The staff were tremendous and so caring and helpful. A husband and wife caretake the place and you would have thought they owned the place based on how careful and considerate they were. I was reminded of staying at my grandma's. Everything was so clean! We had booked one day because our other accommodation was far away from the airport given the time we came in. We were sad to leave

There is no airport shuttle. Take a taxi! The hosts were very nice. Breakfast was average but tasted good. Light in the room was quite dim. There were no towel bars anywhere. To get into the bathroom, you have to squeeze between a large, seemingly mostly empty piece of large furniture and the wall to get past the bathroom door. At night I turned on the light and waited a bit to let the cockroaches scurry for cover before I squeezed into the room.
Dogs barked most of the time, starting early and going late. I wasn't shown the switch behind the TV until the last day and thought the remote didn't work.

You get what you pay for.

For the cheap price you can expect what you get for your money. It is a 20 minutes from the airport which was the reason to stay for the one night with an early departure. The staff were cordial but the one thing they do not tell you is that there is no hot water in the bathroom. That I was a surprise I didn’t expect.

Terrible room. No air con, no windows. No TV. No private bathroom. Not as advertised! Shared bathroom was messy. Shower very poor. No toilet paper...just a flannel hanging on the toilet roll holder which, I assume, everyone used. I didn't use it for obvious reasons. AVOID!!

CHEATED. I had booked a room for a day as my flight was departing late at night. I called and informed them I will arrive late. When I arrived the person at the counter said there was no booking under my name. The neighborhood and the hotel itself were shabby. I decided to wait at the airport. On the way to the airport I had my taxi driver call the hotel and they shamelessly told him they had a room booked in my name but they gave it away to another customer who offered more cash on the spot. Reporting this scam to orbitz.

House has a cool common area to hang but the kitchen has a fridge, and stove, but no pots no cutlery, no plates. NOTHING TO COOK OR CLEAN WITH! NO microwave. Not even a tea spoon.
The lovely owners Who tell you they are NOT the owners are nice.
The room itself has been modified with mismatch fittings and things. IT is a little bit dirty feeling. There were ants and bugs ie roach and spiders in the shower and the floors. Interesting experience.
we stayed two nights because it was close to everything we were doing. Beach, Shops and the Festival by the ocean. Bft was simple and nice.
Wifi only works in certain areas of the room. Then it is shorty.

A gueshouse with all kind od services

Le Bamboo is a very convenient guesthouse. It is locatedin a quiet area but very close to the center, to the bus station, to restaurants and shops. The family that run Le Bamboo is extremely friendly and helpful. They speak both English and French and they are happy to help their customers with everything one can need in Mauritius (preparing dinner, information about transportation, sightseeings, washing, shopping, etc). Also, the guesthouse is very clean and it has modern air conditioning equioment in the rooms.

Good for a layover

Staff was excellent, she made me feel welcomed and cared for and was an excellent cook.

It was a shock to see the bug/animal debris in the room, but that comes in part from being in a tropical country. The bathroom had a missing pane of glass so on occasion or two a pigeon shared the bathroom. Otherwise it was a good room.

Be aware, the house is in a residential area so you many be awoken by blaring power tools and music. But hey that is part of the charm of getting to know Mauritius. Also although Mahebourg has the basics, it is a long journey via bus to Port Louis.

Family Run/Fun Guest House

Visiting Mauritius with some friends from work and chose this place because of the location and price. The family run guest house is close to the market, transit terminal and beautiful Blue Bay. The room I had looked over the lagoon and I watched fireworks reflect on the water. It also has a great view of the longest bridge in Mauritius.

Fabulous Stay

Travelled a lot and Le Bamboo is the best place I have stayed. The room was big and comfortable, big bathroom and hot shower. the breakfast was a huge one, they made me feel at home. Will surely stay there again.

OK for transit

We were picked up at the airport by the landlady and back at the hotel she offered some drinks. Our room was on the 2nd floor with narrow stairs (big suit cases a pain to carry up there). The room for 2 adults and a child was very basic - 2 beds, one ceiling light, a noisy air conditioning, an old tv and a tiny bathroom.

Great stopover or short-stay option

A very warm welcome and authentic Mauritian experience. If you are looking for a stopover near the airport or a couple of days in a family owned and run Hotel, Le Bamboo represents excellent value for money. Pravin and Reshma and their family made every effort to make us feel at home and the home-cooked food was delicious. The breakfast overlooking the river was a definite bonus. They can provide airport transfers and even showed around the island for a day. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Lovely service and location.

