The bathrooms were clean. Staff were friendly. My room had a shared balcony. The curtains could be thicker though. During day, the sunlight gets directly in my room. This hotel is located in a very convenient location. Easy access to major shopping malls, hospitals etc. i would say this is value for money!

I visited the property with my partner. Hotel is situated in the quite easy place to get in without any disturbance. The reception staff were attentive and they did the check-In speedily. my partner was delighted from their welcome drink and special thank for that. however our first impression about the hotel was ok. And special thanks for Mr.Rajapaksha who has accompanied us to our room and provided information about the property. However, the hotel is consist with Indian Menus with limited options. we really faced a difficulty to order our food. however the plus point is my partner got delighted. Thanks GSH!

The convenience of travel and the extremely helpful staff. Two names to be mentioned the room boy Kapila and the Concierge Raja. Raja is the most efficient and friendly concierge we have met with in all our travels in Europe, America and Asia.
On the downside is the noise from buses at early hours of the mornings.

Unable to set the air conditioning unit. Very cold even when set to 21 degrees. Needs resetting. Unable to fully open shower door. Only about 6 inch space to get in and out. WHB clash with door. One has to squeeze to get in and out

GSH Colombo is at a great location close to shop and transports. It is along the main road, but no outside noise disturbance and we had a peaceful goodnight sleep. The twin room is reasonably good in size and equipped with the modern amenities, comfortable bed and some accessories are resonantly replaced with new ones. Bathroom is big, neat and tidy. Aircon was perfectly working. As they mentioned in their hotel details, we have been provided with tea, coffee, kettle, minibar, soap Shampoo, ironing ect…. Room service was very pleasing, and the executive housekeeper was caring and always in assistance. Wi-fi connection was given. Hotel provides 24 hours reception help desk and fulfilled whatever we requested sending it to our room. The few times we travelled to other part of Sri Lanka, they made us very comfortable taking care of our bags and the officer in charge of bags helped a lot when we move in out of the hotel and to transport. It was very pleasing. Hotel checking in and out was excellent.

A fully renovation is needed urgently
Hair dryer, dust bin pedal not working.
Curtains are very dirty, should be change.
Reception staffs are very very good and helpful. Almost all the staffs are very good and kind. We yearly visit there and stay over one month , so we have noticed the standard is going down . Administration must look into this and make some improvements very soon.
WiFi is very very limited. But they mentioned in their website it is unlimited.
Sometimes a bad smell coming from the bathroom hope staff will look into this.
We spray detail liquid in the bathroom to get rid of this smell.
Overall administration have to look into this and make the necessary improvements early as possible
All the staff are excellent.

Worth a stay but not the best

If you want to stay in Wellawatta, near Galle road and shopping, this is the place to be. Acceptable room size and washroom. Not much amenities in the hotel other than Indian style food. I found it clean.. Worth for the money but may not be the best in that area. I would rate 3 star or less. Friendly staffs.

I have stayed at this hotel before, and must say that the staff was excellent, however I was very disappointed with the food that was offered by the restaurant called Punjabi Grill. There was all Indian food served in the morning and evening. I was expecting some Sri Lankan food to be served. The Chef Mr. Singh should be sent to school to learn to smile, the grumpiest chef I have even seen.
The Location was excellent and close to the beach and all other amenities. I will return back to this Hotel the next time Im in SL but will check before hand about the food.

When i booked the hotel i mentioned we 2 adults and 14years old child, on arrival we foundout there was only a single bed. When questioned greed to provide the third bed (folding one) and demanding upfront cash payments. I requested them to use the same card for the additional bed they refused and made me to pay by another card. Mony grabing exercise. Careful

We have stayed at this location several times. It is a nice place with nice rooms ... except for when it comes to the shower. Every room we have stayed in has a faulty shower. Very disappointing to say the least. lukewarm ... not hot water, also the main shower shuts off frequently... We even requested a room with a better shower this time ... They gave us a larger room, but shower conditions still the same. So if you don't care about taking a nice shower ... this is a great place.

Perfect Location for a Great Price

Our flight was at 3 in the morning so instead of waiting at the airport we booked a room at the GHS for the day. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff helped us get a taxi to the airport and we had a comfortable stay. The street outside the hotel was busy and vibrant. Lots of food and shops. A lovely location.

Quite surprised at comfort and facilities in the room. Lovely bathroom. Rooms are not that large but as a solo traveller that was not an issue. Buffet Breakfast was okay, nothing very special and I regretted that the hotel only provides nescafe rather than percolated coffee. Locality is animated and lively with plenty of cheap eateries.
