We were assigned a suite at the top a flight of stairs (of forty four steps) despite being almost eighty years old. There are no lifts!
Otherwise excellent in all respects, especially the staff who were uniformly outstanding.

We loved every second of our stay here.
We were upgraded to a beachfront frangipani room which was great.
4 different restaurants - all with fantastic food (Saffran was probably our fave). We had no issue getting reservations.
The all included watersports (inc motorised) were amazing.
The staff were all fabulous- they couldn’t do enough to help you.
We’re already planning our return trip.

The perfect hotel experience

Probably the best hotel experience I’ve had!
The hotel is beautiful. The beaches are incredible and the staff are the most obliging and attentive I have ever encountered. The restaurants and bars are varied and well run.
There is just no limit to the good things that can be said about Shangr-la Maury!

The resort itself is max 3-4*. Old concept. Constant selling attitude of staff (room upgrade, better this or that etc.). Service attitude of staff not existing in many areas. Restaurants are ok but totally overpriced.
Two episodes of our stay: During arrival, we had to wait 75 minutes in our room for our luggage (we were the only arrival at this time). There are different areas to enjoy the beach (all areas are free). We were asked by the staff to leave the beach lounger because a more important guest wanted to lie there.

Our room smelled of dampness when we arrived and the air conditioning would blow cold air even when it was turned off making our room unpleasant. The hotel provided us a cleaner room. The hotel has a stunning private island which made our week trip worthwhile yet the service and food was not up to the standard of a top hotel. Especially that we stayed at the One and Only Mauritius hotel the previous week, we could really feel a lower quality of service and food. The hotel needs a renovation and a more luxurious feel

Amazing place made better by the fabulous staff

Stayed with friends to celebrate 2 wedding anniversaries and 2 big birthdays. Relaxed, played golf and ate really well. Hotel is amazing. Feels so relaxed yet everything is run so efficiently. The staff are the best thing about the hotel. They are all wonderful, friendly and helpful. Feels like they really want you to enjoy your stay. We have visited this hotel several times and keep returning because the staff are so good. Golf course is beautiful and really well run so there is no waiting. A day on the private island with a long lunch is magical. Really good selection of restaurants. All are excellent but do book before you travel if you want to dine in the signature restaurants.

We stayed at Shangri-La Le Touessrok for the first 3 days of our honeymoon. This resort exceeded our expectations on every level. The staff was INCREDIBLE and made us feel like royalty. They bent over backwards to give us the most welcoming and enjoyable visit. We purchased the honeymoon package, which included a breakfast on the beach (was fabulous), foot massage, bottle of sparkling wine, and flowers/balloons. They even went above and beyond with that. They surprised us with a delicious cake to accompany the sparkling wine and had our room completely decorated when we returned from dinner on our anniversary night (we were honeymooning 2 years late due to Covid). The spa treatment was wonderful - much nicer than expected for being part of a package purchase. We spent an afternoon at the private island, to which they provide transportation, which was something we didn't know about until we got there. (Would recommend it!). We got to know the staff on a first name basis, and I honestly have never experienced the level of hospitality and kindness as we did at Shangri-La. I have zero complaints and would absolutely return to this property if we ever return to Mauritius.

Would not Rush back, utterly disappointed

I want to say that the experience here was unforgettable and that I would love to come back, but I cannot.

I understand that 18 Months of Covid and therefore the tourist industry was depleted, however it just seemed that everything here was to recoup the lost money without Service or otherwise without thinking what you are the hotel offering in mind at the time...

The 'hot' buffet food, either Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner, was stone cold, the vegetarian options were completely light to nothing and variety was terrible. Adding salt to the wound you spent equivalent £15 for a vege side dish, sandwich, pasta etc which was heavily fried with tonnes of butter. Also most vege dishes in any of the restaurants were mostly onions especially in the Indian restaurant.

For a £600 a night hotel the amenities were poor, the restaurants were fully booked if not closed on most nights and had to spend a day just booking things up, I understand covid however this was legitimately down to restaurant capacity due to other places being shut and not because of social distancing

The only decent meal we had was the Japanese restaurant the chef was attentive, made us something we can have that was not a variation of courgette, pepper and onions deep fried in butter and bland.

I would rather choose another newer hotel and upgrade for the price I paid. Will never visit a Shangri La again

Paradise to ourselves!