Beautiful stay ! Service is great pretty kind persons and lovely. They gave me great dvices to go to Ile aux cerfs and aswell in regards of different kinds of informations.. In regards of the room if you are just looking for something simple and close to the bus station and shop you are at the right place :)

The owner are very friendly and willing to help. local bus station is 5 min walking away from hotel. Bus go any place in the island. at day time there is bus service to airport and airport to the town

Located 5 min from the bus station (15 min ride from it to Blue Bay beach) and 10 min by bus away from the airport (bus available for 22 Rs). Room looked clean, but the towels smelled badly and we did meet a cockroach. Shower is built-in in the room without any openable window. Only one tab in the shower that gives you freezingly cold water quickly turning to boiling hot (really not possible to wash). Breakfast at a terrace with view to the river. Owners of the hotel are very friendly and helpful. Hotel is good for 1-2 nights stay for visiting the South-East of Mauritius and heading back home from the airport.

it is cozy family run hotel. rooms are small n clean good for a airport cathchers. near ti=o bus stand walking distance but if you have work in pt. louis then it is almost 1.45 to 2 hrs drive by bus. wife is too good to help you around but be careful with the taxi drivers near the bus depot they are rough and rude. value for the money.

good place close to the airport

It´s a very simple place, it´s the upstairs of a family´s house, but everything was clean, the room has bathroom and climatizer. It´s a good place to stay if you need to take a flight in the next day, only 10 minutes from the airport and the owner of the house can take you there for a very good price!
The family is just GREAT! Really nice people, the couple is very gentle and the kids very polite and cute.
I booked the place because of its great price and location. Stayed only for 1 night, no regrets at all. I would like to say thanks to the adorable family that onws the place and that was so nice and kind with my and my husband.

Good value, nice folks

Good value, friendly and helpful staff and great food make this a satisfying place to staff, especially if you need to be near the airport (10 min). Nice view over the river from the little terrace in back. It's a converted house, so you'll deal closely with the family. If dinner available, take advantage: the lady of the house is a great chef!

The owners Pravin and Reshma did everything to make my stay welcome and comfortable. The rooms are clean and quiet. Their is a nice view from the terrace towards the distant mountains where breakfast is served. Best value in Mahebourg!

Le BAMBOO---- A nice comfortable place to stay. The Owner and staff make you feel like its your home away from home. Very knowledgeable of the Island and ready, willing and able to assist you to make sure you see and do evrything in Mauritius. Restuarants, shops ,casinos and even a nightclub close
Breakfast provided with the family was a nice personal touch, and made the stay more enjoyable. The bathroom was very small but manageable. The room was cozy with a nice view of the Mountain and the river and with access to the roof a nice view of Mahebourg.
I would recommend Le BAMBOO for travelers wanting to get the most out of their vacation, without any worries because Reshma and her staff are there to make your stay in Mauritius a pleasant one.

we booked this hotel after seeing it on your site...but were very disappointed with the place . We do not understand how it has been given a three star rating. It is situated in a narrow lane and narrow stairs take you to dingy rooms and badly kept bathrooms. We do not recommend this place to anyone because there are better hotels on the waterfront at comparable rates.
Though the owners of the hotel are polite and friendly but there is no class and comfort in this guest house.The rating of this place should be less than one star.
We shifted to another place after spending one night there.

Es ist ein Familienbetrieb. Mala und Vishnu betreuen das Hotel, sie sind sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Preis - Leistungsverhältnis ist fair. Es ist kein Luxus-Hotel, aber wir haben uns dafür der einheimischen Bevölkerung sehr nahe gefühlt, was mir viel mehr bedeutet hat. Zudem geben sie gerne Tipps für Ausflüge, oder Infos darüber, wie die Kreolen sind und leben. Es war sehr schön und ich komme sehr gerne wieder. Alles Gute und bis zum nächsten Mal!

Nous avons passé trois nuits à Bamboo. Le couple qui s’occupe des hôtes est vraiment adorable et très attentif, ce qui rend l’accueil chaleureux.

La chambre offre une jolie vue sur la rivière, ce qui est très agréable et dépaysant. L’emplacement est pratique : le front de mer et le marché sont accessibles à pied, et l’aéroport est proche, ce qui facilite les déplacements. C’est un endroit parfait pour un passage court ou si vous prévoyez de passer vos journées à explorer plutôt qu’à rester dans la chambre.

Nous sommes arrives et une seule chambre était disponible. Pas de geste commercial pour la gene.
La chambre etait SALE!( draps avec des taches, cafards, moisissures sur les joints de la sdb) je ne suis pas specialement regardant vu le prix mais la mm le minimum vitale n’etait pas assure!!!!!!
