Refused refund due to family emergency

I was scheduked to stay fir my son tournament at Pickwick, unfortunately my daughter had to go into the hospital here in Fl so we could not make it. Hotels.com would have refunded my night, but Quality Inn would not authorize it. I chose to jeeo the reservation since it was already paid for instead of cancelling so Quality Inn could rent it out again and make 2x the money or more as it was in demand due to 400 college kids in the tournament, plus thier families.
I spend thousands a year in travel. I will never use Quality Inn again.

Absolutely awful

The Quality Inn Florence/Muscle Shoals was probably the second worst hotel I've ever stayed in, losing the absolute worst to the meth-infused place with the busted door I once found myself in. Where to start? Perhaps with the front desk staff, who were all very nice and did their best to address concerns. There were just too many to address. First, the place is dingy, outdated and filthy. There are stains on the carpets and sticky uncleaned spills on the linoleum floors. It is incredibly unkempt. When I went to let myself into the first room I stayed in, Room 123, there was a pair of unknown shoes in the corner by the door, the sofa sagged and had hideous scary stains, black on the seats and white and crusty on the arm. The desk chair had large pieces of the plastic covering worn away, exposing bare foam. The bathroom door had a big spill of something dark dried on it. There was grime on the floor of the bathroom and someone's hair in the sink, which was cracked. It was ghastly. It was also very loud, with people hanging out in the hallway (which smelled of marijuana) and in the parking lot outside of my room. Had I not been exhausted I would have asked to be moved, but I waited until the next day, when the nice front desk lady moved me to the second floor, Room 201. It was somewhat cleaner, but the recliner was again stained, the bathroom light flickered, the faucet dripped all night and the bed was very uncomfortable. The breakfast was inedible.

The hallways smelled like cigarette smoke, bleached carpet instead of cleaned carpet, there were cheetos, a beer bottle, crumbs, and several coffee stirrers under the bed dust ruffle when we checked in, hair in the beds, stained bedspreads, sticky bathroom floor, unidentified substances on the walls, gross carpet, paper stuffed in the door peephole, etc. Just super gross. The person working the front desk when we checked in was super nice, but we still checked out early because the hotel was disgusting.

This hotel is ABSOLUTELY disgusting! I would give it ZERO stars. The room smelled like mold, the a/c air smelled like mold when it was on and could not use the a/c, there was mold ALL in the bathroom along the ceiling and baseboards- it is honestly a health hazard. There were no other rooms available. The decor and furniture was so old and the walls had joint compound plaster that had not been fixed and repaired. We went to breakfast at 7 am and the floors were sticky and disgusting as well. Our shoes stuck to the floor. The cabinets in the eating area were falling off the hinges. There were bleach stains all over the hallway carpets leading from the main lobby to our room on the 1st floor. We should have been given a refund.

The building and rooms are filthy. There was mold in the bathroom. The floor boards are caked with grime. We don’t feel like we could shower. The headboards were wiped down with dirty rags. The door stopper was falling out of the wall and exposing far too many nails. There was trash in the room when we arrived. The hallways were filled with cigarette smoke. The breakfast was served from a warm fridge and a steam plate that warming. We took pictures and put them on Google reviews for the hotel.

Didn't like the over-all experience. We had to be moved to another roon because the bathroom flooresence light was \"flickering\" badly. The carpet in the hallway is badly worn. The maintenance has been neglected. The dack door was filthy and needs new paint. Don't know for sure but the bathroom baseboard looks like possible mold. The curtains had holes in them. I didn't see any security cameras. The breakfast they offered was ok but not great. The staff helped me when they could. They don't have a full time maintenance personnel. I would recommend finding another option before staying here.

I won’t be back.

My door didn’t latch shut. That alone is enough to give this hotel a terrible rating. When I told the front desk at checkout, he said “he said I know. People don’t like that.” “I’ll tell the maintenance guy to look at it again.” Also the noise on the first floor is unacceptable! I was awoken at 2 or 3 am to a loud BANG.

