The beach is beautiful, the resort is beautiful and well looked after there is plenty of activities for the family great breakfast and dinning options. Service is top notch and honestly probably one of the best beach resort we have stayed at and we travel a lot so well done to O&O le saint geran everything is perfect!!!

World class 5-star stay - Highly Recommended

This is a bonafide five-star hotel and probably one of our best hotels we ever stayed at. We normally aim for O&O, Rosewood and Four Seasons and sometimes Mandarin Oriental and this is a top 5 in the world for us.

The food is world-class and service is impeccable and we actually extended our stay with an additional 5 days and rebooked our flights back to Europe. One in the family haven’t been feeling well for a few days and the entire hotel and staff is helpful to accommodating our needs and “bending” the rules in the right way to ensure as smooth experience as possible despite the situation. We were also fans of the Guerlain Spa that was classy all the way. The staff have a high awareness of our dietary expectations and limitations from the day of arrival and through out our stay.

We highly recommend this to families who wishes a smooth vacation with great food and world-class service. We think the Ocean Front Rooms are value for money and the terrace rooms are also the best.

Beautiful resort for a couple or relaxing days

The location is great and the entire property setting is beautiful. The rooms are nice and we had a lagoon room which feels even more private. The Japanese restaurant is very nice, overall the food is good. It’s still one of the great resorts in the Indian Ocean.

Things to take into consideration before booking.

Food is terrible with the expedition of breakfast.
If you plan on lounging by the pool; prepare to pay a ridiculous expensive minimum consumption to use a bed.
I was supposed to have a butler who never ever showed up.
Concierge is rude and not helpful.

The hotel is a comfortable and beautiful property. Everything is very new and sparkles. The live band after dinner was a nice touch and the cafe off of the main lobby was an added bonus. All of the staff was very help and pleasant.

Beautiful hotel . Great for families with small children. Fantastic buffet and breakfast. Amazing service. Loved The Point even though the food could have been better. Loved the early evening Dj with the fire pits. Shame you couldn’t eat there after 6-30pm. Perfect place for a bbq . Tried the Japanese and sadly it wasn’t great . We had to send the vegetables back . Fantastic gym tennis courts spa etc. Just felt it was lacking in something for our age group.

This is a lovely hotel on a really lovely beach. The rooms are well designed and laid out and hotel facilities are as you would expect from a five star hotel. The spa is especially good.

The main problem with this hotel is the restaurants. Admittedly we stayed out of season, but on the three nights that we were there the dining options were very limited. The first night we ate at Prime - this was a compete catastrophe - it took them three attempts to cook a rare steak. You would expect any restaurant that charges over sixty pounds for a steak to get this right - it spoilt the evening completely. The second night it was buffet only - this was very poor for a five star hotel. On the third night the Indian restaurant was open (first time since we arrived) - this was excellent food, so it was a real pity that it only opened a couple of times a week.

Best stay that I have had in Mauritius thus far.

This is the most idyllically suituated hotel on the North East coast of Mauritius and boasts a proud heritage in its many years of existence. Many of the guests are repeat visitors some as many as over the past 30 years and all are pleased to be here. The Food was above average although the buffet menue could do with some creativity and overhaul to more modern lines. Drinks are OK but the entertainent and service is outstanding.

The hotel is a bit tired in terms of decor and a serious upgrade and renovation is necessary to get it to match its location. Having a lagoon and a beach means that watersports are the best. The resident band is outstanding and world class and they were the highlight for us of the trip.

Absolute Disaster 0 star resort!!!

I have stayed in resorts all over the world and this was absolutely the worst resort and experience of my life. The staff went out of their way to completely sabotage or holiday! They could not get anything right from dinner reservations to messing up excursions! They sent us 2 hours across the island when we got to destination the hotel had messed up the timing and our reservation was canceled. So we had another 2 hour ride back for nothing and they still made us pay for the transport which was not cheap!? The staff in particular the management was not helpful at all. The staff would make mistakes and they would try to blame the guests for their own incompetence! They were rude, aggressive and disrespectful! First time ever I was glad the holiday was over!!! And almost forgot the air conditioning doesn't work and the beer is warm all the time!!! 0 Stars!!!

