Convenient to so many shopping and dining possibilities. Just a block or two from the historic Hippodrome of Constantinople AND the 'small' Hagia Sophia mosque. Very friendly and accomodating staff; always handled questions and requests promptly and courteously. Three minor issues: 1.) We could not turn off either the heated towel rack in the bathroom nor the floor heat in the entranceway. 2.) No washcloths/facecloths provided (could not find any in local shops, so maybe they don't exist in Turkey?). 3.) Water bottles sometimes replaced by housekeeping, sometimes not. Same with Shower Gel empty containers. Still... we would absolutely stay here again without hesitation. High value for money.

Genuine Service, Great Location, Good Breakfast

We were debating between this hotel and another, but I am SO happy we chose Sokulla Pasa. The location is a quick walk (a little hilly but great for some pre-sightseeing exercise) to Obelisk of Theodosius, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Basilisca Cistern, and much more in the area. It is just on the outskirts of the busy area, so you can expect it to be a tad quieter. However, there are still plenty of restaurants, rooftops, shops, and mini markets within a 5-minute walk radius. Train stops are also about 8-10 minute walk away if you're looking to go to the Karakoy side.

Rooms give off the classic Ottoman vibes, and my AC worked great.

The main reason I am absolutely happy with my stay here was the staff. The attentiveness and kindness from the staff was great, from the front desk, servers, night shift, and cleaning personnel. Shoutout to Fati and Mehmed, they were extremely helpful during check in, breakfast, check out, and if we ever needed anything.

The seating areas outside are comfortable and we spent hours relaxing when we needed a break from walking around and sightseeing.

My favorite part of breakfast was mixing their Halva and hazelnut butter and spreading it on their Simit bread (Turkish sesame bread).

I would absolutely recommend people to stay here if they are wanting to stay in the Sultanahmet area.

A lovely experience with one major flaw

The hotel has a rustic design to it which was very appealing to me. We were in room 301 which in my opinion is the best room. It has a beautiful view of the sea and sunlight comes through the large windows almost all day long as it is the corner room in the south west corner of the floor. The staff are really friendly and almost everyone knows English. I tried to learn a little bit of Turkish just to be respectful to the lovely locals but I never had a problem talking to the staff in English.The cleaning crew are good but even though we had them clean the room every other day, they would change the sheets once a week and wouldn't refill the soap and shampoo if we didn't ask personally. But we were ok with that. The breakfast was really good too. I would appreciate more fruit but to be fair, there always was at least two kinds of fruit available for breakfast. The hotel is located in a rather sweet spot. It is around 7 mins from the sea, 10 mins from blue mosque, 1 min from restaurants and convenient stores, 10 to 20 mins from a bakery, Turkish bathhouse, shoe market, tram or bus stations, subway, and the Grand Bazaar. On Wednesdays, there is a bazaar from which you can buy fruit and vegetables at a lower price about 5 mins east of the hotel. My only complain is that the room had no free electric plugs. So if we wanted to charge our electronics, we either had to do it in the bathroom or unplug something. I asked for a splitter or an electric power bar but they didn't have one.

This was my second stay at Sokullu Paşa because I was so impressed by my first. It did not disappoint. The room as lovely and clean and the staff is always helpful & friendly. You can’t beat the location - in the heart of Sultanahmet. Feels like a second home.

The location was great for most everything we wanted to do was in walking distance. If you do tours they will come pick you up and bring you back. Our only bad experience was when we took a cab from the ferryboat back to the hotel....next time we will use the Tram instead much cheaper and more reliable....overall the hotel and staff were great and very comfortable. The hotel was very comfortable for just lounging around. We went to the restaurant next door excellent food a little pricey but delicious. There are many restaurants in the area to choose from. There is also a little corner store with drinks, snacks, alcohol & cigarettes. We will be going back to this hotel but we will use the tram instead of taxis.

