While the shower pressure was great and the bed comfy, as well as a good central location, The Coimbra location rooms/bathroom looks NOTHING like the pictures. Not updated. Dark hallways and rooms. Was highly disappointed. No refunds so stayed. My next visit wil definitely be at another hotel.

Dated,worn down, parking difficult spaces to navigate. Breakfast needs someone who knows food and has an understanding of preparation.
Rooms were generally clean and the staff were accommodating so much so that I regret a poor review.
The best experience of the hotel was sharing with other patrons our wonder of the Stay.

The hotel room was dirty and in disrepair. The closet door didn’t close and had a large hole in it. The bathroom tile around tub area had dark mildew on grout joints. The floating floor joints at the entrance to room were separating and dirty. The bathroom had old fixtures with a cracked pedestal sink. The room had a small tv and a white table with a plastic chair. Underneath the table was a small refrigerator unplugged from the wall, unaware if it worked. I would not recommend this hotel and have no intentions of staying there again.

For the money, it was a great hotel. Clean room, easy walk to Old Town. There were tons of restaurants to choose from in the old town. Free Breakfast until Noon! Not a fancy place, but the bed, room, and AC were all excellent. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Most comfortable stay we had in Portugal thus far. I had been digital nomading all over Portugal for a couple weeks now. I had been in many hostels and motel. But this is the first time I had stayed in a hotel as comfortable as this. This has all American amenities one would expect in a hotel like shampoo, towels, air condition, good comfortable bedding, and spacious room. I cleaned well, I slept undisturbed for 10 hours for the first time in Portugal. Best place in Lisbon and Coimbra

I found the bed to be a bit too soft but thankfully, housekeeping staff offered to remove the mattress topper (?) and it was perfect. The bedding, room, AC and shower were fine, the breakfast was very good, and overall I’d say it was pretty good value for the money.

The room was a bit dated, and some surfaces could use a refresh, but the bed and shower were great. There's an elevator and balcony (off my single room), and the free breakfast was nice. I particularly liked that breakfast was available from 6:30 to noon. All things considered, this was great value for the money, and I would definitely stay again.

Nice well located hotel with very nice and helpful staff. Room was pleasant. Unfortunately I had to pay €18 for the parking place. Not only that the ramp to the parking place was tight, narrow and steep. It was a challenge to drive down without hitting anything and even more of a challenge to drive up.

The bathroom was dated, unkept, and had mould on the tiles/walls. The bathtub was starting to rust, the sink was cracked and had been poorly installed (water going down the drain made a lot more noise than usual). We had to buy a cleaning spray and clean the bathtub ourselves in order to take a shower. The window in the room is single glazed, so the noise isolation from the outside was quite poor. The walls in the room had many dirty marks. There was only 1 pillow per bed. This is not a 4 star hotel.

Mediocre property that is poorly maintained and managed. My room is missing a toiletry shelf and the bathroom toilet was partly under the sink. They offered to switch me to another room 2 days after checkin and those rooms were also missing toiletry shelves. Room service often neglects to replace soap and cups and tea for the tea machine.. One front desk older more senior lady is short tempered and lacks attitude. I will not stay there again if I have a choice

The hotel was run down and I was disappointed with the state of the room. There is a lack of lighting in the room. The bathroom lacked anywhere to put your things. I tried to order some food but most options were unavailable. The area around the hotel was uninviting but quiet. There is a supermarket very close by. It is only a short walk to the old town area.

The turn off for me was the mold around the bathtub. Sorry... but that's a no/no. I have travelled to Spain, in the same price range and even a bit lower and the beauty, the cleanliness, and the attention to details of the hotels was outstanding compared to the one in Coimbra. Another issue was having two tubes of shower gel available but zero shampoo. Anyway, convenient as location, but they need to improve their offering.

Old bathroom situation such as totally unprivate sound proof, there is no lock on the bathroom door, old tub which has very rounded corners on the bottom so it is very slippery with soap and dangerous, towel hangers not even so the towel can be slid down, small wall shelf above the sink is left broken so there is almost no flat surface to place any grooming items at all, shower curtain is extremely long hanging deep into the bath tub that is a little safety hazard to step on and the bottom of curtain corners are blackish with probably molds, and many corners of bathroom tiles have blackish mold appearance showing little vent ability of the bathroom. The closet is not so easy to use because of the location of the hanger bar which is too close to the closet ceiling so that the regular hangers have a little problem to hang. The room is not so user friendly to unless it is used by a single person or with only just close family member. The towels were worn out condition with some with tears. We stayed 3 people in a room. The room was spacious. Air conditioning generated clicking sound during operation stoplessly. No window opening ability so that we could not vent the room air. Maybe we got a worse room than others. The room appered to be the old apartment building renovated to be hotel but limited renovation. Coimbra is an old city, so this may be standard, not sure. We felt that BF was pricy for the quality of food.

