager got fixed with no compensation to guest, further more shower was broken as well as safe and TV also broking frequently and had to get staff keep coming to fix it.

Best aspect: walking distance to old-city Istanbul (Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, grand bizarre, right next to the \"Little Hagia Sophia\"). Reception staff all spoke English is a big plus -maybe too eager to get us to join a tour but they weren't really pushy (we didn't join any). We did take their advice for a restaurant that would pick us up... it was bad traffic time and the food was better and more affordable with all the great small restaurants around. Picked this hotel as one of the few in the area with an indoor pool... clean and has its own Turkish bath area which was fun, but very tiny pool (maybe 10x15ft) and water temperature a bit cold. So don't let the pool be the deciding factor. Rooms were just what they appeared in the pictures. Clean. Good breakfast. Overall good experience.

I would say stay was very good but only because of one of lady manager spoilt my mood and trip. I asked her some info about massage that they should clear to costumers wether its in Lire or Pound she said let me check ur details she opened my account and told me then she tried to very Rude with me and while talking ahe went to talk to an other colleaque and she said dont take stress u r on ur holidays u should enjoy. To be honest her attitude spoil my mood for atleast till next day and when ever i see her face she were angry i dont know what she see in my account . Any way the rest of the stay was Good. Tv channels need update mean more english channels .

Three nights in the suite

My family and I spent three nights there Jan 2018. Overall experience was good. The large windows and view of the sea was great. The staff was very friendly and spoke good English. I also heard them speaking French, Arabic, and Russian. I didn’t see the spa so I can’t comment on it. They don’t have a restaurant or laundry in the building. They send the laundry out somewhere and have items from the restaurant menu delivered from somewhere else. The breakfast was fresh but typical for a hotel in Istanbul. The drain for the bath tub was broken and the bath robss provided were old and worn. Some of the furniture appears to have been cheaply repaired.

Reception is bad. Procedures takes long time. Rooms are small. The boy in the front door, name is \"Firat\" very helpful and kind.

Only good thing is location and customer service.

There are numerous private hotel options when you are planning to stay close to the historic sights within Sultanahmet. I booked best western only because of its brand name and was expecting it to be superior to other private brand name hotels.
I will list the good and bad things one by one.

The good:
Excellent customer service. Staff was super friendly and ready to help. That's the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1.
The breakfast was very good with a wide selection to choose from.

The bad:
I booked a suite room but was disappointed. It seemed like they used a little extra space to put in an extra couch and called it a suite. There was no separate seating space with a table in front. If me and my wife were up eat dinner inside, best place to do so was on the bed which was very inconvenient.
The bathroom was tiniest one I have ever seen in a suite and the shower hose was leaking. When we took shower, the tub leaked to create a puddle of water outside.
There were rips in the wallpaper at multiple locations. I have added some pictures.
Now comes the worst part. Their air conditioning was shut off and under repair throughout the hotel. When asked they would advise you to open windows. The last day of our stay was hot even with windows opened. We were provided with a fan but It wasn't the ideal solution.

In summary we would have wanted a much better experience from best western brand.

Nice Hotel, close to all attractions, great views

This hotel had everything we needed as a family, walking distance to all attractions, spa was great, swimming pool is good for family not very big but kids loved it used everyday. Breakfast was more than generous so many choices that each day we tried new stuff and still couldn't try all. Hotel staff was very helpful in guiding us, also very polite. Rooms were kept clean and free water bottle was a bonus :) Free tea coffee in the room. Highly recommended.

Terrible slum

This is an utter stay away hotel. The lobby looked nice and all but as soon as I entered the room the horror began. The bathroom door handle was broken off. There was a creepy water running noise coming from the bathroom at all time. The walls had paper peeled off here and there. The towels were ragged - by ragged and ripped. It was a perfect place to shoot a horror movie maybe. I went to the receptionist asked for my room to be changed. And all I heard was that we are \"fully booked\" but they are going to send a \"technician\" and fix the issues. Imagine after a long trip you share a room with a technician. Window overlook was terrible as well. I believe those who rated this hotel any higher than terrible have not been to any decent hotel in their lifetime. I walked out and called expedia and had to wait and wait and wait and gave up... went and found another hotel without being yet refunded or anything.

Perfect

The hotel is only a short walk from sultanhamet square . it has a small indoor pool sauna and steam room . The woman in charge down in that area was very unwelcoming , rude and grumpy all the time . Breakfast was provided with good selection. Oguz was probably the nicest staff in that hotel with very good customer service (5* for you and you will go far in your life ) . I will definitely use this hotel again it has everything I want except for the rude lady by the pool .

old and tired hotel

Tired looking interior, could do with an update. Shower was too small any larger person would have difficulty, our room had chipped class toothbrush holder and cracked sink. Decor is old . On a positive breakfast was nice and staff were really helpful !

The best thing about the Hotel is that for my taste it's in a good location, fairly safe and clean area if you are not a fusy person.

But still, for the relation of quality and price, it would have been perfect if it was not because most of the Staff are lazy, I sent them an email and a message on FB asking them to ensure a quite and not smoking Room about 1 week before landing, they didn't border to answer and for my surprise when I got in the Room at almost 1 AM most of the things TV, Safe deposit box were not working, the Pillows was smelling heavily as cigarette, on Expedia this Hotel was showing as a 4 star and the picture was looking nice, hence I choose it over others.

I was hungry asked for a Sandwich from the Menu, I got a warm bread but with cold sausage and without the potatoes that were advertised on the menu, I had to ask for it, the plate was wet and the salad was suspicious in the end, to fix all of these it took them more than an hour but the safe was only fixed the next day.

My so-called quiet room was in front of a School Football field, quite only during the weekend and on school day until about 8:40 Am. I was shown two other rooms on the opposite side but there were not looking that better.

The roof that was supposed to be available to seat during the evening and enjoy the view is heavily dirty and falling apart and it seems it has been this way for a while and the Smokers smoke right in the door without closing it.

Nice hotel close to the city center and historical

Good experience with wonderful staying in the hotel which are close to the city center and the important palaces and mosques and the transportation means which add a lot enjoyment to my trip to Istanbul
