We’d booked a suite with separate rain shower and bath but were offered only a duplex, with bedroom and bathroom upstairs. It had no separate rain shower but only a very high-sided bath with a hand-shower above. As a couple in our 70s, we could not have accessed the shower. We were told that there were no other suites available and if we wanted a walk-in shower, we would need to downgrade our room despite paying for a suite. When we protested, it was conceded that the ‘honeymoon suite’ was available which we were given. The hotel boasts ‘comfort and opulence’. However, the décor in general is looking quite jaded and in need of major refurbishment. The rooms have floor-to-ceiling blinds, which do not always work smoothly and let in copious amounts of light day and night. There are no curtains. The noise from the busy road on which the hotel is located is quite significant and was aggravated by the fact that, on all three nights we stayed, the hotel hosted events lasting from early evening until late. The music from these could be heard quite loudly. Preparation for the events also put the breakfast restaurant and pool and spa areas under constant use from the time that the breakfast service stopped, so were not pleasant to relax in. The best aspect of the hotel by far was the staff and the quality of service they provided. They were warm, friendly and always willing to help. The breakfasts (included in our rate) were also excellent, as was the service in the restaurant.

This was our first stop in Sri Lanka. The location was excellent, super close to the city centre but in a slightly quieter part of town, close to great restaurants, cafes and shops. The team were extremely friendly, caring and accommodating. The room was sizeable and the shower was incredible. Would highly recommend !

The hotel's IT system has been compromised. Three times before our arrival I received WhatsApp messages directing me to a website for payment (the scammers had my name, phone number and hotel booking with dates). I also used IT security program McAfee while staying at the hotel scanning the hotel's WiFi, with the result being that the hotel's WiFi was NOT safe, so we ended up using data while staying in the hotel. Staff was very courteous, but some of them quite new so our breakfast order was wrong twice. Cleaning of the room was OK but we found a previous guest's socks. When we checked in we found that the balcony door was open which is not good since there are mosquitos around. In the bathroom, there is a mesh (not a window) to the outside, which unfortunately lets in mosquitos.

It was very acceptable for the price. The attendants in the restaurant were awesome. I went Scuba Diving earlier than regular breakfast hours and they were great to assist me with an earlier than normal breakfast. Overall the service was very good. And everyone tried. I didn’t like being asked to contribute $2 a day for environmental purposes as soon as I arrived. I was asked for my passport and then asked to donate money. Started me off on a sour note.

Room was great. The hotel facilities are ok, but not excellent. Pool is fine, though small. The gym is tiny. Restaurant is ok. A bit too expensive for the food they offer. I stayed twice at this hotel. The first time, I got a very noisy room and I was given a different room the second time, which was not noisy. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Overall, I wouldn't mind staying there again.

Enjoyable stay...small hotel...30 plus rooms..great pool with good f/b choices. Affordable pricing. Located in the business district but with alot to see and do. \"Downtown\" can b a little pressuring with tuk tuk pricing but where the hotel is located thats not the case. Great staff...Hanfal and Dushan in front office and Thushava,Dinesh,Sanoj and chathuranga in F/b deserve a mention. If yr not looking for a traditional 4/5 star hotel...i wud highly recommend this Hotel.

The oasis in Colombo

I stayed at the Colombo Court Hotel & Spa December 23 - 25, 2019. The hotel is in a nice area of Colombo and not far from some major shopping areas. The hotel itself is very welcoming with lush vegetation, water features, artistic ambiance, and most importantly a very well-trained and friendly staff.

My room was very spacious and comfortable. The amenities were perfect. Besides the accommodations, there is a lovely poolside restaurant, as well as a spa. I had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner with multiple courses. The chef and kitchen staff prepared an amazing selection of very delicious and well-presented courses.

The following morning I checked-out of the hotel before 5AM in order to make it to the airport to catch a morning flight. My company iPhone accidentally got left behind at the Colombo Court Hotel & Spa. The manager contacted me immediately once they found my lost iPhone and worked to get it back to me. The iPhone arrived in a couple days after some required paperwork, traveling halfway around the world from CMB to SIN-KIX-MEM-IAH... I felt so grateful to have it back, a gift was ordered for delivery to the hotel staff.