The hotel was wonderful and the staff attentive, warm and friendly and always smiling. The welcome and farewell drinks were a nice touch, as well as the specifically prepared welcome and farewell dinner menus. The environment was extremely relaxing. The food was fantastic and there was a wide choice of dishes. The checking in and checking out processes were smooth. The room was very comfortable, light and airy and clean. The complimentary gifts were a nice surprise. Would definitely recommend this hotel and I am looking forward to my next visit!

Dreadfully disappointing. Understand that this hotel is closing under the guise of One & Only which perhaps explains the poor service, aggressive up-selling of extras, total lack of management visability, poorly maintained beach, rental bikes in awful condition etc
A large sign in the room says \"complimentary soft drinks in mini bar\". After the first day we get a bill for circa £75 which included a half bottle of wine we did not drink, bottled water (not actually free) and some fruit juices (not actually free).When we complained we were told the bottle of warm water (too big to fit in mini bar) was free, coke and sprite ! In addition at dinner we asked for but were refused a jug of iced water \" it is our policy to charge for water at meal times\". A small bottle of water costs £4.50 and in addition the staff make sure that they pour it as quickly as possible so that you have to buy another, and another. They also did this with wine which when you have paid £80 for a bottle is unacceptable.
To eat anywhere other than the buffet restaurant we were told was a supplement of 20 euros. Guess what - its actually an allowance of 20 euros which gets you about half a starter.
We asked to see a manager on several occasions and never saw anyone of any seniority.No doubt they will be falling over themselves to reply to this review.TOO LATE!
One & Only you should be ashamed to allow this to happen under your watch!

Almost excellent with just a few flaws

This is a top-class establishment, where attention to detail is what they're about. They offer an extremely personalised service and make you feel very welcome and special. Unfortunately there were quite a few small things that didn't go right on our trip (such as waiting for 45 minutes for our luggage to be delivered to our room after we'd just had an overnight flight from London, and having to ask a number of times for water to be refilled in our room), however, the overall impression is extremely positive. Their cocktails are superb, unlike the food which we really found to be sub-par. On the positive side, the setting is wonderful, the seclusion is great, the watersports are fine and the overall environment is fabulous. An excellent pool and wonderful service throughout.

Another quick gripe is about the kids club, which really wasn't up to much and we ended up not having our kids go in there at all.

Great romantic getaway

The hotel is located in one of the most beautiful spots on Earth. The various views of the sea and surrounding landscape are simply indescribable. The hotel gave a perfect site for a romantic trip with the best destination spa I've experienced beyond Thailand. The service can seem oppressively helpful at times- I prefer to carry my own plate from the buffet to my table and to use the same towel throughout my pool or steam trip instead of demanding a new one after each dab of my forehead. Only other piece of advice is to take a taxi to the resort. The roads are not easily navigatable, especially at night and Mauritius maps are essentially useless. Besides those bumps, this hotel is top in the Indian Ocean and provides perfect environs for total relaxation once you reach it.

LSG revisited

I haven't been to Le Saint Géran (LSG) for ten long years since the era of Gerard Sintes who was an extremely charming and capable inn keeper. So last week's visit (just two nights) for a spot of R&R was overdue and I was fearful that it would be a disappointment. I need not have worried! The grande dame of the Indian Ocean was still her civilised and gracious self. The décor, which I gather has been recently refreshed, looks not much different from when LSG was re-opened following her last major refurb in 1999. But the key factor which makes this a truly exceptional property are the hospitality and warmth of its staff, many of whom have been there for years. Now that's a real litmus test of how good a property is!

3 days in paradise

My husband and I spent 3 days at the One and Only St Geran. We had an Oceanview Suite. The entire property is breathtaking. Starting with the lobby with its open view of the ocean, flanked by a meandering stream complete with carp, ducks and waterfalls.

Check in was smooth with cool towels, fruit juice and warm smiles. The suite itself is massive, beautifully furnished with airy terraces overlooking the lawns and ocean. A 9 hole golf course, water sports centre a lagoon for kayaking, what more could you ask for.

Every morning we were woken up with birdsong and a gentle breeze. The sea was cool and clean, the sand like sugar and the service impeccable.

Breakfast by the pool and ocean with a wide choice of fruit, cereal and two smiling lady chefs turning out every type of egg dish you wanted.

The night before we left we were given a farewell dinner with specially prepared main course. The day of departure we had a farewell breakfast where we were seated at a special table right by the ocean and made to feel like a honeymooning couple. This was wonderful as most other hotels want to ease you out as quickly as possible.

We will be back for sure.

