Room was not as advertised. We paid for a Family Room, described on Hotels.com as on the top floor with 2 King beds and a Single bed. We arrived and were put in a street-level Triple Room (smaller, with 3 single beds). When we queried it, we were told to discuss with the manager the next morning. We spoke to the manager at breakfast, and he told us that there are no rooms with 2 King beds and 1 Single bed in the hotel, but eventually agreed to move us to another room on the top floor (away from the street-level noise) with 3 Single beds, which was slightly larger. No rebate offered.

Rooms were generally clean, except for the tops of wardrobes, which were filthy. Don't put your towel up there to dry like I did!

Property needs renovation( wallpaper with dirty marks everywhere) , heating too low and no way to control it,heating does not work in washroom ( snow/freezing outside), washroom door lock does not work, no garbage basket in room, tea pot handle burns hand, property on Hill hard to walk if you are with children although location close to mosques, reception had a teenager kid with minimal language skills , could not report problems to him. Very bad experience.

The location of the hotel is too much practical for visiting historical and shopping places.

Except one little remark, the bending bed should not be taking out from the room without prior notice.

My brother and I reserved 2 rooms June 12 - June 27th. Due to personal circumstances we had to leave on the 22nd . We notified the owner/manager on the 18th (4 days prior) that we were leaving earlier and when we asked about the policy of early check out he said “ you will only for the nights you stay”. He even booked our Airport Transfer Taxi- after Contacting Expedia for refund the Hotel has denied our refund for the 5 nights for both rooms - saying that they were not notified that we we were leaving earlier . Dishonest to say the least! What was a decent experience turned to a disappointing end. I am definitely not going back to Sultanahmet Cesme Hotel and will make sure my friends ,family and beyond are aware of this. It’s not so much about the money they’re taking from usanymore ,it’s the fact that they’re lying about it.

Could have been better

Booked the hotel based on excellent previous reviews. We were given a much smaller room to stay in than the one we booked. Then the next day we were given the correct room. Honestly the stay was not so good, the hotel needs some renovation and they are doing some maintenance, and it is in a steep hill. The cleaning is not good. The breakfast is good though.

We finally didn’t stay at the Cesme Hotel because there was an issue with the water in the room. However the owner of the hotel IMMEDIATELY moved us to another hotel of the family and upgraded to a nice room. Our stay was fabulous and personnel in both hotels was very helpful and friendly. They assisted us with tours reservations and information of the city. Breakfast was ok with coffee and tea and other alternatives of cheese and ham, eggs and local cuisine. I recommend their hotels. Very well located.

Friendly and cheap

This place was really good value for money and the hosts were very helpful. The beds were really comfortable and it is so close to the old centre of Sultanahmet with the most amazing sights. I would stay here again. The only disappointment was the rooftop which is being renovated.

5 min of a little hard walk to the tramway station (cuz it's ups & downs streets) & also close to the sea with nice view.

Good price for Sultanahmet Area hotel

Very good price by Expedia.
It is at the bottom of the hill from Sultanahmet, so only for people who like to walk uphill.
In the rooms you can hear too much from other rooms and street.
Very close to Sultanahmet (just a few minutes walking).

Good base for your sightseeing needs

We stayed in 2 different rooms on 2 separate nights. One was on the 4th floor and quite small. The other was on the 2nd floor and quite large and comfortable, although closer to the street and a little noisier. Kettle, tea and coffee in the rooms, as well as tea and a water cooler in the lobby. 24/7 staff at the front desk, even when we arrived from the airport at 2:30 am. They all seemed very friendly. Breakfast was delicious, and a lovely balcony to sit and hang out with a view of the water. A short walk to main Sultanahmet attractions.

Turkish Delight!

Very comfortable and clean room in an excellent part of historical Istanbul. Short but steep walk up to the Hippodrome and from there an easy walk to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and all the other historical sites. No elevator in the hotel so it's better for able bodied guests. Nice Mediterranean style breakfast in the morning and helpful staff.

A short (uphill) walk to the major attractions of Sultanahmet. Rooms were clean, staff were friendly and helpful.

Only complaint was noise from the street below, but this was mostly during the day.

Look no further - stay here!

I looked for a really long time to find a hotel in Istanbul, and to save you some time, just stay here! It's got it all - Great location close to everything. The breakfast was good with several different options. The value was outstanding for a nice clean room in the centre of it all. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. It was a safe area and we had a fabulous time.

I had a double room which was a good size and very comfortable and clean. The hotel is close to the Blue Mosque yet not in a busy area. The breakfast was very simple and only available for 90 min each morning. Would definitely consider staying here again.

The hotel is in a good location, convenient short walk to Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. Front desk service is extremely friendly (Varol was very helpful), and hotel breakfast was quite good considering the hotel cost.

