Aurum The River Place has one of the best locations in Bangkok, right by the river with a stunning view of the Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun). The breakfast is excellent, and enjoying it while looking out over the river and the temple makes it even more special. The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming—they treated us like family during our stay. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Bangkok who wants a beautiful view, a delicious breakfast, and warm hospitality.

Loved it all. This hotel was on a quiet street, by the river and the metro stop is close by. If you only have a short time to stay, all the big attractions were conveniently within walking distance. Breakfast was lovely each morning on the river overlooking the wats and a vegetarian option was available and delicious. Pan was the best. She made an effort to help answer questions and helped call transport. For a view or partial view, ask for an odd number room I would stay again!

Overall, I had a pleasant stay, but there was one problem that affected my experience
I paid 7,960 baht for two nights.
The building is a bit old, but I actually liked the atmosphere. The café next door has a beautiful river view, the breakfast was wonderful, and the staff were friendly. However, I chose this room specifically because it had a balcony.
I am a smoker, and I always book a room with a balcony so I don’t need to go outside the building every time I smoke. Unfortunately, the balcony door in my room did not open at all, even though I paid extra for this feature.
When checking out, I kindly asked if anything could be done regarding this issue. I explained to Ms. Pan that since the balcony was unusable, I had to keep going up and down whenever I wanted to smoke. After 11 p.m., the front door is locked, which made it even more inconvenient. Instead of addressing the issue, she simply said, “Smoking is bad, you should stop smoking,” which was not the response I expected in this situation.
She then told me that they could not do anything because I booked through the Expedia app. However, the balcony door being stuck is clearly a hotel issue, not mine. I booked—and paid for—a balcony room, yet I could not use the balcony at all.
Ms. Pan was polite, but I felt she guided the conversation toward what she wanted rather than addressing my actual concern. Also the young lady came in to room to check what she can do but Pan js talks..

I had such a lovely stay! Such a quaint little place, clean rooms and very attentive staff, especially Pan. She was was there each day doing a little bit of everything from ushering me to my room upon check-in, to bring me breakfast by the side of the river in the morning to waiting with me to be sure my taxi arrived. I had booked a room with partial river views and to my surprise it even had a small balcony. Everything was just perfect. I would definitely stay again!

Great boutique hotel.
This is an excellent boutique hotel. It is on the waterfront in old town Bangkok. The lady that runs the desk on the days i was there is incredibly nice and very helpful. The room was smaller but very comfortable and well laid out. We also got free breakfast whoch was an ample start to the day with a western style breakfast or thai style.

This is a hidden gem with a river view and close to amazing temples, boat tours, the ferries and the Grand Palace. We had an amazing stay here and highly recommend it. The location is perfect - close to everything yet on a quiet street.

I stayed here three nights for visit to Bangkok then departed for pattaya. The best part of this hotel is the staff. Ms Pan… was fantastic. The breakfast was good all three days. The hotel is near the water .. no views of wat arun. I really wanted a night time view or even day time view of wat arun or the river. The hotel itself is very clean but older. I think the price is good value $105 a night for king sized bed and breakfast . But no good view of river or wat arun. I left Bangkok and stayed at lebua which was old and overpriced and finally found a great hotel called the standard in Bangkok which was my favorite!

The staff went above and beyond to make our stay with them seamless for exploring Bangkoks many activities, food, and Wats. Even our driver to and from the airport was set up easily with the staff even though we had to leave at 3am for the coast our last day. Absolutely will come back. We love you Pan!

This a very good small hotel near all the major tourist attractions in Bangkok. Wat Pho - which is arguably the best temple in Bangkok- is a 3 minute walk away and it’s close to a subway station and a river pier. The staff are friendly and the breakfast is eaten on a terrace next to the river with great views

This is a great family-run hotel overlooking the river opposite Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) within walking or tuk-tuk distance of Wat Pho and the Grand Palace. Also close to underground and river boat services. Very hospitable, friendly service. Clean, well maintained rooms and excellent breakfast in the hotel’s own open air cafe on the river bank. Brilliant value for money.

