I was a really good decision of choosing Villa sphendone. We really had a great time. I would definitely recommend this . The kitchen lady is just amazing so loving and jolly my kids loved her. The man saif ullah who welcomed us is really good he helped us with every other need. Its clean peaceful and comfortable. Their breakfast service and the food was really good. Higly recommended

I really enjoyed our stay at Villa Sphendone Suites. Our host, Seyfullah, was very friendly and helpful. There was traditional Turkish breakfast each day that was filling and light at the same time. Perfect way to start the day. I recommend this quaint boutique style hotel and would definitely stay there again. It's shady so close to do many things: The Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the Hippodrome, the Basilica Cisterna, walkable to the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Bazaar, the ferries, etc.

The hosts are really nice but the property needs to be improved. The floor was coming off in places. Some of the drawers were broken. There were no soaps or shampoo on the room when we arrived. We had to ask for them but we didn't get them on time for our first shower. After travelling for 24 hrs it want funto shower without soap or shampoo. The room was big though and it was in an excellent location. Also make sure you don't get stuck outside the hotel. The hosts don't respond if you ring the doorbell. So overall it was an ok experience.

was a good location with everything near it could do with a refurbishment a further was old breakfast was very simple no variety bathroom was very cold as radiator was broken and couldn't use jetted bath as it didn't have the sink plug you could only get hol of someone in the morning breakfast hours and Deniz was only English speaker there and you call him on the phone.

We really have a very good time in this suite, we can have good time rest while traveling just like home. Here we would like to thank Deniz, his care and hospitality from the first day we met him to the last day he arranged a car to send us to airport. We enjoyed very much of our daily conversation with him. We also would like to thank Sweet who prepared delicious meal for us every morning, her kindness, her diligent and her bright smile touch us. Thank you, thank you all to make our Istanbul trip be special and wonderful! Also the location is very convenient to access to many sites, mostly are walkable distance.

We lucked out when we checked in this beautiful villa. The rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped. The breakfast had a lot of variety. Deniz, the host was incredible. He went above and beyond with his hospitality - recommending all the must sees on the map to personally showing us around to the Princes Islands, evenings spent playing backgammon and learning all about Turkish culture. We were absolutely gutted that we didn't spend more time at the place. I would go back to Istanbul just to spend time with Deniz, the host.

Great Location and a lovely host

We chose this place due to location for old town which is excellent. It is walking distance from all the major attractions in old istanbul and we did not need to use a taxi once. It is a traditional house converted into a hotel and so it is comfortable, quiet and clean. Deniz the owner was a pleasure to meet. He is very helpful, polite and full of knowedge with regards attractions and restaraunts etc. Breakfast is basic but everything you need to get your day started. The AC kept the room cool which was bery useful in mid August. The rooms are traditional and clean as opposed to modern and lush but they are large and very accomodating. If wtaying in istanbul for a few days and need a good location for the old town I would definitely recommend a stay here.

Great stay

As soon as i arrived Dennis the manager welcomed me in a friendly manner , upgraded my room and advised me about istanbul .

The rooms are decorated in a \"shabby chic\" style with interesting antique pieces .

Room was lovely clean and quiet with a lovely comfortable 4 poster bed .

Miss Tanya the Breakfast lady was very friendly and helpful .

I liked it so much i stayed an extra night !

Great location, close to many sights

It is a small but great place, very close to the main sights. The breakfast was good and the staff super friendly (not much English but it was not problem at all).

The only inconvenient we had was during the check-in, there was nobody at the property. The staff of the hotel in front opened the door and room for us, but it was frightening at the beginning until we started asking around and were helped. I need to clarify that we arrived late (fly delayed), by 11pm and we didn't notify the hotel about that.

I highly recommend this great hotel, we will definitely go back if we return to Istanbul.

In fact, I booked in this place because of the good comments that I read also because of the beautiful pictures of the room in the site, but when we reached the place at noon they took us to another building which as they said belongs to the same hotel but we sow that this is another hotel with another titel and lowest value and they let us wait in the reception for more than one hour because they have not any idea of our reservation.
We realized that they cheat us, but we couldnot do any thing because I paied the money when I booked and there is no way to returne the mony back then we stayed for 3 days then we changed the hotel to another one close to it with better price and better services.

