Place was not clean, airconditioning unit started leaking and made floor wet. We requested an iron and took 5 hours to get it.
At first they told us breakfast was included but then charged us after we ate.

Staff were very friendly. The room was large and serviced daily.
My only complaint would be the swimming pool, it was under the 1st floor of rooms and open to the outside , this encouraged blackbirds to fly in and settle on the pipes above the swimming pool. Not very healthy. Some netting around the open areas would have stopped this.

Not suitable for foreigners. Only Sri Lankan food at overpriced breakfast. Pool water cool as partly under a roof. My room was on the first floor next to the railway with horns blown throughout the night. Dress code bars shorts and slip on shoes in the restaurant/bar. This in the tropics!

Location is best........but the hotel is the worst

Booked for 2 nights and stayed only 6 hours. such a horrible hotel. small rooms, old worn furnitures, non-functional airconditioner. I repeatedly requested for change of room 3 times, no one bothered and therefore, at mid-night of the first day I had to abandon my room and moved to another classy hotel near by.

Short stay between tours

We stopped over in Colombo before a cycling tour for two nights. The staff are extra friendly and helpful and the included breakfasts were great. It is in a handy location for tuktuk tours but not a great deal to do nearby. It is opposite a railway line which is noisy during the day but ok at nigh. Access to the beach is over the two railway lines so you need to be careful. The beach has a lot of litter and is not recommended.
Our room was small and clean but the AC was too noisy. The shower flooded the bathroom floor as the bath had no lip and even if the curtain was placed correctly water still ran off the rimless bath edge.
Nice pool with a friendly attendant.
Lack of tourist info as it seems to cater mainly to locals?
Overall though a value for money hotel if you are not worried about being in the centre of town or in an upmarket hotel/resort

Excuse any typos please.

This property is located across the steet from the Sea with excellent customer service by all of the staff. I will definitely stay at Global Towers upon my return.

But I would be remiss of I did not tell you that you have ro lower your expectations as it relates to the rooms itself. I stayed in a Corner Suite... it was really outdated and the amenities provided were similar to an Inn in the U.S. No luscious towels, face towels must be requested, and upon check-in, room was not really cleaned well. Although the bed in my oplnion was comfortanle, it did not seem like the sheets were even 100 thread count.

But even with that said, the staff is willing to quickly corrext any issue that you may have. I am missing them already. The Bar Chillax fits its name. If you are on a budget, this is an EXCELLENT choice for a hotel. If you have unlimited amount of funds my suggestion is to only choose one of the 5 star hotels because this probably will still be like a 4 Star Hotel.

If I rated this hotel on condition of the hotel and room, I would give it a 2.5 Stars. If I rated it on location and cuztomer service, I would give it a 5 Star. It is not in the mix of everything but easy to get to the central location.

Lastly, If you are facing the Sea, you will definitely hear the train all night.

Enjoy yourself in Sri Lanka!!!

Ok for one night but probably wouldn’t stay there again.
We paid $72 for what was quite a small room, with a strong (i would guess moth balls) smell.
Hot water ran out after few minutes, not ideal when it’s more than one traveller.
Right opposite a beach where you could swim but isn’t to lay on and sunbathe, quite dirty (absolutely understand that’s not the hotel’s fault).
We visited their bar next door which was nice and also the fish restaurant across the road and rail tracks - totally superb!

Good location, good customer service especially at the restaurant and the receptionist also bell boys. Breakfast was ok but same selection everyday also reasonably priced
Toilets are not clean and especially no air freshener smell badly
Overall good for the money and all the transportation great location.

The staff takes great pride in welcoming their guests to the Hotel. Thereafter going into the room was a very disappointing. Room was in a awkward shape. No hair dryer, No fridge, the wash rooms were not up to standard,and the WiFi never worked. Like catching butterflies you have walk across the room to get the connections.
Have to be careful when you eat from the buffet, there are some items that you will be charged for and there is no sign posted. I was billed separately for the chicken. we were not advised when introduced to the buffet.
Location is good, close to the beach and other amenities.

Spacious but not luxurious

The large 3 bedroom apartment that we had, with 3 balconies, was spacious and fairly practical, but the condition of the unit was not very good. The kitchen had no stove of any sort and few dishes or utensils so we never really cooked anything and just ended up getting room service most of the time. Bathrooms need a renovation. It was great that the unit had 3 bathrooms, but only one of them ever had hot water, which I don't understand. Service was good, WiFi was good but the location was not so great since the local beach is covered in garbage. If you need a large space at a low cost, this hotel may be what you need, but there is much room for improvement.

Food hygiene at the hopper shop is beyond standards. This affected two days of my business trip. This should be reported to food hygiene agency and find them

Pleasant stay and Helpful staffs!

