lovely hotel, great spa facilities & lovely meal. staff all fab . nly issue was the security bold on the room jammed into place when we were int he spa so we couldnt get back into our room and they had to call maintenance. the lady on reception said it happens often. we were in a hurry so it was not great and we began to panic about the time. these should be removed and replaced with ones that cant lock when you leave the room. very scary if you left a young child in there and popped out for 1 minute or had a train to catch etc. aoart from that it was brtilliant - thank you

I was surprised that the new Travelodge in AbbeyWood bettered room in some ways with cushions for the room chairs and a coffee machine etc

Very disappointed with the spa. It was very rundown outside and dirty I didn’t use the jacuzzi as it didn’t look clean.

Lovely views from the reception area but we really froze at the wedding we attended at your hotel After 3 hours of thinking it would warm up we asked if the heating could be turned up It never got any warmer except under one area near the dance floor. I had to wear a coat for some of the evening and my husband went back to the room to put a T-shirt under his shirt and suit. Couldn’t remove his jkt all evening.

Also I only got 4 canapés even though I tried desperately to have a few more This is not the standards we would expect from Hilton as have stayed with you from Niagara to London and they’re normally amazing

Arrived 6.30ish, got told the pool was closed to kids until 10.15 am, website says 10pm no mention of no kids!
Ruined our plan, I picked the hotel because of the pool, half term too! Family friendly advertising etc, kids very disappointed.
We ordered room service, menus are basic with poor description, we ordered sides to go with, mains arrived with sides! Costing us unnecessary extra, also meals arrived with out the condiments ordered so the guy went back and got some for us, for me to realise we had no cutlery! On his return he apologized and again went back for the cutlery. Some time later I was able to eat, salt pot was empty! Really!
We had ordered 2 steaks, one was lovely the other tough as old boots! Definitely wasn't a fillet!

At the time of writing this I've also been over charged at 1.45 in the morning for something, I showed reception but the had no idea, showing still as pending on my account, will email as requested.

I paid for my mum and partner after booking for myself and they had been given disabled bathroom the view then booked themselves a massage next day to turn up and find out its cancelled due to bereavement they got offered anither day but unfortunatley they would not be able to make it as it was a treat from me

The room was warm, spacious, the beds were comfortable. The bathroom didn’t have a bath, which my wife was disappointed about. But we enjoyed the shower. There was plenty of pressure and hot water was in abundance. A few cobwebs around the room, but could only see them in low light, the bathroom sink drained very slowly and there was no toilet brush.
The staff were friendly and helpful, the facilities were brilliant.
The breakfast was lovely, though slightly overpriced.
We had a wonderful relaxing weekend.
And hope to return one day

The staff are so nice at the Doubletree Cadbury whereas the actual hotel rooms are a bit small and tired. It’s good value for money though and we enjoyed using the pool.

Some of the staff were very poor and argumentative. We could hear loud music in our room at 6am and when we told the night receptionist, his response was what music? To which we pointed out that music (clearly audible from the restaurant/bar area that wasn’t even due to open for another hour!). Our room was direct above it.
We were then told it wasn’t excessive but it woke us so obviously was!
When I said he needed to learn customer service he replied with I need to learn not to be rude!!!
Definitely not what the customer expects from a “bell hop”
Also the a/c heater would either blast out either hot or cold and not a constant temperature.
Other staff were very helpful and seemed embarrassed at what had happened and went out of their way to accommodate us

Room was for a disabled person, therefore the bathroom was a wet room. There was no light over the mirror to enable makeup and hair before the evening function, in the bathroom or bedroom. TV wouldn’t work so had to ring down to reception to get someone to sort it out. Couldn’t get into the breakfast room so had to eat our breakfast out in the bar which wasn’t ideal. Whole property is very user unfriendly with having to go up and down stairs or use the lift every time you wanted to go anywhere.

We didn't sleep well as there were a lot of noises (fan switching on and off constantly until turned off, aeroplanes from 5am) and the bed was incredibly hard, which is a shame because the pillows were good and the room decor/layout was pleasing. The breakfast buffet was definitely one of the better I've had in my life so that rescued the score from being subpar.

Room was lovely and the staff super attentive on check in even though there was a lost booking between them and Expedia. Marco Pierre White staff were lovely and sang happy birthday for our friend with a brownie and cake which was a nice touch. The spa pool area has no indoor relaxation beds which was a shame but the treatment with Becky made up for it-fab massage! Staff in the Spa and lounge there equally lovely. Only a couple of things...corridors in the hotel smelt a bit fousty and better comms between Expedia and the hotel would have saved time on check in. We would come back to stay again.Thanks!

