Very comfortable hotel with outstanding leisure facilities. We went with the Or inclusive (serenity) option and it turned out to be very good value for money. A good selection of quality in imported wines as well as Cocktails, soft drinks and spirits included. The restaurants, particularly the à la cart were very good quality. Would highly recommend.

Lazy Week at Shandrani

Our home for the week was fantastic, clean and comfortable with the air conditioner being a saviour.

The turn down service was great, though missed for a couple of nights or 3.

Unfortunately there was no filter coffee in the room, although I had enquired about that before arrival, and was told that there was filter coffee.

The various restaurants were good value food-wise, with the Teak elephant being the best, in our opinion.

I used the gym a few times and was impressed with the equipment.

The staff could not do enough for us.. free late check out 😁. Great par thre course. Note: you have to by a sleave of golf balls so bring your own if you are going to p,ay. All free otherwise. Snorkling trip ok but good snorkeling off the beach (other side of jetty). Could only book 1 night at special returant so maybe try booking before you go. Large buffet resturant very ordinary (just fuel really)

As with our previous rating, this Hotel needs some serious TLC in the rooms, service, and food offers. We were told no ala Carte restaurant is available due to fully booked. just to discover endless tables available. Buffet dinner is a \"rat race\" and utterly disappointing.

Very nice location, 10 min from the airport,

All staff in the hotel, except for the main restaurant were very friendly and helpful.

The main restaurant is very busy during dinner, and food in bain-marie is not topped up regularly enough. We had to wait in long lines before we could be served.

The guy at the pizza station only makes 1 pizza at a time when the oven can take at least 4, resulting in frustration among diners.

Change in the restaurant manager might be a good idea

One of the sink was clogged, toilet flush make very loud sound , I checked out at 5:45am , but I told the clerk at counter that my wife will check out after 11:00am , but while my wife was out to have breakfast at hotel , someone came in to the room opens the closet and took the soap , lucky my wife had put her important belongings in the safe that was in the room . One of the drink serving waiter was rude and ignorant ,he had attitude , he was a black man , I didnt know his name . As I checked in I told the clerk at check in counter to arrange taxi for me for next day to pick me up at 5:45am , they didn’t have any answer when I called them on phone from my room , I had to walk back down at 9:30pm Approx. to reconfirm it . I give 3 1/2 stars to this hotel , and it’s over priced I paid $446 for one night .

Pro: Beautiful location and with a selection of restaurants. Food was amazing as expected. We had a Deluxe family room that gave onto the sea, which was amazing. Lovely people who would take you on their travel carts to our room as it was quite far away from reception. Bar staff were very hard working and professional.
Cons: Hotel room felt very dated. We had issues with the cleanliness of the room, bathroom especially which I had to formally complain about. Reception desk people could be more professional and apologise when making mistakes as we were being charged for using minibar despite being on all inclusive and despite calling them twice to sort out cleanliness issue for our room, nothing was done. Some staff at the buffet restaurant can be a bit more welcoming and smiling whilst providing their services.

Hotel é bonito e bem cuidado.
Oferecem esportes aquaticos (inclusive motorizado) todo os dias sem custo extra. 23h termina o serviço all inclusive. Se quiser beber tem que pagar extra (ridículo).
Algo mais absurdo é que das 22h fecha todos os restaurantes e não há opção de comida (nem mesmo lanche) até a abertura do café as 7h.
Opções de bebidas bem restrita pelo valor do all inclusive.
Qualidade da comida intermediária, nada espetacular.
É um bom hotel, mas peca pela qualidade do entretenimento noturno, alimentação e bebidas.

Beautiful resort, large but spacious so it never feels too busy. The service is a little slow but friendly so you need to relax into the island life and not expect instant attention. Very clean.
Boat house staff are excellent and if you want to learn to water ski you are in good hands.
Lots of activities to keep everyone busy.
Food is pretty good. We found the restaurants no better than the buffet, only that you get table service.

An excellent hotel with faultless service from all staff. We enjoyed our stay and felt very well looked after whatever we requested. Isabelle of guest relations was outstanding and went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed - she is a real gem. But all the staff were great and friendly too. The only criticism I have is that the rooms are looking a little tired and in need of refurbishment, but still comfortable, just not very modern.