The hotel is located near a cafe which was extremely noisy almost all day and night. There was nothing in place to mitigate the sound that was coming in. The room itself was in poor condition and wasn't very comfortable. The hotel has great potential but many things need to be improved. The location is good as it is walking distance to Sultanahmet Square. The Wi-Fi was very weak or non-existent

Nice hotel and close to touristic area

The hotel is located in the touristic place of Sultanahmet and the staff were friendly. The hotel was kept clean by the staff by the time I arrived back every evening. We were impressed by the nightmanager Fatih who was exteemely friendly and helpul. It was extremely easy to book taxi from and tk the hotel at anytime. I was also guided on how to visit prominent places for cheaper prices. A map and a visiting card was given which was helpful. On the down side, the breakfast was terrible and food was cold if you went for breakfast at around 9 am. Also breakfast did not have labels next to the food tray. I had to ask the staff if there was meat in certain dishes. There was a standard breakfast every day and it was ok.

My wife and I traveled to Istanbul in last week of November. We booked Sokolu Pasha hotel as it looked very good in the pix. Upon our arrival there found out that the room we booked was not available. They said that one room like that available but right on top of reception and by the street (noisy). we were supposed to be there for a week. I told them to give us a different room but they said \"not available\". the staff was not helpful at all, they didn't care about our needs. Morning breakfast was average. very next morning i went to the desk and told them that i need to check out as I was not satisfied with my stay and the first and only thing they said \"You know you have already paid for this hotel and it's non refundable\". they didn't care about their customers and their needs. Any good hotel would have asked \"why? what can we do to make it better?\" but this hotel did not.

only good thing was that it was 5 minutes walk from Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque.
Pix don't do justice, rooms are very small. There is no T.V. just a compute monitor and doesn't have any English Channels as they told me \"No satellite, only cable\". I had high hopes when i booked this hotel but was extremely disappointed. we booked another hotel close by and could not have been more happier.

will never stay here again.

Interiors are true to the pictures true ottoman decor.

Breakfast is amazing with an open buffet, comfortable seating boasting with ambience.

Stepping into this hotel was like stepping back in time, but only better with Wifi.

Very close to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia!

The hotel is ideal for travellers who want to explore the old city, whilst experiencing traditional Ottoman surroundings. Our room was spacious and the open buffet breakfast provided a hearty start to our day. The staff we interacted with were pleasant (especially Fatih) and attentive. My only criticism would be that the payment for our stay was taken in full upon arrival despite stipulating that we would settle in cash upon checkout, which we were told at checkout - which may be more of an Expedia issue. Overall, good value for money if you're looking to explore during the day and want to rest at night.

Decoration is beautiful. Yet, whats behind the scenes is terrible. Bed is broken and has a very loud noise at any move you or your partner makes. I am a heavy sleeper but when my wife gets up from the bed, I used to wake up immediately. Ventilation is terrible to the extent that both, me and my wife, had stuffy nose. AC needs a full day to cool up. I used to keep the card inserted near the door so the room stays on and the AC doesn't shut off. Breakfast is not a buffet and is normal!! A dog welcomed us when we first got into the hotel which was rude because my wife is scared of dogs and allergic to pets hair. Oh not mentioning the squeaky bathroom door handle and the loud shower.

Nice hotel with very helpful and courteous staff, specially Fattah (Front desk) and Zubeir (Manager). Very helpful and willing to provide guidance with tourist attractions and shopping in Istanbul and Sultanhamet. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. As per recommendation by Fattah we took 4 hour afternoon Bosphorous cruise and cable car ride. It was wonderful and view of Istanbul from top of the hill where we rode the cable car was amazing.

Charming place out of another time period

It is a beautiful centrally located hotel. Our room next to the garden/ breakfast lounge was very pretty, but if you plan on sleeping in, this one may not be for you, as you can hear the other guests if they are outside your room. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet, as it gave a chance to sample several Turkish dishes. The staff are helpful and courteous. A very good experience.