We have just returned from an 8 night stay at Shangri-La Le Touessrok, where we had the most incredible stay and experience.

This is our second time staying at the Shangri-la in Mauritius and it didn’t disappoint, regardless of the current covid restrictions, the team did their upmost to ensure we were well looked after for the duration of our stay.

On our first day, we were welcomed into the hotel by Sunil, who instantly made us feel at home and continued to ensure our stay was nothing less than exceptional. The special touches such as the resort tour, hotel history/stories and the special gifts sent to our room, Sunil went above and beyond to personalise our stay.

During the 8 nights, we were able to enjoy many different restaurant themed nights, with the beach BBQ and Mauritian nights being our personal favourites. The daily menu's had been carefully curated to enable us to experience all restaurants available in the Shangri-la under one roof due to the current capacity of the hotel. Andreas, Bobby and the team we were always on hand to offer recommendations and were happy to accommodate any requests.

Thank you to Nitish and the bar team for always looking after us during Happy Hour and ensuring our glasses were never empty!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Hibiscus beach.
Resort is in good condition, rooms are clean and well appointed. The only things they could improve is (a) more consistent service across the resort and (b) a greater variety of fish in the buffet restaurant Le Bazar.

A wonderful surprise! Mauritius is already a paradise island, but Le Touessrok Resort brings Heaven on Earth.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with five-star treatment, and the images belie the fact that the location is pure and serene. The dining options are numerous and cover a wide range of culinary tastes. The beach front is well manicured with prompt service. Even by the man-made pools, the environment was worthy of spending the day away relaxing.

I do have some minor criticisms, most notably the lack of an elevator in our building, which is sorely needed when you have to climb three flights of stairs repeatedly. Another criticism were the people offering tours or selling trinkets around the resort. It was never overwhelming or disrespectful, but after the fifth person tries to offer you the same scuba diving package you'd be slightly annoyed too.

Lastly, there's Kushi and it was disappointing. The food was okay, but considering how often the restaurant was fully booked you'd think the food would be amazing! Moreover, when I asked for sake I was given a puzzled look and told that did not have any. Upon my double-take, I asked our waiter to double-check and when he returned he apologized for the mistake. After our meal, I asked to see what other sakes were available to which the response was: we only serve one sake. A Japanese restaurant only serving one type of sake? Please, you can do better.

In summary, I would definitely recommend for at least a week long stay.

Loved the services and private island experience. When there was a temporary power cut they compensated with a beautiful buffet and 10 min massage experience on their private island which had live entertainment and was really fantastic. The massages at the spa were good however we would rate the Long Beach Hotel massages higher as they had a more holistic approach which meant you came out feeling amazing. We walked back to Long Beach whilst at Shangri-La just to have another massage, took us 3 hours to walk there but it was worth it. Otherwise Shangri-La had everything we needed.

We had a fabulous time at Le Touessrok. It really is as good as it looks in the photos. Our room was very comfortable and the food selection in the Bazaar buffet restaurant was incredible. Our only gripe was that you get free bottled water in the room and on the beach all day but when you get to dinner in the restaurant you have to pay approx £5 a bottle!. Considering how much you are paying to stay per night I think this is outrageous. All the other drinks were VERY expensive too. That aside I would recommend this hotel in every respect.

Had a wonderful time excellent service staff was amazing cleanliness to high standards, in the main buffet restaurant the staff were amazing especially Rakesh he was amazing in attending to every need very enthusiastic & lively, friendly & helpful also Raj in the lobby very friendly always attending to your needs very friendly like a family environment made us feel very comfortable. The spa gym excellent they trainer Michale was amazing as a personal trainer been giving a great workout while we were there great motivation. Only one downside watch out for the scammers on the beach who are selling jewellery& tour to the waterfall & snorkelling & stuff got ripped off got an all exclusive package with joe for £165 which was meant to include everything when we was put on the boat they didn’t let us do everything we paid for instead wanted more money from us when we where out there, got ripped of by £75 stuff we didn’t do plus no health & safty checks plus equipment was filthy for snorkelling. The other guy tried to sell us Corel necklaces for £180 for 1 later when we when out to shops saw the same for £7 so whatch out they don’t leave you alone won’t take a no for an answer once you say you don’t want to buy they keep harassing you on the beach when you trying to relax which is annoying. Other than this experience everything was amazing about the resort but I feel they should do more to make sure this doesn’t happen to their guests

The Staff is first class and always will assist you if there is a need

What we found is that the hotel restaurants and bar prices are extremely high
Being used to 5 star hotel prices and living in Switzerland we still had a sticker shock about the food and beverage prices
Example:
We were even charged for tap water 220 RS!