Homely Hotel Close To Historic Sites
The hotel had a wonderful at-home feel. The room with river view completely met our needs: clean, tidy, cold air conditioning and a lovely bath. We received a warm welcome when checking in and were given great advice on historic places to see in the old town. We stayed four nights and enjoyed every moment of it. The breakfast beside the river was delightful! And there was a choice of English and Thai breakfasts. We tried both, and they were delicious. We particularly loved the Thai breakfast that was served with chilled butterfly flower water. We can’t recommend this hotel highly enough, and being walking distance to all of the historic sites, it made for exciting days exploring. Thank you to the hotel team for everything they did to make our stay enjoyable.

Good value hotel for a central stay if wanting to visit the grand palace area of Bangkok. A small very quiet hotel with a lovely view of Wat Arun when you have breakfast. Breakfast is good, not a big buffet style but suited us , cereal, toast, cooked English and fruit but the best thing about this hotel is it is VERY CLEAN and all staff but especially PAN are welcoming and very thoughtful and helpful she cannot do enough for you. We would stay again if visiting.

The Aurum was the perfect lowkey spot along the river to relax in Bangkok. It is quiet and clean and provides a perfect respite near the temples to escape the heat. It is within walking distance to Wat Pho and to the MRT subway line to get around town and to Chatuchat Weekend Market. Pan, the lovely hostess, saw that I was a woman traveling alone and looked after me with a watchful eye. Breakfast was included and served at outside tables along the river with a beautiful view of Wat Arun. They also arranged a taxi to the airport. Will definitely stay here again!

We were so happy we chose Aurum The River Place for our stay in Bangkok. The location in Old Town was perfect! Wat Arun is located directly across the river and accessible via a very inexpensive ferry ride. Once at Wat Arun you can catch a hop-on/hop-off ferry to many other stops (Chinatown, IconSiam mall, et cetera). The Grand Palace and Wat Pho (reclining buddha) are also within walking distance of Aurum The River Palace. Lots of great food choices nearby. The included breakfast was excellent and served by Pan and her team at an adjacent riverside cafe every morning. This was a great choice for our first stop in Thailand! Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at Aurum The River Place. From the moment you walk in you are made to feel at home. Pam and her ladies are amazing. They provide the best customer service. Pam is always available to answer any and all questions and provides helpful information. The rooms are kept very clean. The breakfast is delicious. Our room was spacious and quiet. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. We had a great view from our balcony. Great showers. The hotel is centrally located. The hotel is less than 10 min walk to Metro Blue Line (use exit 5) and Rajinee Pier where you can get the hop on hop off ferry to Wat Arun, the Grand Palace, Khao San Road, IconSiam, Asiatique, and other places. It is on a quiet side street near the flower market which is lovely. Room was spacious with excellent A/C. Breakfast is at the adjacent cafe which is right on the river and nice for watching all the boat traffic, with a beautiful view of Wat Arun. The Thai Breakfast was excellent. Service at the hotel was outstanding. I would recommend this hotel if you don’t mind that the neighborhood isn’t “upscale” - it’s so convenient to transit and many things to see and do.

This was a fantastic place for our layover. The hotel's driver picked us up from the airport with no fuss, the lady that ran the place was incredibly kind and made us sandwiches to take to the airport the next morning. We stayed in room 201 which had a view of the river and large windows. We were able to walk to War Po temple for sightseeing and a fabulous restaurant for dinner which overlooked the Palace. Great position. Incredibly convenient. A great stay.

A charming hotel situated on the river in a quiet road but within easy reach of both a pier for river travel and the metro in addition to being close to the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. This hotel is very conveniently located to Wat Po, Wat Pra Kaew, and Wat Arun, so you can walk or ferry to all these major tourist attractions. The staff all speak English very well, and I loved the Thai breakfast that they offer every day. The best view of the river is from the breakfast area, I think if I stayed here again I wouldn't spend extra for a river view room as the view is mostly blocked by the building in front. But we had a lovely time and would stay here again!