Wonderful stay

I stayed in this hotel from 6-10 of October 2015. To my surprise on the contrary of what everyone told me before coming to Turkey, I found the warmest greeting from the staff in this small cozy boutique hotel. Everyone was so kind and helpful, always smiling. It has a serene feeling all around. Rooms are traditionally decorated and are fairly sized. For two persons in a standard double room it is very good. The location of the hotel to all the historical sightseeings in Sultanahmet is superb, even great distance towards the Grandbazar and the spice market. I will come back to the same hotel after leaving to BURSA for two nights. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Many thanks to Fettah, Mesut and Fetah. Very kind warm hearted staff.

Haven from the bustle

We wanted to capture the essence of Backpackers Istanbul. This turned out to be a backpackers luxury accommodation. There are probably cheaper hotels in Sultanahmet but not as comfortable or having such obliging front desk and kitchen staff. Want a brilliant breakfast in their \"cavern basement\" to plan your day, or a quiet beer on the verandah garden - this place has it. And you are 5 minutes from the square and a further short walk to the grand bazaar and beyond, trams and ferries ...

nice hotel close to all attraction in Sultan Ahmed

This hotel's location is perfect tugged way in quite street away from the main streets so quite and peaceful 5 minutes walk from Blue Mosque and other main attraction within Sultan Ahmed Mosque.

The staff here all excellent helpful reception staff and security very good helpful and polite and easy to talk to. I recommend speaking to Mahmoud, on reception desk very helpful. The rooms are as advertise but I would recommend the suite more over the standard rooms very clean spacious and balcony with excellent views.

over all I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone I will defiantly be going back their when I visit Istanbul again, to finish I would highly recommend food place called Sirvan Sofrasi excellent food here and great customer service.

Beautiful hotel with exceptional staff

My sister and I stayed in this hotel between 11th August 2015 and 16th August. Our stay could not have been better, we arrived tired from a late flight and had the manager greet us at reception to help us with luggage and getting settled. The next morning after breakfast he sat us down and provided us with a map explaining all the sightseeing monuments (which, by the way, are all within walkable distance) and also recommending things to do, shows to see, and tours to book. Our rooms were always spotless when we would come back after a busy day, with fresh towels and bedding. The staff were all super friendly, nothing was ever too much trouble for them, especially Fardi and the hotel manager (so charming!) Breakfast was always great, loads to choose from, and the garden area is really nice to sit in on a morning whilst making plans for the day. Please keep an eye out for wifi, as it was down for a day and took a while to work again. Also please be careful when using the electronic safe provided in rooms as we had issues when attempting to open it (there is a guide printed on the cabinet door on how to use- we only noticed this afterward). We would definitely recommend this hotel again due to cleanliness, friendly staff, and close proximity to everything in Sultanahmet. Can't wait to stay again next summer with our parents.

Great experience in a Turkish hotel.

Hotel was recommended to me and it lived up to my expectations. There are so many hotels in Istanbul it's confusing. This hotel is small like most hotels in Istanbul but our room was large and spacious. King bed. A verandah and a sitting area. Staff very friendly and helpful. Even had a happy hour at the bar in the afternoons.Breakfast is typical Turkish but I wanted to stay in a Turkish hotel and experience Turkish surroundings. I can always stay in a Western hotel anytime.

Brilliant location

The hotel is practivally 5 minutes from the Blue mosque, Aya Sofiya and Bisillica Cistern. Location was important for me during my stay. The hotel itself was built like an old wooden Turkish museum, but very well maintained, with a wonderful lobby area and a beautifyl seating area in a terrace. We enjoyed the swing outide in good weather. The concierge, Fateh was extremely helpful and very friendly. He helped us out with ticket bookings and recommendations for many of the attractions.

Interesting place, close to the palace etc

The hotel arranged a car to pick us up from the airport but we couldn't find it so we had to get a taxi instead. Good start. We found the hotel to be in a reasonable state of repair but some of the décor is looking a little tired and lacks either a conscientious repair man or manager (or both). Our room on the top floor with a balcony (suite with highest tariff) had a rusty fire escape and a missing tile to look at which distracted slightly from the view of the Sea of Mamara. We had some dirty dishes dumped outside our room for 3 days. The outside sun area off the hotel foyer is a favourite sunning spot and transit route for a host of local and stray cats, which explains the smell. On the plus side, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the hotel is within easy (uphill) walking distance of the hippodrome etc. Breakfast was also good; plentiful and a good variety of dishes. Overall, not an outstanding example of a boutique hotel. If I came to Istanbul again, I would try a different hotel.

