Great boutique hotel on the riverfront

This was my fourth stay in a riverfront room at this boutique hotel. It has fantastic panoramic views of Bangkok from its bars, restaurant and riverfront rooms. The boutique accommodation is modest, spotlessly clean and very nice, it has a friendly welcoming atmosphere that feels like home. The staff are lovely. The hotel restaurant has excellent Thai food. The location is an easy 5-minute walk to the ferry terminal. There is no motor vehicle access, the hotel is in a narrow laneway where their own tuk-tuks collect you. The hotel explain how to get there, it is not that difficult. It is a fun location in vibrant Chinatown style alleyways with their eclectic mix of market stalls and shops.

We looked for somewhere on the river to stay for our last two nights in Bangkok and we're so glad we chose Baan Wang Lang. Right on the riverbank, a stones throw from Wang Lang ferry pier so easy access and a market on the doorstep. Booked a river view room and wow - the views from the bedroom and balcony were awesome, with views up and down stream and across to the Grand Palace.
The staff were so helpful and friendly, particularly Nan and also a young new member of staff (whose name we didn't get) who had only just started on the Monday as we arrived.
Lots going on around the hotel too, bars/restaurants, the market and of course a 7-11.
Facilities at the hotel were also very good with a rooftop bar, cafe and restaurant.

My friend and I loved every minute of being there since we parked our car and got picked up to the hotel by Tuk-Tuk. Checked in with very nice annd friendly staffs.Our room had a balcony with a Chaopraya river view! It was such a great experience. We got to see the sunset then enjoyed our dinner on the rooftop bar and restaurant. The view was spectacular. It was worth it.I would love to recommend it to everyone.

What a lovely hotel in such an incredible location! My balcony had a view over the Wat Arun, Grand Palace and Wat Pho, which is hard to beat. The room was perfectly clean and the staff were polite and attentive. Breakfast was fantastic, with different a la carte options available. And the bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept on. Would definitely return!

We had an excellent stay here. If you can get the scenic room with panoramic view then get it. It’s room 501 and will definitely be worth the extra cost if you can manage it. The hotel has three restaurants and is located on lively street. The staff are very friendly and professional. It’s important to note as well you can’t take a cab all the way to the front of the hotel. You have to get out down the street and carry your luggage about a five minute walk away. It’s not too far but we were not aware of that. They will give you a ride to the Main Street when you check out for free. The room had a view of the royal palace and Wat arun and full view of the river. You can’t get a better view. The ferry is a one minute walk away. Amazing experience and room service.

I decided to treat myself so I booked Room 401, with a full view of the river for four nights. Beautiful room, beautiful hotel, nice breakfast, but mostly very nice staff (throughout Thailand). BUT....they have a singer who performs from around 7 to 11 pm every night. I was on a busy tour schedule and needing to get to sleep by 9:00. The guy may as well have been inside my room. It was that loud. I called several times to complain or find out when he would stop. It never stopped, sometimes even going past 11:00. If you are a night owl who isn't bothered by loud muffled music in your room until 11 , this hotel is ideal. Otherwise, no sleep. I feel like they need to figure out if they are running a hotel or a night club. I won't stay again.

Brought my wife to Bangkok to see the sights after a week in Phuket. We stayed in the Villa on the first floor with the deck overlooking the river. The deck was a highlight of our stay…we enjoyed it every night. It is a bit of a challenge getting a taxi directly in front of the hotel due to its location in the Wang Lang Market…but it was manageable. The drink prices are high…about the same as an Airport Hotel. But we grabbed some bottles of wine on the town and all was well. Overall…two thumbs up. Highly recommend!

Its a good hotel with helpful receptionist and a complimentary Tuk-tuk service to the main road with staff who go out of their way to please. The service they offer is indicated in the high ratings I have given the hotel. However, I was disappointed with our room. It was very average and overpriced for what we got, and I have included a photo of the \"city view\" that this room offered. If you cant afford the expensive panoramic view rooms, I think you can do better elsewhere. Cocktail deck looking on to river had great atmosphere but was very stinky due to open sewer vent on the next door property.