Manager apologized to us after we complained

All the rest of our stay was fabulous

Hotel has also the most beautiful privat island!!!

We just finished a week at Shangri-La's Le Touessrok Resort & Spa and we will definitely go back!

The resort exceeded expectations in almost every category.

- genuinely friendly service that went the extra mile every day..i lost count of how many things the staff & resort did to make our stay special & they are always on the lookout to help before we had to ask

- the kids club/activity list is the best i have seen anywhere in the world..golf lessons, water skiing, hobie cat sailing..all on / around their private island, along with the more common painting, games, safe supervised swimming, music performances, mini-olympics, tennis..i don't have enough space to list it all, suffice to say we were wondering if the adults could join in too! they will take care of your children from early to late if you just want a break, including meal times

- the golf course is amazing and all inclusive - you can play as much as you want on the course & range at no additional cost, only had to pay for (non-mandatory) buggie
- live entertainment every evening, from top DJs to local performers, family shows, there was something for everyone

- the food was fantastic, and a good selection from relaxed buffet & beach club to smart casual indian & japanese

- most water sports are included..we were so busy we only managed a few

I hardly ever get round to writing trip reviews..it was such a good stay that i felt i had to for this one.

The property itself is really lovely, beautifully decorated and offers amazing amenities. I loved the complementary access to Ile Aux Cerfs and its private island, Ilot Mangenie. The Coral Beach at the hotel and beaches at the neighbouring islands were stunning and pristine. There’s no shortage of options if you’re looking to relax by the beach or pool.

The main downside is the poor dining options provided. The buffet breakfast was the only meal that I consistently enjoyed during my stay. I was really disappointed to find only pub food like burgers and fries to be made available for lunch, especially when there are no other dining options nearby off the resort. It would’ve been nice if there are additional healthier alternatives for lunch and dinner. Furthermore, I found the hotel’s dinner reservation system to be rather rigid and inconvenient. As a guest, you must make dinner reservations at the onsite restaurants, Safran or Kushi, in advance. Otherwise, you’ll be stuck eating at the dinner buffet at Le Bazar, which others mediocre food at best with the exception of Friday nights when they host seafood night. I tried going to Safran 1 night and was turned away because they were “fully booked.” I ended up dining at Le Bazar instead, which is across from Safran and I could see that Safran only had 2 or 3 tables full in total during the same time. I was pretty annoyed since they could’ve easily accommodated me when I tried going! There are definite areas needing improvement

Service/ food inconsistencies with other locations

We stayed at the Beachfront (Frangipani) Junior Suite for 3 nights. Amazing room with a beach right outside. Safran serves delicious Indian food. Live music at the bar daily night. Wide range of complimentary activities inside the hotel. Private island was very relaxing. Spa was so-so. Gym was fully equipped.

Staffs were friendly & always try their best to assist but there's information inconsistency across different staffs and management should definitely look into investing in more staff training so this location can live up to clients' expectations as a 5-star hotel. For instance, staff promised to have the laundry to be delivered by the next day's 10am but the promise was not kept and we spent 15mins at the concierge tried to figure out where they sent the laundry to. This is valuable time that can be avoid wasting.

The bed was comfortable but we felt the sheets weren't changed daily unless we write a note to tell house-keeping staff to do so. This is inconsistent with other Shangri-la chains where you need to put a note if you wish your bed sheets NOT to be changed. It's important to have sheets changed daily at that location at least because there're a lot of little bugs around.

The selections at Le Bazar were too salty. The restaurant claims to have different themes daily but don't expect to taste well-thought & relevant dishes. Comparing the buffets in Shangri-la Mauritius vs. HK, the quality in Mauritius seems to leave behind quite a bit.

Good rooms, great staff, 4 resturants ( 2 are good and 2 are ave or just fo not know what they want to be- mixed up menu's and delivery) . Expensive everything $6 for a coke . $75 min for a evening meal per person . The real off putting part is zone smoking policy- walk into recrption-smoking, round restaurants-smoking, round rooms -smoking, in bar-smoking, music area-smoking. , you just could no escspe, they gave no policy.