If you are considering travel to Colombo, Sri Lanka... I would make this your first choice. Bravo to the management and staff at the oasis in Colombo.

Friendly staff, nice bar, lovely pool, all right in the city about an hour from the airport. All good.

Cannot compliment this hotel enough. Excellent staff, always smiling and helpful. After 61/2hr bus trip the staff ensured we were comfortable. So much we stayed in and ate at the Scarlet room. Also Sri Lankan and western breakfast excellent. Late night flight to Australia so the hotel stored our bags and allowed us to use the pool and spa shower before we left for the airport.

We had a good time at Colombo court. It was the last stop of our holiday, and the staff were really helpful. Great food too. However, we went in the plunge pool & jacuzzi and my friend and I both got several cuts on our feet and toes from the tiles. (I got 20 cuts in total) We sorted it ourselves at the time with our first aid kits and thought it was just an accident, but looking back we realise that the pool shouldn't be this dangerous, especially since it happened to 2 of us. The hotel was great and lovely staff, so I'm sure they'll sort it, and I'd still recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Colombo, but this did ruin our visit a little bit.

A quiet oasis in a busy city

We were most impressed with Colombo Court Hotel, particularly the staff, always attentive and helpful throughout our stay. Whilst the pool is small, it was very welcome, especially in the morning. The poolside bar gave the option of cool drinks and enjoyable food and the restaurant, whilst not well supported, provided us with an enjoyable meal on one night of our stay. The \"happy hour\" in the loft bar was very welcome and drinks on the roof, after dark were pleasant. Summing up, a quiet oasis, made so much more pleasurable by a very enthusiastic and friendly staff.

An ok hotel. Spacious, comfortable rooms but facilities are not great. Things in the room didn’t work including TV. Pool area could do with a clean and is very noisy from the main road.

Staff were friendly and helpful. There is also a nice bar and rooftop bar.

I was disappointed in the hotel considering we paid so much for it.

Delightful pool but slightly difficult access to it.
Handy for eating at Geoffrey Bawa’s Gallery Cafe.

A nice hotel, but let down by the staff.

Our stay here was a mixed bag - there was some good and some bad. We stayed here at the beginning and ending of our trip, once in a deluxe room and once in the honeymoon suite (which I think also doubles up as the presidential suite, etc.).

Pros:
The hotel is in a nice area of Colombo, has a nice environment, and the staff were friendly. I thought the wrought iron sculptures were a very nice touch.

Cons:
- There were a few cockroach encounters in the hallways (but none in the rooms). .
- The water temperature, when set to warm, came out at a temperature veering wildly between ice cold to boiling hot. Not knowing whether the water coming out was about to be delivered directly from a lava field or glacier made it a little hard to enjoy the ambience of the (admittedly very nice) bathtub.
- The hotel bookings are made in USD, but we were charged in our local currency using DCC (direct currency conversion, a popular scheme to make a little more from you). I've stayed at a lot of hotels, and many offer the option to convert the charge into a local currency for you (at very unfavourable rates). While any savvy traveller will decline this, this is the first time a hotel has refused to opt us out of this. I tried to get the bottom of why several times, with various (untruthful) reasons given, before giving up.

All in all, I'd say a very good hard product was let down by terrible service policies. Overall I'd give it 2.5/5, but as whole numbers are required, 2/5.

Lovely boutique hotel in a great location

Loved it. They upgraded me on check-in to a beautiful room and living room. The bedroom even had a large apple computer and a deep soaking tub. The service was really good and I loved the pool and all of the cozy seating areas. There are all sorts of shops in the area, including the famous Barefoot store, which I would highly recommend. The hotel arranged airport transfer for me at a much lower rate than the hotel that picked me up upon arrival. The best hotel experience I had in a 2-week trip to Sri Lanka.

