Wonderful hotel. One of the best I’ve stayed in, in Europe.

Think I got an upgrade, stayed on 11th floor, room was massive with stand alone bath, and seperate shower.

Mini bar, coffee machine, kettle, complimentary water, and apples in the hall. Only had breakfast one day as had to leave early on second morning, due to Storm Ingrid. But breakfast was great, buffet with huge selection of hot & cold items.

Extremely dirty blinds in the room which are white so obvious to see the stains. Had to ask for them to be removed which they did.

Room was basic. Lukewarm water for showers all of the 4 night stay despite asking for the issue to be resolved on two occasions.

Not a 5 star hotel! Need to hire a bell captain, have support staff for outside to help with luggage. We had our luggages on hold while we were waiting for the room to get ready, and instead of them bringing it to us when we presented the ticket, we had to go back and find our luggages ourselves!! Great breakfast buffet and nice service when we asked them to hire a hair dresses for us to come to our room. Overall a good stay, but absolutely not a 5-star hotel.

Reception staff are not efficient or and many do not understand English we were stopping there for wedding we were in hotel at 11:00 given all booking details could not find any thing so one reception staff passed on to others and even others took nearly hours to verify our booking and told us you will get room between 2:00 and 2:30 but we did not get allocated room until 3:30 and then could not find porter to bring bags to room not a good start
We were in room 318 stayed in hotels for 3 night from 5th September 2025 Bathroom have no door and only sliding door between toilet and shower sliding door could not shut fully on shower side so water will spill in bathroom and make floor wet toilet seat is not proper and it slide and loose
On one morning we needed water bottle restaurant staff charge us 7 Euro for it which is fine and other day we went there to get water bottle from restaurant and restaurant staff charge for same bottle 3.60 Euro ...
One off the night after pre wedding event we came back late in the night we could not get in to our room as our card could not open our room door they tried everything and make few phone calls eventually after over an hour they managed to open our room and issued us new card

Overall, a good and comfortable hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Rated four stars because I thought they were a bit miserly with the coffee, one little packet per room despite dual occupancy. WiFi connection is great, the place is clean, drinks prices are fair, the pool and gym area are excellent.

Only 1 or 2 Reception staff at one time over the 3 days. Average wait to deal with any issues 20 mins. The hotel was full and only 2 of 3 lifts working to cover 11 floors . Average wait 5-7 mins.
Multiple issues in room: TV had to be reconfigured, Telephone not working, bathroom face mirror had to be fixed, water leaking from bathroom tray.
Spa and swimming pool are very busy as external visitors in large numbers on hot days.
Breakfast was very good with big variety.

The hotel had a fantastic buffet breakfast and pool. Incredible spa. Great drinks from the bars. Close proximity to the Bom Jesus do mont which you can watch the sunset from the top. Stunning views from there. The area directly surrounding the hotel are roads/highways, McDonalds and a university so this wasn't very scenic. Luckily the historical area of braga was only a short 10 minute uber away.

Staff were super pleasant and professional and, bar a wonky wall mounted rack in the bathroom that meant we had to put our soap on the floor, the room was clean and well kept. Air conditioning temperature is locked at 19 degrees centigrade as the lowest temperature possible. Not ideal for everyone especially as hot as it was. Overall, totally enjoyed the stay and would chose the Melia again at the drop of a hat.

Disappointing Experience at a Supposed 5-Star

I usually don't leave negative feedback, but my experience here was disappointing. The staff were rude and unhelpful, often saying \"it is what it is.\" The room was okay, but cleanliness was terrible, with bugs in the shower area. Despite claiming to be sold out, there were plenty of rooms available online, and late check-out wasn't offered. This 5-star hotel felt more like a 1-star experience.

We have family in Braga and make it a point to stay at Melia when visiting. This is our first time back since COVID. It was just as we left it which is good and bad. It is starting to show its age and may be in need of a refresh. The mattresses are terribly hard. While the dinner and breakfast buffets are well priced, we remember the food tasting better.

Limited entertainment in room - the tv had no way of connecting to streaming apps and we couldn’t connect own entertainment devices in it. One of the robes in our room was dirty when we arrived. The cleaning lady came to our room and asked if we wanted cleaning, we said no and she just used the key card to enter the room anyway. The food selection at breakfast was very limited also.

I choose this place to relax in the hotel after working. They sell that they have a very fast internet connection. My work for two days were a disaster. I couldn’t even have a meeting without using my 4g phone connection. Their internet was a disgrace. I bought the full package for the meals. For a place like Braga where you can eat the best Portuguese food everywhere this hotel was very very weak, with a limit of 2 dishes and all very basic. The buffet was good in the first day, but in the dinner when things are finish they don’t bring more. I arrived once at 21h00 and basically they didn’t have more to replace the things. By the way. The 2nd day were the remains of the day before. as it wasn't to my liking at all I ended up not showing up for the last lunch I had already paid for.
Even at the last breakfast, the orange juice that many people want to drink had an absolutely strange taste and when I asked to change it they brought a new one that was exactly the same. All very strange for a 5 star hotel...
Finally. The Spa part of the hotel, since there weren't many people turned out to be the best part.