The hotel deserves the 5 star rating, but I am not sure that it deserves the \"one & only\" title. There is not much distinctive in the offered accommodation or service, compared to other similar resorts. The expectation of extraordinary was not met. The room (a junior suite) was average. However, the overall satisfaction is OK.

I have stayed in hundreds of hotels, this was the best overall experience of any hotel, anywhere. The activities, the staff and the general organisation from the welcome at reception to the final goodbye drink were superb. And everyone knew our names, it impressed my wife, and that is a feat. We paid for half board and had a very good experience with the food. Drinks a little on the expensive side, as was the spa, but the best massage ever and the quality of the wines excellent. 3 days additional costs came to less than $1500. Worth it.

A poor example of what Mauritian hotels can offer

Having stayed in 4 other superb Mauritian hotels (The Residence, Heritage and two which used to be Niaide resorts) this one was a huge disappointment. It is far more expensive than others with far very average service and very mediocre food (which went down to bad at lunchtime). Drinks prices were extortionate even for this type of hotel with OJ costing £7 at lunch for a small glass or £11.50 for mixed fruit juice in the spa area. The pool is designed to be a nice location for eating dinner beside and so with all the dining tables set up there were only 7 sun-beds poolside for lounging during the day which we found incredible for a large so called 5 star hotel (which is where we'd rather normally spend our holiday time rather than on the beach where beach sellers come).
The pluses were the free watersports and nice music each night but the food really did let the place down in a big way and for the extra cost we expected something even better than we'd experienced before but instead got something far inferior.
This hotel was a recommendation from someone who'd stayed there before when this hotel was twinned with Le Touessrok and we can only assume it is still trading on its previous reputation as it did not live up to our expectations.

Fundamentally flawed

The hotel is in a beautiful location but there are some big flaws. First the pool is not set up for any adult to actually swim in it. There are no chairs set up around the pool so basically there are a bunch of kids in the pool the entire time. This is a huge problem because the restaurant and bar are set up around the pool side. You try to relax over lunch or have a drink and there are a bunch of kids shouting, screaming and splashing. This is a horrible set up.

The other major issue is the the main restaurant only has a buffet option at b'fast and most dinners. For someone who doesn't like a buffet this is a terrible set up. They need to have different options.

I was really disappointed by the hotel and surprised that a brand like The One & Only would allow for these type of mistakes.

we travelled in mid Sept, which is the end of winter, beginning of summer Temp high 20's and windy. As a result hotel at half capacity.
Fantastic hotel, recommended by a Mauritian friend, with superb service without exception. Rooms very comfortable. Ladies will adore the walk in wardrobes of the Junior suites.
Wonderful beach with unobtrusive service. Spa excellent. Good watersports facility (all incl)
Gym small but equipped to a high standard with well trained instructors. Great runs along the beach.
Went half board. Breakfast very good with abundance of fresh fruit. Dinners were good, with abundant buffets. Wine expensive. Cocktails varied and expertly mixed. Live band each night showed no lack of enthusiasm for the classics.
Not an ultramodern hotel, but this is a beach holiday. We did not venture far from the hotel.
We went to relax and this hotel and succeeded. Highly recommended.

The only slight grumble is that the bed creaked every time either myself or my wife moved in the night, which kept us awake. Do not let this put you off, this hotel is Idyllic!

Heaven on Earth

Well what can you say that basically every other visitor comments on? The whole experience is just delightful, very welcoming, constant attention to making sure that stay is a pleasant as possible. Staff without exception are friendly, smiling and courteous.
Yes it’s not cheap, but we took the advice of others and brought wine and spirits with us, like so many others that stay here, it was our honeymoon. Champagne on arrival, and also in the room.
We were on half board, but for one night, they also gave us a voucher for dinning in the Rasoi restaurant, they even printed down our own menu, created especially for us.
entertainment is first class, the nine piece band is outstanding, and playing also most anything you wish to ask for. The weekend we arrived was very busy, but we found no problem getting sun beds, which are made up for you with towelling covers, plus beach towels, in addition we always had free bottles of water brought to the room and down by the sun beds, plus fresh fruit. The water Skiing, hobby cats, canoeing, and water boats to reef are all free, and we saw no queues at all when we were there. If you want to be picky, then the only complaint was that breakfast was sometimes cool, they seem to struggle keeping things hot, and also the birds that constantly try to get food from your plate, mainly in the morning.
They really do need to try and find some method of getting rid of the these pests, as there are considerable numbers flying in and out of the place

definitely going back there

went there on our honeymoon, excellent service, very welcoming and wonderful staff. We were well looked after right from check in to even after check out. The rooms are very clean and luxurious, we had a sea facing room but all rooms have an excellent view. The butler service is unique and very prompt and the nightly turn down service is superb. As a honeymoon offer they provided us with 2 bottles of champagne and a honeymoon bath, both of which were free of charge.