From the welcome drink on arrival to the mango on the first evening everything about the hotel was fantastic. Staff were friendly, helpful and no issue was to small for them to resolve (not that we had any issues). The pool is lovely and a brilliant spot to relax aftet sightseeing. I've stayed in many places in Colombo but this by far outperformed some of the larger hotel chains. As we sit waiting for our taxi in the library room the courtyard is a world away from the hustle and bustle outside and I would recommend for anyone ending or beginning a holiday in Sri Lanka to stay here. We have loved staying here.

A charming step into the essence of Serendipity

A great place for the discerning traveler - the hotel is centrally located so combines the excitement and heat of being in the happening city, yet providing a secluded villa pool with exotic corners to lurk before planning the adventures of the next day. Great cocktail bar - and I thoroughly recommend the gutsy mint and ginger mocktail. Splendid and very genuine service from Front of House through to housekeeping and poolside. Interesting shopping nearby - Noritake on Duplication Road, Good eating at the Gallery and shopping on the Galle Road and easy striking distance of the 5 start hotels for further glamour.

Hidden Gem in Colombo

Wonderful stay at Colombo Courtyard in a suite. We are return customers and the consistency over time for service and cleanliness was well received. Pool was shaded in part and set in a lovely relaxing garden setting. Staff friendly and service is very good. Roof top bar, loft bar, restaurants, library, perfect room. All in all it was perfect.

Great urban Colombo escape

Really enjoyed our stay at this small, boutique-like hotel. Wonderful pool area. Late afternoon happy hour at the roof top bar.

Our room, 107, was very comfortable with a sliding door onto a small garden area. Unfortunately, there were too many plants to really sit outside.

The staff was excellent. One young man acted like he was our personal concierge.

Great value for a hotel that is about 15 minutes from the fort area.

We were right after 3 weeks travel round Sri Lanka and it was our final stop, in Colombo. We love this city and whenever we come to visit Sri Lanka we set Colombo for final point.
We chose Colombo Courtyard mostly basing on reviews and appraisals and to try sth different in CL.
And it was delightful. Everything about this place is spot on. No use to describe anything particular. If you r into boutique hotels this one is a must. Love.

Facilities solid, but questionable operations

The stay and facilities met our expectations, however had a terrible experience at check out where I was 'mandated' to pay an extra$90/person for New Year's Eve night when I did not opt in or partake in any New Year's Evening and clearly declined any participation. They insisted that I automatically agreed to it??? Just stating you personally want to make something mandatory and stating something is automatically happening with zero proof that it did is not honest and also illegal. The manager could not supply me with any proof that I was made aware of the charge or opted in. I showed my confirmation email and the booking on the website where it was never mentioned. I would not have stayed at this hotel if that was the case. Would not recommend conducting business with this hotel if this is how they operate. On top of it all, the back and forth at check out took 45 mins longer than I planned for and will nearly miss my flight which would be solely due to the hotel.

Please do something about the mosquitoes!

Staff was attentive and eager to please. We obtained a free upgrade to a suite that was tastefully decorated but were troubled by mosquitoes for most part of our stay because the en suite bathroom was naturally ventilated. Would be nice if the hotel provided bedroom slippers too.

Excellent quiet boutique hotel that met all our expectations. Ideal for a couple of nights before heading off on our travels.Small number of rooms ensured that you got individual attention. A free upgrade was most welcome.

Business hotel that misses the mark, but..

Stayed at CCY as an extension to a work trip. Great reception, record check in time.

Small room, though I couldn't complain. Great bed and enjoyed the constant warm shower.

Wifi did not work after 5:30 pm. When reported, the hotel promised to get back. But didn't do much.

The hotel faces Duplication Road which is as busy as Colombo's Galle Road. So expect a very noisy room and even louder bathroom. This could be addressed so easily with some soundproofing. The band playing at the rooftop bar was loud enough to be heard from my room without much effort. Can be distracting for a business traveller.

Will consider this place after some improvements these areas. I think if resolved, CCY can be among Colombo'S best business traveller focused hotels.

I really liked staying here (have stayed here before). The only thing- the fan and the air conditioning didn't really cool my room at all. Thankfully, it wasn't too hot when I do wish it would have been possible to get the temperature of the room less warm.
But the staff is warm, personable & very helpful. Additionally, the food at the hotel is pretty good.