We visited family who lives nearby and stayed in Global Towers for a week. Overall we loved everything! The staffs were really nice, helpful and friendly. We loved the attention to details the staffs had (even the housekeeping) and how they always asked if we neeeded anything. We added daily breakfast during our stay and we loved the variety of food they served everyday. Location was good, small pool and gym but it was good as well. The overall value that we paid was worth it! Definitely will return to stay there again when we visit Colombo next time.

Nice hotel close to the beach

The check-in was not smooth as expected. We have specifically asked for a king bed. As per my booking confirmation it was agreed but was not honored despite making a special request to Operations Manager. The cleaning was good during first few days and later it was not properly cleaned. The breakfast was good and the reception staff were very courteous, especially the lady was very concerned about contentment of guests.

Pleasant stay for the money. Hotel was comfortable although the look and feel is dated. Incredible views of the seafront however. Good amenities and incredibly helpful staff. Only real complaint were the trains that tend to wake you, especially when they start rolling first thing in the morning.

NIce hotel in Wellawate, close to the beach.

I stayed 2 weeks over the New Year period. Hotel was very nicely presented from Christmas. Even when fully booked the hotel was very nicely run and service was very good. Staff were lovely. Price very reasonable. The food was nice and varied for different tastes. I would recommend to try this hotel.

Nice hotel, nice staff, and close to the beach.

I have stayed here 3 times in total - about 3 or 4 weeks. Lovely hotel with helpful and friendly staff. There is a pool, spa, foot therapy, restaurant and cafe and bar, and the beach is directly across the railway line.

It's a nice looking hotel but the little things let it down, the lock on main door was broken, the second door was fine, window in bathroom wouldn't close, TV had signal issues, nothing major just very ordinary for a big hotel. Reception was great, checked in 2hrs early no problem, breakfast was nice and the bar attached next door was good, with nice food and drinks in a lovely outdoor setting, very convenient for the train station

This hotel doesn't deliver all that it promises. No flat screen television, no in-room safe, no king size bed, high-priced food! The building is old-fashioned and badly needs an overhaul. Room and corridor cleanliness left much to be desired and there were no towels in the room. For the service provided it is greatly over priced.

The hotel is a very friendly staff with an OK restaurant OK pool and good location and is on Marine Road next to the beach. The rooms are dated but it does have full cable television HBO Cinemax etc. the big issue we found was that it sits next to a railroad track with very noisy trains going back and forth every 15 minutes loaded with passengers hanging out the doors and windows. A scene right out of Slumdog millionaire.

The noise of the train permeates through the night so sleeping becomes a little difficult unless you live in New York City and are used to the sirens 24 hours a day.

The area of the hotel is located is not the greatest but getting around is easy enough using Uber which is incredibly cheap. Forget the hotels limo or car service it's five times the price of Uber. So if you're looking for a cheap value with lots of room this is a good choice but don't expect too much. This is three-star at best

1st time bad experience since 8 yrs

I am a regular visitor to this property for last 8 yrs. Now things have turned worst. since no co-ordination amongst mangmnt things have gone bad. GM has quit and nobody to listen. Very Very bad experience and highly priced which is not worth.

A Bad Experience

We checked in about 8pm. The manager advised that he only had one room left. Originally we organised to stay for two nights. However we had only paid for one night and we checked out 9am the next morning. The bathroom was dirty, mould behind the door and all over the shower area. Ants were crawling over the sink. At 4am there were door slammings and loud voices and then again at 6am.
Never again would we stay at this hotel and recommend any one tempted to stay here check the room first.

No hot water for three days, Train line immediately outside with every train blasting its horn as it enters the station. Cleanliness is excellent however the hotel is in need of updating as very tired.

Okay place, but have constructions going on

I stayed there for a week in Nov 2015, and there were constructions on both the top floor and ground floor, so I had to ask them to change the room as the constructions at the ground floor continued to 2am. The staff told me when I changed the room that the top floor construction will last till the end of this year, so just be careful with the floor they give you.

Also check TV and hot water, the first room was with a TV that no one can use, the hot water was not hot enough even I waited for more than half hour.
The view was destroyed by the construction outside, which was a bit pitty.

Tried the traditional Sri Lankan breakfast in door, was nearly $950 LKR after taxes ($750 on the menu).

My suggestions would be:
Find a good floor, and check the water & TV, good luck with your stay.
It's very close to KFC, which is a plus by the way.

Room with a view

It is a very nice hotel with VERY friendly staff. Just look out of the window and you have this lovely view of the ocean. There are many good restaurants nearby and shopping is not far from here.
