It is an old hotel with very, very small rooms but it is adequate for a 1 night stay. The bathroom is also small but clean and the shower was good. There is a roof top bar area and also a bar area inside where an adequate breakfast is served.

This was a diamond in the rough. The staff was courteous, the room clean and well located. To be fair, Coimbra was not at its best due to the weather pummeling it in early Feb, 2026 but the welcome received at the Oslo was outstanding. The food was good and I felt at home for the time I spent there.

Hi, enjoyed our visit at hotel Oslo. The staff was very helpful. Breakfast was excellent. And we especially enjoyed the fact that in the evening there were so many restaurants close by with excellent food. We enjoyed the Italian restaurant and the policeman helped us find a very good Portuguese restaurant. We did take a Uber up to the university for a tour because it was a steep uphill climb and we are getting older. I suggest that the city market would be fun to visit if you walk back from the university towards the hotel.

Well the room was very clean along with the hotel in general. Price was very reasonable and the location is great, cross the street and you are in the historic centre.

Add to this, an included breakfast which is simply great and always stocked. Add a roof top bar which has an unrivalled view of the historic town of Coimbra. Ten there is the included indoor parking. Just across the street. Once caveat regarding the parking, it is tight and if you are arriving in a full sized SUV it is likely to be tight. We parked a small Nissan Juke and it was an adventure driving in an out and parking. Europeans will be fine but for North Americans, make sure your rental is small :)

But without doubt we would return to the Oslo without any doubt!

Breakfast was excellent! Exceptional staff! Small pastry shop across the street had coffee available in the wee hours. A lot of small shops in the area were closed, so not a lot of tourist activity. Good walking shoes are a must for anywhere in Portugal!

My husband and I were touring around Portugal for 9 days so we had many hotel bookings. When we got to Coimbra I kept in mind some of the less than desirable reviews on this hotel. Well being from the NY/NJ area we are use to being inconvenienced. There was nothing inconvenient about this hotel. You can pull up in front, unload and there is a gratis parking garage right across the street. The hotel has been renovated and we upgraded our room to a room with a balcony for 35 euro. The rooms are clean, the balcony and rooftop views were great. It's an older city so buildings are older in appearance. This hotel is a fine place to stay when traveling through. The breakfast was also very nice.

Amazing staff could not get any better in frienliness,helpfilness and efficiency. Loved the roof top deck. Location is central at first it feels a bit grity8 but across street is a great b akery, a few feet away is a Farmacia, abit further ,very good self service laundry an 1 block away is the post office . Also 1/2 block great restsurant and enterance to the fun area with plazas shops and restsurant....you can walk up hill to University. Be sure to see the Fado performance. Breakfast is a small buffet with obligatory scrambled eggs,bacon and rolls. Good hot chocolate out of machine that does coffee also. The best part is the STAFF!. Rooms clean and functional, free parking was appreciated.

When I saw it I got scared because it looked sketchy from the outside, however we felt secure once we entered. We were greeted by very nice front desk employees. They even offered an upgrade which we didn’t get because we stayed for only one night. Room was comfortable and enough space for two people with two medium size luggage, a carry on plus travel bags.
Breakfast was very good too and the hotel is very well located. Walking distance to main attractions.

The hotel was very clean. It is a few feet away from the free shuttle bus to and from the train station , Coimbra-1. We were pleasantly surprised to see the hotel right there when we exited the bus. We took the train to arrive and to depart and the shuttle makes it very easy, it has frequent trips. We enjoyed walking around, the hotel has an excellent location. Solar do Bacalhau is an excellent restaurant, right at the corner, it was one of our best dinners in Portugal. Fangas Maior is also highly recommended. We enjoyed a Fado show one evening and it was different from the Fado show/dinner we had in Lisbon. The university is wonderful, the tour needs to be booked ahead of time. The library is just unbelievable.

So disappointed in our stay at Hotel Oslo. We booked our room and paid extra specifically based on the photos of the room listed on Expedia, which included a decent-sized balcony where two people could sit and enjoy a bottle of wine while looking out at the city. As we were traveling with our 4 year old through Portugal, my husband had been very much looking forward to a 'date night' out on the balcony after she went to sleep.

To our surprise, the room we received offered nothing of the sort. Instead it was about a 2 foot wide balcony, with barely enough room for one person to sit and no table. Had I known this would be the reality, we would have booked elsewhere.

When we spoke to the front desk, we were only told 'sorry.' I feel like we were lied to - given a completely different room than what we paid for. No other offers or concessions were offered. It ruined our night.

To offer a fair review, otherwise, the hotel is fine. it's a bit dated but the breakfast on offer was lovely, with lots of selection, and the free parking included was really appreciated.

Parking to even get there was horrendous, as there were no spots in the front of the hotel as described. I eventually was directed to a parking garage in the next block and had to park 4 floors down. Very tight quarters. The mattress was hard and uncomfortable, and our room had an indescribable odor. I would never stay here again.

Hotel Oslo offers clean rooms with comfortable beds and a great breakfast served on the top floor, featuring an amazing view of the city. However, the hotel’s maintenance could use some improvement — the shower was leaking, and the elevator floor could use a touch-up.

The average nightly rate also seems about 20–30% higher than similar hotels in the area. Overall, it was a pleasant stay with an excellent location and breakfast, but a bit of maintenance and pricing adjustment would make it even better.

We found the hotel to be in walking distance to the old town and all the historic sites- however the hotel is on a Main Street that is rather funky and run down. The staff were great and there is a nice bar that offers snacks in the hotel. They also provided free parking in a garage across the street. Breakfast buffet was included, so that was good. Our room and bathroom were just OK - We had a balcony overlooking the old city. It rained most of the time we were there, which affected the use of the balcony! Overall, Coimbra is very historic and interesting, but I would recommend a day trip instead of an overnight stay.

Hotel Oslo is close to the University, restaurants, shopping. Rooms are very clean, towels, shampoo, body wash (used my own), hand soap, bathroom paper. Felt safe in the area,1 issue was parking. Spots are really tight & exiting from the underground parking is a bit dangerous. Nobody from the facility available to assist since it's uphill onto a main street, people crossing in front. 2nd that not all rooms have mini fridges, nor do they offer complementary water bottles. They give you mini paper cups to get water from the lobby water dispenser. One night coming in trying to get a cup from some a young man at the front desk was like I was asking for million $$, lol. From that moment, I just purchased water bottles to keep in my room. The rest of the staff we delt with was nice & helpful. Breakfast is the same every day, don't expect hot coffee, it's warm, you have to get from a machine. You have to remember that you can't expect to what your used to at home. I would recommend this hotel and would stay again with upgrade to a fridge & iron in our room.

The staff is excellent. They really go above and beyond to take care of you. The property is nice and the roof top terrace is phenomenal. The only complaint is the bed. It was so hard that I had to call housekeeping for a mattress pad. They responded quickly by providing a softer quilt to help cushion the bed and make it bearable.

A convenient place to stay in Coimbra

Our room was small, but that was not a problem with the hotel's rooftop bar. It was FABULOUS, with a completely unobstructed view of Coimbra, which was stunning at night.
The room was immaculate, and the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. Parking was an easy walk down the street.
