The size of the room was good-plenty of space for 2 people and luggage. I liked there was a full length mirror near the door plus a desk space with power, lighting and another mirror. The bed was comfortable but the bathroom was the only negative. The shower did not get very hot and the pressure was terrible. Amenities in the bathroom were basic- hand wash at the basin, showergel and shampoo only in the shower. In addition, there was only one sanitary bag and as the staff seemed to be predominantly male,
I had to ask and explain myself at reception and then again to housekeeping what I needed (both men who seemed very embarrassed once they understood what I was asking for).
Breakfast options were a good mix between Egyptian and western food. There is also an ATM inside the lobby.
Rooftop restaurant with good views but does not serve alcohol.

We stayed three nights at Novotel Cairo El Borg, and the experience was… memorable in ways both intended and not.

Breakfast was genuinely good — loads of variety and plenty of authentic dishes. Adults will love it. Kids and teens… less so, but that’s sort of the theme of the hotel.

The pool is small, mostly shaded, and apparently governed by strict water‑displacement laws. Getting in and out “too energetically” is discouraged because “too much water comes out.” So yes, swim gently.

There are two restaurants. The food is good, the service is glacial. The Italian restaurant has zero atmosphere, while the rooftop restaurant redeems itself with jaw‑dropping views — though you’ll have plenty of time to admire them while waiting for your order.

The location is great, but if you want sleep, book a Nile‑view room. We had an Egyptian wedding happening outside our window, complete with music, cheering, and the full celebration soundtrack until late. Lovely cultural experience… not so lovely when you need some sleep.

We booked a family room for four, which initially came with exactly one bed, an unmade sofa bed, and no bedding. To be fair, housekeeping fixed it quickly — but it does reinforce the point that this hotel is not built with families in mind.

And that brings us to the biggest issue: the constant supervision. Travelling with teens felt like being followed by museum guards convinced your children were about to smash an antique vase. Filling a water bottle in the gym - no

Terrible service and limited dining options. I received a text messaging 5 days prior to arrival demanding full payment ,otherwise, the reservation would be cancelled; this was not explained to me when I made the reservation. The hotel is located fairly near to the original Egyptian museum, however, there is little else to explore. The roof top restaurant is limited with choice and dry; the hotel does not serve alcohol, although there are plenty of nearby hotels offering alcoholic beverages. I booked a family room, there was no bedding for the children and we had to contact reception to add an additional bed. I received a very rude response. When I tried to check-out the hotel refused. The receptionist insisted that a colleague needed to check that there was no damage to the room - I was appalled. We finally checked out and we will not be booking again; there are much better hotels within the vicinity.

We stayed here 3 nights. The staff entered our room before our scheduled checkout time and moved our luggage into storage. Possibly a miscommunication. Unfortunately we were not at the room to correct it.

However when we spoke to the manager Osama he was rude and accused us instead of apologizing.

The breakfast was great though and open from 6:30 to 10:30. If you prefer good food over your personal belongings, this is a great place to stay.

The bathroom was very small. It was functional but might be a problem for a larger person. We only got lukewarm water in the shower. It wasn't an issue for us but might not work for someone who likes hot showers.

The staff was pushing us hard for a 5-star review on Google so I'm not sure how much to trust the ratings.

The hotel has a great location and very nice views, especially from the rooftop restaurant. However, the breakfast buffet was disappointing, and while the rooftop has a beautiful view, the food was just okay. The door cards were also frustrating as they often didn’t work properly. One disappointing experience was when I asked for water; the staff said okay but completely ignored my request until the next day when I complained. Overall, the view and emplacement are the main highlights, but the service and food need improvement

The rooms are old and they don’t have fridges so in the Cairo heat, you can’t even have a cold bottle of water. The staff at the desk told us there were no fridges available and that the one in our room was not a fridge but a box to “keep” temperature. The pool blasted very loud music and could not get away from people smoking.

Our family of 4 with kids enjoyed our 4 nights at the Novotel. We came off an exhausting 14 hour layover and were happy with our suite. We were in a nonsmoking room facing the Nile on the 3rd floor and although we could hear some noise, it did not bother us. The view was amazing, the service was excellent, breakfast was good and the kids slept well on the pull out couch. We had a delicious meal at the rooftop restaurant. I would definitely stay here again when back in Cairo.

This was a typical Holiday Inn / Hampton Inn type hotel. Typical hot buffet breakfast with lots of kids running around. The room was more modern and upscale than a Holiday Inn. The only thing that sort of 'stuck in my mouth' was having to haggle with their taxi/tour service on prices. (Prices are very high and when you gasp, they expect you to bargain them down.) That's the whole point of using their service is NOT to haggle. Use Uber.

The staff were very kind and courteous and spoke enough English to assist whenever we needed help. The hotel is starting to show its age a bit, but is still mostly well-maintained. Although the rooftop restaurant and the breakfast cafe were very good and convenient, it does feel a bit limited. The area outside the hotel can be a bit noisy at night, but my wife and I are used to sleeping in a loud environment. Overall, a pleasant experience.

This is a nice hotel and we enjoyed our stay here. The location is right by the Nile and across from a park.

Th rooms are decent size and clean. The elevators are fast and we didn't have to wait longer for them.

Service by the staff was prompt.