Great place. Perfect location. Nice and helpful owners. A top value in Sultanahmet.
We stayed here 3 nights. Large room, one of just 4. Good breakfast includes a freshly made cheese omelette if desired. Just a few hundred meters from the Blue Mosque, dozens of restaurants and shops.

Having stayed in other guest houses in Istanbul, this guest house stood out in many ways. It did not feel like a hotel, but more of a home-stay. Upon arrival, the host took extra time to welcome us and gave us a list of things to see and places to eat. Our room was very spacious, clean, and elegantly decorated with antique pieces of furniture. The foam mattress bed was very comfortable and provides great sleep. The bathtub/jacuzzi was a bonus. It also includes a full-blown Turkish breakfast. The main host and the night host spoke both English and Russian. If we return to the historic section of Istanbul, this will be at the top of list of places to stay.

More expensive than advertised. Would not take credit card for second room and would only take cash even though the site says they take credit cards. There was no bulb in the fixture over the bathroom sink making it difficult to see when using the mirror. The shower was in a bathtub that leaked water all over the floor each time it was used requiring a towel be left on the floor to sop up the water. Other than that... the room was big and spacious and comfortable and it was a good location. The breakfast was sparse at best, a 6\" omellette for 4 of us with toast already made on the table along with a jam of some type of fruit, some feta and another non-descript cheese, and a couple of slices of some type of lunch meat - substandard to the other three hotels we used in Istanbul.

My wife, two adult children and I stayed in a single room. There was a quen size be and a pull out. The single bed was very nice. The pull out was not too omfortable but i have had much worse. The room was large with very nice furnishings. Nothing fancy but you felt as if you were in someone's home. We walked to the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, and all the other sites. It it a VERY steep walk from the hotel and not for those in poor health or poor condition. The hotel staff was wonderful and helpful. The bath was very clean, plenty of hot water and pressure. The breakfast was very simple but tasty and all we needed. I would have no reservations about staying here again. We never felt our safety was compromised.

Pros: Nice decor in the room. Beds were comfortable. Quite location. Hotel has tickets to most attractions. Cons: Located at the bottom of a steep hill although only 15 mins walk to the sites. Breakfast was very bare. Bathroom had a faint sewer smell. Customer service needs to be improved.

Charming 4 Rm Guest House close to historic sites

Charming romantic accomodations. Very accomodating for late breakfasts which are included with the room. Great location within walking distance to most historic sites. The only drawback was that the property sits close to other housing behind it. Occupants of that housing directly behind our room were up until 2 or 3 am talking in loud voices at least 2 nights of my stay. In addition, their window is exactly opposite the window in this room, so you could see when the light went on and off and see people's shadows on the curtain of my room.

The Hotel is small but has a superb location- it is within walking distance of most places you will want to see - Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace,Basillica Cisterna ,Grand Bazaar and Arasta Bazaar ( all these are must-dos in Istanbul). Deniz the owner is a wealth of information about things to do in Turkey and despite some confusion about our arrival dates ( not sure why) he managed the situation quite well. The Manager, Azamat ( who is studying to be a doctor) was very friendly and helpful and despite an early departure managed to serve us breakfast in our room ( thanks Azamat, much appreciated). The cleanliness in the hotel was average and the toilets are in desperate need of an upgrade - everything works but needs improvement. We were a family of 4 , 2 kids aged 9 and 6 and the hotel was comfortable- it allowed us time to enjoy Istanbul without having to worry about the traffic and there were lots of restaurants around - must go to \"Sokullu\" and have their Testi Kebab - you will need reservations but the service and food was great.

The suite, staff and location were absolutely amazing. We were able to visit every 'attraction' with ease and the owner/manager proved very knowledgeable of the city and went out of his way to set up any type of tour we'd like, explaining the perks and disadvantages. My only concern was that when we returned to our suite the second day the AC had been shut off by house cleaning and it happened to be the hottest day in Istanbul of the summer, but accidents happen. My family (two kids aged 9 months and 3 years) enjoyed our stay and would return if we happened to find ourselves in Istanbul.

Best Hotel in Turkey

My girlfriend and I spent three nights at this hotel while visiting Turkey. The owners were incredibly nice. Even though we slept in the first day, they keep our breakfast for us until almost noon when we got up (and the breakfast was great!). The location is perfect -- it is close to all of the sites you would want to see in a short time to Istanbul. The room was very impressive and comfortable (unlike a number of other places were stayed at while traveling through Turkey). Overall, if I come back to Istanbul I will be staying here 100%.