I stayed here nearly 30 years ago and am pleased to say that while the staff have changed the hotel itself maintains the pleasing standard which I dimly recall from that far off time. The hotel has great charm and has a very helpful positive staff. In the 16th century it was the private residence of a very famous grand vezir & has been modernised while keeping traditional features. It is most conveniently located for seeing this splendid old city.

Visited for 3 nights. Had a generous size rooms for 2 single rooms. They were very clean and comfortable. Hotel was well positioned to walk to key sites such as Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar etc. I have to say that Fetha was extremely welcoming on arrival and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. He really helped us get the most out of our stay by showing us what we could do by making excellent reccomendations based on our time and points of interest. Breakfast was good and had a large variety of options. I will reccomend friends and family to stay here as the price was very reasonable for the comfort of our visit. Thank you taking good care.

This was a very Turkish feel about this hotel - not at all like your modern chains. It is less than 5 mins to the Blue Mosque and Sofia Palace. This is fabulous from a sight seeing perspective. The downside is that you should be prayer from the mosque and the activity in the streets below.

Cozy & affordable hotel near major attractions

Spent 3 nights at Sokullu Passa on the 3rd floor
PROS:
- Extremely friendly concierge staff. 'Feta' was so willing to provide some fantastic recommendations of local eats (seafood, pitas, authentic cuisine) and hang out spots (hooka and coffees). All of his recommendations turned out to be great! A few of the other front staff didn't have the same willingness to help, but that wasn't a big deal.
- Clean rooms! Rooms were cleaning promptly everyday. Toilets and showers were clean.
- A/C is nice and cold!
- There is a beautiful court yard that you can sit out at and have a drink or two.
- Breakfast is traditional Turkish breakfast along with some of your common N.American continental hot foods. Don't be picky, try all the food there, it's tasty even though some might not agree with your taste buds.
- Happy hour everyday from 4-6pm. But drinks are just as cheap or cheaper at the convince store at the bottom of the street/hill.
CONS:
- Depending on the direction your room faces, you may find that neighbouring buildings are close enough to see into your room. Most of the time you will have to pull down the blinds to have adequate privacy. Most of the buildings in Istanbul old side are close together.

TIPS:
- Take a taxi direction from the Airport to hotel, negotiate the fare with taxi driver, should be ~15 EUR or less than 40 LIRA for two people and luggage.

Huone oli erittäin kodikas ja turkkilaistyylisesti tyylikkäästi sisustettu. Vähän oli jo ajan hammas päässyt kalusteita puraisemaan, mutta se ei haitannut meitä. Sänky oli erinomaisen mukava. Ainoastaan käsisuihkua jäimme kaipailemaan. Aamiainen oli kauniissa tilassa ja turkkilaistyylinen. Palvelu oli todella ystävällistä.

Hotel situado en la zona del Sultanahmet, muy cerca de Santa Sofía, Mezquita Azul y Gran Bazar. El desayuno bufet es el típico de Turquía, si estás acostumbrado al desayuno europeo no lo vas a encontrar. Al lado mismo ( se ve en las fotos, pero no pertenece al hotel) hay un patio interior con un muy buen restaurante, lo recomiendo para cenar

Schönes altes Hotel, nichts für Leute mit Auto!

Es ist immer wieder fraglich, wenn Hotels angeben, über einen Parkplatz zu verfügen, dann vor Ort heisst, dass man angegeben hätte, dass Parkplätze in der Nähe bestehen würden.
\"In der Nähe\" ist ziemlich relativ, denn es ist dort sehr hügelig und damit erschwerend mit alten Menschen oder Kindern länger zu gehen, andererseits sind die Parkplätze improvisierte Flächen, wo man den Autoschlüssel abgeben muss, ohne ein Valley-Ticket o.ä. zu erhalten.