Excellent hotel for a weekend stay. I especially enjoyed the indoor pool, good customer service and the breakfast delivery to the room (due to Covid restrictions). As restaurants were closed, we ordered room service - good value & quality compared to many other hotels. Small suggestions for improvement: couldn’t connect to wifi, TV image kept ‘freezing’ from time to time, bathrobes were a little worn out. But overall, we had a nice stay & hope to return soon!

Good enough but not a 5-star hotel

It was a pleasant stay but for sure it’s not a 5-star hotel. Clearly they tick the boxes to qualify for a 5-star hotel. It was disappointing that we were not welcomed with at least two bottles of water in the room. Also the bed was good but not 5-star. Usually proper 5-star hotels care about all details.

In my opinion it’s a four star (not 5) hotel by international standards, or compared to other options in Porto. The dining options and facilities should be thought of in that context. With that being said, the executive suites are a decent value and provide a comfortable stay for business trips. Plenty of space to avoid feeling trapped in your room, which is important because the location is a bit far away from the old town center. No major complaints, but I think they should add another dining option.

Stayed here for a wedding, the hotel is lovely and service at the restaurant is top notch. Some small issues - booking a taxi via to hotel is a bit inefficient, and the body wash in my room was already used / had not been replaced. The pillows aren’t feather pillows which you’d expect from a 5* hotel. There was a lightbulb burned out above the bathroom sink. Otherwise everything was good.

The hotel is fantastic. Very modern and stylish. The room was huge, with a seating area. The bathroom is separated from the bedroom by a curtain which is unusual but wasn’t a problem, and there is a large bathtub and separate shower. We had the buffet dinner which was delicious and not overpriced. Highly recommended hotel.

Awesome hotel but hard beds

I love this hotel and have stayed many times. Why I like it the most is for the pools, gym and spa. When we come to Portugal my husband is from here and takes off a lot so I like to spend time in the spa and gym. Also a nice hike up the hill to Bom Jesus. Also a 25 minute walk to a great shopping mall. One block away to a restaurant street with very reasonable lunch deals. Only rates the room poorly due to the extremely hard, uncomfortable beds.

We have stayed at the Melia hotel in Rome, which was outstanding, and booked this hotel on the back of that experience. It is a good hotel but more like most hotels of its type than anything special. Location wasn't great, out of the main town centre, but the room was ok and clean and the general facilities, including the pool were good. Annoying little things like you are only entitled to one towel per day if you haven't booked the upgraded spa package and a formal rather than genuinely welcoming reception check in. Lots of families with kids which made the pool very full and very noisy.

Unexpected for Melia\"s reputation

Hotel was clean but staff need some retraining or NEW staff in general. The front desk did not explain the entry card function besides opening the door..ie., also is used to make all the lights work,etc..ect.. Not everyone knows that function so its their job (I think) to explain everything about the room. Parking was available for a fee, yet we were never told about that parking area underground. Instead, we were told to park out back!! guess we weren't upscale enough to be offered such luxury.
Then there was the bartenders: we went to the bar for a drink or 2 but after being serviced our 1st drink very professionally might I add, we were then completely ignored!! 3 bartenders in front of us, never made eye contact or spoke to us. My boyfriend had finished his beer and continued waiting for another yet we were ghosts in their presence. Instead they kept talking and laughing w/ each other.. after 10min of waiting around we left.

A impressive experience while staying in Braga.

It is a very comfortable place. I think the space is big enough and the bed is so wonderful for sleep and thinking. The luxurious decoration is worthy of experiencing while staying in Braga.

1st room smelled like smoke. Second room no airconditioner, third room got upgraded it was fine. Although found a whole in the sheets :/ the pool bar was understaffed, waited for drinks for a while. Send experience at a Melia and was not good. If i had a choice i would have not stayed there this time but was the best hotel in the area.

The hotel was very modern and the rooms were well equipped. Buffet style evening meal was OK although food could have been warmer. Very disappointed that the hotel wanted to charge nearly 10 euros to use the swimming pool. Thought this was unusual for a Melia hotel and would not return here for that reason.

Nice friendly hotel with a great spa. The underground car park (costing 6 euro a night) was great and very secure..you can park outside as well, which is free.

For those with heavy luggage the lifts go straight from the underground car park to your room floor level which was also very handy.

Quite a way out from Centre but close to Bom Jesus. Bus 43 gets you from station to outside hotel (and back into Centre). Very large hotel with huge open plan room. Not sure about bath only being seperated by curtain from bed or screen for toilet and shower. Not very private in that respect. Half board is great value, buffet style dinner was superb as well as breakfast - first class!

I truly don't understand why this hotel doesn't have a perfect rating. The entire building is relatively new, the bedrooms are modern and spacious. My husband and I stayed at 8 hotels (all in different cities) during our trip to Portugal and this one was by far the best hotel we stayed at. I will definitely be recommending it to others travelling to Braga.

The receptionist was delightful and efficient. The public areas beautifully designed. Our room most comfortable. Huge bath. Great shower. Appliances of the very best quality. The restaurant on that night offered a buffet dinner. The food was fantastic. As was the breakfast buffet, quite stunning.