It had sweeping views of the Cairo skyline and the Nile river. The hustle and bustle of the city was all around but it still felt peaceful in the core and extremely safe. The staff were knowledgeable, welcoming & the views from the room were great. The hotel was clean and the bed was comfortable. All things that make for a nice stay in my opinion. A highlight for me was the daily breakfast and waking up that first morning it was the first time I realized this city needs to accommodate foreigners from all over the world. The options were accommodating to both a western and eastern pallet all at once. It was hard to not overeat as I wanted to make sure I had room for the culinary beast that I’d soon find Cairo to be.

The Property has some of the best views of the Nile river. On the other side of the river there are the Ritz Carlton, Hilton Ramses and Fourseasons etc. but they are facing west, so for the most part of the afternoon you cannot look out of the window from those hotels. Novotel has the river to the East, so you enjoy nice sunrise and the Evenings as well. You can see the river cruises pass by from 8pm to 11PM.

Hotel is amazing. Very good location making it easy to transport to different parts of the city.
Staff is friendly and amazing. Breakfast is of a nice quality and quantity.
The only thing that need to be improved is the men bathroom near the pool as it was locked and I end up using the woman bathroom instead , with my wife in the look out. Some of The gym equipment is outdated but that was not a big deal for me as I only used it once.
Will definitely stay again in Novotel and recommend it to friends and family.

The front desk staff are really weird, and they talk to customers in a super rude and messed up way. The receptionist even chased me to the elevator to yell at me and cuss me out. I don't even know what else to say, they're hands down the worst employees I've ever seen, except for the nice lady who works with those monsters. I give this hotel a zero rating. I did not like over charges . They put sodas and chocolates in the fridge, they didn’t tell me in the check in that you pay for it if you drink it or eat it . Other hotels they refill for you everyday for free . Whatever
This sodas and chocolates wasn’t worth 200 Pounds which is4$ . They charged me 1700 pounds which is 40$
. Also food in the roof cafe was really bad me and my wife had a food poisoning.

Perfect Service Hotel

The first room we entered wasnt what we expected so we went down to the desk and the staff manager Mohamed immediately helped us update our room to a much nicer one with a beautiful view on the river of Nile. The service was exceptional from all the staff during my stay there. And the food (tho sometimes expensive considering its egypt) was delicious. The only downsides we saw was the first rooms toilet, the cold pool, and that you have to pay a specific sum to eat at the terrace restaurant (1000 EGP on weekend days) but there are more than one restaurant to eat at there so for me it was definitely worth it and if I had time I would've stayed there for another night.

The fire alarm rang 3 times during my stay, but receptionists said this was \"like training and so on\".
However, there was no notice for it. I guess there seemed to be something wrong with the fire alarm system.
Therefore, I asked them to inspect it.
When I checked out, I asked the reason, but they said that I didn't know anything.
I was really disappointed with their dishonesty.

A week prior to booking in we contacted the Hotel directly and through Expedia and requested for both our rooms to be next to each other and we were informed that if it is possible they will try and accommodate.
Once we arrived at the hotel at 2.00am they did not even have a room reserved for us and the staff at the desk called Osama and his work colleague try to cover up by lying and saying that we are trying to do you a favour by providing you with a sea view room Junior Suit, they tried to squeeze us in 1 room and wanted my son who is 4 years old, 7 months old child, 8 years old child and my mother who is above 50 to squeeze in 1 room with 1 Bathroom which does not lock and the room does not lock therefore as a couple sharing a room with his mother did not have any privacy.
On our second day we were informed to come back to the room at 15.00 and we would be allocated a room which disturbed our itinerary and we had to cancel a few of the tourist attractions that we wanted to see. Once we arrived at the hotel at 15.00 we had to wait for another 2 rooms to be allocated to us. This wasted a lot of our time
The Tea and coffee amenities never used to be updated regularly.
During our stay Yehya even informed me to pay some sort of tax which I had to inform him that we have paid online therefore we should not be paying here.

Check-in was a bit chaotic with 20+ guests in reception. We were dealt with fairly quickly but surprised by the government tax of 50 EP per person per night (30 EP = £1). The 7th floor room was clean, spacious and very comfortable, with a large TV, 2 showers and a bath. The view from the bedroom windows was immense, overlooking The Nile. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty with hot and cold choices.

The ONLY bad point, which did impact on our stay, was that at the top of the outside car ramp there were automatic retractable bollards. On our first evening we returned from an evening Nile Cruise and as we walked down the ramp the bollards raised without warning (no lights and no sounder) and tripped my partner who tumbled to the floor and badly cutting her shin and knee. The first aid service at the hotel was VERY POOR and we doubt that the first aider had any first aid training whatsoever. His idea of first aid was putting an alcohol wipe over the open cut and sticking it down with a 10cm wide plaster roll. My partner was in severe pain at this point and we asked the first aider to leave and return with a plaster (band aid) that I applied myself. When we checked out reception asked if we enjoyed our stay and I said yes except for the dangerous accident (they never said another word other than \"goodbye\"). We expected better than that from Novotel.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed with our one night stay at the hotel. We had booked all non smoking rooms and initially were put on a smoking floor . The hotel does not clearly advertise that they are a “dry” hotel. The rooms were not as clean as we expected. After complaining the staff went out of their way to move us to a non smoking room . But would not stay here again