Right on the river next to Wang Lang market and ferry pier. We had a riverfront room with a 180 degree view and balcony with table and two chairs. Grand palace, Wat Arun, Wat Pho all in sight. The views at night were awesome. Roof top bar and restaurant. If you don’t want to spend the extra for riverfront there are plenty of outdoor areas to enjoy the view.

Great location, near river in the narrow lanes of old Bangkok. Boats cross river to Grand Palace and Chao Praya Express takes you down the river. Great views from reasonably priced Chuan Aroi restaurant ( by ferry pier). Hotel has helpful staff, clean rooms but no facilities, other than their over-priced public restaurant and bar. Don`t come here if you want shopping malls, `nightlife` or want to use taxis. Otherwise recommended!

Lovely stay in a panoramic room for two nights for our wedding anniversary. Ideal location very close to the river transport and about hour an hour from the airport. Difficult to get a car to, a tuk tuk is much easier as the streets around the hotel have lots of stalls.

Fabulous hotel at side of Chao Phraya river in Bangkok. fantastic views of river, good choice of rooms, and even good view from smaller rooms at side of hotel. great rooftop restaurant bar, fantastic views of grand palace at night and Wat arun. Another restaurant on 2nd floor and bar / coffee shop at side of river on bottom. Great local large market on doorstep. Although hotel can be a little difficult to get to by taxi once there, use the river boats to get anywhere and avoids all chaos of Bangkok roads. Can get river boat to Chinatown, Wat Arun, Icon Siam (fabulous new shopping mall,) Asiatique or to the main BTS station Saphan Taxin as well as many more river stops. Very clean hotel room and has all main essentials including laptop safe, good wifi, tea/ coffee plenty of sockets also beside bed for mob charging...and only shower I have have been too a great view of Wat Arun. All in all a very good hotel with great friendly staff.....we will be definitely back and next time a Panorama or corner suite room on the river. Thank Jim & Pakysayakorn

The staff here were absolutely lovely. The food was not however. It’s tucked away from most of the activities.
Across the river from all of the Bangkok experiences and travel to and from took a great deal of navigating. It is relocated in an alleyway used for a local market full of rats and roaches.

Rooms looked slightly less modern than online but room was clean, comfortable and came with necessary amenities (safe, A/C, fridge, bathroom etc). This hotel is pretty much central to the Grand Palace and numerous temples along the river. We experienced the warm personality if the Thai people through the front desk lady on duty who helped us book taxis and even prepared packed breakfast when we left on an early flight. We enjoyed our stay in the 5th floor suite with panoramic glass window view of the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. The night views are amazing. In the morning you can sit in your balcony and watch the sunrise to your left and see the river traffic. Thai food is very nice. We loved the mango drink, fresh and refreshing! Will definitely stay in this hotel again

This hotel was absolutely perfect! The location is ideal-it's right on the Chao Phraya River with easy access to the temples. The hotel is also ideally situated near the Wanglang Market and various restaurants and bars. The staff was exceptional and helped us out with every tourist question we had. They even helped explain and provided a map of the ferries, BTS, and taxi system. The hotel restaurant and bar has great food and drinks and a great view of the river. 10/10 would recommend!!

Nice, well appointed room. Staff very friendly. Only rooms which are suites or state river view actually have a proper river view. Good view of river from hotel restaurant terrace. Only issue, which would probably stop us coming back, is the location. It is across the river from the main tourist sites and is practically in the middle of the local market so it was very difficult to find on arrival particularly as we came by public transport and we were astonished that our taxi managed to find us when he picked us up. How he managed to navigate the small streets and avoid hitting the market stalls was amazing!

Once you step out from the lobby you are on the local market that stretches for few blocks. They sell everything: food, cloth, shoes, but “no big size” for Europeans. Ah. Narrow busy streets.
Pier is just 5 min away from where you can get to the Grand Palace and Wat Arum in 5-10 min.

It's a great hotel but the location is not ideal. Some tuk-tuk drivers refused to drop us off as there are some narrow streets leading to hotel. The hotel provides a shuttle service to main road but I guess it only works when leaving rather than returning. The hotel has nice views and breakfast was great too.