Downsides are the air-conditioning is hit or miss (we stayed in 3 different rooms over 4 nights, sometimes the A/C on full blast didn't do anything to cool the room), and the \"convenient\" walks around the neighborhood are uphill in most directions, so your legs will burn. Also walls are very thin...that didn't bother us, but apparently our neighbors were bothered because they kept knocking on our wall.

Good economical stay near all the main sites

This is a good little hotel if you're traveling on a budget and/or want to be close to the main tourist sites in Sultanahmet. The hotel staff is very nice. Wifi worked well, and breakfast was small but sufficient. The breakfast room has a nice view, as does the rooftop terrace. There are plenty of restaurants in the area for dinner, and the blue mosque is maybe a 10 minute walk. I drove, which wasn't too much of a challenge though the roads are small and cobblestone in the neighborhood. Not sure where the free parking was, as I ended up paying about 30 TL to park right around the corner from the hotel for 2 nights (not really a big deal). My room was very small, so I wouldn't recommend it for a long stay. My only real complaint was the a/c was not working in my room so it was pretty uncomfortable. After the first night I asked the staff to have it looked at while I was gone - when I returned they said that is was blowing cold now, but there was no change. Maybe a language barrier... who knows. Other that that, it was a good stay and you can't beat it for the money.

Our time at Sultanahmet Cesme Hotel was amazing. The hotel is centrally located and very close to the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, Grand Bazaar, etc. This is a family run hotel and everyone is super nice and caring. Varol, the hotel manager, was great and helped us with directions, getting taxis, and arranging laundry. Him and his family made us feel right at home. There was turkish breakfast served every morning and although it was the same thing every morning, it was nothing short of amazing. The one thing I would say is that the hotel is located at the bottom of a hill, so if you don't like walking, or if you have knee issues, perhaps this is not the place for you. Otherwise, the hill really didn't bother us. Istanbul was super hilly in general, so we got used to climbing everywhere we went.

I feel so lucky to have found this hotel. The rooftop terrace is excellent, and the owner and his brother (and the rest if the staff) were so pleasant and accommodating. Great location, definitely would stay again!
Tip: rooms on the upper floors tend to be quieter, but no lift.

Disappointing stay.

As the hotel site says that if a guest stays for more than 3 days he/she gets airport drop and pick up free. That didin't happen in our case. As we had to catch an early morning flight we had asked for assistance. The hotel person asked for a cab and we had to pay for it. (39TL) Before getting into the taxi I asked for the explanation, and I said that on your site it is mentioned that if a guest stays for more than 3 days he/she gets the airport shuttle free of cost. The hotel person said \"ya...it does say that...but you didn't mention that earlier.\" I was very surprised to hear that. Wasn't it the hotel's responsibility to provide the service which they have mentioned on their site proudly ?
We didn't have any time to argue with the hotel person as it happened very early in the morning, and we had a flight to catch.
This experience was very disappointing for us.

The person in charge was not so friendly. The first day when we went to breakfast, there was nobody there, that was at nine o'clock, but the guy told me breakfast starts at 8 o'clock (not in a friendly way) I told him, but it's Nine o'clock, just at that moment he realized it was late. We waited more than one hour. Another thing is that they don't accept payment with Dollars, the guy told me: Change your dollar and come back. Another thing is there is no elevator, and it is not so nice to carry the baggage to the third floor. The room and cleaning was ok. The place is okay because it is near many important tourist attractions.

La struttura si trova in una posizione invidiabile, a 5 minuti a piedi da tutte le principali attrazioni di Sultanahmet. Potrete andare alla Moschea Blu, Santa Sofia, Topkapi, Basilica Cisterna in massimo 5 minuti. Anche Grand Bazaar e ponte sul Bosforo sono vicinissimi. Oltre alla posizione ci tengo a mettere in risalto lo staff del Hotel: si tratta di una gestione familiare, una bellissima famiglia gentile e disponibile. Ci hanno dato consigli preziosissimi per evitare fregature e vivere la vera Istanbul. Un grazie e un abbraccio a Tekin, il General Manager. Persona affidabile e gentilissima vi aiuta per qualsiasi necessita. In questo Hotel sanno cosa significhi ospitalita. Pulizia ottima. Camere comfortevoli. Se tormiamo a Istanbul torneremo sicuramente al Cesme Hotel e se conosco qualcuno che deve andare senza dubbio gli consiglio di scegliere questa struttura. Super koselig hotel i hjerte av Sultanahmet. Hyggelige og hjelpsomme drivere av hotellet. Vi følte oss veldig velkommen og godt tatt vare på . God Tyrkisk frokost og fint rom og bad . Perfekt beliggenhet.

Perfect! near to everything !