Hotel is rundown. Front desk woman acted like it was a chore to speak up and clearly. It was late, we were hot, tired, and dirty from the ball field all day. All we wanted was a clean place to lay our head and a hot shower. Our impressions: paint peeling, furniture worn and stained, lobby smells strongly of chemicals, walking down hall in this NON-SMOKING hotel the stench of cigarette smoke was so strong it made our eyes water. Once we got to the room it took a bit to get in because the card reader was malfunctioning, got in the room and first thing, we noticed was the door stop completely ripped out of the wall, then the bed looked like someone had just crawled out of it and there was blood on the cover piece at the foot of the bed. I glanced in the bathroom which looked ok but the bed was where it ended. We rolled our cart of belongings right back to the lobby and asked for a refund. Since we paid cash (note to self: don’t do that again) they couldn’t access the safe to return our money and asked that we return the next day for our refund. Since we had to be back the next day that wasn’t too much of a deal but if that wasn’t going to be the case I would have been more upset about it. We then had to drive almost 2 hours back home for the night because there were no rooms available within an hour. Then we had to turn around the next morning and go back. Overall frustrating and disturbing experience.

My keys would stop working I stayed for 5 nights and twice a day I would have to go down to get my keys redone for the room, and a few of the desk people would have an attitude with me over it and the person in the room next to me and my kids where very disrespectful and would have their door and wide open when having sex and would yell at my kids for laughing or crying and there were a lot of people outside smoking weed in the lobby, elevator and second floor with rink of it was like that the first 3 days

The area around the hotel has lots of restaurants and retail stores.

I was issued a key to the room and when I walked in, there were bags and luggages belonging to someone else in the room. I took them to the front door and receptionist said she would take care of them. I walked back in my room and in the bathroom were used bar of soap and a wet wash cloth in the tub area. I had to leave the room for an offsite meeting. When I came back later in the evening, the key to the door of my room would not work. I had to walk back and forth from my room to the front desk 3 times because they would reset the key but it did not work. When I finally got to enter my room, I have noticed that the beddings have been sat on and ruffled. Seemed to me that the owner of the bags/luggages that were in my room came back looking for them and took the liberty to sit on the bed. When I took the bags/luggages to the front desk earlier in the day, the receptionist told me that they have made a mistake to give my room to another guest but that they have moved the guest to another room. Evidently, the key that they issued to the other guest still worked to get into my room. About the cleanliness of the carpet in my room - I had to wear my shoes the whole time in the room because the carpet left black dirt stains on my soles just by walking on the carpet for a minute. I wiki never rent a room from this hotel. There is Holiday Inn just next door from this hotel.

Construction workers staying on the property (they were “cat calling” at me as I walked by) and there is no parking because their construction vehicles are oversized so they are double parked. They parked up front so guests not on the payroll had to park far away. Don’t let the discounted price lure you in- DO NOT BOOK HERE! It’s absolutely terrible. It’s a real Quality Dump!

I have never written a negative review on a hotel until now. Most unsettling stay ever. This property was very run-down, especially compared to the pictures online. Cigarette butts were scattered all around the outside and back entrance door had cracked glass and looked like it had never been painted. The worst part however was the people hanging out outside the front doors and smoking all day that did not appear to be paying customers. My husband overheard a front desk clerk telling a man that “just because you get to stay here at night doesn’t mean you get to hang around all day. You can’t be seen here during the day.” What does that mean??? Then I was awakened at four in the morning by loud yelling and giggling out in the hallway between two young ladies that I’m pretty sure were the house keepers talking in a foreign language. This went on for almost an hour like they were having a party or something. I just got a really bad vibe about what’s going on at this property. Extremely disappointed and I will NEVER stay there again.

The TV cable connections were disconnected, The remote control sensor was not visible to the controller, The drawers to the chest of drawers would not stay closed. Controls to the HVAC were not broke, Very noisy, parking is along the side of the rooms so workmen staying there were making noise late into the night, No security to patrol and control the noise. Carpeting in halls were similar to the floors in a movie theater.

This hotel was supposed to be 100% smoke free! We book d a 4 night stay. The first night we smelled some smoke but it was somewhat tolerable. The second night the smoke was so bad, along with marijuana smell that it permeated the halls. It was horrible. Couldn’t breathe. it was so bad we checked out the following morning. They were very accommodating upon checkout. The halls were all sprayed as well as rooms. They were trying. But I also have to add that we saw 5 roaches!! This was a really bad experience. I will also add that there were people passed out on the couch in the lobby for several hours.

Amending the verbiage of the description to state NO breakfast is needed. I specifically chose this hotel because of the \"free breakfast\". I would've went elsewhere had I known. Offering a hot breakfast has nothing to do with COVID, it's about your company saving money. Other companies have been offering waffles, eggs, cereal, juice, toast, bagel etc for quite awhile without any issues. Please rethink this choice.