Stayed 3 nights at Baan Wanglang in the Riverfront room 401, rooms were clean, lovely hotel with amazing views all round, you can even watch the sun rise from the riverfront rooms. The staff were all lovely and could not do enough for you. Breakfast was very nice with lots of choice. We enjoyed the rooftop bar too although a little pricey for Thailand, 240bhat for a cocktail which is about £5.70 and beers only slightly cheeper. We would definitely recommend this hotel, it leads out onto a daily street market which shuts around 6pm. This hotel is across the river from the main area but it is easily accessible via boat ride right outside the hotel which is 3.5 bhat (8 pence) each way per person, and stops transporting at 10pm so very quiet over night. The Maragha pier is opposite the hotel (across river) with lots of little places to eat, we ate their most nights. We do not have any negatives for this hotel or the area, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Nice boutique hotel but needs painting/cleaning in the hallways and walls around the elevator - dirty. Rom could use touch up also. Room was basically clean a d functional. Staff were perfect except for top floor where they had all the view seats reserved for local friends. No nice seats for hotel guests, only the backroom. Why have reserved tables at a bar?

Lovely hotel on Chaophraya river

Hotel was lovely, a bit difficult for the taxi driver to find but we got there. The room was great with a view right up the Chaopraya river towards Wat Arun and the Grand Palace.

Restaurant had delicious food and the rooftop bar was nice for a drink with a view.

The water taxis were an easy way to get around, however everything is on the other side of the river so when the water taxis finish around 6/7pm it's difficult to get home.

We initiated our 3-leg Thailand trip in Bangkok. The experience was an excellent kick-off for the trip! Located on the river, we had a stellar view from our balcony of the river, temples and the skyline.
The hotel has coffee shop, restaurant and a rooftop bar (great to kick off our 1st night with some adult beverages).
the staff was AMAZING!!! We had booked an excursion and had difficulty confirming pickup (language barrier) and the staff assisted in calling and completing confirmation. The staff assisted with information and connecting us with transportation on more than one occasion. Additionally, our last day there, we had a night train to catch and the hotel held our luggage for us until we were ready to depart.

HIGHLY recommend for your stay!

Great Hotel - Fantastic Location

The Baan Wanglang Riverside hotel is a perfect location. Located in a small market area, right on the river, opposite The Grand Palace, and just a short river taxi ride from all the main temples. Very centrally located.

The staff is amazing and friendly. Make sure you get the breakfast included when you book your room - its much less expensive (not that anything was expensive)

A hotel with a great view.

The Baan Wanglang is a strange place, I obviously don’t know its history but it feels like it’s a converted office block, I maybe wrong and it’s not a fault, but it’s not a conventional type building. The location is unusual, the rear of the hotel must have one of the best views of the river you can get but the rear, the entrance, is right in the middle of a backstreet Bangkok market. On the 5th floor is a lovely bar area that overlooks the river, which must be one one of the most busiest and fascinating in Asia. By day it’s a great view but by nigh it’s amazing, we could have spent hours here. The breakfast room, on the second floor and the coffee shop on the ground floor also shares this view - really nice. The entrance to the hotel is a little weird though, you have to walk through a compact Bangkok market...querky at first but the smells can become a little tiresome.
The hotel is situated right next to the ferry and river express which is ideal but they finish around 10.00 pm so if you’re a late night type of person all of a sudden the hotel is quite isolated. The rooms are large enough and clean and the breakfast, fine. The staff were really helpful and arranged taxis etc when we requested. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel.

Loved this place! In the center of a bustling market so lots of fun sights and tastes right outside the door. Easy access to the boats/ferry which is the best way to get to many of the sights in Bangkok.

Our room had a fabulous view and was very comfortable. Staff was amazing, as expected. Rooftop bar had a great view at night while the breakfast restaurant was a lovely start to the day with good food and a nice view.

Perfect location for train to Kanchanaburi

Interesting setting all around. River view, although not the most beautiful in the world. All street vendors right outside the hotel. Great breakfast at hotel. All in all a positive experience.