I stayed for one night and overall found the experience average, falling short of the 4-star Hilton standard I expected.
On the positive side, the staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and the hotel was generally clean. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. The spa and pool facilities were a nice addition, with well-kept changing rooms.
That said, there were several drawbacks. The hotel is showing its age, taps, units and fittings were stained, damaged, or not cleaned. Getting to the rooms was awkward, requiring you to go up a floor and then back down again, which felt odd/poor layout. The pool itself needs renovating, as tiles and walls are worn, and it felt overcrowded with members lane swimming alongside public swimming; a rotation system might make it more enjoyable for hotel guests.
Noise was another issue. I could hear guests from nearby rooms, and even with windows closed, shouting children from a wedding party at 10:30pm were disruptive. The bed wasn’t comfortable, noisy and uncomfortable pillows, which sadly left both me and my partner with sore backs by morning.
Check-in was also poor, more like an all-inclusive resort queue, with about 10 people waiting and no real welcome or information about hotel bars, evening food, or family-friendly options.
Overall, while the breakfast, rooms to a good decor standard and staff were great, the noise levels, tired facilities, and uncomfortable sleep meant the stay did not justify the price.

The aircon was not working however we was not informed of this upon arrival, when we discovered this when we entered our room we rang reception to which their dismissive attitude and unhelpfulness on the situation only fuelled frustrations.

We was staying in a family room, 2 adults and 2children, we was offered single rooms as an alternative on other fooors which was not suitable at the time.

We asked for a fan however this did not aid much to the room temperature. We stayed out all day and returned early evening to sleep to make our stay bearable.

The second night we had drinks in our room and a letter from management recognising the lack of aircon and an apology for this, an offer of soft cold drinks was supplied, however small the gesture did. Not remedy the fact that stay was uncomfortable.

The windows have limited opening so a breeze was minimal, heat out side was 25/26 degrees. The room get very hot and humid.

We should of been I forme did this at the point of checking in as it was most likely we would have explored alternative accommodations

The breakfast room was dirty, the shutter blinds are full of dust.. we had to ask for items to be replenished and it just felt there was a lack of up keep.

Having stayed in a few Hilton’s this one by far I would not be returning to any time soon.

Also, although I totally agree with the ‘light touch’ room cleaning (not changing towels, sheets or cleaning every day), it would be nice if the cups were changed.

Cant understand why a guest who is paying to stay the night in the hotel after a wedding all day has to pay £10 to park overnight but guests at wedding who have parked all day and have not got a room booked dont have to pay nothing surely if you have booked and paid for a room parking should be free it feels like its another cost that dosent need to be charged

Favourite short break of the year

One of my favourite short breaks days ever. A beautiful location with fantastic facilities you must visit the restaurant because the steak is to absolutely die for. Very close to Chedder gorge, not too far from Bath or Bristol. The scenery was so pretty. Plenty of parking. Spa facilities were absolutely excellent. The staff are very accommodating friendly and helpful. We had a last minute change of circumstances which meant that our daughter had to come with us so they supplied a rollaway bed at no extra cost our daughter even ate for free. We really couldn’t have asked for more oh and cookies upon arrival, I’m sorry what ! Great touch.

We were very disappointed with the allocation of the room that despite sone wonderful views from hotel, we were put in a room where the view was a walk & bushes. The hotel sits on a cliff so floor 2 is ground floor and our room was 2 floors into basement.

The manager and staff told us that there were no other rooms available, however on us kicking up a fuss they found us a room one floor up with view of car park.

This is one hotel which I believe over promises and under delivers. Ask specifically about scenic rooms otherwise you will be lumbered with a room at the back.

Useless Staff, don’t expect much sympathy or support from them.

The bed was rock hard, to the point I would wake up with pressure point pain on hip and shoulder
The safe didn’t work - so I had to bring our valuables with us. Front desk said maintenance was “off for the weekend”
The faucet in the sink was also broken and kept turning off
The AC was set to 20 Celsius and still it wasn’t cooling
We weren’t able to use our free drinks coupons
Dinner be night was absolutely diabolical
The meat was so dry it was difficult to swallow
We suspect it was the pork loin left over from Sunday lunch roast
A lot of service staff, but only a few were efficient and knew how to serve
The pool area was over crowded - as locals buy memberships to the gym which gives them access to the pool
Their were zero lounge chairs, the pool was hot and crowded
Outside on the terrace the wasps were out of control, which made it impossible to sit out there
The fountain area had some canvas chairs but zero shade or umbrellas - This was an absolute wasted space and a shame as it was tranquil - aside from the rowdy crowd of parties that left all of their own drinks and food on the tables
After 2 hours still no one came to clean it
The bar area was freezing to the point of shivering uncomfortably
It has so much potential and so little to offer at the moment

Formal Complaint Regarding Unfulfilled Booking and Poor Customer Experience – 5th July 2025

I am writing to formally express my profound disappointment and dissatisfaction following our recent experience at your hotel, Cadbury House, on Saturday 5th July 2025.