The hotel has an excellent beach service and the unlimited water sports/snorkling/tennis/table tennis/ DVD library and bike rental on site.

Prime, their grill restaurant, serves food that is to die for. Restaurants are a bit pricey but then this is a 5 star hotel and worth it.

Best bit of all is the staff right from manager to the cleaners who are all very courteous and helpful. They even offered us bottles or water/drinks after we checked out for our trip to the airport. At the airport, on our way back, we were met by the hotel's representative who showed us to the airline desk and then onto emmigration (this was not asked for and was a nice personal touch).

Highly recommended and look forward to going there again.

5 star hotel in a nice natural setting, 2 star food, 3 star service.

Hotel is dated and was surprised it is a 5 star hotel. There were a number of children which I could not understand why they were there during term time. The food was the same almost every day. The birds come and feed on the breakfast so be careful regarding hygeine. The dinners were 3 star if that. The rooms were ok but needs to be renovated. Plenty of better hotels such as the Maurice or Four seasons. The staff can be overwhelming and a bit too much in your face which is what I was not expecting. Some peace and quite is what I paid for but every staff member said hello at every point. The spa was riduculously expensive (we paid £135 for a pedicure but I would have not paid £10 for it !!!!). 200ml coke was £5 each . The hotel was a rip off and would not say it was somewhere I would call \"really special\" which was disappointing. The hotel does have a good vibe and the staff mean well. The food was not good.

I would not return unless things changed dramatically. I would recommend Long Beach, Prince Maurice or the Four Seasons (very private but no atmosphere) depending what you are after.

The Four Seasons had the best restaurants but they are about £50/£60 per head at least.

One & Only Le Saint Geran - Perfection!

Best place I have ever stayed and there have been a few that were right up there. Service is amazing. Only negative is expensive drinks ... use the local shops to stock up at a fraction of the price.

Service at its best

Le Saint Geran is pure luxury and no detail goes unnoticed. There's no need to leave the resort with all the offerings on-site: beach, pool, tennis, biking, gym, yoga, water skiing, golf, bar, spa treatments, and a large selection of delicious food to suit every palate.

A perfect week

From the moment we were greeted at the airport by a pre-arranged car service to the moment we left, the One & Only St Gerain experience was outstanding. The service all-around was excellent. Better than anywhere else we've stayed. A welcome refreshment on arrival, beautiful well-maintained grounds, junior suite that was better than on the website, 5 tennis courts, kayaking, snorkeling, yoga, pilates, boat rides, croquet, golf initiations (not lessons), steam, sauna, great gym with power plates, Kinesis, good treadmills, quiet lap spa pool, spa refreshments, fitness cookies, etc. are all included. Fresh cold towels after you emerge from anything are just part of the wonderful service. Food was amazing. Healthy options too, and amazing ceviches every evening (among a long list of other delicious foods). We were half board, which was more than ample. We didn't even eat lunch most days. Drinks, however, are on the expensive side (London fine restaurant prices), but I was using this as a fitness holiday so didn't mind. Kevin, who greeted us at the airport and also helped us check in when we were leaving, and Ashwin at the tennis & rec center were particularly outstanding. Wonderful hotel, would highly recommend to everyone.

Dieses Hotel ist wirklich ein Juwel auf Mauritius. Es ist in jeglicher Hinsicht perfekt. Das Personal ist äußerst freundlich und sehr gut geschult. Das Hotel hat einen wunderschönen Strand. Man kann sogar den Sonnenuntergang sehen. Die Essensauswahl im Buffetrestaurant ist sehr gut. Es fehlt an nichts. Zum Frühstück gibt es jeden Tag einen anderen Smoothie und frisch gepresste Säfte. Wie der Name es sagt: es ist das One & Only

Juste merveilleux. Si le paradis existe, je pense qu’il se situe au One & Only Saint Geran. Service 6 étoiles, beauté du lieu, infrastructures haut de gammes, propreté, qualités des mets. Tout est juste parfait !