The hotel is perfect, good quality/price! I was there for 2 days at the begening of my trip and came back for an other 2 days at the end. Near to everyting easy to walk : grand-bazar , blue mosque, bosphore. The manager send me all the information about the shuttle and what we can visite by whatsapp. The service is verygood people care about you ! The owner make sure evrything fine and answer all my questions! Breakfast is good, you can go see the marmara sea on the roof top ! I'll come back for sure

Tercera vez que me alojo y lo disfruto

Esta ha sido la tercera vez que me he alojado en este hotel. Lo más sobresaliente del hotel es el personal muy amable, sobretodo Tekin Kaya quien siempre está pendiente de cualquier necesidad que tengamos. El desayuno es bastante bueno, tipo mediterraneo pero Tekin nos ofreció un día huevos revueltos como para variar la dieta. Eso fue muy bueno!! Gracias Tekin! La ubicación del hotel es excelente porque está muy cerca de la Mezquita Azul y de toda la zona turística sin que llegue a estar tan cerca como para no poder dormir. La vista panorámica del último piso es fabulosa. Lo único que estuvo no muy bueno fue que no nos hicieron la habitación un día pero luego se solucionó el problema. Recomiendo este hotel a personas que deseen hacer un viaje de turismo a Estambul. La relación precio calidad es justa. Gracias amigos!

Wij moesten naar een andere hotel dan dat wij geboekt hadden omdater problemen waren in de kamers werd ons verteld. Andere was de Villa pasha de naam voldoet zeker niet aan de realiteit. Eerste dag niet kunnen slapen van de geluid overlast die wij hadden. Eerst live muziek daarna motor geluiden na de stroomuitval hadden wij last van alarm die voor de deur van onze kamer afging vreselijke piepende geluid. Mat andere worden verschrikkelijke nacht gehad. Na onze klacht mochten wij na twee dagen weer terug naar de cesme hotel.

Das Hotel war eine reinste Kafastrofe waren 4 Nächte keine Reinigung des Zimmers keine Handtücher das Personal einfach eine Frechheit wie die mit Kunden umgehen für das Geld habe ich etwas mehr erwartet kann nicht verstehen wie so ein Hotel gut bewertet wird würde es keinen weiter empfehlen.

Schimmelgeruch im zummer

Die Lage des Hotels ist top ansonsten würde ich das Hotel keinen weiter empfehlen, erst haben wir ein zummer bekommen im 4 OG ohne Aufzug natürlich, so nicht schlimm wäre da nicht da dieses zummer ehr für ein Person gedacht war. Nur waren wir zu zweit die südlich ging zur Wand ins Hinterhof. Und Armeisen hatten wir gratis. Nach Zimmer Wechsel gab es das Zimmer ganz unten im ersten Moment haben wir es nicht bemerkt das es so stark nach Schimmel roch, mit Klima war der Geruch auszuhalten aber keine Lösung. Wir haben das Zimmer behalten da es sich nicht mehr lobte zu wechseln. Insgesammt 4 Nächte verbracht. Waren froh im wider zuhause zu sein. Personal war nett Frühstück „OK“ in 4 Tagen habe ich nur ein mal gefrühstückt also das Geld kann man sich sparen. Am „schönste“ was nicht wirklich schön war, war sie dachterasse...war sehr enttäuscht.

Die perfekte Lage kommt dem Hotel sehr zu gute . Das Hotel liegt nur 5 Gehminuten von der grossen Einkaufsstraße entfernt . Die Zimmer sind anfangs sauber werden aber in der Woche nicht gründlich gereinigt nur neue Handtücher werden gebracht. Dies ist für Leute die ihr Hotelzimmer selbst sauber halten aber kein Problem . Der Lärm ist auch leicht nervig man kann die Nachbarn hören.ansonsten alles gut . Gerne Wieder.

Esperienza favolosa!!!
Posizione fantastica dell'hotel, a due passi dai maggiori punti d'interesse della città: Santa Sofia, Moschea Blu, Cisterna Basilica, Gran Bazar, ecc...
La gentilezza del proprietario e del personale è unica, ci hanno aiutato, dato indicazioni, consigliato cosa vedere e dove mangiare.
Le camere sono pulite e all'ultimo piano della struttura c'è un terrazzo da cui ammirare una vista molto bella della città.
Se dovessi tornare ad Istanbul (cosa che farò sicuramente) tornerò a soggiornare qui e lo consiglio vivamente a tutti!

This hotel was cheap and good but it is small so you can only sit at your room. There is no big places to chill other then the small lobby. The staff where nice and helpfull.

Great location, nice staff and cozy place.

Great location, nice staff and cozy place.
Our only issue was one night that our room neighbor's started to fight and scream around 2am waking us up, their fight lasted for about an hour...
Other than that I recommend you to stay here, mostly due to the location, is super close to main places.