Complimentary Breakfast was great!

The room was smaller than anticipated. Ours had only a bed, one small desk, one chair, two nightstands. There was no additional seating in the room. The location was better than anticipated although if I could do it again, I'd probably book the hotel's \"limo service\" because the hotel is down a pretty slim alley and hard to navigate if you don't go there regularly. I enjoyed that our room included breakfast daily - this was comprised of one full made to order meal and access to their buffet of fruits, cereals, milk, and juice. They had an offer where they would give you credit towards their cafe downstairs in exchange for not cleaning your room. The hotel felt safe and had a great location. If I did it again id likely go for a larger room.

Decent hotel right on the river

Lovely views of Chao Phraya River. Easy acess to Grand Palace, Wat Arun and Wat Pho. The only inconvenience was the fact that the hotel is located on the opposite side of the river from most tourist attractions and since the ferries stop running at 7:30 pm, this meant having to get a taxi back to the hotel each night,

Hotel was a bit dated but clean. Cafe/bar patio on the riverfront was wonderful as was the breakfast repast. We enjoyed being located right in the midst of the Wanglang market.

Budget Friendly Hotel with Perfect Views

Location: Easily accessible via public transport though a bit far (airport link, 2 BTS transfers and a ferry ride); near Wang Lang market (authentic thai food and some cheap retail stalls), near Chao Phraya river offering beautiful views of Wat Arun.

WiFi: good enough for quick google searches, maps and postig updates on social media

Rooftop Bar: perfect views along the river and view of Wat Arun

Service: friendly and accommodating staff

Food: Good Thai cuisine albeit a bit too spicy for us.

They also offer shuttle service which takes you from the hotel to the main road. The staff are very helpful. They helped us get a taxi from the main road at a reasonable price going to the bus station.

Nice hotel within a alley of several markets. Water taxis are near the hotel. The city was very crowded with visitors; who were in town to mourn the lost of their king last year.

Great view and great food

This hotel has a very friendly staff. The wifi service in the hotel was the best out of all the places I stayed at. The room was okay... just bothered me that they didn't change the bed sheets. The best part hands down was the food and the river view. The little cafe was also amazing. If I ever come to Bangkok again, will definitely consider coming back.

We got an upgrade for free

Although this hotel is down some backstreets of Bangkok, it is a wonderful hotel that sits right on the banks of the river. They upgraded us to a corner room overlooking the river (for free and without asking). The breakfast was a little limited on choice, but what there was, was very good.

A little gem by the river

Our stay at Baan Wanglang Riverside was very pleasant and everybody was always very friendly. A special treat was the daily breakfast on the terrasse with a very nice view over the river. The location was perfect in the heart of Bangkoks Oldtown. Definitely recommended!

Couldn't be a better budget hotel

A friend and I stayed at this hotel in late June and had a great stay. It is right across the river from the Grand Palace and the old part of Bangkok.

It is a bit hard to find, but luckily as our taxi driver was searching, the hotel's tuk-tuk came along with other guests and got us and our luggage safely to the hotel. Checkin was easy and they had our twin beds ready (another hotel that guaranteed us twins actually did not). The hotel provided us with a cell phone in case we had any problems so that we could reach them. Thoughtful gesture that we fortunately did not need.

Our room was on the 4th floor and had a small patio overlooking the river and the Palace. The only complaint was that the air conditioner did not work very well. It was trying but lacking. The second night I slept with my head where my feet belonged to get most from the AC that I could.

The staff at the rooftop bar were wonderful, and let us hang out for a few hours, although we did order drinks and food. Actually all the hotel staff were very helpful. Free wifi was strong enough in the rooms and restaurants.

From the hotel we walked a couple blocks north thru the market to get to the local ferry and for 3 - 4 baht got across the river to walk to the Grand Palace, Wat Pho & the Emerald Buddha Pavillion. Just what we wanted to see in Bangkok.

small hotel right by the water

we stayed there for just one night. the room size was not that big but good enough the bathroom is rather small though.The best about this hotel is the rooftop bar with the amazing panoramic view of Chaopraya river, palace and temples!!