Nice hotel in convenient area for walking and proximity to train station. Breakfast was good, fresh fruit every morning and decent (if limited) options. Staff was very friendly and housekeeping was excellent. A few small things with condition of room, soap tray, TP holder, TV sound, but nothing earthshaking. Biggest issue for us was that it was difficult to find based on address given, but we finally muddled our way through. Would stay again.

Room was good. It was spacious, with very comfortable beds. A little bit old, but it was clean overall.
Good breakfast for the price you pay (8.50 Euros per person. I know my daughter which is 9 years-old does not paid for it).
Issue I had was with parking: hotel offers a paid parking, but when I was leaving it on the morning of my check-out, I had to wait approximately 15 min for the laundry company van used by the hotel to free up the parking gate, as there was only one entrance/exit to the parking lot.

There was no AC and it was unsafe to leave the doors open. There was no way to get someone to repair it as it was the weekend. The toilet also broke during our stay and the shower had some mold.

The location was good and staff was lovely, but we had to fight for some compensation in the form of access to the breakfast buffet (without paying 13 euros). I expected more given the price and the star-rating.

Location is great - short walks from the train station and city attractions, and quieter than the very center. Soundproofing is good - due to the pseudo balcony design there was no noise from the street at all. Being on the 4th floor helped too. Everything worked fine: small fridge and electric tea pot. AC was quiet and efficient. Very comfortable beds, but I didn’t care for the pillows - too firm and thick. The room was large, and I wish there were a couple more small furniture pieces for the luggage, or more shelves and hangers in the wardrobe. A towel bar was loose on the wall, a table lamp wasn’t fully intact. However, these minor inconveniences aside - the hotel is a very good value for the money, if you don’t care about luxury. Staff were friendly and always available for questions. I would stay again for sure.

Hotel is walking distance to train station. Even # rooms face the street and most seem to have balconies. Odd # rooms face the neighboring buildings so may be quiter.
Somewhat sketcy area althiugh a few blocks in most directions leads to interesting shops, restaurants as well as historical sights. Would not recommend to families but great for the budget conscious travelers.

Better than most in Portugal, believe me!

This is one of the better hotels I have stayed at in Portugal. This one is clean and the staff are helpful. There was some noise as the place was being renovated while I was there, but it was to upgrade the rooms. I have since stayed at other hotels in Portugal and now I realize how good this place was in comparison.

Under renovation - stay away!

This hotel is under total renovation and is a complete mess! Dust everywhere, elevators not working, etc. The facade of the hotel is completely covered in scaffolding and made the place difficult to even find - I drove right past it the first time. I would recommend anyone to stay away until they finish renovating!!!

I was given a room on level 5 which had a large balcony, though the balcony was a bit dirty. Only level 5 rooms have balconies. The room itself was a tad small but the bathroom was a reasonable size and had a bath tub. The bed was comfortable. Neither of the remotes worked for the AC or TV. Good central location close to rail station Coimbra A and bus station. A taxi ride from Coimbra B rail station.

Don't forget to pay for your oarking!

It was horrible never again. According to Hotels.com they had parking which was the whole reason why I booked them. As it turns out the parking is not theirs and I had to pay €7 in order to leave.

OK hotel with issues

Room has been refurbished and was very nice but zero soundproofing. Lovely balcony had no seating. Entry to lobby is bad. Torn carpet needs to be replaced. Breakfast excellent. proximity to downtown is great. Just a short walk but having a group of homeless in the parking spaces alongside the entry drags the appearance down. Overall this is good value for money but need to overlook the shortcomings.

Security concern!!!!!

The hotel has been neglected, the room where I stayed was leaking from the toilet roof (room 415, 4th floor)! I don't know how a hotel have license to operate, when it is leaking whater near with electrecity... this is at least a safety concern! They have a very good team and a good service, but they are missing the point ... If they are in the hotel industry they should provide the basic ... for your security don't book the hotel!
