I arrived very late & was given a room on the top floor. There are no elevators so I had to ask reception to help with my carryon which they gladly helped. The room is a nice size with old furnitures. The ceiling light was not bright so I needed to plug the bedside ones as well. Bathroom is a bit moldy and the towels some are stained. The bathmat’s ends are frail already and should be retired. Bed you can tell is also need replacing as it is lopsided. One thing I do like is the free breakfast & location.

Disappointing Experience – Do Not Recommend

I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The room was in terrible condition — dirty, neglected, and nothing like the photos. The bedding, which should have been white, was a worn-out yellow, and the curtains were ripped. The entire room felt more like a prison cell than a place to relax. I left immediately and chose not to stay even one night.

Unfortunately, because I booked through Expedia as a non-refundable reservation, I wasn’t able to get a refund — but I would strongly advise others to stay away from this hotel. It was not worth the money or the stress.

Friendly helpful staff. Lovely roof terrace with view of the sea of Mamara. We went there to eat our great hotel breakfast 5-6 cute cats run around. Very close to Sultanamet hippodrome and the Blue Mosque. Quiet at night, so overall a great place to stay. Can highly recommend.

Book it!

Not usually someone who write reviews, but Rumours deserves it! Great location for Sultanahmet sights, nice spacious room (we had a triple), fantastic Turkish breakfast, and staff that went above and beyond to help when my bag was late arriving after it was left behind by my airline. Would whole-heartedly recommend! I do a lot of research when booking accommodations so I hope this can help others coming to Istanbul!

Rumours Inn, A Writers Dreamland!

Lets start from the entrance and it was the most warmest and coziest lobby in whole istanbul, period. I will explain the pro and growth opportunities below:
pro: 1. View from the room, 2. Distance to All the locations 3. Staffs are friendly, still remember Mesut, Kareem and other amazing people and their service [they give good recommendations, just ask] 4. Great breakfast, 5. Clean room and perfect temperature!
Growth opportunity: 1. Bathrooms are very cramped, 2. Stairs are very narrow. 3. High end rooms are smaller than expected!

Overall, I will choose Rumours Inn at any day over any other places in Istanbul

It was a small property but overall reasonable.
However some issues happened related to A/C cooling which affected the systems and created discomfort.

The hotel however did tried to arrange fans for us to somehow manage the 2 nights and as a consolation arranged airport transfer for us themselves.

So for us since that A/C was out of their control I’ll give them a benefit of doubt. However they’ll need to improve their housekeeping services as for a 9.0 rates hotel the housekeeping was very poor

This is a decent hotel with many facilities available, and breakfast is included. The staff is very helpful- they helped carry our luggage in and out, arranged for cabs, tours etc. The family suite was big enough for 4 and clean. Would have been nice to have an exhaust fan in the bathroom. The area outside the hotel is not the most clean and tidy, but that’s true for almost all hotels in the old city.

The breakfast had so many options, the staff was so friendly and helpful and they had a little kitty who used to welcome us anytime we went to our room and was the sweetest. If your looking for a 4 star standard hotel please don’t book here. The staff was nice and held our bags which was great and about the only great thing about the hotel and why they even got the 2 stars(I’d give a 1 otherwise). Firstly, the hotel is so hard to navigate. We only stayed here for 2 nights and every Uber had trouble locating it and getting their cars through the narrow road. It’s away from the main road so that makes sense. It is near beautiful views so I give them that. Secondly, the breakfast was greatly unacceptable and we had to go get something outside. Thirdly, the rooms were just horrible. The paint was peeling, the sheets smelled weird and the bathroom walls had severe water damage at the top. Everything was creaky and old and hotel doesn’t have a elevator. This hotel is at best a hostel and is not meant for those who want comfort through their travels. I booked this hotel because of the ravishing reviews but I have now begun to realize that these reviews must be manufactured or fake and I’m here to help you out. If you care about your comfort DO NOT BOOK WITH RUMOURS INN!!!!

Off the beaten track gem!

I made a last minute booking at Rumours. What a surprise awaited me! The hotel is located out of the way of the main tourist area, tucked away on a side street. The hotel has a steam punk vibe, very cool lobby with fish tanks, lots of seating and books galore. Very friendly and helpful staff! The room was fantastic, with a gorgeous bathroom. Breakfast was included and so generous! I would highly recommend this hotel if you are traveling to Istanbul.

Highly recommend this hotel! The staff was so friendly and kind, they helped us find transportation from the door to the airport and there is a laundry service as well. They had plenty of recommendations for how to spend your time in turkey and also handed out free water at the door.

The staff at Rumors was absolutely accommodating and helpful. Very customer service oriented!! It’s located in a location that can be difficult to find. However that is something they can’t change. It is walking distance to the Blue Mosque and lots of shopping.

Location is excelente related to the downtown but the physical location - street of access - es dirty and unattractive. The lobby decorations is sloppy and doesn’t invite you to sit down to relax. . There isn’t elevator or lift. I didn’t visit the terrace because it was inconvenient .The breakfast is super good and abundant and the staff is very helpful.

Great hotel, very quiet area, which was great as Istanbul is completely bonkers with traffic’s noise and people.

Only complaint was the room smelt very damp and this transferred itself to our clothing.

Apart from the dampness it’s a cracking place to stay.

This is a budget hotel in a back street area. That said it is perfect for exploring Istanbul 5mins walk to the Blue Mosque. The roof terrace has spectacular views and great to relax on after a hard day being a tourist. The rooms are basic but clean. Feels a bit like a hostel but how much time are you gonna spend there in this fabulous city. It dose feel a bit odd as the streets around it seem a bit run down and it’s not easy to find. But I would really recommend this as a great base to explore Istanbul and sleep.

The location of the inn is fantastic as it is situated next to both the sultanahmet mosque and the hagia sophia. It is also very close to the trams (5 min walk) which can take you around the city for pretty cheap. The facilities of the inn are pretty good considering the amount you are playing and i would go as far to say a bargain when factoring things such as, location of the inn and how close it is to shops, restaurants, grand bazaar and other tourist stuff. I would also like to add that the staff were very friendly and professional as if you needed help with anything they would try to resolve it asap.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and will love to stay here again when I visit in the future.

Like: location; only a few minutes of walking to Blue mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi palace, trains, some shopping and dining options. There is a rooftop terrace with views of sea.

Dislike: the street outside is rough and on a hill, entrance feels like an alley. Some taxis have trouble finding hotel. No elevator, but staff carries baggage upstairs and downstairs.
