We stayed at Sunrise and The Grand. Things I wished I knew before going. There are multiple restaurants and activities (I.e. bowling) but you need to book reservations on their app. However , everything is always fully booked. Even when you first check in. What good are 15 restaurants and a bowling alley if you can’t access them. When we did get into restaurants with the help of a manager they were 3/4 empty. Very frustrating. The staff will aggressively sell you on the vacation club. This also means calling your room at 8 am multiple times to schedule sales pitches. The beach is covered in seaweed and the water is brown. (Not their fault but be aware if you are expecting a beach vacation) the pools and water parks at both facilities were great.

We throughly enjoyed all aspects of our stay. The resort was clean and well taken care of. All the pools and restaurants were great. The steakhouse was our favorite. Room service was very fast. We had a great time playing golf, the golf staff and amenities were very nice.

Beautiful rooms, awesome pools, actually delicious food, and good drinks. This place is fantastic. Just a couple things to keep in mind:
- bring your own insulated drink cup and they’ll fill it for you!
- BRING JET CLEANER for the tub in your room. Once you see what comes out you’ll be super glad you did
- the Bugambilias buffet is actually phenomenal, and I say that as a crazy foodie

Enjoyed our family’s stay at the Grand. We also visited the other two properties (Nizuc and Sunrise). The Grand is by far the nicest and I’m glad we picked it. I originally chose it because of the water park and the kids activities, but my kids (10 and 12) didn’t really spend much time at the water park. The grounds were much more beautiful and spread out than the other two properties, with multiple smaller pools that each had different vibes, which was nice for relaxation vs one big party pool. The walks weren’t too far and it was easy to catch a golf cart taxi if you wanted a ride. I didn’t care for the food at the buffet style restaurants, but we really enjoyed Habibi and the pizza at Caribeno and the Italian spot Tavola. Staff was friendly, great service, nice amenities in the rooms. We also enjoyed the French cafe in the lobby that was open 24/7. A couple things I wish I had known before going. 1. This resort is like a small city and far from the other hotels, so it seemed like a pain to go anywhere else. For example by the last day we had gotten a little bored and wanted to take a tour, or ride the ferry to Isla Mujeres, but the resort had blocked access to local tour websites and it was crazy expensive to even get a ride anywhere so we just stayed. 2. You are not going to get a beach vacation. The beach was very separate from all the amenities. Even the pools which are close to the beach have so much vegetation there was no view, no beach bars etc.

Okay, so I had been to the location in Jamaica so my expectations were pretty high. A situation that occurred that was off putting was that the gift shop at the water park allow my 9yr to use my husband card to purchase a toy but require my consent for him to get on a certain ride. And when I went to public relations they inform me that I am unable to get a refund because that company is a third party. When I ask for the 3rd party company info she requested to give me the information. Also, there was a roach in my kids room and when I call the front desk they wanted to send someone at 11pm at night to spray the room which I didn’t really like the idea of them being in a room that would just spray with chemicals. Someone did come and pick up the roach because my son refused to sleep in the room knowing there was a roach there.Other than that the kids love the resort. I would rate it an 7/10 mainly because the kids had fun.

There were just endless amenities that it was impossible to do everything in my 4 day stay. I wish I could have stayed longer! Water park, bounce house, circus tricks, arcade, just to name a few…

The resort was so grand we had to take golf carts from place to place. It was massive! We loved all the food options and things to do there.

Will come back for sure to do the things we didn’t get to last time!

The Grand is a true 5-star all-inclusive experience. The rooms were spotless, the service was exceptional, and the dining options were outstanding. The kids’ activities were incredible—arcades, bowling, waterparks, endless pools, and live shows kept everyone entertained. The spa was absolutely magical and gave us the perfect place to relax while the kids had fun. We had an amazing stay and highly recommend The Grand for families, especially those with kids under 10.

The overall cleanliness of the property was good, but I was at this resort for five days and my room was only cleaned one time and this isafter I requested it to be cleaned several times. As far as the food, the food was excellent for an all-inclusive. Regarding the staff, most staff members were very friendly, but certain staff members were very rude and not helpful at all.