I don't do golf but looks ok.,you must do piña colada . If you want scuba organise it on the west coast .
Watercskiing wake boarding and hobie cat sailing are great.
On the island it feels very safe and the Indian quisine is wonderful .

The swimming pools not to deep so no worries,but the only thing is you need a taxi to go anywhere,can't walk out of the hotel.

Could not fault this place!

Exceptional value for money, lots of activities and inclusive green fees at one of the best golf courses I have played. Well laid out and despite the fact that it was full it was very peaceful. The staff are amazing, good quality food and you don't feel the need the need to leave the resort. Would definitely go back.

The hotel is generally in good shape, but the food prices are too much. It has a nice beach, however the see water in not very clean. The hotel area is not very good, there are no restaurants nearby. In some areas of the hotel wifi is not working. It is not very suitable for the families with small baby and stroller.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location

The Hotel was was brilliant from start to finish. Staff very attentive in all aspects from room service, pool, bar and restaurant staff. Complimentary drink upon arrival and check in done whilst relaxing. We were slightly delayed of check in to our room but were compensated for this by having a late check out on day of departure until 16:00 instead of 12:00 which helped. The restaurants were great. Republik for BBQ buffet on the first night was great quality for a buffet and a lot of choices / options top choose from that differed from usual in hotels. We went to the Japanese on the 2nd night. The novelty of being able to cook your own meats at the table with your own personal hot plate was fun, although it would have been better if the food was seasoned first and there were more choice of sauces etc. The frangipani suite was very comfortable, large in size and perfect location overlooking the beach. Everything we needed was within a minutes walk. Complimentary breakfast was included in our room only booking which was great and a lot of choice. The pool was big and clean and with being in the Frangipani area was exclusive to guests who were staying in those suites. No children allowed so easy to relax. Sun beds were a plenty and the pool service was great with free drinks and fruit provided on occasions. The whole experience was amazing from start to finish.

Good 4 Star Hotel

Overall management and staff training is lacking to make this a five star hotel. Shame because it's a beautiful resort. There are a lot of really nice managers wandering around but there is no consistency of service from one day to the next. They really want to look after you but don't quite know how. Good for a 4 star hotel but not quite 5 star eg. Restaurant and lobby bar staff don't look around to see if you need something or to promptly clear away dishes.; Not charged service fee for room service first couple of days and then suddenly told £12 service fee now introduced as new policy when nothing written in the guide! Shoes left in tray for complimentary polishing but never polished during the week we were there. Good breakfast buffet, dinner buffet starters and dessert excellent however unimpressive main courses usually dry or overcooked. Excellent massage at Spa with Arveen who really knows how to cure you. I was there practically every day. Nice cocktails at the bar.

Fabulous decor and location. Extraordinary access to private islands. Limited choice of cuisine and staff not yet properly trained for a 5 star hotel of this caliber. Spa facilities exorbitantly expensive.

Good hotel but need work on their food & service

The hotel was great, with beautiful beaches and complimentary shuttle to Ile Aux Cerfs and Shangri-La's private island. All the rooms are facing the beach/sea. However we find the mattress too firm for comfort.
Location: Compared to Grand Baie and Flic en Flac, this part of the island is a bit too boring.
Food: Very limited restaurants you can go to except those (overpriced) in the hotels. We were quite disappointed with the food in Shangri-La. The bread is hard and chewy, and some with nuts are rancid!? Like what some others said, food in Mauritius is just average. I would not recommend eating at the hotel unless you are on half/full board. Oh, do note that room service commands a delivery fee :(.
Service: it is very individual. some great and some bad. Generally, the service from the housekeeping team and servers at the private island were fantastic. Service at the main restaurant (Le Bazar) are generally good especially if they are not busy. Service at The Republik was disappointing. We were rushed to make an order and they were eager to clear the table (despite the restaurant being very empty). Service at the reception is ok but i was a bit fed-up with a lady who said will get back to me but never return.
Overall, it is a great hotel with good size rooms, great facilities, thoughtful services (water at the beach, slippers, beach bag, etc). But they really need to work on the food. And more warmth in their service would be great.

