Nuno, the Manager, was well versed in English, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area. He provided us good guidance to explore the hotspots in the area. I would not recommend driving through this area unless you are willing to accept a few surprises with the GPS and locating the various attractions, including your hotel! I would recommend walking within a 10 minute radius of this hotel to find and explore various restaurant choices for food. Don’t settle for the first one you see!There’s a beautiful 19th century castle within 15 minute driving range of this hotel. Highly recommend a visit quite a bit of interesting short hikes and springs and waterfalls around the palace. However, I wouldn’t recommend staying at the Palace hotel. Food there is pricey. And it is very secluded. Just get a couple of drinks or a sandwich at the palace hotel, which will allow me an opportunity to take some pictures of this architectural marvel! Highly recommend visiting the natural holy water, spring! Quite unique, and all of our travels are around the world!

OK for the price

Bed was quite old and uncomfortable. Wifi didn't really work and heater made loud cracking noise all night. The place is old and charming, however i wouldn't stay here again

Great location overlooking the town of Luso

If you're looking for luxury, you won't find it here. This is an old hotel with its own unique character. The beds are hard and the hotel could do with some upgrading, but otherwise it's reasonably comfortable. Towels in the bathroom were paper thin. I found the person at reception somewhat abrupt when we checked in, but the staff in the dining room were very pleasant and accommodating. The grounds are lovely with a nice quiet pool area to relax in.

Overall had a nice hotel stay, great for some fresh air and peace and quiet. Very clean. Free parking. No AC or fan though it was cool enough. Beautiful view of the town. Did not find the bed/pillows very comfortable.

The staff couldn't speak much English but did their best to communicate with us. So nice to be able to walk to shops and restaurants.

Lovely big pinkish red building overlooking very pretty small resort town, friendly staff, nice rooms, excellent modern bathrooms with a fantastic shower/bath, comfortable, quiet. Lovely local walks in forest. Flowers everywhere. Quiet town famous for its spring waters. Good local restaurant.

Lovely, quaint, comfortable hotel

Enjoyed my stay at Alegre. Old fashioned but quaint, clean and comfortable hotel. Only down side didn't have a bath which my receipt said I would have, when arriving back to hotel late at night felt like was keeping owners up to let us in and pool bar was closed so no hot or cold drinks available at all during the day. Would recommend if visiting the area.Staff polite and friendly.

Alegre was fine

Staff was very helpful. They spoke some English which was appreciated by us in planning our stay's activities and dining. Location in town was central with ample parking. Hotel was an old mansion that has been renovated but still retained much of the original grandeur. Wifi was appreciated but not sure if an overhead fan would be able to be added. The room was warm. They could not help the neighbor's all night barking dog. The breakfast was filling. There is no elevator. If we are ever in Luso again we would stay.

Very good hotel. The hotel is an old and big house. It seems to be a palace, You feel to be transporte to the past. The maintanance is good and the host is very attention with us. You need a car to stay there, but its worth. Located in a small city Meadalhada near from Coimbra ( aorund 20min.) and Porto (around 50min.). Breakfast simple, but has everything you need. Very good.

Beautiful hotel in picturesque surroundings- Ask Nuno ( hotel owner) for recommendation of places to see and eat.Although some updating would be good it does not take away from our visit in the slightest. If there is one place we would stay again- its here! Also nice pool- shame we didnt have time to enjoy...

Perfect for us

we were very unsure as we had never been to Portugal as a family and had to go this particular area because of the football championships being held there. I found this hotel on the internet and worked out that it was probaqbly in the middle of where we needed to be. It was perfect !!! The location was beautiful, the hotel was very traditional, extremely clean, had a lovely pool and was extremely relaxing. The surrounding village was beautiful, the people in the cafes were very friendly and hardwaorking and tried very hard with speaking English. We had a lovely time there and my husband and I will definitely be looking to go back. The train links to Porto airport were very good and very very cheap. Thoroughly recommended - probably not for a family with small children.

部屋も清潔で、喧騒がなく、水と空気が良くて気持ちよかった。LisbonよりもLusoの方がまったり出来て好きです。
狭く曲がりくねった道が多いこと、急斜面が多いこと、道にゴミがないこと、伝統的な家が多いこと、食べ物等、私の出身である日本の地方都市に似ているなと思った。
Lusoでは小鳥の囀りで目が覚め、夕暮れに教会の鐘が1時間か30分おきくらいに鳴る。日本の地方では、教会の鐘が、お寺の鐘か小学校のチャイムに置き換わるくらいで、やはり似ているな、と。

Schönes Hotel, in einer alten voilla schön an einem Berg gelegen.
Zum Hochfahren sollte man gut motorisiert sein da die Straßen sehr steil sind.
Toller Pool im Garten.

Frühstück eher nicht so toll.
Speiseauswahl begrenzt.

Sehr stilvolles und im klassischen Rahmen geführtes Hotel. Dennoch hatte unser Zimmer ein tolles, modernes Bad.
Geradezu eine Perle ist der in einem Garten gelegene Poolbereich mit ebenfalls sehr stilvoller Bar (tolle Preise: Caipirinha € 3,50!).
Und morgens die Aussicht von der grün überwachsenen Frühstücksterrasse auf den Ort hat etwas von einem klassischen Gemälde.

Very quaint family run historic hotel, situated in the center of town, walking distance to restaurants and cafes. Close to Palácio de Bussaco. Very relaxed atmosphere, no noise through the corridors at night. Good breakfast. The pillows could have been better but otherwise we would stay again. Very reasonable rates.

Hotel is verouderd. Kamer beetje muf en oude bedden, hard matras en hard kussen. Toch hebben we ons prima vermaakt in Luso. Heel relaxed plaatsje. Wandeling naar kasteel top. 2 goede restaurants. Zwembad bij hotel wel goed.

Perfect servis during check-in, very helpful young guy who explained us everything, it seemed that he likes to communicate with people. We get instructions where to go for restaurant, bar, what to see, detailed explanation for trips and tours around. We also agreed on early check-out without any problems - parking lot gate is locked over-night.
In room there were enough toilet things, towels, etc. Rooms including bathroom were clean. Hotel equipment is fine, we used to say that we \"live in the castle\".

Удачное местоположение. Рядом чудесный лес. Недалёко до дворца-отеля Буссако( на машине). Жалко, что останавливались на одну ночь.хорошо использовать этот отель как место дислокации для осмотра окрестности и близлишайших достопримечательностей.

A nossa estadia foi fantástica. Todo o ambiente romântico da casa faz-nos transportar até ao século XIX. Todos os pormenores estão lá.