The resort is beautiful with more than enough to do. The staff was attentive and friendly. Everyone was helpful with our son's Spanish. The rooms were spacious. The mini fridges do not get too cold. Be mindful of that if you need to store medication. They do have guest services that can store medication for you. This is why I could not give five stars. It was difficult getting towels daily. You can request them in the app, but no one was responding in the app. Same thing with the replacement of a mini fridge. I had to call twice and request in the app and it took all day and by that time, my medication was no longer cold. We were told the mini fridge is not meant to reach those temperatures. But that first one was broken because the drinks were hot to the touch. Lastly, we were offered extra resort credits to attend an informational session to learn about the brand and to buy the vacation membership. We were told it was not a timeshare, but it sure feels like one. A lot of fast talking and scribbling on notepads upside down. Once you reach your 1.5 hours obligation, let the people go. The pushy sales approach is a turnoff. Lastly, we checked out and a lady approached us again for one last attempt and we are trying to catch a plane. That was the last straw for me. I must have giving her the face of no return because she stepped aside. I would like to mention Cecelia was awesome. She was very attentive to our needs. Fix the app. The entertainment does not show in the agenda.

Main problem: Very few Vegetarian and Vegan options for each meal.

TV in room not working. Staff not trained well to fix technical issues.
6 diff technicians came to fix the TV and none spoke English so was very frustrating.

Phone in room had problem. Only speaker worked and not the handset.

Map of property was complicated. Almost all guests were getting lost.

Resort credit is a joke. Complete rip off. They should kill that program or give decent stuff for guests to buy things.

Room service is below average. Room not made up timely. Sometime fogot to put new towels. Found a cockroach. Food is also below average. Not that many protein options. Service is also bad. For buffet you still need to wait every time with wide empty space. Very often short of plates. Hotel layout is horrible. Spread out long building with a lot of walking. Golf cart transportation is great though. The place is so big and guests are scattered so you don’t feel the resort vibe. Some shows are good. Beach is not good either. Very narrow without any activities. After you check out, a lot of sales will try to sell membership to you. They should put those people to do real work and improve service quality. If you are the first time coming to Cancun, it might seem ok for you. We have been there for more than 10 times, and this is the worst.

When we got to our room the patio had an ant infestation. I called and asked them to spray and replace our lounge cushions. They came and spayed. I called, went in person and used their app the next 4 days asking them to clean up the dead ants and replace the cushions. They finally did this 12 hours before we were to leave. The shower had mold and there were dead bugs by the sink when we arrived. They did not replace the wet towels in our room and one day we came back from the beach to shower with no towels anywhere. It's impossible to get a reservation at the restaurants and when we did our kids food arrived 25 minutes before ours was ready. I have asked for compensation because we saved so much for this trip and they made it so difficult. I can't get anyone to get back to me. Cancún is lovely but I will never stay at a palace resort again which is sad because they used to be our go to before kids.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at Moon Palace The Grand was bad enough that I feel obligated to warn others. From the moment we arrived, things went downhill fast.

First, the water in our shower smelled like sewer, and no matter what we tried, the temperature never got hotter than lukewarm. On top of that, the tile in the shower was dirty, which is the last thing you expect from a “luxury” resort.

The food was awful, and it wasn’t just us—many guests were getting sick, whether from the food or the water, nobody seemed to know. Either way, it’s unacceptable for a place that markets itself as a premium experience.

If you’re expecting those bright turquoise Cancun beaches… don’t. The beach here is dark, murky, and nothing like the photos. Definitely not the picturesque Cancun vibe we were hoping for.

And be prepared: from the moment you check in, everyone is trying to sell you something—upgrades, packages, timeshares, you name it. It’s relentless and made the stay even more frustrating.

We stayed 3 days, and honestly, 3 days was 3 days too many. We’ve stayed at other resorts nearby, and Planet Hollywood is significantly better in every way. Save your money and your sanity—don’t waste it here.

The room was decent but the rugs were dirty in the room. Also, for some reason we had a hard time getting small towels. Even after the room was cleaned we were only given 2 small towels to bath with, there were 4 of us. One night it took 2 hours to get towels. We put in 3 request and still had to wave a staff member down to bring us towels. The waiter at the Jade restaurant ignored my sister after she complained about not receiving her food. We were intial told that only the credits given to us by expedia expired but were later told that all credits expire at the end of stay. We missed out on a lot of activities. The presentations that they offer take up majority of your trip.