7泊しました。ジャクジーとマルマラ海が良く見えるベランダのついた最上の部屋を割り当てて頂き，快適に過ごしました。ホテルのスタッフはフレンドリーで親切です。朝食はおいしく，毎日少しづつメニューが変わるのも楽しみでした。イスタンブールは猫好きには天国ですが，このホテルでも朝食のテーブルでは居つきの猫がそばに侍ってくれます。最上の経験ができました。

スタッフさんたちは本当に親切で、部屋もきれかったです。
私のミスで宿泊日数を1日短く予約してしまっていたのですが、丸一日荷物を預かってもらえました。

1点だけ残念だったのが、風呂場の排水が詰まりかけていて足を洗うのに難儀しました。

De kamers waren heel netjes elke dag werd er schoongemaakt, de personeel was heel lief hulpzaam de ontbijt was heel goed je had genoeg keuzes. Blauwe moskee enz was allemaal te voet te bereiken als we weer naar Istanbul komen zullen we zeker weer deze hotel kiezen.

De accommodatie is goed gelegen. Binnen ongeveer 5 minuten ben je bij de blauwe moskee en de rest van de bezienswaardigheden liggen ook in de buurt. Het hotel ligt in een rustige straat.
Enige pinpunt is de wifi..deze is te zwak. Medewerker van het hotel zei dat dit te maken had met het feit dat het een oude wijk is.

de locatie van de hotel is ideaal, binnen 5 minuten ben je bv blauwenmoskee enz. maar de wijk en de zijstraten is best wel eng in de avond( ghetto). De hotel zelf vind ik geen 4 sterren waard, omdat ik heb 10 nachten bij hun gebleven, de bedden zijn nooit verschoond alleen wordt de bedden netjes gemaakt op hun manier en de kamer wordt helaas ook niet schoongemaakt, er wordt wel elke dag schoon handdoeken en pullbakken geleegd. ontbijt is matige voor me, maar het is wel smaak verschil, elke ochtend is bijna het zelfde buffet alleen de fruit, een cake en gebak wordt gewisseld, maar helaas de cake, gebak en de koffie is niet te eten geen smaak.

Die Bilder täuschen definitiv! Unser Zimmer war sehr sehr klein für zwei Personen auf dem Foto sah es allerdings riesig aus! Wir hatten einen normalen Standard Doppelzimmer. Wir haben uns dann beschwert und direkt ein neues größeres Zimmer bekommen. Das Frühstück war eine reine Katastrophe von meinem Essen kam ein Haar raus und die Auswahl war sehr klein sowie es hat uns nicht geschmeckt. Das Bad war schön die Zimmer-Einrichtung war auch okay aber durch die Bilder die hier enthaltenen ist hat man eine andere Vorstellung.

Leider waren wir deshalb enttäuscht.

Nous avions demandés 2 lits simple et nous avons eu un lit de 2 personnes et un matelas à même le sol!!!!! Le sol!!! L'hôtel étant complet, impossible de changer....alors que nous avions réservé 1,5mois à l'avance.. inadmissible.

Zentrales Hotel mit schöner Einrichtung

es war wirklich traumhaft schön, wir hatten eine bezaubernde Aussicht auf den Bosporus. Die Einrichtung war genau mein Geschmack! Das Frühstück war auch super.
Das hotel ist super gelegen und nur 5 min zu Fuß von der Blauen Morschee entfernt.

Vielen Dank für den Service und die schöne Zeit in Istanbul.

Hôtel à même pas 6-7min à pied de tout les endroit

Accueillant chaleureux petit déjeuner très complet avec beaucoup de choix, très bon emplacement à quelques mètres de tout les endroits à visiter sur İstanbul les mosquées les colonnes le palais Topkapi la citerne etc..

Rester seulement deux jours mais pas déçu !