Expedia chose me this hotel as I needed twin beds... the room was nice but a little disappointing the second bed was a bed settee not having the comfort of the rather impressive four poster bed.The room would be good for a couple but for two single guys needing separate beds it was not really worth the four star price we paid.
The hotel is very difficult to find down some back streets and even taxi had difficulty finding it so maybe best to get the hotel to organise your arrival.

A Lovely Hotel

Hotel situated in Sultanahmet district on the Europe side of the City so very convenient for sightseeing (Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace etc). Good location for access to/from Ataturk airport but it would take time to reach from Sabiha Gokcen (especially during rush hour). Public transport is the best way to get around rather than car (tram, metro or ferryboat) and you can buy a top up card for this.

Hotel itself was clean and tidy, the room was very large and very nice, the Owner and staff always willing to help. Only issue with the hotel at the time was the building work going on next door but it was off season, during the daytime only and maintenance has to be done at some stage.

Location of the hotel in the oldest part of the City means that the streets are narrow, cobbled and steep (not ideal for the infirm). There are plenty of basic restaurants in the area to get food but it pays to look around before you choose one.

Would recommend this hotel to any couple on holiday.

Villa Sphendone Suites - Decent Sultanahmet Option

A friend and I stayed at the Villa Sphendone Suites for a weekend recently and mostly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are spacious and comfortable for the price, the hotel is very conveniently located just a short five-minute walk from the Blue Mosque, and the staff friendly and helpful, although perhaps a bit too overeager and talkative.

We did encounter a few inconveniences, starting with a mildew-like odor that I hope the other rooms here do not suffer from. The room was also a bit noisy due to some close-by construction in the mornings, but hopefully that is only a temporary problem. Finally, the breakfast is pretty bare-bones, and while this is typical of much Istanbul accommodation, I would have expected a little more quality and variety for this price point.

All in all, if I didn't have a room booked in advance, I'd certainly consider stopping by and seeing if they room to my liking in the future, but my first choice would probably be to explore some other options the next time I am in town.

From the moment we arrived we were made more than welcome by Deniz and all of his helpful staff.
Villa Sphendone Suites are literally five minutes walk from the Blue Mosque and Hippodrome and not much further from a major tram route., and although the route is uphill we had no difficulty. (We're in our sixties) We always felt safe when walking to and from our accomodation.
Deniz is a mine of information which we found invaluable. Because of him we were able to make the most of our stay and explore the many sights both historic and modern. Nothing seems to be too much for him.
Our accommodation was clean and tidy with all necessary amenities - the jacuzzi bath was a real boon after lengthy explorations.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Greatest place to stay and greatest staff ever

I was extremely pleased with this hotel. At first, my mother and I were not sure about the place. It was so different from the 4 and 5 star hotels we were used to. However, within a day's time, we could not think of any other better place to be. My mother, in particular, kept calling the hotel \"home\" because the place felt like home. The manager, Denis, was very kind and his staff were the most helpful people I have ever encountered. The room was large and comfortable, much bigger than a traditional hotel room. The bathroom was clean and well maintained. The hotel is in a great location. Everything is within walking distance, but if you are not inclined to walk, as my mother and I are not, there were always cabs available. We were very happy. I plan to go back to Turkey one day. If I do, I am only staying at the Villa Sphendone.

Great location for historical city. Few minutes to Palace, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and tram stops for the rest of the city, but also a quiet neighbourhood. No busy traffic or late-night clubs nearby.

Really appreciated the breakfast, which they were happy to serve at any time of the morning.

All staff helpful and positive at all times.

Bedroom was comfortable and pleasant.

Wifi didn't work as advertised - had to go to the hotel kitchen. That's the only reason for the 4 grade, not 5. If you're not a geek like me then who cares?

Great quiet location near the Hippodrome just a short walk to the Blue Mosque and Aya Sophia. Comfortable warm rooms and plenty of hot water. Perfect for the snow and windy weather we experienced. Deniz and the rest of the staff very helpful; the service could not be faulted.

The hotel staff were very helpful. Besides being friendly, they helped us deal with a difficult situation regarding our lost luggage. The breakfast was plentiful and fresh, the room was clean. The location could not be better for seeing the main historical parts of Istanbul on foot. We cannot wait to go back!