The waterskiing was marvellous. Oliver was brilliant at teaching and encouraging and even filmed from the boat. Almost all the staff were very helpful and good but the amount of disinformation was stsggering. Eg front reception said you booked for waterskiing at 9am. No it was a queue system. Etc so that one doubted anything one was told.

The property offered loads to do with lovely views.
Didn’t like the young girls attitude at reception and found them very rude. They don’t seem to know what they are doing or don’t understand the needs of their guest so loads of problem with communication.
However the quick witted manager was able to resolve the issue which made our stay comfortable and we were able to enjoy the rest of our stay.

Beautiful location and a lot to do on site but overall the staff and service was a little forced.

Nobody really smiled and we felt a little like we were a bit of an imposition overall.

The hotel is beautiful though, rooms a little over used and perhaps a little refresh would be a bad thing.

Also. It's right at the end of the runway so it's not quiet. Seems popular with air crews and all inclusive holiday packages so if thats not entirely what you're in to then..

This hotel is great. Service was incredible and the all-inclusive plan was a great choice. Tip the wait staff in the restaurants and you will be taken care of during your entire stay. We really enjoyed our stay. Recommend taking an all day boat trip. Was expensive maybe, but worth every penny. Great place, enjoy your stay!

We really enjoyed our stay for 6 nights.

The resort is very relaxing and made our stay very easy - I would recommend the all inclusive package to anyone. The restaurants were a great surprise actually and it's worth booking each night rather than just going to the buffet (the Thai was fantastic).

The location is great for swimming and snorkelling, it was wonderful to be able to swim out straight from the beach into a coral reef.

Fantastic resort with many amenities and beaches

Wonderful time at this resort I used to visit as a teenager; I particularly like the fact there is both a calm-watered lagoon within which to do snorkeling and most water sports, AND a 'rougher' beach with tidal waves crashing in.
Rooms, food, service and ambience all top-notch. Thoroughly recommended.

Beautiful hotel with lots of activities

We enjoyed our stay here for the variety of activities and luxurious stay. The front of our hotel faces the Indian Ocean and the back faces the lagoon. We would love to come back to this beautiful place. Love it that the marine park is just so close!

It's a nice beach front family oriented hotel with private beach .There are lot of water entertainment activities we could participate for free like water skeing ,snorkeling,glass bottom boat tour etc which entire family could enjoy.Rooms were quite spacious and doors open directly to the nice beach .Service was very good too.Though the hotel is close to airport the route leads to hotel are quite confusing and lonely route too.The dinner spread is not good at all which is more of pork dishes .Pools are big but not water temperature adjusted .Overall very good family hotel which is very much service oriented.

Atish in the Italian restaurant was excellent, food really tasty.
International restaurant was a disappointment, slow service, due to being understaffed.

Flight bath means you get planes departing in what appears to be two hour slots. Other than that beach good especially the one near the other bar. Rooms are dated. We had the larger room, worth the extra. All inclusive was worth while also as drinks and food could be expensive

A Resort Near the Airport

This was our fifth stay in mauritius as we were flying out the next day. It is close to the airport, which can be good for convenience and if you're a plane spotter but not so good if you mind very low flying aircraft shattering the day. It;s a typical resort with all the resort type activities but what astounded us was that, if you are not on the full package rate, you are charged $3 a bottle for drinking water in the rooms, despite the fact that the tap water is not for human consumption. It is the only place where we were charged for a basic need and I admit that I would think twice about staying there again as we could have stayed in Flic en Flac for another day as the airport is only less than two hours away and most flights leave at night. The Italian restaurant there was brilliant!

This hotel was the best we have stayed in. A short drive from the airport & you are in an beautiful resort
with a huge range of facilities,enough to satisfy the most tastes. Many are sea based ; snorkeling, diving, sailing,canoeing, sail boarding,water-skiing to name but a few; some land based; tennis, golf (pitch & put) gym.
Glorious beaches, busy or secluded options depending on your taste, sparkling clear seas full of exotic reef fish.
Four excellent restaurants provide high quality food, presented beautifully, with service to match. Each restaurant with a different theme ensures good variety throughout your stay.
The development of the site has been done with care and taste. The low level spread out building development gives a feeling of spaciousness & harmony with nature. The countless trees & bushes together with abundant bird life matches the fish filled adjacent reef for natural beauty. A really great location for a relaxing break.Bring your own snorkel to take advantage of swimming off the beach & exploring the magical display of tropical fish.
Visit nearby Mahebourg for a taste of the real Mauritius.

