La Splendia has a great location with ocean views and access to coastal trail. Staff was friendly but breakfast service slow. The elevator (lift) was broken the whole 3 days we were there. I would definitely stay there again.

A hotel of average quality. No frills. If you want a quiet room, I suggest you don't choose the ocean view. Our room was over the restaurant with a busy street in front. It was quite noisy. A few things didn't work very well. For instance part of the dead bolt was broken and couldn't be used from the inside of the room. The bright spot was the staff: friendly and helpful.

We stayed here twice at the beginning and end of our stay. Our first room overlooking the seafront we preferred ! Loved being able to have a cuppacino downstairs at Sotano . The staff were very helpful especially when we needed a ride and Uber wasn’t available for 45 minutes!! Used Unicab instead!

Great place to stay in a great location.

Great hotel in a great location, with very friendly and accommodating staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Great food and drinks as well as live music on a Sunday. A healthy mix of locals and tourists in the bar and restaurant makes for a great atmosphere. Highly recommended and I'll definitely be back.

Perfect location. We struggled with Mosquitos which I suspect were coming from the park across the road and I found the in-room air conditioning to be old and inadequate. Staff at the front desk were extremely helpful and friendly and although the on-site parking was limited it was very secure and reasonable once you could get a bay.

Very convenient and lovely view

The hotel is fairly basic, no-frills but pleasant enough. The manager very kindly allowed us to move to a room with a better view and it really was amazing, and made our stay super-special. We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant and it was nice - also lovely view. It's very convenient to all amenities in Cape Town. They dont give you a spare toilet roll and there are non available after hours which was annoying.

A very small hotel whose expedia photo is way out of date.
Nice hotel we had a superior room which ment we had an upstairs so we had plenty of room we paid for parking. Which was more to do with our car was a rental.
We also paid for a breakfast which was served from 7am
The room was clean comfortable with a sitting area
Tea, coffee and fridge in the room.
The restaurant on the ground floor provided the breakfast ala carte not a buffet breakfast with a fair choice for the size of the place.
We dined there on one occasion
The staff told me they dont get tips that are charged to the room make of that what you will
I would have no qualms about going back

At check-in we were checked in in a room lower that what was booked for, at reception they didn't mention any thing until I went down and complained, they offerrd a free brakefast for one day and next day I was moved to the suite I booked, Was disappointed by the sweet, 2 story room with a steep stairs, almost never went upstairs, on the suite I have a side view to the ocean however I selected this hotel because of its location and the view shown on the web site photos.
second day the list was off the whole day, had to use the stairs to go up and down 3 floras.
if some one is to book on this hotels he must select sea view rooms not suite it is better and less expensive. however it is very well located on the beach road close to very nice restaurants.

Limited facilities. Restuarant l/lounge has very poor lighting so one cannot read easily. Has a lot of high volumr background music which was fine for Friday night or Saturday night, but I also just wanted somewhere to relax and read with a quiet cup of tea. Room fine as a crash pad, spacious and clean but not somewhere I wanted to sit and read. It had a great sea view, but was alsocright above the busy restaurant and road so had associate noise. Overall fine at a price, but could’ve improved.

I had a very relaxing time and peaceful stay! The room was neat, simple and beautiful ... with a stunning view onto the golf course and Green Point Park and mountains in the background! I had a delicious meal at the restaurant and later ordered room service, which was fab!!! All in all a great time spent at Le Splendida and will come again on my own and with friends!

My stay was pleasant and comfortable... the hotel is situated on the Mouille Point beachfront and has the feel of an urban apartment block... quite viby, contemporary in design, decor and the guest profile. Minimalistic look. I enjoyed my room on the first night and was upgraded when I extended my stay. Whilst the thought is appreciated since the room was much bigger, it was split on two floors (e.g. study area upstairs) which was not the most convenient for me at the time. I appreciated the thought but it might have been helpful to alert me to that change at the front desk. Sadly, there were technical problems with the wifi so that was not available at the time

The location is good, close to the water, quick Uber to most locations. The room was nice, nothing too extraordinary, nothing bad either. The room had a micro fridge which was nice for keeping fresh food cold. My room was right next to the rooftop fan from the downstairs restaurant, so I couldn't open the window unless I wanted to smell the burning smells of the food from the kitchen.

The internet did not work for 3 out of the 4 nights I was staying there. When I asked the hotel staff on the first night of my stay if they were aware of the issue, they said yes and that it should be working in the morning. To my surprise, it didn't work almost the entire trip. And even when it did work the last night, it was as slow as can be. So, I had to pay extra for my international data plan just so I could access Google Maps to plan out my day. The staff did not see this as an urgent issue at all. They didn't even accommodate me when I asked for a price adjustment.

I would NOT recommend this hotel. There are a lot of nicer hotels in the area, if not in a better area, that will have an experience far beyond what I had. I should have cancelled after realizing this the first night of my stay.

One Splendid night!

I did a last minute booking at La Spendida for my husband and son for one night only when their Clipper boat arrived late to Quay 6 Waterfront. The reception desk was friendly ad efficient and there was a lively bar and cafe at the entrance. This is a great place to sit with a good atmosphere and very close to the promenade and sunsets. The room was a light and airy twin room, no view, on request, because we only needed one night and it was dark when we arrived! A lovely location near the lighthouse promenade and Sea Point. Easy walks and on a local bus route. I would recommend a stay here. I think it generally has a young vibe.