The setting is like paradise but the human element has disappeared. Food extortionate but with not a commensurate quality standard. Room service charge for a simple hamburger £10.

10 days in Paradise

The hotel taxi greeted us at the airport and provided chilled flannels and ice cool water which was exactly what we needed and set the tone for our entire trip - in fact we were amazed to find a member of hotel staff greeted us when we were dropped back off at the airport 10 days later - just to make sure we got to the check-in desk okay. Wow! In between times we enjoyed a terrific beach-side deluxe room, fabulous food - particularly recommend Safrans but all 3 restaurants were great and we had 2 fab lunches on Ile Mengenie, one on Ile aux Cerfs and half a dozen in the Sega Bar and as for Breakfasts - another wow! Beaches were great - golf course looked terrific [something for next time] and the diving trip was very well run - a great experience. We did a day trip by taxi with Veesh as our driver / guide - explored the Southern part of the island - waterfalls, volcano craters, the Rummery and more - really excellent value and we'll definitely try the Northern trip next time. The entertainment was phenomenal and above all the people - lovely!!

Amazing Resort Touessrok

It was an unforgettable and memorable experience as it was our Ruby wedding anniversary. The staff were excellent from start to finish. Mundhill and Nicole made it that extra special. We had an ocean view room which was amazing. The pool was fantastic and it was attended by lifeguard and fresh towels and bottled water were available. We spent some time on both islands and were well looked after by the skipper and the staff on the island.
Food were of high quality and met all our expectations. Our Ruby wedding Anniversary was celebrated with a special cake and complementary champagne.
We would highly recommend this hotel and hopefully looking to return again one day.

A large hotel resort with own beaches, several swimming pools, 3 restaurants, golf course. All rooms have a balcony or a terrace.Hotel staff is available during the day. Rooms have coffee and tea makers, small fridges a big TV screen.
We had two sinks, a bath tub and a shower in the bathroom.

The best hotel on Mauritius

Fantastic. The staff are so friendly and whilst it is unfair to single any employee out Noel in the restaurant looked after us well and Bertie tried so hard (but without successes) to teach me to water ski. The hotel has a great location and one week after my visit it was due to close for full refurbishment and will reopen as a Shangri La Hotel (very exciting) !

A complete experience

The resort is truly a complete experience, the hotel with access to beautiful beaches and all the watersports, in addition to the SPA, all types of possibilities for recreation, Yoga classes, Pilates, running tracks etc. The fantastic golf course on the private island, with grenfee included in the price. And as if that was not enough the resort also has a private island with fantastic beaches. The boat service is excellent and runs every 20 - 30 minutes to the islands and the quality of the food and the service is of high standards. The only negative part of the experience is that drinks and especially wine is very expensive.

Nice hotel on the beach.

Definitely a 5-star resort. There is nothing the staff can't do to make you feel special.

The bay it is in is nice, even at the tail end of a cyclone, the water was fairly smooth.

The breakfast and half board are awesome. Prepare to eat a lot of good food.
The Indian restaurant is great as well.

The housekeeping was excellent.

Several beach activities available between its beach and the resort's islands.

Our deluxe room was great. Plenty roomy for the two of us and the sliding glass door opened up to the beach.

If you go swimming, sit on the floating platforms and look between the boards, good chance you'll see fish swimming around underneath.

Room's wifi was decent and free.

The library had a decent selection of movies to check out to bring to your room (free). However, avoid using their computers. They are a pain to use due to the amount of adware. I personally wouldn't put my personal information in on them. They definitely need to be cleaned and scanned for virus/spyware.

Amazing hotel with wonderful staff

My wife and I stayed 9 nights at Le Touessrok for honeymoon, and we had a wonderful experience. Staff was amazingly friendly, genuinely wanting to help and in general delight us beyond reason, in subtle ways. The hotel itself was beautiful: its 2 additional islands provided further visiting opportunities within hotel area, great choice of daily activities, delicious food (we were in half board), beautiful ocean view room (Hibiscus), and in general a great experience. Also, the honeymoon gifties were wonderful and we highly recommend going there for honeymoon, top location and great staff attentive to making it lovely. Only criticism is that the weather can be changing in December: we had 2 days of exceptional rain - not a problem considering the wealth of activities available. We plan on coming back on our 10th or 20th year wedding anniversary!