Prior to our arrival, we contacted the hotel on multiple occasions to confirm our booking and check-in arrangements. Just an hour before our arrival on 5th July, a member of your staff reassured us that we could check in at any time before 12 midnight and that both rooms were fully reserved and ready for us. We had also contacted the hotel on the 4th July, and were once again assured that everything was in order.

However, upon our arrival at approximately 8pm, we were informed that the rooms were not available. This was not only shocking but deeply upsetting, especially as we had brought our young children for a much-needed short break after their school examinations. We were all tired and looking forward to a relaxing and enjoyable experience, only to be met with confusion and disappointment.

The acting manager, who was standing in due to the absence of the general manager, apologised for the situation and acknowledged the error.

This hotel could be fabulous but lack of attention to detail is rife. The first room I was given was a depressingly dark, I was moved to a brighter room however other guests walked in on me half-dressed during my stay. The room service was so bland, there was mould in the shower, they had no shower caps, some of the staff were so unhelpful, the club amenities stank. The grounds are very pretty and the drive up to the hotel is impressive. But then just little things really let it down. I opened the window and it was full of 100’s of dead bugs. When I tried calling for room service, it took over 10-15mins to get a hold of someone, the phone just rings out. The care and detail is just not there. A few minor changes could take this place from ‘fine’ to great. Would not stay there again. Paris on the front desk was great… very helpful.

Check in took an age as only one person working on reception, the second terminal was broken. One of three rooms were ready for 4pm.

Went to get food at 4:30pm, told not serving until 5:30pm in the restaurant. Advised to go to the Club for food as only place serving, walked over to the club only to find four members of staff stood talking, they looked at us a few times before asking what we wanted. Stated a table for three only to be told food had stopped serving and should go back to the place that had sent us over.

Waited until the restaurant was open, stood at the \"wait to be seated\" sign for around 5 minutes until someone came over to ask what we wanted. in that period 8 or 9 staff members just walked straight past without acknowledgement - a true case of \"not my job mate\".

Food at the MPW was ok; our first drinks order taken only to be told that all three drinks were out of stock.
Ordered some of drinks only to be told two of those were also out of stock so stuck to water.

Found a large piece of plastic packaging in the cabbage side - told the waiter, who said sorry and walked off, came back said the chef was sorry. Nothing more mentioned about it.

The hallways smell, progressively worse in the stairwells.

The sofa bed in one room resembled an extra out of CSI - the amount of stains and \"crustiness\" was disgusting. Didn't even put my bag on the thing!

The noisiest hotel ever. Left one day early.

checkin staff was not welcoming was not in official work attire, jumper and jeans no shirt tie or jacket. room smelled of sick, spider in bed when covers turned back, linen dirty remote not working and when reported back to reception for something to be done was told straight away I cannot have a another room. The next day found that the Iron board was broken so had to get that changed so not a great experience at all.

Very bad management

We have a had several issues the last few times we have stayed inc no flushing toilet of which we’re given a bucket to flush ourselves, we also had no internet or tv what so ever on one stay, we have tried to address this with the manager but been completely ignored by the Eastern European manager of which I forget his name, such a shame we have been ignored time after time with promise of compensation after spending £130-180 per stay at this hotel over many years, the manager has certainly let his side down with his ignorance which is a shame as the restaurant and reception staff are always amazing, welcoming and friendly, someone in his position should not just be paying lip service to customers that have been staying there for 11+ years and act on customers email complaints, we will reluctantly stay there again as I love the gym and spa before we head away on holiday as it is ideally located, hopefully a different manager when we have issues that may actually rectify rather than ignore

An older property, could benefit from netting to add privacy for rooms. Shame the pool couldn’t be accessed from the hotel without walking outside as this prevents walking in your dressing down. Sadly our check in experience felt somewhat underwhelming compared to the member of staff in front of us who was offered complimentary upgrade and didn’t have to ask for their cookies. Was advised two restaurants were open but didn’t have children’s menu for the one at the spa. Went to eat there and then advised they were not open. Not ideal stop if you have mobility issues.

Overpriced and not worth it

Terrible hotel, any chance to charge they do, parking, internet access, which doesn’t work, rooms miles from reception, which stink of cooking smells, incorrect items being served in the bar, management obviously care more about money than customers, overpriced and best avoided.

Nice grounds hotel dated

Didn’t feel what we stayed in was a family room and like past reviews there was no bedding for the kids bed we only stayed one night and wouldn’t want to stay longer in that room but over all it was ok considering you are in the middle of no where why charge for parking but spa was very nice