The rooms we stayed in were infested with ants, and this apparently was a common complaint with the other guests in the resort too. We woke up in the morning finding many ants crawling around on our baby's cot, and realising she had been bitten in the night.

F&B etc is all ridiculously over-priced in this resort. Almost everything costs much more than the other 5-star resorts on the island.

Service was alright. There were a couple of very friendly and helpful ladies in the restaurant, but otherwise, there was nothing very note-worthy.

Wifi also does not work well in the rooms.

The only good thing about this place is that it is near the airport, which was the reason we chose it, as our flight arrived late in the evening.

Not 5* compared to other hotels on the island and given the facilities available. Perhaps 4* at best.

Hotel is clean but s little outdated and rooms could do with modernising.

Beach is very clean and lagoon very pretty. Near airport (10 mins in car) but aircraft noise is not obtrusive.

Breakfast in morning is nice although a little repetitive in terms of choice over a 7 day stay.

we stayed on this hotel only for one night because it was close to the airport but we wished we could have stayed more. Staff were very friendly and gave us few honeymooners compliments in spite of our short stay. The main downside that it's a bit far from all the island outdoor activities and main spots. The beaches are also a bit small but the water activities are very entertaining and always available.

Shandrani Resort is a good resort, with good staff (except the main reception staff, who were not really helpful) an excellent house reef and great facilities.

But there were somethings we did not like about the resort, for example you cannot get dinner at any of the three resort restaurants unless you make a reservation by 4pm. Now, given that we arrived at the resort only by 5pm, there was no way to make a reservation and we had to wait for quite a while. Also, since the resort is not located anywhere the main city so there are limited eating and shopping options nearby.

This is a problem, since the resort charges a bomb for food and even drinking water, luckily for us, we hired a car (not from the resort, thank god) and drove around for dinner and lunch.

Beautifully appointed rooms, with nice amenities. The discrepancies between online and in-person prices are rather startling, though. Very nice that boating and other such activities are included in the price of the room. I wasn't quite ready for the noise from the planes taking off LITERALLY in the field next door, but other than that, it was a nice hotel.
Staff were a bit agist, but the rooms themselves were very nice. .

We only stayed for 3 nights, but I did enjoy my short stay at this hotel. The location is not far from the airport, about 2 miles or so away. Its a rather big resort, but was not too busy for the time we were there. It has great water sports and has 3 restaurants, Thai, Italian and a Local cuisine including a Main restaurant Buffet style.
Its a lovely place, relaxing and totally enjoyable. The beach is a little rocky and the back one is a little rough, but the pools on the resort make up for this loss. The staff are really helpful and friendly. We had a late flight on our departure day and asked if we could check out late which was not a problem. Absolutely excellent service.

A really nice 4 star Resort & Spa

I don't want to be fastidious (maybe I am..) and maybe we had too high expectations, but I really don't see why this is a 5 star hotel..
The only i can compare it with, is the Le Victora which also os a Beachcomber hotel, and they are 4 1/2 star hotel. If you ask me (or us)it should have been totally opposite! Le Victora is a better hotel for sure.
So whats better? The choices you have when you are having lunch,dinner etc.
Le Victora have much,much more to offer in that regards, and for us the food is important during a stay like this.

Shandrani Resort & Spa have better rooms to some extent, but the rooms are not where you are going to stay most of the time.
It is also close to the airport which is nice, but you'll also get the noise from departing planes.(but not really that bad)

Don't get mer wrong - you'll get a nice stay at Shandrani Resort & Spa and a memory for life

Hotel is \"OK\" but comparable to other similarly priced resorts in Mauritius not good value at all. The Wi-fi coverage is poor. In room not working at all. 4/5 requests later someone arived but resolved only next day. Staff not as knowledgeable, helpful and friendly as experienced elsewhere. Almost seemed complacent - no competition close by?? All airline staff constantly book in and out (constant revenue stream contributing to complacency?) Like others food and drinks are expensive if not on full board. Rooms are very good and spacious - all sea facing. Various swimming option beaches. Buildings are fairly old but maintenance is fair. 3.5 to 4 star at best. Others in Mauritius at similar prices - 5 & 5+ stars

Fantastic Stay

A superb hotel with fantastic location and friendly staff. Loads of activities and dining options (book early though) and excellent all inclusive offering.