I was a little underwhelmed by the hotel in total. Rooms could do with some updating an a few more comforts (e.g. the chairs are particularly uncomfortable). Things felt a little sparse. The service was disappointing, with constant problems trying to sign restaurant items too my room. Felt like there is a lot of bureaucracy running the place with staff of the hotel not having that personal touch.

This friendly hotel is perfectly situated on Beach Road. It has panoramic views of the Atlantic over a large public green space. Sit in the restaurant and watch the parade of roller bladers, joggers and dog walkers come and go. Look into buying a pass for MyCiti Bus which has a bus stop right across the road and runs regularly to and from the city. In house restaurant offers a variety of artisanal beers and great food.

The check in was very good, the manager on duty was very friendly and helpful, explaining everything about the establishment and the surrounding areas.
I had lunch in the restaurant downstairs and that was outstanding.
Arriving at the room with the room door wide open and no one in attendance was a bit disturbing.
Coffee and tea was supplied, a little disappointing that there was no water in the fridge though.

A real find

This hotel was one of those 'finds', a small, personal hotel with a great cafe/restaurant below. We were delighted when we went into the room to find a balcony off the bedroom and then stairs up to the lounge with another balcony there as well. Both rooms were generous and bright with a diagonal view across the bay (room 302). Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The downstairs cafe was busy all the time, especially Sunday when there was a great collection of people with small dogs (all well behaved, both the dogs and people!!), cyclists, motorcyclists and walkers. However we could hear none of this from our room. Later that evening there was a small band playing great African music and we wondered if this would keep us awake - no trouble, they finished at 7 anyway. The food was excellent; we had lamb confitte which was tasty, tender and plentiful. Try the 'Old Engine Oil' porter if you like a dark beer. The hop-on/off bus (190 rand for the day) stops every 15 minutes immediately across the road (it goes to the base of Table Mountain for the cable car) and a taxi to the port area cost us 80 rand at 11pm. We walked to and from the port area (about an hour each way) and enjoyed the views although it was quite a busy road. We felt safe at all times and would highly recommend it to anyone who likes smaller hotels with character and really good food.

Nice but needs better quality window fitting

The location is good, and the staff are great and friendly. The room is clean and wifi good enough.

However, the area being on the point is very windy. This would normally not be a problem, but the windows on the sliding doors to the balcony, are of very poor quality. Not only do they rattle, but they also whistle and howl in the wind. The noise is very loud. And if you are in a suite as we were, there are 2 of these doors. I honestly would have slept better in a tent. Its the only downside to this hotel, but was a significant factor in disrupting our stay.

We had a very nice stay! We enjoyed a complementary bottle of wine as we were on our honeymoon. The restaurant attached is fabulous and reasonably priced. However they are selective for room service hours so no breakfast in bed (which would have been lovely). Also our room was at the back of the hotel and the wifi didnt reach our room. Which wasnt much of a problem for us, just a side note to others.

WORST STAY EVER !!!

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in!! they put us above a bar and it kept us up all night and they begin set up for the next day at 5:30 am - throwing chairs around and making more noise than an army invasion on a Sunday Morning, at 5:30AM - ridiculous.

SERVICE = shocking, receptionist laughed at me when I called on Sunday morning to complain about the noise, he didn't even know the star rating of his own hotel when I asked him. Check-in lady was incredibly rude to us and when we left the manager or front desk gentlemen did not even ask us how our stay was or say goodbye.

Worst hotel on earth, I use Hotels.com often and I'm always impressed, I would remove this hotel from my listing if I were you.

A true gem

La Splendida was the perfect hotel, the location was opposite the ocean, with a promenade, enabling you to walk to Sea Point or the VA waterfront.
The rooms were big and airy! Giving a holiday feeling
The restaurant was superb, food delicious, enjoyed by locals and tourists.
The staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful throughout the stay.
Only downsize was poor internet access, but that seems to be in general in the city!
Definitely recommend this hotel and hope to return myself!

The candy striped old lighthouse was across the road and Beach Rd was easy to access from any direction. Being situated on the so close to the beach meant that we had no problems finding our way to La Splendida from the Airport at 1:00 am. At that time hardly any traffic. It's also easy to escape from Capetown via the N2 by leaving Beach Rd turning LEFT on Helen Suzman Drive which leads after several minutes to the Freeway on the left.

Unfortunately this was not a good experience. Our room nr 106 had a musty smell. I should have asked for another room or at least told them as we arrived but I only informed them the next morning. This is the only reason for an unpleasant experience. Also room service is not good. Only asked for ice which never got delivered. When they remembered and phoned we were already on our way out.

the room floor was dirty, they had cups for tea and coffee, but there was no tea or coffee. i was battling to lock the door as the lock was a kind of broken. i woke up around 7h30 by force because all the noise from the corridor was so loud in my room. ex: neighbors door opening and closing, cleaning ladies going up and down the corridor.

Noisy, smelly, no internet but good location.

We stayed at this hotel two years ago and was surprised how bad it was compared to last time. The service was not great, for example did we ask about another blanket because it was cold in the room and it took them two nights to give it to us. The hotel is also very noisy and we woke up early everyday because of noice from the outside. having that said, the location is great, the rooms are big (although not very clean). But the rooms smelled weird and not very pleasant. I will probably not stay there again.
Oh and the \"free internet\" is not working.

We booked this hotel for the long weekend and did not expect much as we paid a very cheap rate for the suite we booked. Boy were we suprised to see what we got for the little we paid. The room was clean and the added suite was fantastic. We didn't need to call for anything cos everything was in the room. My boyfriend was more than happy. We enjoyed the service at the bar, food was great and the live band was awesome! Will definitely be back.