The hotel was fine, but they have limited breakfast options. You pick what you want the day before off of a menu. Same stuff every day. The location was down an alley on the river. Not quite sure where they took the photos from, but you cannot see the view of the Wat across the river that they show. There's a big orange building in the way. It's very near Wat Pho, which was great, but that area isn't really touristy....very few nicer restaurants, and a lot of back alleys that smell of dried seafood (which is horrible).
On the good side, they are a short walk from a subway station, and the ladies that ran the place were EXTREMELY friendly...always smiling and willing to help. Once you walk in the front door, it's a 10/10 hotel. It's getting to the front door that's more of a 6/10.

Probably the best place to stay in Bangkok. Everything about the hotel is better than expected. Its a short walk to the Grand Palace, and Wat Pho and a short ferry ride across the river to Wat Arun (from alley Thanon Thai Wang) which starts from the corner of the Royal palace grounds. You will want to adopt the proprietor as your own grandmother. Only a few minutes by taxi away from Khao San Road, Iconsiam mall and Chinatown. With all of the tourists about, the area feels very safe to explore. The personal service beats anywhere I've stayed anywhere in the world.

Very nice hotel close to Wat Pho and you can see the Wat Pho from their breakfast area/cafe. It was a pleasant stay overall, but have just one recommendation. Since there are so many Asian tourists who visit Bangkok it would be great to have a hand shower attached to the toilet.

A special gem and piece of haven by the river . Near Grand Palace and Wat Bo. Host / owners are wonderful. Eating breakfast by the river was a treat. Away from the busy downtown and nested in the old city with direct view of Temple of Dawn across river. Will be back again when we return to Bangkok next time.

Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff, very comfortable room and bed, with pleasing view of the river. Has its own private jetty, and commercial jetties are within 10 minutes easy walking. Waterfront cafe where breakfast is served is a great start to the day. Bathroom was immaculate. There is a small step down into the bathroom, which is marked with nonslip tape. Shower is over the bath, with appropriate safety rails. Location is a matter of choice, with the riverfront and Royal Palace area (the grounds are exceptional) and numerous temples, or more bohemian areas such as Khao San. I was very pleased having chosen the river, and enjoyed the ferry trips (with only one ferry leg plus short walk to Khao San to experience the alternative). As a small hotel you are likely spared the partygoers and riff raff. There is some noise from the river boats, but nothing annoying and all part of the experience. Highly recommended.

Frankly it was the staff (Pan is amazing) and the location that makes this a standout. We had only three nights in Bangkok and wanted to be on the river. Pan made sure that we had a good itinerary every day - we walked to all three major temples and Royal Palace. Breakfasts were filling. Left my Kindle there and Pan had it sent out the next day - at her own expense. We could not say enough.

the houseand its land was sold to us. Shortly after a thorough inspection was conducted for the purpose of renovating the house.
The second building that connects to the main house was in a wrecking condition and had to be demolished. Then it was reconstructed using condensed concrete & steel foundation and finished with wooden details for the poles rafter and roof structure to preserve the quality of this teak wood house.
This building now has four fully furnished bed rooms and two public toilets. The main building which holds the front porch main hall seven bed rooms and stairs were still in fairly good condition so almost every detail was kept similar the way it was built.
Minor renovations were given to this building such as reinforcing the structure scrubbing and buffing all wooden parts re wiring and new paint to the teak plankwood flooring for example. Originally the front area of the house was slightly elevated to balance the ground level and contained a Thai style open basement.
However the ground level of the walkway and road were once raised due to flood issues and this left the open basement standing a few meters below the ground.To make use of this space the ground level has been re elevated so that the basement is now entirely below the building. Then the basement area is reconstructed into two chambers which are the kitchen & store and the Internet room.