Positives: We enjoyed our family time, the wait staff were wonderful and very accommodating, great pools, food and variety. Room was very clean when we requested service.
Throughout our stay we experienced many issues with our room. Our room safe wouldn’t open on two separate occasions which required attention by security and us having to be in the room.
Electrical smoke in our room on day 2. This required a visit from staff with a fire extinguisher and subsequent replacement of the AC motor. Another day of dealing with issues.
The smoke detector malfunctioned on another morning waking us at 4:00 am. It rang for 20 minutes before someone came to turn it off. A new detector was never reinstalled.
We were awakened at 8:15 on multiple morning by time share sales staff called a Concierge. We just wanted to enjoy our sleep.

Our adult son attempted to get some form of compensation for these terrible experiences and really the ruining of the first 3 days of our vacation but after a further 2 days spent negotiating we were offered a couples massage and $200 hotel credit. Not close to what we would have expected.
They had also offered a room change on day 3 but we were convinced that nothing else could possibly go wrong and didn’t want to waste another day away from our groups vacation We chose to be close to our son and family.

Their app works great, staff were almost exclusively awesome, and the food was good. Our daughter loved the kids club (she is 4.5) which made going to dinner with my husband easy. Minor annoyances on occasion (yes the resort credits feel like a scam, but I did get a lovely spa experience with just $46 owing). Drinks are great, wine is actually good, loved it. Chairs by the pools were easy to come by. Yes, there is a lot of walking, but we’re mobile and could use the exercise from all the food! My only knock is the lobby area isn’t the prettiest place I’ve been. It’s not open air and feels like a Vegas hotel. The grounds make up for it though.

We are a family of five who stayed at The Grand for seven nights. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. On the second night, we found a cockroach in our room. The hotel arranged fumigation but refused our request to switch rooms, and we could not access the room for part of the day.

The property feels outdated. The elevator in Building 94 was broken for our entire stay and was never fixed. The shuttle layout is also inconvenient, with the main hub located at the back of the lobby while all external transfers depart from the front, requiring unnecessary walking.

Dining was average at best. We tried Habibi, Casa Mia, Jade, The Grill, Cusco, Tavola, MOMO, Caribeno, Grand Buffet, and Circus. Circus is friendly to kids, but the food is poor. Alcoholic drinks are extremely weak. Service was inconsistent, and at Casa Mia a server broke a glass and did not apologize even though shards flew near our feet. The only standout was the dessert shop behind the lobby.

The positive side: the waterpark, Bounce Zone, Playroom, and arcade areas kept the kids happy and busy throughout the trip.

Overall, great for children but not a resort we would return to or recommend.

The Best All-Inclusive Stay Ever! Exceptional Service and Attention to Detail
Our stay at Moon Palace The Grand was easily the best all-inclusive vacation we've ever had. Everything was fantastic: the hospitality, service, accommodation, cleanliness, and food all exceeded our expectations. They truly pay attention to detail and go above and beyond for their guests.
Upon arrival, they noted it was my birthday and, as an Expedia VIP, upgraded us to a Governor Suite. Concierge Cecilia was incredibly thoughtful, swapping the standard wine for sparkling apple cider when she learned I don't drink, and the next day we had a lovely room surprise with balloons.
The service was exceptional everywhere. The concierge team on chat efficiently arranged early-morning packed lunches for our tour, and pool/water park servers checked on us constantly. Dining was a treat; the dinner at Circus included a special birthday celebration, and the chef at Riviera Maya prepared special vegetarian dishes for us. The breakfast buffet options were great, and all staff were friendly and attentive.
The only minor critique is the frequency of the golf carts. If you're far from the main lobby, you rely on them often, so improved frequency would be ideal.
Overall, we absolutely loved our stay at this property and will definitely be back again!

Just too many Sunrise and other hotel guests get free day pass com Grand doing eating and diner lunch , so Grand any where much people and game play room too many other hotel guests....... we paying more but can't get good time diner space and lunch waiting time too long ,

We always have a great time at the Moon Palace Grand. Food is wonderful, the staff is wonderful and we feel welcome and at home there. My only complaints are: 1. the location is a little bit far and while requesting transportation is fairly easy, it’s just a bit pricey and time consuming to explore other beaches.
2. This year the brown algae (sargassum) was horrific but it’s not the norm.
and 3. the Grand has three big hot tubs for the entire resort and they’re always full and not the most clean. Even though it is warm in Cancun, the hot tubs are nice during the rain. These are not things that would make or break our stay-normally a bad beach would turn me off but the brown algae is not something that the property can control so it’s not their fault and since we have been coming here for three years it’s the first time I have seen it this bad and it’s abnormal for this time of year.