Ich hatte einen wirklich angenehmen Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel! Das Personal war unglaublich freundlich und zuvorkommend – man hat sich sofort willkommen gefühlt. Mein Zimmer war sehr sauber, gemütlich eingerichtet und bot alles, was man braucht. Besonders gut gefallen hat mir das reichhaltige Frühstück mit frischen, regionalen Produkten. Auch die Lage des Hotels ist ideal – ruhig, aber dennoch nah an allen wichtigen Sehenswürdigkeiten.
Ich komme auf jeden Fall gerne wieder und kann das Hotel wärmstens weiterempfehlen!

O lugar precisa urgente de renovação e manutenção. Problemas no aquecimento, banheiro entupido. Falta de limpeza durante a estadia. Achamos o apartamento limpo quando chegamos. Fomos recebidas com gentileza mas tivemos que sair dias antes do período da hospedagem estar concluído, não dava para ficar lá.

Köpeğimle seyahat ettiğim için çok seçeneğim olmuyor ve biraz mecburen burayı seçmiştim. Ama ailecek hayran kaldık, çok memnun ayrıldık. Konum olarak çok güzel yerde ( amacınız seyahat ise ) , odalar antika dükkanı gibi hoş bir tarzda ve geniş, konforlu. odada duş malzemelerinden, su ısıtıcı ve kahveye kadar herşey vardı. görevli hanımefendi güleryüzü ile bizi sanki evinde misafir etmiş gibi hissetirdi. bundan sonra başka otel aramaya gerek yok . tek sıkıntı belki otopark olabilir ama zaten bu mahallede bunu beklemek hata olur

Das für uns reservierte Zimmer war nicht für vier Personen geeignet obwohl ich vorab in einer Mail den Chef zusätzlich informiert habe. Schimmel gab es im Badezimmer und der Safe war defekt ( in beiden Zimmern). Frühstück wurde im Büro serviert , während der Chef lautstark telefonierte. Er meinte das würde den Gäste so gefallen, weil es einer familiären Atmosphäre entspräche. Es gab kein separaten Frühstücksraum! Nachdem wir uns mehrmals beschwert haben, konnten wir in ein größeres Zimmer umziehen, aber erst nach der zweiten Nacht.
Personal war freundlich. Das zweite Zimmer gut und so wie wir das bei der Buchung erwartet haben.

10min nachdem wir eingecheckt sind, haben wir das Hotel sofort verlassen obwohl es Nachts war. Die Zimmer stinken sind dreckig und es hat überall Schimmel an dem Wänden. Es ist alles andere als ein 4 geschweige den 1 Sterne Hotel.

Zum schlafen genügt es vollkommen.

Es gibt in diesem Hotel nur 4 Zimmer. Wir hatten eine Wohnfläche von 45 qm, es war doch sehr gemütlich. Sauberkeit naja, es geht.

Rezervasyon yaptığımızda yazılan ve görsellere fazlaca inanmışız.
Maalesef yalnızca hayal olarak kaldı.
Birde otelin sahibi olduğu sonradan öğrendiğim beyefendi ve arkadaşlarının rakı balık muhabbetini canlı yayında dinlemek zorunda kaldık gecenin bir vaktine kadar...Hiç hoş bir durum değildi......

Lite koselig hotell

5 dager på dette hotellet. De første 3 dagene var vi alene på hotellet. Først av alt: Balkonger! Det finnes ikke på hotellet selv om det står dette i beskrivelsen. Det var en liten nedtur, da det var derfor vi valgte hotellet. Da vi kom fikk vi rom i 1. etasje. Vi ligger å ligge med åpent vindu (ref: balkong!), så vi spurte om å få i andre etasje istedet. Betjening fikset dette greit. Begge rom var romslige og grei standard på. Dog noe smakløs design.

Betjeningen er førsteklasses og veldig hjelpsomme. Dessverre er betjening dårlig i engelsk. Grei frokost, men så heldig å få den servert rett utenfor hotellrommet på egen platå.

Alt i alt; greit hotell til rimelig pris. Men burde ikke hatt 4 stjerner, mer 3 stjerners. Likevel verdt prisen.

Kleine Villa in der Altstadt

Das Hotel liegt sehr nah an die Moscheen (Blaue und Sofia), Grand Basar usw., also alles zu Fuß erreichbar. Die Zimmer sind sauber, aber schon in die Jahre gekommen (Bad riecht ziemlich stark).
Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit! Es ist eher Familienbetrieb, alle nett und sprechen sehr gut Englisch.