Avoid paying the hotel for airport transfers or ordering room service as these charges are exorbitant.

Good location and excellent restaurants

We moved to this resort towards the end of a two week holiday in Mauritius as it is close to the airport and we had an early flight back . In fact the resort is under the flight path but flights are relatively infrequent so this was not a cause for concern. Most people will likely arrive by taxi from the airport but if like us you are driving a rented vehicle be warned that the resort is very badly signposted from the airport. The resort fronts partly onto an attractive lagoon and partly onto the ocean but the ocean beach should be treated with caution as there are strong waves / currents. There is a reasonable range of water-based sports activities . The food in both the buffet and a la carte restaurants is of a very high standard notwithstanding that this is an all-inclusive resort . The only criticism would be that this is a large and resort with a rather impersonal feel and some of the staff come across as being indifferent or unfriendly.

Fantastic hotel

We had a great time at the Shandrani. The hotel has great facilities, superb restaurants as an alternative to the buffet, which itself is excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful, including the water sports team who have superb patience in teaching youngsters to water ski. The location near to the airport was not an issue, it's not a very busy airport. The weather was variable but we were the during winter (late July/early August) but always warm but not too hot when the sun shines. Plenty of activities during the day and hiring a driver for the day to take you to tourist attractions around the island was very reasonable. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone. You maybe paying a lot but it's worth it, no question.

Something for everyone

This hotel caters for all tastes with excellent water sports in a safe environment.The choice of busy pool or a quieter pool works well but the star is the little used spectacular beach with huge breakers from the Indian ocean.

One Week at Shandrani Resort (Family of 4)

Great experience - all inclusive made the stay very easy for us. No nickle and dime stuff...everything was truly included.

We were a family of 4 (two kids, 6 & 9). Everything is very clean and well maintained. One of best family vacations we have had.

If you like beaches, water sports, and stress free vacations - this is a great choice.

We made to feel valued guests from start to finish of our 7 night stay. We did not sample any sporting activities, but were a little disappointed with the Spa facilities, due to not being able to book appts. for treatments & then finding that they did not have stocks of the products used, when an appt. had been secured. The beach & pool facilities were excellent, and all of the staff very attentive.

Excellent Vacation Destination

This is a perfect place for a family holiday. We went with our 2 daughters (3yo and 4yo) and had a great week. The all inclusive package is all one can ask for. Good food, wonderful nature, open bars, paradise beaches, and all sorts of free activities.
The rooms are big and clean, and the staff is highly friendly and professional.

Amazing hotel with great service

Visited Mauritius on honeymoon and it felt like we were in paradise. What a gorgeous resort and the service was just absolutely brilliant. Could not fault a thing and will definitely be returning in the future.

Excellent Service and Food

Service was excellent, good resort for families with children but not teenagers, if you are interested in snorkeling then either bring your own gear or buy it from their shop and use the Sirius beach, only minus point is booking the restaurants which they have to fix.

A week at Shandrani

I just got back last night (I live in Washington DC) and had a lovely week in Mauritius. The staff is so friendly~ which makes it a great place to be. There are 2 coves and \"wild\" beach, so lots of natural places to hang. For me it was a bit busy at the pool sides with kids, families, etc... but you are able to find peace on the beaches. They come by in golf carts and offer drinks and 2 lunch selections. I hired a driver for 2 days and well worth it to see the island and get off of the property. The spa/s are lovely and well worth the visits. I thought the prices were US/EU prices, which I really don't like when you are visiting these resorts, also a wash and a dry was $85 (which I did not get!). The international wine selection is a great perk. Food good, although the buffets are just to crazy with kids running around. Feels like a cruise ship. Enjoy!
